I've been trying for ages to get my 838Pro to WM6 so I can gain some extra functionality with Ex2007 but with no luck at all.
I've downloaded the ROM from the HTC site:
838 Pro WM6 ROM code for Optus and Vodafone Network Customers 3.53.707.2
I connect and Sync my device with Vista (Mobile Device Center) and double click the .exe installer, the installer begins and when it is 'Checking PC configuration' I reboots the phone into the bootloader and gets stuck.
I then gave up on that, and decided not to sync the device till it asks, I get all the way through the installer and it detects the current ROM and tells me which ROM will be replacing it and when I click to Update button the device loses Sync, the screen instantly goes black and after a short while this error shows up:

I then discovered a RUU.log file on my HDD which has this as its content:
22:27:19:582 [msg] : Version : [5.10 - 20060412].
22:27:22:615 [msg] : Current Not in CE Mode or in CE Mode but ActiveSync Not Connected.
22:27:22:616 [msg] : Disconnect ActiveSync .... [1]
22:27:22:616 [msg] : Start Get Connect Port.
22:27:22:620 [msg] : Open USB and COM Port Error. [1]
22:27:32:607 [msg] : Disconnect ActiveSync .... [0]
22:27:32:607 [msg] : Start Get Connect Port.
22:27:32:608 [msg] : Open USB and COM Port Error. [1]
22:27:42:595 [msg] : Disconnect ActiveSync .... [0]
22:27:42:595 [msg] : Start Get Connect Port.
22:27:42:596 [msg] : Open USB and COM Port Error. [1]
22:27:52:584 [msg] : Disconnect ActiveSync .... [0]
22:27:52:584 [msg] : Start Get Connect Port.
22:27:52:585 [msg] : Open USB and COM Port Error. [1]
22:28:02:573 [msg] : Disconnect ActiveSync .... [0]
22:28:02:573 [msg] : Start Get Connect Port.
22:28:02:574 [msg] : Open USB and COM Port Error. [1]
What I've tried to overcome this:
1.) Full reset phone all back to defaults
2.) Upgraded to Olipro 2.18 (I think thats the version no#) Did this twice as a suggestion from a member of another forum said that it may not have updated properly.
3.) Tried on my Laptop (Dell 6400, Vista Ultimate)
4.) After trying 20 or so times I then gave up!
Prior to trying on Vista this same thing was happening on my old PC with XP Pro and ActiveSync 4.5.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
