It hasd been a while since i posted a message, i have been searching different chinese websites to find a good working rom for my T-mobile SDA II aka hurricane aka 566 i think.

I have tried about 10 different roms, but always kept the spfans2006 second rom.

I think this rom i am posting now is based on that rom but works a lot faster.

Try it yourself, at the moment this is the best one for me.

hey.. i have a problem by installing wm6...
i followed all the steps till MTTY.EXE. i chosed my usb drive and now there is a white box where i should write "C/ something....). But i cant write! i tested my keyboard in word and it works fine but not in mtty...?

what should i do? should i shut down the phone even there are the three coloured stripes??

Search in these pages to find english T9, and yes a few things are still in chinese.
I am also still looking for a dutch or english languagepack so i can try other roms.

I have to after using this rom for a few days it still works pretty fine for me, besides a few chinese signs.

I haven't tried that, the only thing i did with with bluetooth was working with bluetooth gps transmitter and that works fine.

Ive application unlocked my phone, CID unlocked it too.

I updated something using the Patched_RUU file.

Then in mtty I get this.....

It was a sky 1010 rom. I used a different download of the sky1010 rom and it worked ok.

I couldnt send sms messages from my o2 contract sim but could with the prepay one ive got. So now reflashing it before I try a different rom.

What is considered the best rom to use? Im using the one offered in post 247 on page 25. The media player buttons dont do media player functions and my I cant send texts but other than that its great!

Ive tried the sky1010 and spfans2006 roms.

The sky1010 rom was the one Motocross-FrEaK posted earlier.
Cant send SMS from contract sim. messed up media player buttons. chinese celetask. (program manager, ctrl-alt-del thing!)

The spfans2006 rom has bits of chinese in it though so I cant use that either :-(

What do you mean "cook"?

If you mean kill... I suppose its possible but as long as you can get to the bootloader screen then you will be able to install the Qtek 8200 rom. From there you can have another go at a .bin rom. I did have to install the patched ruu rom one time to be able to install the qtek rom.
Ive had mine in all kinds of states but have managed to get it to work eventually.

If you mean edit an existing rom... cook up your own? Then possible if you can get a program to extract the .bin files. Ive never really messed with mobile phones so I dont really know whats available or how hard it is to do so....

I'm experiencin this problem with every ROM I've tried so far... at first it's perfect and I fall in love again whith this phone but after about 2 days it's not able to boot anymore, no mather what I have intalled... I've read about a few other people over here experiencing the same problem... is there a solution to this? Furthermore, every time the phone boots it shows the T-Mobile boot screen and the questions clean hive and format par... how can I get rid of this? I've got the feeling this has something to do with the problem...

Yeah I get a boot screen like your t mobile oneonly mine is qtek.

The clean hive and format par are something that appears after you install the patched ruu. Its required for the rom install. I dont know what either do but it looks like its just a couple of options you can select when the phone boots. As long as you dont press 0 (i assume!) they wont be doing anything.

well I CID unlocked my phone and the messages work and I can access and also transfer stuff to and from my sim card.

I havent had any boot issues. I just need to find a celetask replacement now.

EDIT: Well I was able to copy my contacts over to the phone and send one test sms but now it doesnt work. If I CID unlock the phone and then click on CID Tool (Alpha) I get the option to CID unlock the phone again. It doesnt actually CID unlock the phone.

Has anyone had any similar issues with sms not working? MMS wont work either... The option to take a pic or vid appears but it wont select either... that happens even with the sim card that cn send sms.

im sure thebluetooth problems are related to WM6 itself as i seem to recall some of the older WM6 roms for some other devices (tornado/blueangel and some others ive noticed) also dont have obex ability for BT but ive seen a cab around here to enable it which may work for you. - i havent got a hurricane at the moment but if i can find said cab ill post it up for you

But for the next step when I need to hold the camera button and plug in the USB, the bootloader didn't come up... only a white screen.
The same white blank screen appears when trying to hard reset.

Black SDA I with wifi or the silver SDA II no wifi (EUROPE) or is it a US SDA with a hump and wifi?

ahh, Yours is not a hurricane. It is the HTC Tornado which has different hardware.
I'm not certain but I believe you may have bricked your phone. It's the same if I flashed my hurricane with tornado ROMs, it would brick the phone.
We'll wait for the opinion of people with more experience than me but a brick is likely.

Does this ROM work ok in combination with ActiveSync? I used the spfans2006 ROM, yet after running active sync, my home screen shows 'No Service' at the operator line and the Start menu does no longer work (same goes for Contacts, Calendar etc.)

Anyone familiar with this problem and how to solve it? I thought it was related to a corrupt pim.vol when flashing the ROM on the device, yet I renamed that file (so a new one is created from scratch by the OS) and I still have the problem.

I reverted back to T-Mob SDA II image from the UK site, but of course I rather have WM6 on my SPV C550

Every Rom i tested for a few monts, has the problem that i can only connect 1 time. After that i have to reboot my computer to connect again.
I dont know what to do about this.

Hello all i have been reading this forum for some time now and i had to get my noise in to this lol well here i go i have the SPV C550 or the HTC what ever its called the Hurricane hardware but code name dopod 5*6 it says but i think thts 566 its almost the same as the Hurricane but looking on the HTC website it is
a remake for the rebrand for Orange and Vodaphone but all fun back to why i
am posting.

I have installed many roms and many times failed to get a good version working
i always had a no texrting or other things like this only problem i have now BT and I can't install Windows Live On the New Rom Posted On here Random
But True i have installed the older version what worked so i am lost why it
says no.

I fixed the Texting problem very simply by installing
EnglishT9.cab
Now its all working if anyone needs this and any other things posting
tell me i will host all the needed files as i have 10 gig web space so i
can happy host the files needed.

But i would like to know dose anyone know how to kill the boot loader image set by the oparater as this phone was made for orange the boot loader is the only thing that now shows that brand what gets on my tit as i only went with
them for this phone i have used WM6 on my SPV/HTC e650/s710 what was slow and laggy but i never get this problem with the older and slower CPU SPV C550.

Also is there a way to remove the options the bootload now shows as it give anyone the option to set the rom back to default if they hit (2) or yes to format par. I would like to change the brand logo in the bootloader and hide this option as i want t get another one of these phone and reinstall it for my bro whom is a fool and will mostly keep formating back like a tit he is lol.

Plus i want to make my custom verion of the phone fit the rest of its look.

Anyone needed a WM6.bin file please tell me and i will see about getting it uploaded i don't rember what verion this other one is but BT worked but it was

What Rom are you using as i have not seem this problem at all within any of the roms so far within this forum i have had many other problems but this one seems to confuse me the back light dose go out on me sometimes when i leave it but soon ans i hit the hang up button it comes back just like it did with my 2003 rom

its not the version number what dose it cos i have used the old roms and the new once on here and all of them if booted worked.

The Rom i am using at the mo will be downloadable by end of the tomorrow night if you would like me to upload it ? just need to find witch one it is again.

not it matters as you can use skpe but it installs nicely cos there is no wifi or 3g on these things it wont work but the software for some reason is in chinses only
its not in english so kind lost there.

One of these roms WLM dose not work i forget witch but its only messenger
lol.

Installing the t9 english pack will fix the text problem for all you english texters
i have not posted the reg fix for the back light as i have not had this problem
how ever i do have the problem with taggle screen mode in WMP so don't hit
that one lol well the key is not set for it so you are safe but if you try and set
it and us it its just turns off the screen till you reboot and i mean off 100%
so you have to pull out the battrey.

not make new files just opens and edits other office files so i am leaving

Got it working now! I forgot to restart the phone after installing the second T9 pack. Works great! :)

Does someone know how to change the actions of the round buttons? I want to go directly to the SMS inbox if I press the round button number 4 (most right one).

Also within Text Messages if I want to write a new SMS I have to choose 'menu' > 'new' > 'sms'
Isn't there an easier way?

None of the roms i have seen work with BT :(

hey i a, not the one what wats Dutch t9 lol :) did the BT work on that rom
if so can you find it and i will add it to the uploads i have so people can download it without stupid caps and yes soon as you install the T9 and restart

After working with the new ROM for a while now, I realize something strange:
When the phone is locked and I receive a phone call, I don't see who's calling me, I only see a black screen. After pressing the green button I answer the phone and see who it is.

Anyone having the same problem or knows how to slove this?

I don't want to pick up all the call's I get :)

Does Bluetooth work? I mean is it possible to send contact (meeting, task) via Bluetooth. And also files and pictures sending by fexplore.exe or pimg.exe.

Receiving works fine. Sending files by Total or Resco works too. But what about contacts?

I like the HTC Home stule of your Graphit ROM. There are indeed some bugs (e.g. support for English language is lacking at numerous places e.g. when choosing locale or using Windows Media).

However biggest hurdle for me is the fact that this ROM does not support syncing with ActiveSync as well (tried to sync just my contacts, rebooted the phone and then it hangs on the - beautiful designed - Windows Mobile animation, which by then is no longer animated).

I also tried the Kingsen Olympic, yet I guess that is only interesting for people who love 'kitsch' (I guess people who have seen the ROM working will understand), which by the way suffers from the same Active Sync issue.

So my big question is: has any one found a Hurricane ROM that does sync with ActiveSync, also after a reboot of the mobile phone?

Btw: i solved the ActiveSync issue. It turned out that the pim.vol file in the root directory is corrupt. I renamed it, a new one was automatically created and now it syncs like a charm!

Is there a ROM that has individual entries for SMS and MMS in the messaging programme? I dont use MMS and have to select SMS explicitly every time I use it.

But he had a good point I must say. Disabling the MMS function would be a great option, or better, replace de delete function with new SMS. Mayby it can be done with the registry? I had a look in it, but can't figure out where I can find it.

I will try your ROM's this weekend! But before I do that, do you know a program that makes a full backup of the Phone? So I can put it back on my phone after trying your ROM's? Because the one I have now is working perfect.

I've been looking for a solution for a few days. But I didn't find any that convinced me. Those involved changing the soft keys, adding a software (which didn't work) that superimposes a "new" menu over the soft key and another software that replaces the messaging programme.

It seems that Microsoft was convinced that people are more likely to delete a message that to write a new one.

Are you referring to WM 6.1? I saw some screenshots (in Chinese) on smartphone.org.pl in the HTC Hurricane WM6 v2.0 PL - GRAPHITE EDITION thread. I tried online Polish to English translation but that didn't provide much help.

Btw: what improvements does version 2.1 of your Graphite ROM bring, compared to version 2.0?

Is there a way to delete the Polish versions of e.g. CeleTask and TotalCommander from the \Windows directory (and of course the Start Menu)? That way I could make your ROM more US English than it currently is. Btw: I loaded your 2.1 ROM and when I tried to replace the tshres.dll file, nothing happened (I still had the new - ugly - battery and network icons). Is there a specific way/tool to do this?

Furthermore I am having problems of adding ringtones. I used HTC Audio Manager to set a WMA file as ringtone, yet for some reason this doesn't work. Anyone ideas how to solve this (copying the files to the \Windows folder does not make them show up in the Sounds menu)?

if anybody want to add some ring tones, must put them to my documents directory, then they will be visible in sound settings.

about other language of celetaska, just put yours *.exe to windows directory (celatask must be close) and run it again.
to change thress must replace file in windows directory, but need to resert phone after it

I have got a problem:
I can't get into the bootloader I think.
I press and hold the Camera button, then I am plugging in the USB cable.
Then there's a white background with red writing on it:
"Do you need IU (0)" (or something like that)

I press the Zero-Button on the phone but nothing happens.

After 1-2 seconds there is:
"Do you need IU (0): N" and i get the tri-color-screen.

But in the bottom-line there is XIP and not UI.

And when I try to flash the ROM onto the phone by using mtty I always get an error.

What should I do now?

Hi.
I was looking for a WM6 new device when I considered upgrading my Orange C550 to WM6. So I followed the advice I have seen in here.

So far I have:

Download Active Sync 4.5 on my XP PC. OK.

Application Unlock - Using SDA_ApplicationUnlock.zip. OK

SuperCID - OK (CID now 11111111)

Disable USB Connection - OK

Access the Bootloader - OK I get the 3 colour bars. (Hurricane IPL 1.00.10 in red, Hurricane SPL 1.00.12 in green/Hurricane in blue) - OK

With TeraTermPro I check that I have SuperCID. This is OK.

With TeraTermPro I send "Format BINFS" - OK

With TeraTermPro I send "ResetDevice" - OK

But now I am stuck.

Whenever I reboot the phone I get the BOOTLOADER screen. I cannot load activesync.

With TeraTermPro I try "l e:/566.bin" (The 566.bin ROM image is on my PC on the E: root drive) The response is
clean up the image temp buffer at 0x8C080000 Length 0x01C40000
MTTYDownloadImage "e:/566.bin"
start download

and then no further.
Do I have to manually send the BIN file? Or should the BIN file be on the phone (on the SD card?).

I cannot restart my phone in anything other than bootloader. I cannot use ActiveSync anymore.
Apologies if I have missed anyhting obvious, but I've been trying to fix this for 2 days now. I would appreciate some help if anyone is able to offer advice.

and have u written l e:/566.bin or l e:\566.bin?
if your device have got wm6 before, if u have waited 20 minutes and written e:\566.bin, let u write format BINFS, then l e:\566.bin(l is small l not big i) and then ResetDevice

Before I had the original ROM - 2003SE

After "l e:/566.bin" I tried about 3 times. Each time I left a long time. The last time was about one hour. What is the usual time to wait from the "start download" message until something happens? The phone UI is always the same with just the bootloader 3 colours screen.

1. after downloading files, in folder with patched RUU there is file *.nbf(i dont remember name)- delete it and insist put this:http://rapidshare.com/files/56616745/spl566wm6_spfans2006.rar
then opren rom update utility and continue flashing, i dont know if it works with bootloader, but if the programme recognises your phone everything should be all right
And don't blame me if u destroy your phone, i know it works with enabled as connection.

My HTC Hurricane is sold as the Qtek 8200, Orange SPV C550, i-mate SP4m, O2 Xda Phone, and T-Mobile SDA Music 2.

The SP3i is HTC Feeler? Also sold as the Qtek 8020, O2 Xphone II, i-mate SP3i, and T-Mobile SDA (UK).

So I think it is the wrong SPL file? Excuse my caution but I have read many stories about phones becoming bricks.

let u better flash yuour device into t - mobile rom it's safer, and then flash it into wm6
u can do it this way :

open tera term pro, write info 2 if tera shows you htcs super cid, write format BINFS, after completing format process write ResetDevice, your device should restart and go into bootloader mode, then open file u have downloded, click next, next (till u see "update" button) and then "update
" updating should take 10 minutes, then your device will restart and u will have clear 2003 rom, but it's in russian, so go into start menu(on our phone), click 8, 0 and 5, go right once by your joystick and press left softkey, then restart your device and u have english language if u will want to have wm6 rom, write me on PM bye

Heh heh ... seems I'm posting to myself ... that's cool I like my own company ... So I reflashed the SPL and some of the problems have gone away.

Phone will boot OK now ... but it will still "go to blank screen" and require plugging into the USB cable to "wake it up"

I tried with different .nbf mentioned as working for SPV C550 but it did not change anything.

Could anyone please confirm if it is normal or if we should see 'Model ID : SPV C550' as in the 'From' part?
