Yes You can try program vjtoggletodayiialpha.exe
look in this threat http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320349&highlight=vjtoggletodayiialpha.exe

Perfect!

this is exactly what I was looking for and does nothing extra.

iLauncher, while a cool app, does WAY more than I need/want.

Looks like I found another problem. I have a Dell bluetooth GPS receiver (made by navteq). It worked fine before, but now, it will not pair. The bluetooth configuration can detect it, and even see the serial port resource, but will not accept the security code and says the connection has failed. I am able to pair other devices to the PDA and also able to pair the GPS receiver to a bluetooth laptop.

The problem is there is no passkey for the device, and the GPS stack will not let me connect a device without entering a passkey. Is there a workaround for this?

Have you tried the bluetooth stack from aximsite? It has a lot of good features.

Download (http://4pda.ru/forum/uploads/img-54919-IE_bug_fix.rar) this cab for fix IE bug when there is a slow scrolling of pages.

Thanks football. That fixed all the slow scrolling problems I had. Also my processor speed is changing again which is good. It was stuck on 624 for a while. With all the fixes done, I think the ROM is the most stable one yet! Thanks again football. When the ROM is released in it's final version I might just have to paypal you a little thankyou!

link?

I sort of got it working. What I had to do is connect, then go to the port screen and disable "secure connection". Then set the serial port to COM7. Then I see COM7 in TomTom.

However, if there's a better BT stack (especially if it will handle a GPS receiver and A2DP connection at the same time) I'd love to give it a shot.

I used a BT stack from aximsite under WM5 (Widcom I think), but the A2DP performance was awful.

The problematic one is the one with 'date time reset' problem.
This is also the oldest.

The date time reset problem occurs when you are changing your battery indicates that the backup capacitor on your x51v is dead. Happen on mine too, got a friend to help me re-solder a new capacitor back and it is working fine again.

what Bluetooth stack are you using?Broadcom Bluetooth Stack, with the flow control hack and the BTSpeedSwitcher software! This is Mike Spikle's old school software! I've had this software for maybe 4 or 5 years, every since Mike Spikle came out with the Broadcom Bluetooth Stack. Before Dell came out with the X51v, we had to use this hack on the X50v back in the day..........! This software gets better with time, just like my lady!

Since I upgraded to the latest ROM, I have had a problem with Tom Tom software. I open the program and touch the warning screen and get "No Maps Found" screen. If I uninstall the program and reinstall, it works for a day or so and then looses it's brain. I have searched the registry and deleted everything relating to Tom Tom and Navigator and then did a fresh install. It works a couple of days and then goes blank again.

I did not have this problem with WM5 A12 but the problem started with WM 6 A01 and has persisted through each upgrade.

Anyone else having this problem or can offer a suggestion. I have emailed Tom Tom twice with this problem but haven't gotten a response.

taxim,

I have TT6 and have no problem, neither. However, I had "No Map Found" problem once for the first time upgraded to WM6 Football but it is not the ROM problem, it was caused by strage device name had changed so TT6 got confused by that.

When I used WM5, I renamed my SD card device as "SD" for just shorten the path for some application and now as default of WM6 RTM, it is called "SD card". I'd re-generated the installation key from TomTom web site and register again under WM6 A01, everything working fine again and it does not asking after upgrading to A02 or RTM.

I hope it helps your problem but it is also worth to install TT6 from scratch after hard reset if the problem remains.

Thanks, I'll try this. While playing around tonight, I discovered that if I took the SD card out, the problem went away. I looked on the SD card and saw a tt file. I remove this file and now TT loads with the SD card installed. This is really strange.

This is the same as Aximsite_WirelessPower? Or something else? The BTSpeedSpeed Switcher deals with the BT speed, it stops the sound from skipping, works like a charm. All 3 of the above downloads go together like a hand and glove, like white on rice. Yeah, do you feel me!

Generally things are working well. The Belkin Snap Keyboard works, etc., and things are definitely faster.

One problem though. Not sure if it's WM6 or something else. I am running FlexMail, and it is having two difficulties:

1. Forwarded email is producing only the header in the email, not the entire email message to forward.

2. Encoding seems off for Flexmail. For example, an apostrophe in FlexMail is an a with a caret, I think a Euro symbol and a TM symbol.

Is anyone else having these issues, or do you have any idea what is causing the issue?

Thanks.

Greetings,

I am a very new PDA owner, and although I am able to install new programs on my Axim x51v, I need a little help figuring out how to install this AO3 ROM upgrade to WM6... I know that I will lose everything I have on my Axim now, and I am prepared for that.

I have downloaded the AO3 .rar file and unzipped it. Now what do I do with the two files that I unzipped (DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM6_A03EN.nb0 and DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM6_A03EN_nb0.crc)?

Thanks so much for your help!

Same question. I've got A02 installed and working great, but would like A03. I don't want to reinstall everything. Is there a way to back up everything from settings to installed programs on SD card/internal memory?

If a particular software will do the trick, I'm willing to get any software needed for the job. I've just got everything set up perfectly and would rather not lose everything.

Here is the way to get into the SD Image Loader on the first try (as one try is all it should take!).

Step 1) Press and hold the Power Button + WiFi (Hardware) Button
Step 2) While holding those two buttons, QUICKLY PRESS AND RELEASE the Reset Button on the back of your Axim. The "press and release" is for all practical purposes a simple "tap" of the reset button. NO NEED TO HOLD THE RESET BUTTON IN FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME. NO NEED TO PRESS THE RESET BUTTON MULTIPLE TIMES.
Step 3) Continue to hold the Power + WiFi buttons until you see the white screen with a blue "banner" at the top which states the SD Image Loader version
Step 4) Once you see the above screen, release all buttons and the ROM image from your SD card should be listed on the screen
Step 5) Press the Center Button (this is what is referred to as the "Action Button" or "Action Key") on the D-Pad (front directional pad on your Axim) TWICE QUICKLY
Step 6) Sit back and wait for your device to flash with the ROM

Hope this Helps
Paul-Z

As for saving programs from a previously installed ROM - it is not recomended because you can carry over errors from the previous ROM - a fresh install is the best policy - although I did read in a previous post a way to do it but it seemed complicated.
I suggest spending the time to do a fresh install of all programs - you should sync your contacts and calander though because these can be synced and brought back or you can do a backup of these two only - if you don't use Outlook but if you do I suggest using active sync to move these from your computer to the PDA - if you do a BU then when you sync the first time you have the chance of getting double contacts on your PC.
A fresh install is always the best policy for a new ROM
Check out POST#20 by Varro for links to everything you need for A03 RTM
#24 by hunterd for info on new ROM
#34 by Lemark for possible get around for re-install
and #43 and #49 for possible reasons not to try this method
ALL are in this thread

You should be sure that WiFi is OFF, the driver can't be in use. Try to soft-reset the device if required. ;)

1) Turn off WiFi.
2) soft reset
3) copy via your desktop/laptop using ActiveSync.

Strange thing. I tried resetting the device numerous times but it still wouldn't let me replace it. Finally I used LazyMind_WM6_WiFi_fix_by_Vagus and it reset and when I checked the file date in File Explorer it was the same file date as in the archive, so for wahtever reason that worked. hope, it's not OT, so I'll try.

when connecting to whatever (DUN, WLAN) the connection manager always tells me what it is doing (like dialing, no connection...). How can I get rid of those messages? It's boring to always have to acknowledge them

Looked for a A03 problem page, but couldn't find one....

A few problems with the A03 ROM that I'm experiencing...I keep getting a battery latch notification at least 5 or 6 times a day, sometimes many, many more. This even happens while charging undisturbed in the cradle.

Also, whenever I click the wifi icon on the top bar (next to the speaker icon), whether WiFi is currently on or off, it always notifies "Turn off flight mode", even if it is already off. It did the same thing with A01.

Otherwise, a great ROM!!! Kudos to the developer(s).

Greetings,

I was hoping that someone might be able to help me with the installation of the WPA fix and the ModemIS.exe program...

With the WPA fix, I can't seem to figure out how to copy the wzcsvc.dll file into the /Windows folder on my Axim. As it says in the installation instructions, I cannot simply copy the file to my PDA and then move it into the /Windows folder, because the device gives me an error saying that the old wzcsvc.dll cannot be replaced because "Access is denied."

I am using Windows Vista Ultimate with the Windows Mobile Device Center and when I try to explore my Axim's files via WMDC the /Windows folder doesn't even show up...so I can't even try to copy the wzcsvc.dll file from my PC directly to the /Windows folder... Can anyone help me with a solution to this problem? Thanks!

As for the ModemIS.exe file, I copied it to my Axim and ran it, but I don't know what the various options and buttons are for. In the dropdown menu, do I choose CUSTOM, BeeLine, MTS or Megafon? What do I type in the AP Adress box? Should I check the "Add QoS string" box? And what do the Write INIT String, Conf. Modem/Term Off, and Term ON buttons do? I'm reluctant to experiment in case I mess something up...

Once again, I much appreciate your help!

So far, when i press play on wmp or any other program, i can only here it for only one second.
Anyone tried this?

Sorry... With CorePlayer it works like a charm :D
After a soft reset, it works fine with wmp too.

Can someone send it to me or post a new link of it?

jbmatrerick I also tried the ISmodem without success to be able to add a init string in order to define the APN for my Nokia mobile.

Instead I found help on Werner's "Menneisyys" Ruotsalainen blog on the Smartphone site. See the comment made by ubik at the end of the text.

For my axim x51v i needed to add <cr> at the end of ubik's string.
Regarding the WPA fix it worked fine for me. Make sure you have turned the wifi off before copying the wzcsvc.dll file.

The battery latch problem is a known Axim issue. Go back to the Aximsite and search. You will find a thread about placing a piece of paper (I use part of a business card) or tape over the battery near the bottom. This will fix the problem.

A week ago I downloaded WM5 A17 ROM but didn’t like it much, so I decided to take to plunge with WM6 A03. The first few days it was great I could not believe it. It was like new life was bred to my axim, everything worked perfectly, even WPA-PSK and Windows Live.

I love WM6 and now I can’t live without, HTML Mail is the greatest thing that happened to Windows Mobile and high resolution browsing is just the jewel of the crown.
One of my main applications PocketRSS had some compatibility issues (font is HUGE and there’s no way to make it smaller) so I uninstalled it and decided to try SPB Insight, later I noticed my device was slow and unstable and since the only *new* thing in my device was SPB Insight I decided to turn off the home screen plug-in and I regained performance.

Everything was smooth until Thursday when WPA-PSK stopped working for no apparent reason!!.
The first thing I checked after switching to the new ROM was WPA-PSK connectivity because it’s a huge deal for me as I connect through WPA-PSK both at home and at the office and I’m a 100% sure it was working. Now when I try to connect I get a warning message that reads “Cannot connect to the network. Check your network and service provider settings and try again”. Fortunately I can connect using Odyssey Client, but I’m not a big fan of it and I would prefer not to use it.

I thought I tried reinstalling Vagus' DLL but when I got to the forum the link doesn’t work!!!!! After a little googling I found it here (http://rapidshare.com/files/59123134/x51v_wm6_wpa_fix.rar.html) Unfortunately that didn’t help either and my secure connection still won't work.

Hey football thanks for the GREAT Job!!! WM6 on Axim x51v is just amazing, keep up the good work!!!!

PD: Can someone help on my WPA-PSK Issue?? Vagus, Football anyone???

--I'm running WM5.0 OS 5.1.195 (Build 14957.2.3.1)
--I've tried several regular SD cards formatting them (FAT32)
--Then I copied these files to the card:
DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM6_A03EN.nb0
DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM6_A03EN_nb0.crc

--I inserted the card into the Axim.

--I pressed the Power and Wireless buttons at the same time, while still holding those, I pressed the stylus in the reset hole and released, still holding the other two buttons.

--The screen I mentioned before comes up and I release the buttons.

--The screen just stays at that point and nothing happens. I thought that the file name is supposed to show up and that's when I push the action button twice.

Am I doing something wrong? I've followed the directions but I can't get the rom to load off the SD card. Can anyone help me?

I just built a French Pack for WM6 X51v/x50v.
http://rapidshare.com/files/63268706/Koalala_X51v_French_Pack_RC1.cab.html
Just install it on A03RTM for X51v or A02 for X50v.
Many things stay in english (Power, Brightness, Help and some folders name) but all the system is in French, dictionnary is french, office, games and transcriber...
It's the first release, i let the keyboard Qwerty.

Anyone else having random problems with Wifi? I've copied over the new file and also ran the LazyMind_WM6_WiFi_fix_by_Vagus fix but to no avail.

When I click on the Wifi icon on the bottom right it will bring up the WLAN utility. 75% of the time though, when I click on the "Turn On" button, it will act like it is trying to turn on Wifi but it never does...It just goes back to the same screen and the "Turn On" button never goes to "Turn Off". Even a soft reset sometimes will not fix the problem. I'm not sure why or how but if I try later in the day it may or may not work...

My settings in the WLAN Utility page are:

Power Save Mode: disabled

Disable WLAN to conserver power... : unchecked

Am I missing something? Am I doing this wrong?

Thanks for the help.

Your symtoms seems like you are running an unsigned dll file. Could you please run SKTools, and check if device.exe is loaded wzcsvc.dll or not.

I've followed the steps to install this rom several times and all I ever see is the white screen with "SD Image Update A10_G3" on the top of the sceen in white lettering with blue background behind it. The rom image filename never shows on the screen.

Can anyone help me with this, please? Thanks!

I can't remember if it did or didn't. I know that once the sd loader screen appeared, I let go of all buttons, and then pushed the middle button on the Axim. That started the load process.

Probably a stupid question but you don't have the "hold" button up do you?

Also, it may have taken a few minutes after I hit the middle button before it looked like it was doing anything...

No, the hold is not up. I tried again and I just let it sit to see if it would eventually start, but nothing. I flashed it before several months ago and I had no problems. I don't understand why it's not flashing now. Where did you download your files from?

yeah ... make sure you extract files to the root of the card ... and by the way .. just incase ... transfer files over by way of a card reader ... DO NOT do it via activesync ...

after you've got the loader screen displayed ...press the action button TWICE !!!

Suggest you try a different SD card, as it appears some don't seem to work from posts I've read elsewhere. It's not an SDHC card is it? as they won't be supported until you've upgraded.

You don't have to have it connected to the PC when doing this...You haven't been clear though if the card is formatted in FAT32, not just FAT. That could be the source of your problems.

It's formatted in FAT32. I've done everything listed in the install directions. If I can't figure it out what the problem is, I guess I'll just have to be content with WM5. I was really looking foward to upgrading to WM6. This is such a bummer.

Princess, et. al.:

I'll admit (sheepishly) that I was holding the lock, when I thought I was holding the WiFi button, during one of the ROM loads.

Also, one of the posts a while back mentioned holding WiFi and Power at the same time, then inserting and removing the stylus from the reset button (like a soft reset). Although it's been more than a week, I think this is what I did when I loaded A03-RTM.

Good luck!

I had this problem. I actually had to use another sd card. I know you have already tried a couple, but maybe try one more if you can borrow one from somebody. It appears some cards just dont work.

I have noticed that it's not a matter of cards working or not, i have since tried this on card that didn't work previous attempt. but the most important thing is to hold wifi and power, then press reset and while still holding wifi and power simul. wait until you see the bootloader screen and keep waiting until the name of the rom file comes up on screen, then release the power and wifi buttons and hit action twice to start the rom flash. hope this helps!

so procedure should be:
hold pwr+wifi then while holding press reset button
keep holding pwr+wifi DO NOT LET GO
wait for bootloader screen (keep holding pwr+wifi DO NOT LET GO)
wait for ROM filename to appear in bootloader screen
Release pwr+wifi buttons and hit action button twice

this has worked for me everytime since learning it. before I used to let go as soon as bootloader screen came up and only sometimes would it bring up the ROM if I let go at this point. SO KEEP HOLDING PWR+WIFI UNTIL YOU SEE ROM FILENAME!!!

VOIP with WM6 is discussed here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299950&highlight=voip) (summary below)

Is anyone using native WM6 VOIP on X51V with WM6 Football ROM?? Is it working?

(planning to phase out Skype, which works OK with Football ROM)

X51v_Forever

========= VOIP summary here ============

Check if the VoIP is support is present in your ROM, as some cooks have removed them from the ROM.
so look for the Internet Calling today item as well as for the following files from the packages VoIP and VoIPOS in the \Windows directory:

*
* ipdialplan.xml
* dnsapi.dll
* voipphonecanvas.dll
* rtcdll.dll

If you don't have Internet Calling support in your ROM, complain to your favorite cook, not me.
Internet Calling is an integral part of WM6 and should not be removed.
For the HTC Wizard, the Orwell1984, the PDAViet ROMs, MB ROM and mUn_aRTM_10_2_0_8_WWE have the necessary modules.
For other devices, try it for yourself, as I don't know the specifics of the ROMs..

Ok. Let' go to the setup on how to do it.
Simple: 1-2-3 steps.

1. you will have to create a _setup.xml file with your provisioning information, any text editor will do, use the attached sample as a baseline.
2. run the following command: cabarc N myVoIPsettings.cab _setup.xml
3. get your newly created .cab file on the WM6 PPC and run it.

Note: if you don't have cabarc, you can get it from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/198038

Voilà! You might have to turn on your Wifi (it does not work over GPRS/EDGE)
and select "Whenever Available" as an option in Phone/Menu/Options/Internet or Settings/Phone/Internet.
Soon, you will be connected to your preferred VoIP provider...

Thanks.

The FlexMail problems are peculiar to WM6 and supposedly are addressed in the next version which is to be out prior ot EOY.

I haven't been able to figure out the program for adding an initialization string to the modem. Are there instructions somewhere?

Yeah I don't know. I just got done reinstalling the Preview ROM as someone stated earlier that it is more stable, but I am running into the same problem. Frustrating as it is, I don't think I want to revert back to WM5. This is definately a good ROM besides the Wifi problem I have.

It's hard to believe that nobody else is having this problem. I must admit I am new to Wifi and haven't used it much when I had WM5 loaded. I'm not sure that I am doing something wrong when loading Wifi...

I am running A03 RTM and it works great.

I turned on "lock" after x minutes of not being used. So after x minutes the keybad pops up and you must unlock it to continue. It is working as it should. The only problem is that it is set for a short period of time 2 minutes or so.

When I went to change the time I can not find a way to change it. Help says got to Settings -> Personal -> Passwords. There is not a Passwords app there. At this point I do not know how to change the password or turn it off. I would prefer to set it to 10 minutes or so.

Any help?

Well I'm still having this problem but I found the culprit (I think). Turns out there is a problem with connmgr.exe (Active Sync uses it to turn off Wifi when cradled).

I found a fix here (http://www.airscanner.com/downloads/airfix/airfix.html) from Airfix. What is does is allow you to be able to kill the connmgr.exe process.

So far it is working great but the only problem is every reset I have to run this utility, which is just a minor pain...

I've only been using this for about an hour doing some tests and it seems to work everytime so far. I'll post back if that changes.

I'm wondering though, if anybody has any insight regarding connmgr.exe and why it seems I am the only one with this problem??

Tabbed browsing is not built into this ROM.
You will need 3rd party software like Pocket Plus 4.0.
I have done a full restore after a hard reset using Sprite backup but not Spb. No problems.
You will NOT want to do a restore after a ROM upgrade with any backup software.

I even populated an additional backup X51V unit I have. First installed 'footballs' WM6 A03 ROM on the spare unit, then did a complete backup on the daily X51V unit. Placed that backup (on a SD card) into the spare unit with the newly installed WM6 A03 ROM and did a full restore. All went well and I know have two identical units (ROM, installed applications, system settings and all data files including PIM stuff). The only thing that has to be established is a email connection. Pure plesure that Spb Backup application.

I have not noticed anyone else point out this minor irritation, but it seems to be a WM6 thing as I have looked around. If you password protect your device it will revert to Today Screen on wake up. I can find no way to shut off this "feature" other than to disable password protection. In other words, if I have been working on a Word document and shut off the PDA for a few minutes, when I turn back on the PDA my Word doc will be in the background and the Today Screen will be up front. I do not like this "feature" or bug. If I disable password protection the Word doc will always be in focus up top.

Update on Spb Backup. The unit I did the backup restore to ended up with a date/time issue. Upon exchanging the battery for a fully charged one upon booting up the date/time were back to its original setting. First I thought there was an issue with the internal clock charger but after doing a fresh WM6 A03 reinstall of the ROM the time/date issue when changing out a battery was not there any more. Go figure. Guess I will have to get a newer copy of Sbp and try that out.

I think it's a bad idea to do a restore from a backup when you've flashed a new ROM. It may appear to work but could lead to big troubles soon. The new ROM may have made registry changes that you are overwriting when you bring you backup back. So you might think, "OK, I'll do the backup for everything but the registry". In that case, you'll find that many of the apps won't work because they are looking for keys that aren't in the new ROM's registry.

Either way, there's no other way than flashing ROM, and reloading apps one by one.

I think your advise is sound and it was the process that I ultimately came up with for my backing up issues. Just to 'PIM Data', 'Email', and 'My Documents'. Thanks for your help. I have found this site of great value.

Hi,

Not sure if anyone can help.. I have an Axim X51v that has been working really well until I Saturday. I switched on and the Dell screen displayed and the unit failed to boot. Read lots about this on the Internet and took the option to run the boot loader from the SD card an update with A12 ROM. Same thing seems to happen. Unit updates and the boot ROM installs and then unit freezes at the Dell Logo. I have run the battery down and recharged and left battery out overnight.....Any thoughts appreciated!

Unit is out of Dell Warranty Period!

Thanks

I went from A12 Dell ROM directly to footballs A03 RTM ROM with no issues on my SD or CF cards. Perhaps you should to a redownload and then a reinstall of the A03 RTM ROM.

If anyone has been following my posts about the Wifi problem/Fix...The "AirFix fix" does not work. I am still having problems with Wifi. Turning off connmgr.exe worked for the first couple of hours but when I got home that night, it stopped altogether.

Sorry for posting this so late but due to the San Diego fires, I haven't had much time to work on this problem.

Quick question... was the quality issue of Windows Media Player ever fixed in A03 RTM? I dont know if this is related, but I currently use BeyondPod for podcasts, which embeds WMP, and playback drops the sound at times. The podcasts are all MP3. Is this a WMP playing MP3 problem?

Hi...
I'm having strange problems related to wi-fi...
- Sometime I'm having issue that WIFI won't turn on...
I have to soft reset, power down a couple of times to make it work....:(

- Sometimes, even if the WLAN is on and the scan found my network, it doesn't allow me to connect... If I go in the WLAN "settings" menu to try to connect manually the problem is that I cannot see them. The only settings I see is the one that I use to manage network card. The tab containg the WLAN connection setting is not visible.

- Another strange thing is that if connect to my WPA-PSK enctrypted network , it does perfectly. The problem is that after sometime (5-10 minutes) the wi-fi disconnect and prompt me for the password... It seems like it's loosing the settings and I have to reinsert it.

- Last one is that sometimes with wlan off the icon on top appears as trying to connect or
already connected...

Anyone has the same problems?

My symptoms exactly...I can't seem to narrow it down. I reloaded the RTM Rom just to be sure and it worked great yesterday at work (no WLAN available but at least Wifi turned on and off with no problems). I get it home and try to connect to my WLAN and it has problems connecting (WLAN does turn on though). So I open Odessey (which I'm not too famaliar with) and now when I go back to the Dell WLAN Utility it will not turn on.

That has been my experience also with connection to WiFi networks. A03 issues for me have been zero, with an improvement in speed in every application. WM6 A03 was worth the wait and worth the reinstall of my applications and data following the ROM installation. Again a very large thank you to 'football' for his efforts which I am getting daily.

LOL I have been having this problem since A12, so it has to be the Wi-Fi utility in itself.
I just soft reset when it happens.

Problem is a soft reset doesn't even help when it happens to me. Not even a hard reset. I have no idea how or why but it will randomly start to work again, but only for a few minutes...I don't think it's a problem with the ROM but I've done search after search on google and can't find squat...

I don't have a baseline for comparing MP3 playback but WMV playback sucks in A03 RTM WMP.
But for all I know, this might be a generic WM6 issue that has nothing to do with this ROM build.

Anyone installed the widcomm stack 0.50 ?
I'm having strange issue with bluetooth starting..
Sometimes the blue led doesn't blink...
And after I click on bluetooth folder in programs menu, a bluetooth device folder (same as CF or SD) appears in file explorer... And can't do anything with that... Is that related to the old Microsoft Stack...?
Is there a way to remove that device folder in file explorer?
I'm having also problem with the speed of the Obex File Transfer Service. The speed has been increased to 921600 but it seems it cannot be sustained so the transfer is like a burst of 50-60 KB/s , a pause of 1-2 seconds, another burst and so on... If I decrease the speed with the small executable btSpeedSwitch the speed is 25-30 KB/s but this rate can be sustained during the whole tranfer.
Anyone having the same problems?

Cheers

I have installed the WM6 and all went very smoothly, am impressed that the results were as good as they are and the ease of the process... a huge well done to all.

I have read it seems hundreds of post looking for the solution to the media player not showing full screen in landscape. The picture goes landscape however stays the same, small, size. I have checked the supposed fix with the registry entry however this entry was already set to 1 so toggling this didnt achieve the predicted fix. Is there any other fix or is this works in progress?

Thanks again..

After putting the two file from the zipped file you downloaded onto a FAT 32 formatted SD card follow the following instructions. I did and it worked perfectly.

1. Press and hold Wi-fi button (wait for 1 sec?)
2. While pressing W-Fi, press and hold Power button (again, wait for 2 sec)
3. Briefly press and release reset button, keep holding Wifi and Power until SD loader screen appears.

Then use the pad to select the rom you want to load, ensure that you have full battery and plud to power to be sure you won't miss power during the flash process. Selection with center of ‘D’ button. If more than one ROM updates showing selection by using the outside rim of the ‘D’ button and then the center of the ‘D’ button to start the ROM process.

princess_80854,

I had the same SD card issue when upgrading. My 4gb and 2gb SD cards would not initiate the ROM upgrade process. For kicks, I tried a 64mb card I had hanging around, and it worked flawlessly... Same procedure on all cards, clean format and all... Go figure!

How did you reformat the card? Card Reader? Has to be FAT32.

Please help:

Settings: My desktop computer syncs with internet time. My PPC syncs time & date with desktop on connecting.

Problem: today, when we would normally switch to Standard Time, PPC falls back one hour on syncing. Desktop shows 8:22 PM, PPC shows 7:22 PM.

But we are not switching to Standard Time today, because the date for switching to Standard Time has been changed this year, and will not occur until next weekend, 11/4. So I reset the time on PPC, but it changes back again on syncing.

I don't understand why PPC and desktop do not display the same time, and I cannot figure out what to change in my sync settings or time settings so as to get all the devices to show the same time.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Do you think the problem lies in MS ActiveSync, Dell settings, or WM6 RTM03?

How do I get ModemIS to activate the Init String? I would like not to have to use the Broadcom Stack. I have loaded it in to the coustom field and am hitting the "Write INIT string" button but it is not working. What am I missing? I have tried launching it from SD card and from the Windows directory.

It was a phone problem. The program works fine.

Dear jackleung,

Thank you very much for the information.

I have backed up the PPC and am ready to try it, but the only thing I can find is this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Time]
"TimeZoneInformation"

I cannot find the entries beginning [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Timezones\.. .]. The \Microsoft directory goes from \Terminal Server Client to \Today, there is no line for \Timezones and a search of the registry for "Timezones" yielded no result.

So, I wonder if we are talking about the same ROM? Mine is the Football RTM A03.

Might be easier to just wait a week and see what happens...

U need to add this to yr registry. My registry just did the same thing as MS put in it's cab.

You can d/l the cab directly from MS -> http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/daylightsaving/daylightdownload.mspx
I am not sure if football using the latest dll. Therefore, if the wm6 version doesn't fix yr problem. Use WM5 version (w/ the updated dll) should fix yr issue.

Dear jackleung,

Thank you for this very helpful information and for the MS link. I downloaded and ran the installer with total success. Great way to start my day!

This has been a fascinating little exercise - kind of a Y2K in miniature, and it caught me unawares. (Down here on the farm we still wonder why they even bother with Daylight Time - its just a nuisance, the cows don't care what the clock says.)

Interesting. I went to WM6 A03 from Dell WM5 A12. I had my X51V set up while at the WM5 A12 level for this new DST issue (which worked fine). I had forgotten to reinstall the patch after doing the new ROM upgrade that 'football' supplied to us. Today my unit has the correct date and time. Based upon this I must assume that the ROM contains the date time fix. Can that be correct?

Agree!
Was having the same issue, although my desktop was saying the SD card is FAT32, actually it wasn't..... using “Pocket Mechanic", I could properly flash my x51v...

Kudos to all efforts put in to produce this ROM

Thanks the Pocket Mechanic worked for me. Same thing was happening. Windows read it as Fat 32 but it was really FAT16.

I am now on Mobile 6....oh yeah.. LOL

Mine also using A03 RTM. No difference in time today. I looked up the Registry entries as specified above, and "TimeZoneInformation" is different, and the other entries are missing. Is it possible for the DST fix to work without the registry entries?

I have read all of the posts that 'football' has and as near as I can tell the answer to you question is it is not possible simply due to the fact that WM6 was developed by MS for a VGA capable device (PDA or phone). There is a ROM upgrade for the X50V and the X51V but nothing else. I may be wrong so any senior member jump in and correct/edit/add or change my answer.

You should create on PC a text file, write down in it "0C0368Fc" without inverted commas, and rename a file in "DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM6_A03EN_nb0.crc" change expansion the "txt" to "crc"!!! or download the attach file extract his from arhive and place the "DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM6_A03EN_nb0.crc" file on SD-card with firmware file...

Or try download firmware from here (http://rapidshare.com/files/57663678/A03_RTM.rar)..i am using this firmware and dont have a problems wiht flashing...

The Dell Axim X51v running Fottball's A03 RTM ROM with the Broadcom Bluetooth Stack installed on it, can now be paired with the T-Mobile Dash via bluetooth {"DUN"}. This is a major break through, thanks to the {Expert} Menneisyys with his new super bluetooth {"DUN"} cab file, that works on the T-Mobile Dash like a charm and other smartphones and pocketpc devices have had the same success also. You can get all the details, the bluetooth {"DUN"} software download here at my thread in the Excalibur forum, go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340762 .............!

You should have a folder on your device under the 'My Documents' folder named 'My Update Files'. Put the 'cab' file you want to install into it through the 'Explorer' application within the ActiveSync PC application. When the 'cab' file is on your device you get to it by your devices 'File Explorer' application. When you get to the contents of your 'My Update Files' folder double tap on the 'cab' file you wish to install. :)

My x51 went through the upgrade process without a hitch, but won't boot A03 RTM. I can run the diagnostics (They're all good), run the SD ROM utility, etc., but when I do a hard reset, I get the "To restore factory settings press" screen. If I press calendar or mail, the screen goes blank, pressing any other button does nothing.

Maybe a bootloader problem?

at least 3 people have already asked if they can flash their x51, and mr. skyhack doesn't know how to read so he found out the hard way along with about 5 others, thats not even counting the threads for the a17 rom, and all the other wm6 x51v threads

I want to apologize a head of time for asking what might be somewhat of a newb question. I have tried to read about the process, and I think I have a pretty good understanding of what is going on.

However, I am a little confused about the bootloader. I had read somewhere, that the First 4 letters of the file name corresponds to the bootloader. i read DiMa corresponds with WM2003 bootloader, WM50 corresponds with WM5 bootloader. So what does DiAD correspond with? Also how do you figure out what bootloader you have loaded?

Currently I have WM5.0 OS 5.1.195
Axim X51v A12

Any help or answers are appreciated, call me paranoid, but i dont want to brick my pda

SaintX,

Paranoia makes sense when you don't want to brick a trusted device.

I'm not sure that I understand your questions in light of the concern about bricking your Axim. The bootloader is the code designed into the processor to allow it to find and load the OS or (in cases like Football's ROM) a new set of code that will replace (upgrade) the OS that is resident in ROM.

So, to prevent bricking your Axim:
1) Is it an X51v? If not, return to previous rants...
2) Have you copied the two files from Football's RAR into the root of a properly formatted (FAT32) SD card?
3) Put the SD card in your Axim, and follow the installation directions (noted in previous messages several times).

The DiAD files are created by Football and contain Windows Mobile 6 Classic, very well updated to insure that it works on the Axim X51v model. These files are read by the bootloader to replace the OS in ROM on your Axim to upgrade it to WM6.

Once you have, your version will read
Windows Mobile 6 Classic
CE OS 5.2.1908 (Build 18508.0.7.0)

In short, come on in, the water's fine!:)

saintx007

so there is no specific bootloader for WM6? From what I read, you needed a specific bootloader for WM5, when going from WM2003 to WM5, i thought that might be the case for wm6.

__
also from this thread http://tinyurl.com/38lv73 (aximsite) it says that the file names of the image is specific.

[Prefix] _ [Imagetype] _ [Revision] _ [Description].nb0

where: Prefix = Depends on which Bootloader is CURRENTLY installed on your device. For the WM2003 bootloader it has to be DiMa, for the WM5 bootloader it has to be WM50.
__

This is why I wanted to make sure the DiAD files are ok.

I will take your word on it, seems like it has been working great for everybody. But just for curiosity sake, if anybody can shed a light on the above, that would be great.

Simplest term would be that theres a difference in the process between the two upgrades is all. I simply followed the process described here (more than once I might add in this thread) and it worked with out a single flaw. It is important that you format the SD card to FAT32 or the process will not work.

I found this forum about a month ago after buying an X51V to replace my Asus with a battery issue. Guess I am not sure it this is a reportable issue with A03 for 'football' to look into for us or whether this issue is just unique to me. Do others of you have this same issue today. It's not Football or his ROM; M$ just posted this fix in August to take the "Fall back" change into account in WM6. My sense is that all WM6 users (OEM and "cooked") need to apply this patch.

Follow the directions. If you changed the time manually, you may be setting it ahead one hour after the patch.

FYI - I am sure I rememer my A03 RTM Axim automatically updated to day light savings time in Australia. Not sure if the issue only affects certain locale's.

Jago,

Sorry to have been so parochial (forgetting that there are lots of members of this group outside the USA)... the DST issue is related to the fact that the US Government (Congress and President) changed the DST start and end dates, with 2007 being the first year of the new system. We now begin DST sometime in March and end on the first weekend in November. There was a DST update from M$ before it started and another before it ended. I guess they forgot something back in the Spring...

Your correct, I went to the M$ site and found the August patch and applied it to my X51V. To late to tell if it worked so will have to wait another 6 months.

Is this a new release to your ROM fixing the Day light saving issue or is it a newer WM6 release. The files say 'DiAd K AximX51v WM6 A03EN' for your reference.

Never mind I answered my own question by looking at my ROM upgrade SD card. It contains the same files and those files I used to upgrade my unit. Go figure!

The DST patch (US' new DST set: worked)

Even though I had A03 I still re applied the DST cab (back when A03 1st released) that M$ sent to me & it worked.

My PCs patch worked to. :D BTW I didn't expect it to auto launch ActiveSync via BT when it did it but I guess it was for the Outlook too I guess. :/

Hi,

I'm trying to run the card Encryption feature on this rom but it doesn't seem to be working.....I check the "check" box to encrypt, but when I go back to the encryption section the box is unchecked again. Any advice/word on this?

great job football! its the best rom yet! :p
now if only wi-fi wpa psk-tkip would work without any patching...

the guy that said he couldn't encrypt his storage card made me laugh :D

i have had some bugs but i am pretty sure they are caused by the programs i am using not by the rom
sometimes after turning the device back on some the device displays icons as black and white stripes and the start bar is black and white striped
this usually happens after turning the device off and on while tomtom 6 is still running. my fix for this is to soft-reset it

occasionally when i turn the device on i see just a black and white checkered/striped screen i think this might be cause by spb mobile shell. this goes away if i turn it off and then back on again

thanks for your hard work and continued support football!

Got the same problems when Pocket Plus 4 was installed... After removing it, everything is ok!

EDIT : I have another small problem, though : When I let the PDA in the cradle the whole night (my PC is almost never powered off), then in the morning, when trying to use it, it is so unbelievably slow that it's almost frozen. I have to soft reset it...
My PC is running Vista with Mobile Center 6.1.

Yes, I have this problem. I looked at the above thread and looks like the only solution people have found is to hard rest and reload all apps again. I hesitate before doing that. So far what I do is force my Axim to be a "Guest" at home so I can sync Outlook at work.

Would love to find a solution to this.

1st of all, I just got my Axim X51V today and I was able to successfully flash the AO3 rom and everything was working great. Thanks to Football and everyone else that has had anything to do with this ROM.

I was able to successfully connect with my PC using active sync, but I had not installed MS office on my PC so I could not do all the mail/calendar/contact stuff.

I had left the house for a few hours and took the Axim with me and fiddled with it looking through everything and when I got home, I tried to use active sync again, but I could not connetc (I am using the USB connection since I have no WIFI in the house).

The troublshooter could not detect the device on the usb cable, but it worked earlier. Other things work on the usb port and when I first plug the Axim in the port, windows recognizes it, but when windows tries to make a new network connection, it does not seem to be able to ping it.

I tired several things, but no luck, so I decided to do a hard reset (power+reset button), remove activesync from the PC, use a registery cleaner to remove all the trash left behind by active sync (hopefully), re-install active sync and try again, but still no luck.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I maybe reflash the dell to the old A12 rom from Dell the again reflash it with Football's?

Hi there,
Please check in you Setting > Connection tab > USB to PC:

Check and see if your "enable enhanced network functionality" option is turned ON?
For some reasons, my Axim x51v would not sync to my PC if this is ON. As soon as I uncheck this option, sync is no problem!!!!

Please try it.

Works fine for me.
I do a snyc with my notebook and my desktop computer.

The only thing it you can do this only with 2 computers. If you try to sync with a 3rd computer you must delete one partnership on the axim :(

I have read through the thread trying to look through all the info on what SHDC cards do and do not work and I think I have fried my retinas from staring at the screen for so long:eek:

Right now, I have 2 OLD 64meg sd cards that I am using with my Axim and I want to get some higher capicity cards, but I am really unsure as to what size I should get for compatibility.

I know I do not want to get anything higher than 4gig right now, but peeps please answer this posting with what cards they have that work with no problems and any "special" steps they had to use, if any to ensure they work.

Also, how can I tell if my yr old panasonic USC reader will work with a 2gig plus or SDHC card other than putting in the new card and crossing my fingers? I live about an hour from any electronics stores and would like to know so I can get one with a new card if I need to. I currently am able to use a transcend 2gig 150x card with the reader with no problems.

Thanks for any help any of you can give me.

I have found that PhatPad will lock up intermittently if left running after the Axim auto shuts off and then I power on the device. Has anyone else experienced this.

I am also getting "An unhandled error has occurred in the shell. Attempting to restart shell"--when the device auto shuts down and programs are left running. I think this is just saying it does not know what happened but it has to quit. The Axim then soft restarts. I see this happen with programs loaded in main memory. I could understand it if it only occurred with programs loaded on a card but that is not the case. I will get the error regardless. Most of the programs I will leave running on the device are loaded in main memory. I notice this with TextMaker, PhatPad, Mobipocket, and the Mail program and others.

Most problems I have had with this rom have been solved by a hard reset and by moving programs on to main memory. These problems persist however. Any tips would be appreciated.

I successfully ActiveSync (using v4.5) with two PC's plus my corporate Exchange server with WM6 A03 using either USB, Microsoft BlueTooth or Widcom/Broadcomm BlueTooth (MikelSpikel's version).

All work fine for me.

ActiveSync can be a bit touchy, but I find no adverse affects related to Football's WM6 A03. I suspect the answers to your issues may be found by searching ActiveSync forums outside of the xda-developers site (Microsoft, etc).

Everything seems to be working fine on my end now. I knew that it did not have anything to do with Football's ROM. I am just so new to the Axim and have enough PC knowlege to be dangerous to myself :D . Now all I have to do is figure out how to resolve an "issue", really that is what it says, in my activesync popup window on my desktop. I have looked in the files folder where the "issue" is supposed to be, but can not figure out what is wrong. Would deleting all the items in the folder and re-syncing (the handheld is supposed to overwrite the desktop) clear this up?

I've been using your A03 RTM for a couple weeks now, with no issues.:)
My Axim is defiantly faster... I noticed the speed increase especially after I've installed all my programs. At which point the old ROM would slow down to a crawl, now it seems no matter how many programs I install it works just as fast as when I did a hard reset....

I can't wait until your next release...

Thanks, yes I know it has nothing to do with Footballs' great ROM. I have a suspicion though. Everything was fine until they gave me a new PC at work. They now don't give admin rights to users (on XP). For example, I can't copy anything to the C: drive. I had to ask the IT group them to install ActiveSync
for me. Maybe Activesync is trying to store something, it can't and just ignores it?

I've had my X51V since it came out in 2005 and it had fallen in to disuse because it failed to connect to my 802.11 network after I went WPA-PSK no matter what I did...until this upgrade. Amazing. I join the chorus chanting "thank you Football!"

I still need to get it working with BT stereo headphones - didn't work before and continues to not work but I haven't gone through all the (apparently necessary) steps yet.

Using ActiveSync 4.5 it did sync with my PC (via the USB cradle) but all the outlook notes were blown away...so I need to investigate that. If anyone has some insights there let me know.

As I posted a while ago I upgraded my Axim x51v to football's WM6 A03 RTM. Everything was good at first, but after a week I lost the ability to connect to WPA-PSK enabled networks, leaving me stuck using Odyssey Client. Besides that everything was very good and I was very pleased.

Unfortunately, as time went by things got worse, frequent hangs, blank screens and strange behaviors made my device a burden to use as I had to soft reset several times a day, and last week, the drop that filled my cup, activesync suddenly stopped working. GGGGRRRRR
As you can imagine I was frustrated, but nevertheless y gathered my strength and before taking extreme measures, I just hard reset my axim and voila!!!! It’s like new again, I reinstalled all my software and everything is working perfectly, I can even connect to my WPA-PSK network without using any external client (just using vagus fix).

By the way, I sync my device at home with activesync 4.5 and at work with WMDC 6.1 without any problems, I use Bluetooth at work and my cradle at home and I keep everything in complete sync.

Now my big problem is that I got an HTC S620 (Smartphone) and my WM6 Axim can´t connect to it to use my EDGE network. Apparently this is due to Microsoft’s Bluetooth stack not supporting Bluetooth PAN.

So here's my cry for help, can anyone please point me to a link where I can get a Bluetooth stack that supports Bluetooth PAN *AND* plays nice with A03 ROM???

Thanks everyone, especially football, you rule!!!

Cheers!!
