are all the issues addressed in this release? such as wifi and alarms?

also, what is this a2dp program? will it add the a2dp profile to the ms bt stack? because the default stack sucks, and I usually have to resort to downloading aximsite widcomm stack...

In my experience, Wifi with WPA-PSK is the same as A03 Preview. After every soft reset, I have to turn on wifi and turn it off just as the connection icon appears. From there on in, it works fine.

Alarms seem to be working properly in this one though.

I've installed the file manager add-on, and it's pretty nice. Among other things, you can now see file extensions, you can adjust the column widths (so you can finally see the entire filename instead of the abbreviated one), and there's a drop down folder list to help you navigate.

As I didn't wanna install from the scratch, I did like this in a rather stupid way to prevent the old bugs coming back again:
Exported the A03 RTM registry to my PC using Regworkshop as soon as I finished flashing.
Restored a previous backup using spb backup.
Then imported the A03 RTM registry back to X51v.

This enables you to enter a custom AP (Access Point) or Init String into a GPRS setup.

In WM5 when setting up a connection you had the ability of adding these in the extra settings. Under WM6 this Extra Settings menu is not available, hence the "add init" mentioned here.

Great build but, only installed the rom plus extra cabs then I just ran up a few apps (WMP, live, file explorer ect) then stopped them all via memory in settings and it still only leaves me with 21.91 meg, soft reset gives me back the 31.34 meg

Great job on this ROM to football.

One question though. Some other people had some issues with getting the WIFI to work. I am one of them. I can get a wifi-connection to my Linksys router (WPA-TKIP, MAC filter enabled), but I have to try several times before it connects. And only then after playing with manual IP and DNS/WINS settings.

I am very content with this ROM, but it would be even more great if WIFI would connect instantly and flawlessly. Any suggestions?

Keep up the great work and tnx in advance.

Well...after some hours after the installation wifi seems to be pretty stable If I lose the connection the device finds it pretty fast and when softreset I have to turn it back on and sometimes it suddenly works or I have to do another softreset and the second time works for sure.
Something else that I´d like to bring up is that my device shows 51.44 MB of memory, instead of 100 and something.Anybody else see this amount of memory.

Great rom Football and really sweet.

Thanks.

OK, I have made the progression from A91 to the latest RTM. Luckily, I haven't had any of the problems others have mentioned but as a user and not a serious user, I wouldn't see most of those.

I do have a problem that came up in A01 and has persisted through the latest ROM. I have no problem loading and getting TT6 to work on my X51v. But, and it's a big But, if I reset for any reason, I have to load the TT6 program again by erasing the problem and plugging in the CF card again to reload. It loads fine and works great until I have to do a soft reset again.

Anyone else seeing this and if so, have you found a solution.

Thanks,

This is my first post here, so first things first.... To Football: It probably goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway -- you are truly an invaluable member of the PDA community, a demi-God amongst us geeks -- THANK YOU, one hundred times over, thank you.

It's funny, I actually wrote the pocketpctechs.com guys (same guys who do the 128mb ram upgrade) about 10 months ago when 8gb SDHC cards started becoming available dirt cheap and asked them, "How do I upgrade my X51V to accept SDHC cards?" They had no idea, lol. Many on the aximsite.com board believed it couldn't even be done, that the hardware "was probably too old." I haven't made the plunge yet to upgrading yet, but now that 16gb cards are on the market, I can't tell you how much more useful that will make my Axe to me when I upgrade.

BTW Football, what does Donate E854117782251, R901399605704 ,Z978782181732 mean in your sig? Do you have a paypal account, or some other way that appreciative Axim users can make their thanks known a little more directly? Is that what those numbers mean? Anyway, my guess is that any sort of compensation for your efforts are hardly your primary goal, if that's even important to you at all, so I hope you don't mind me asking. I mean, I haven't even upgraded yet, I am just very glad that it's being worked on so much by you and would be happy to "donate" in any way you see fit, if only in recognition of all of your efforts thus far.

----

Anyway Lemark, a dumb question maybe, but you are trying this backup/registry trick when upgrading from a01 or a02, right? I am still using wm5 a12 and I can't imagine that what you're mentioning would work from that, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

I'm thinking my plan at the moment would be to try ao2 next unless I hear that either of the ao3's are reported more stable with wireless, because I really need the wireless. (From all I've read, A03 preview seems decent with wireless but perhaps less stable overall, and early reports suggest a03 rtm may not be as good with wireless but probably more stable with the best overall feature set. I don't need windows live yet, so I think I'll try A02. I also don't currently use any wireless encryption, don't know if that makes a difference in any version)

And beastro, if you are following this thread, I wonder if you have any luck syncing Mysporttraining with a02 if you had tried that first. Maybe a03 rtm fixed that for you, or you found a workaround? Having that program sync with the desktop software is really important to me.

As I didn't wanna install from the scratch, I did like this in a rather stupid way to prevent the old bugs coming back again:

What are the chances of an A04 coming out? I'm still using A01 since it works pretty good for what I want and don't like reinstalling apps constantly. If i were to upgrade to A03, i'd like it to be pretty much a final build.

If not, I can wait another few weeks. Seems everyone is happy with 03 so far though.

Great ROM Football. Thanks a lot, I upgraded from A01 and I didn't have Exchange working and now it does so I am happy!

WiFi with TKIP is still iffy but a soft-reset usually fixes it. It's not a big deal and a small price to pay for the overall performance boost. I must say, though, that this thing, with WiFi on, eats through the battery like anything. My guess is, the battery now lasts maybe an hour fifteen minutes tops with WiFi on and you surfing via PIE (I use PIE+ add-on for PIE--works great).

Does the battery drain sound about right? The CPU is running at 206MHz when on the battery.

Something doesnt sound right to me.. if you updated the rom, the windows registry will be clean again... if you restore the SPB backup, the registry will also be changed to the values of the prevous A03 rom, with all the program data and regkeys.. (but also the bugs as you mentioned)
if you import the A03 RTM registry back, you should get rid of the bugs from A03 preview... but...you still dont have all the program keys in the register. most programs store their licencecodes or some preferences in the register. So if you copy the clean registry back.. i still have to reinstall programms who are registry dependant:D

I have internet connection problem with A03 Preview and A03 RTM.
I have tried the following steps suggested by "huntered":
1) Wireless Power Save Mode --> Disable
2) Disable WLAN to conserve power when battery is low --> Uncheked
3) Turn on WIFI
4) When the WIFI icon start animation, Turn off WIFI
5) Turn on WIFI

Yes, it appeared that I got connected and my PDA device has got a server-assigned ip. But when I use IE to browse, it just told me that the entry is not valid.

Strangely, when I firstly upgraded to A03 RTM and no additional software installed. I can browse with IE once. After I installed some needed software, I can't make it again. Maybe I should have A03 cleanly installed and see if I can browse web.

Additional info: I tried WLAN Utility to ping some site on internet. It showed ping successfully. But IE and DeepFish didn't work. I will try Opera.

After doing that I now have both A03 RTM registries and the serials, settings specific entries on my device. Believe me, I now have all the previous serials and program settings. I'm using it for sometime without any problem, though I haven't tested all the programs installed yet. I'm glad that I've not spent the painful hours of re-installing everything. I think if you restore the new OS registry, it will only replace similar OS registry entries while leaving others intact. That is what happened to my device.
But we still need other people to confirm it.

This is some cool rom, thanks football, U R a star.
For me it is the first time to use a different rom than the one offered by Dell. I am relly impressed. Much faster than my Dell rom (now I can play "virtual pool mobile" with only 206 Mhz: a thing that was almost impossible with wm5). So you save a lot of battery power. The only thing that bothers me is that I cannot restore my personal data such as contacts, etc. Neither with the previous pim file nor with a partial backup using Sprite backup. After restoring personal information only using sprite, the contacts and calendar programs of WM6 rtm are messed up and cannot be used anymore. Unfortunaltely I have no contacts at my outlook. Do you guys know what to do about it and how to restore my pim data (apart from rolling back to WM5 and syncronizing the data with outlook)? Replacing the pim file does not work either. Cheers, 7

Might not be totally useful for you being as I am a Mac user, but to backup my PIM and such, I use the missing sync to syncronize with ical/address book. After upgrading the rom I just force it to override the handheld and poof, back in business.

That is def. one of the major flaws of the WM devices, upgrades/backups.

Hi Football, do you by any chance know how to do this? To recover pim databases? The WM6 internal appl. (backup data) stubbornly refuses to do so and keeps telling me that backup files cannot be found, although I placed them everywhere and tried over and over again. Thanks for your suggestions.

I've been using your ROM releases since A17, Football, so thank you very much. For me, they have worked great. After using A03 preview for a while I just installed A03 RTM, and it is working very well. I just have a couple questions (which are for everyone, of course):

In WM5 there is a registry tweak to adjust the touchscreen sensitivity, but I cannot find it on WM6. It was under HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Drivers\Touch\Pressure Threshold or something like that, but I cannot find a setting that seems to alter the sensitivity. I did find HKEY_Local_Machine\Drivers\BuiltIn\Touch, but no Pressure Threshold setting, or anything like that, just a priority setting. Do you know anything about this, or how I might increase my device's touchscreen sensitivity (so that I won't need to press as hard to run programs, et cetera?) It's not bad, and I'm using a screen protector, but if I could make it even more responsive, that would be great.

There was also a tweak to allow my X51v to appear as a 802.11g device to g-only routers, but I cannot find that under WM6. There is supposed to be a DWORD value under HKey_Local_Machine\Comm\tlnetwln1\Parms\dot11Suppo rtedRateMaskG which should be set to 8. On mine, with WM6 A03 RTM I have HKLM\Comm\TIACXWLN1\Parms\dot11SupportedRateMask, but not dot11SupportedRateMaskG. Again, do you know about this, and how I might set my device to work on routers that are supposed to accept only 802.11g devices?

Ok, one more: Under your previous release, A03 Preview, there was a registry setting which would allow for me to see the clock on the start menu as opposed to the battery icon, but this one also seems to have disappeared. Do you know where it might be now?

What do you think of the various registry tweaks that adjust cache sizes and such?

Anyways, thank you for your help, and thank you, Football, for your wonderful job in making WM6 work on the X51v.

I continue to have problems with reminders and notifications when waking up the Axim from sleep. Alarms will sound and notification windows pop up for Alarms. If I try to run a program after clearing the alarm then I usually find that it will freeze. Reminders will wake the machine but no sound or notification window will pop up if the "notify" sound is used. I have tried to use the Alarm Bug Fix and still. If I try to hit the bell icon up top to call up the notification window I will get the window but no sound. If I dismiss the reminder the Axim will freeze. Soft resets will result in alarms sounding and notification windows popping up. I have converted Alarm 1 Alarm 3 and Alarm 4 to WAV files to use in my alarms. I find that when I use the WAV files I have no such issues. Has anyone else noticed this. Perhaps there is a conflict with the Reminders/Notifications and WMA files. I would rather use the WMA files because they are smaller. At the same time Alarm 5 has also caused me problems and that is a WAV file. At any rate the WAV files I added do not cause me any problems. I have problems with Alarm 5 (WAV) and Notify (WMA).

I have an x51v running WM6 A03 with a Netgear WGR 614 v7 (latest firmware).

1. I can always connect the Axim to the Netgear using WEP with a 40bit key. Hard-reset, soft-reset, power-save. I don't have any issues with this configuration.

2. I have all kinds of problems with WPA and most of the remedies suggested in this and the prior thread have no effect.

3. We have three different devices that can connect to the Netgear using WPA-TKIP with no issues. (One Vista, two XP with seperate WiFi vendors).

I did notice one thing however. If WPA is enabled on the Axim (WM6 A03), 802.1x is always enabled and you can not disable it. 802.1x is used to authenticate LAN clients (wireless or wired) against a third party. It is not required for WPA and most consumer setups will not use it.

I'm wondering if this is all or part of the problem? Does anyone know the registry keys associated with this setting? I'm willing to spend a evening or so trying possible combinations and reporting on the results.

Try using Odessey for WPA. I use it, with a similiar setup as you, and have no problems connecting. The only problem I have experienced is there are times when I have to power off wireless then power it back on in order to connect, but that is no big deal.

I also noticed that 802.1x is always enabled. I also think it may be the source of the internet conncetion problem.

However, even I disabled WPA and WEP on my wireless AP, and got my X51v connected (I can ping successfully), IE still showed that "the address is not valid".

I don't know if this is a ROM problem or a generic WM6 problem but WMP no longer auto-rotates videos in full-screen mode.

Used to be that if I watched a video in the portrait-skin mode and then switched to full screen, the video would auto-rotate to fill the screen.
Now it just switches to full screen but leaves the video in portrait mode with a black border all the way around.
If I switch to landscape mode before starting WMP then the video does fill the screen with no black border when set to full-screen.

So far, this is my only complaint.

Double thumbs-up on an excellent job!!!

It disappears.... and the OFF one does not change to ON one. The ON one is on TOP of the OFF one and you can't see connection quality at all.

Also, the File Explorer add on replaces the original File Explorer icon with a crapp one. I'd like to get the original WM6 one from somewhere...

Has any one else experianced flashing lines across the screen that almost looks like stactic like of the the TV? I started getting it after I flashed to the newest ROM, I've tried to reflash twice, after the initial flashing, but im still getting the same problem. The "static" even showeed up on the boot screen of the firsat REflash. It seemed to get better but now I picked it back up and it was still doing it just a little bit, but enough to scare the crap out of me and let me know I didnt fix the problem even though it made it like 90% better than what it was, At first i couldn't even read the screen it was so bad. Im hoping I had a bad install with a corrupt file or somthing and not that my bassically new X51V is already broken. Im reflashing to the last rom now hopping that might fix the problem, If anyone knows what might be my problem I grately appreciate any advice. Also if this means anyhting it seems to get even worse when im playing music on it and the screen dims, it was looking fine with the back light on but then screwing up everytime that I turned the light off, I could be nothing because other times it was messed up even with the backlight on.

Rotation full screen fix, [HKLM>System>GDI>rotation>LandscapeMode], change the "Dword Data" from 0 to 1. Let me tell you this, their is nothing dumb about about my main man Football, the screen rotation was just a oversight, but you have never in your life made a little oversight on a project, yeah right.........!

On the A03 RTM Rom, I have seen the fussy screen stuff, but on the A03 PR ROM, I have never seen the fussy screen stuff. As far as speed, I'm giving a slight edge to the A03 PR ROM. Shouldnt my PDA be the exact same as everyone elses whos out there? Upgraded from A01 B -> A03 R last night. Transition went smoothly. Love the new wifi/bluetooth icons.

Everything seems to be working perfectly fine including wpa. No problems encountered yet. Seems faster then A01, but probably just being crazy.

Not sure why people with the exact same hardware have wpa problems. Powering on/off the wifi works every single time for me.

Also, if you want to report wpa not working, please read from page 1 of the first thread where it was reported 10000 times since A01.

The file "A03_RTM.rar" is a "rar" which is similar to a "zip" file. This file is an archive of two files compressed.

You'll need something like WINRAR (search google for it) to extract the two files.

Well that is a reasonable guess but I am a purist. It was done on a fresh install and nothing restored from backup other than synchronization with Outlook (6 months worth of data). There may be a corrupt entry in outlook that is repeating this. It may be an issue with the number of appointments I have in the database (a guess). On the other hand, problems with wake up and notifications have been a general issue with the Windows Mobile operating system for some time now--it may have nothing to do with the rom. However, it does not explain why when I use WAV sounds that I have added rather than the built in WMA I have no issue. I have also noticed that if I try to switch back to the WMA "Notify" sound from one of my WAV sounds just switching will lock up the device.

I have also experienced other lock up issues at wake up if I have been working on a TextMaker doc and start again from sleep the PDA will intermittently lock up. I mostly notice the lock ups when I hit the start key to open another program after wakeup and another program is already in background (usually TextMaker). Occasionally the machine will freeze or I will see the spinning wheal telling me the program is loading but no program loads. This also may just be typical Windows Mobile instability but this is a new kind of problem for me. I have developed high tolerance for resets even on the official operating systems. So, some lock ups may be unavoidable and have nothing to do with this build. I need to experiment with other programs and sleep mode/wake up. I first loaded most programs on to the CF card. Then I hard reset then loaded all programs into main memory. Same problem observed in both situations. I am reading docs from my SD card however.

I do not do much with multimedia, it is all business applications that I run and I run several at a time. I get the idea that most here are concerned about WiFi and Media Player issues. For my uses these are working fine. I use my PDA about 6 hours out of every day jotting notes, writing reports, inputting appointments and tasks, and checking email. So, that is the work environment that I am testing the operating system in. As long as it does not go into sleep mode it is rock solid. After sleep mode I am having intermittent problems with lock ups if I have programs running in background during shut off and then turning on (20 minutes later or so). Alarms work fine if I do not use WMA sounds and especially if I avoid the preloaded sounds regardless because Alarm 5 will also lock up intermittently and it is a WAV file. Regarding the alarms I have tried them on the device after a hard reset with nothing but SKTools and Total Commander loaded and still I get the lockups with WMA sounds at wake up. If the alarm/reminder/notification happens while the machine is on there is no problem with the WMA sounds. That has been my experience. I usually have about 5 to 8 appointments scheduled in a day every day plus alarms for the morning.

I have tried other sound therapy programs such as "40 Winks" and "White Noise". They do not work, although they are not from the same developer. I guess there must be something wrong with WM6 or this rom, what do you think? Cheers.

I don't know about the programs you mentioned, but I have brainZapr and it works fine with A03 RTM as also with WM5. Pocketgear offers a trial download if you want to experiment.

Availability of 8GB cards...

Seems to be the Kingston 8GB SDHC Class 4 or Sandisk 8GB SDHC Class 4, anyone using the Integral one 8GB SDHC? Any Class 6 anywhere (UK)?

I currently use a 4GB SD + 8GB CF, would like to replace my SD with the 8GB :). Also need the 8GB for my XDA Exec.

I really don't know what class my A-Data card is, but it's 8GB and it works just fine. Not only that, my 16GB CF card works nicely too. Who would have thought you could have 24GB in your Axim a few years ago. I love this place.

Fixes and programs:

2)Program for A2DP users (download cab).
3)File manager addon (download cab)
4)Windows Live (download .cab)

Drakey- When I first played with my Axim X51v right out of the box and was watching some video, I got the same "static". It filled up most of the screen and wouldn't go away. It freaked the heck out of me. I noticed that it happened when I tried scrolling up and down quickly. It only happens once in a while but I can attest that it did it to me right out of the box with only minor software installed.

I didn't return it to dell because I thought it was just a burp in the OS or something. It only happens once in a while and only when it's video related and I try scrolling up and down. If I do a hard reset, it's fine.

Anyone else had this problem either?

I had somewhat the same issue as yours guys. But it was only experienced when I pressed the Power button to start using it from the sleep mode, and it lasted only for a sec or two. At first, I didn't notice it because it was quickly gone but It kept happening again.
So, I did the HR after backing everything up to see If It helped and If the issue came from the axtra apps that I'd installed. Fortunately, after the HR, things went smoothly again, no crossing lines or whatsoever. That was right at the time I finished the HR, It was a completely fresh device, with the new Football's WM6 of course. So I came to think that maybe the issue was caused by some of the softwares I'd installed. The weird thing here is that with the same apps that I installed on my unit on WM6 A01, I experienced no troubles at all. I guess maybe along the way of installing apps and doing the settings for things, I did something wrong or incompatible with the new OS.
Anyway, I tried to do things from scratch again and now I have no issues with the new and great Wm6 by Football. Guess it comes from software incompatibility.

Football, once again great job. I'm now using your A03 RTM rom and it's purely magical. A03 Preview was just as good but WMP would crash when skipping tracks (f**k an ipod, my Axim's been my music since the X5, before that, Jornada 520). But now here's my tiny weenie issue, (Open Question to all). Windows live won't sync my mail. I've tried a few different versions, but i always get a "failed to sync email error" . Any suggestions? Thanx

Drakey83,

I remember reading that if you try to load a ROM without the correct CRC file
it will give a message AND give the correct CRC number.

Then all you have to do is write down that number and create a text file with
ONLY that number inside and give it the correct name.

Might be all you need to do to get the official DELL ROM to work.

I have the 'A03-RTM' installed and am enjoying it with NO ISSUES AT ALL so far.

But, I remember seeing a post about a new version of 'Odyssey Client'.

So, I checked the change log and discovered this:

NOTE: 'OAC' == 'Odyssey Access Client' is text below

"""
Resolved Issues in version 4.51

The following issues reported in previous releases of Odyssey Client
for Windows Mobile are resolved in Version 4.51. The identifier
following the description is the bug tracking number.

1. Leaving the 'Detailed Status' dialog open causes OAC to hang.
(BUG008761)

2. OAC quarantines the adapter and keeps the adapter locked down.
(BUG008667)

3. EAP-FAST phase 0 fails when attempting to use a "saved" password.
(BUG008265)
"""

Is it possible that 'issue 2' could be the cause of some problems?
Has anyone tried this version?

I 2. OAC quarantines the adapter and keeps the adapter locked down.

I was going to ask a question about Odyssey, then I saw your post and it may be related. I think my WLAN adapter is locked down after using odyssey.

I tried the odyssey client to see if i could connect to a site with LEAP. After "playing" with it, I wanted to go back to using just Dell WLAN tool, but I no longer can connect unless Odyssey is connected. I did he "Disable Odyssey" thing in Odyssey, Got the message "Please turn off (or remove) your wireless NIC and turn it back on before using any other wireless network software." I did that, but the wireless wont detect any networks now without reactivating Odyssey.

Anyone know how I can kill Odyssey without resorting to a hard reset. I'm using wm6 A03RTM.

Look in the \Windows\Startup folder for an Odyssey link.
I think it's odclientce.exe or something like that.
Just delete it and then do a soft-reset.
That should stop Odyssey from starting.

Already did that.

The problem isn't that Odyssey is running, rather it looks like the WLAN adapter is trying to use odyssey to connect even though it is not running. Before using OAC, I would turn on WLAN, the green light blinks, I would see the icon showing that it is scanning for a network, then it connects. Now after trying odyssey, I turn on WLAN, light blinks, icon stays steady with wireless off icon, no connect. (Soft reset does nothing.)

you may want to remove odClientCE.exe from windows folder.
nav to windows folder (make sure all files are visible) and find the odClientCE.exe and replace it with a text document that you make on your PC by R-click->New->text doc....leave blank and name it odClientCE.exe...
say YES to warning about changing file extension.
copy this file to windows->Yes to overwrite
If this doesn't work for you after a soft reset...you can nav to odClientCE.exe and delete it-> softrest and the original odClientCE.exe will be restored....i think

Updated from A12 to A03 RTM. Flash update went fine. No attempt to restore from a backup to avoid registry corruption. Hit WPA-TKIP connection problem but turn-off trick before failure then turn-on worked as advertised.

Positives:
- WLAN while docked with Activesync running as expected for WM6
- Opera works MUCH better with WM6
- new email setup is improved
- MissingSync 4 works well with it

With WPA workaround, really no need to go back to WM5.

Thanks Football.

Thanks for the help, but my problem is not that. Odyssey is not running, and does not run at startup. (Confirmed via memmaid) I disabled Odyssey. The problem is that my WLAN appears to still be trying to use Odyssey for connecting even though it is not enabled. Its as if Odyssey changed something when I enabled it, and it did not let go when I disabled it. Unless there is a registry setting or something, it looks like I'm going to have to reset in order to get the wlan working.

I have seen many problems mentioned about excessive power drain after
flashing to one of the A03 ROMs.

At one point I had a similar experience but after searching my settings I
found that it was either 'ActivSync', 'email', or 'messaging' that was
continuously trying to connect and update.

After I had found whatever was constantly trying to connect and disabled
it the problem never returned.

I can't imagine anything in any of the ROMs that could cause excessive
power drain; so it must be a setting that has been overlooked by the users
after flashing the ROM and setting up their email, messaging, ActiveSync etc.

Double-check those applications for any and all 'automatic' tasks and disable
them to see if that is the source of the problem.

-------- EDIT, update -------
I have confirmed this bug; see my Post #189 on page 19 of this thread

I do not know if this problem is occured only on my x51v-WM6 A03 RTM, but can you check please the following behavior?

In Notes or File Explorer I can not delete item by using of context menu "Delete" option. Only way how to delete it is going to the Menu on bottom right and delete such item.
When I try to delete item through context menu in Notes, then Notes terminates immediately but item is not deleted.
The similar behavior is in Bluetooth explorer, when I want to delete a file on the remote bluetooth device, after activating the context menu, this menu has damaged content, there is a lot of empty lines and delete does not work.

Do you have the similar problems ?

3 Battery stats sometimes dont work , even if its not plugged it shows that it is.
4 the processor is always @624Mhz even if its not doing anythin...
5 powerbutton even if its set to dim/light the display it turns off the AXIM
6 Beams (IR) dont work
7 Encryption dosnt work....
8 Mirror mode dosnt work ... it only flashes both screens...
9 Internet sharing.. well it works but only for like 10 mins no more.. after that the AXIM needs a soft-reset.
and finally....

im not sure if these bugs are caused by other programs (wisbar advance 3 and/or wisbar advance desktop)

one time when i soft-reset my axim the screen was shifted to the left, you could only see half of it and it was all blurry. I just soft-reset it again and it worked fine.

right now, the newtwork button on the top bar of the axim doesn't refresh properly, it shows i am disconnected when i am connected and sometimes it shows the symbol for activesync when i am not activesycing.
these bugs might be cause by wisbar but i am not sure

Sat117 if you think WM6 A03 es very bad, why don't you make a better ROM and leave to be so critical???

The ROM could not be perfect, but it's better than you say and i think a good part ot your bugs aren't A03 problem.

At least the rest of users don't have that problems.

Sat117 the South Pole Dell Axim version X51e will not work with the A03 RTM ROM, it only works with X51v. Mr. Hardan, you took the words right out of my mouth. Thanks for the wifi fix guys, it even worked on my MDA running cooked wm6 ROM.

right now, the newtwork button on the top bar of the axim doesn't refresh properly, it shows i am disconnected when i am connected and sometimes it shows the symbol for activesync when i am not activesycing.
these bugs might be cause by wisbar but i am not sure

If you're running WisBar 3.0.0.1 or 3.0.0.2 then its most likely WisBar.
My network icon was always wrong with those versons.
3.0.0.3 was released yesterday and it works better for me.
You should give it a try.

Hi all,
I have installed the A03 RTM copy of the rom, I think it is very good and thanks to Football and others for their efforts.
I do have a problem which I hope someone else could verify. I have noticed if my Wifi is switched on and I basically power down the Axim (using power button) that the green light still flashes. I have the power button set to switch the Axim off.
I use WEP, the only reason for this is I have some bridged routers and this is all they would support (WPA is not an option).

Once I have got into the green led flashing state and the screen is black, I can no longer power on the Axim. A hard reset or battery removal is the only answer.
Has anyone else experienced this ?
:)

WMV playback really sucks if you use WMP but its fine with TCPMP or CorePlayer.
That is my only complaint and everything else works great.
I'll even bet that the WMV thing is inherent to WM6 and has nothing to do with football's ROM.
Go for it!

I recently bought my second Axim. My first is a x50v which I am playing around with using MagLites ROM. The new is a x51v that I flashed to WM5 A12. This one is quite stable, but as time goes on, I want to upgrade it to Football's A03 RTM. My questions are as follows:

1. Do I only need the A03 RTM Rom or are there any other files or ROMs i need to install before this one?
2. Since I am quite dependent on having a stable Axim at work, I might need to convert it back to wm5 A12 if Wm6 becomes unstable. Is this possible using Dell's original A12 ROM?

(Thank you, Football, for this amazing ROM)

well lo0ks like the A03 rom is really bad....
its maknig my AXIM to have problems with the display
it starts fliping on all the programs @ the buttumn part....

it only happens with this A03 one...
i think im goin 2 go back to windows mobile 5 or maybe the 1st rls.

and i found some huge bugs too...

1 memory Lake if you open "Home"...etc, <snip>

So you think you had problems, Sat117? Well, I didn't even have A03 RTM loaded on my Axe 5 minutes when it started to make a strange hissing sound. I'm like, wtf? I was on the other side of the room at the time, but Whiskers was nearer to it and went over to investigate. She was about 6 inches away from it when all of sudden it started to make a really LOUD whining sound, like it was a phaser set to overload....and then BOOOOM!! My Axim exploded and took out the cat! And my right eye, too! The fireball was f'ing huge! I was lucky to get out alive. It started a fire that not only wasted my house, but has taken out dozens of others along with 70,000 acres of woodland and it's still burning! What's even worse, I passed out in the ambulance and had a dream where Satan came to me and said that I was now going to hell no matter what, all because I chose to load football's rom!! The moral of the story? If you love your cat, like seeing with both eyes, don't want to turn your corner of the world into a charred wasteland, and would rather not be condemned to suffer in Hell for all eternity, then you'd better not even dare to try football's A03 RTM rom!!!

DAMN YOU FOOTBALL, DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!!

---

Haha, OK, seriously now -- I really appreciate the fact that football is working on wm6 for x51vs. And I think that anyone who posts in a disgusted tone like Sat117 without even a word of thanks just doesn't have a clue.

Are there going to be bugs? Probably. But there are bugs in A12, too. It's just up to everyone to try it if they want, and if they come up with a problem that's a deal-breaker, then rolling back to any rom is easy enough.

When I have time later this week I'm going to try it myself. (FWIW, I will post a full review of my experiences with AO3 as soon as I can) Why bother upgrading? Well I don't even have an SDHC card yet, but if the upgrade goes well I'm going to snag myself one of the new 16gb cards. Do you know they've already announced a 32gb card? How cool will having an extra 28gbs over the existing 4gb SD card limit be? Toss in a 32gb compact flash card which will probably be around soon enough too, and you have yourself a 64gb machine that can carry around dozens of movies (without having to convert them), and allows you to carry around a very sizable chunk of your music collection, too. Not to mention all the photos, ebooks and anything else you want with you too. All in your shirt pocket. There are plenty of other good reasons to want a WM6 rom that does the job, but the promise of future-proofing my Axe for the next couple of years with SDHC upgrades is probably the biggest reason why I'm on board with all of this. Last year it really killed me to see those cheap "incompatible" SDHC 8gb cards pop up that didn't cost much more than 4gb SDs. Knowing now that a 16gb upgrade could be right around the corner is pretty damn cool.

The bottom line is that football has been hard at work on these Axim roms for over 6 months now and he has made admirable progress. This is not a team of software engineers working full time on this folks -- that's never going to happen. Basically all you have is one very smart kid doing this in his spare time.

Football, please try not to pay too much attention to those who'd rather bitch and moan, it's easy to see that almost all of us here really appreciate your efforts. (Also due props to Vagus, gunboat, and everyone else who has made the plunge to beta test these roms so far, keep at it -- the life you save may very well be my cat's :D)

BOOOOM!! My Axim exploded and took out the cat! :D)

Yep the cat problem is a known issue. Hard reset did it for me.

All kind words, free dinners, and a string of green lights go to Football for his kindness and generosity.

I really like the ROM. I was having problems with lock ups with alarms that no one else was having but salved that with using WAV files. I still do not know what is going on with that. WMA files will not play for alarms. I had other lock up issues that I found to be related to the known ActiveSync issues. I did the fake server trick but I left AS on minimize with my Wisbar settings. It was running in the background when disconnected and that messes things up. I would imagine that is what is happening with those who complain of battery drain.

A12 was a real problem for me. People complained of screen corruption problems with that ROM as well as alarm issues and lock-ups. I must say that WM6 is better WM5 and that Football is better than Dell. The price is right too.

Well... after some tests... i finally fixed the AXIM screen error...

All I ad to do was go back for the original DELL ROM (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/download.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&releaseid=R129272&SystemID=PDA_AXIM_X51&os=PPM&osl=en&deviceid=7643&devlib=0&typecnt=2&vercnt=3&formatcnt=1&libid=7&fileid=172104)

And turn off the device for 24hrs.

It fixed both bugs..
the screenshoot thing on the back and the flip

The other bugs.. well i found out wierd that using the DELL ROM and Windows Server 2003 i can access to the Windows Dir on the AXIM so i was checking some files and i notice that some drivers are missing on the WM06 ROM from Football...

I will try to make a RIP and then make the installer of those drivers (WIFI /BT /IR) to fix the IR bugs...

As for OneNote.. welll after i installed the 6.1 Version of Office it got a even bigger bug..

If you start any Office App (6.1) mamory runs out and you can get it back only by using a soft-reset.

so i recommend to not install this update.

I saw something else..
i went back the to 1st WM6 from Football and well it dosnt have that huge memory lake that A03 has...

Im not a mobile device developer , im a .NET Developer and i can tell that A03 got a lil error on the complie...

looks to me that one of the apps (Explorer i think) got a not closed braket and thats what is making the lake...

The Batt stats i found a reg way to fix it... i was checking the A17 and i found one thing missin on the A03 i will post the fixed reg file too..
(as soon as i test that the error wont comeback)

Encryption bug..
well this is a hard one. because all the versions seems to have it...

so i was hoping that someone else could try to use it.
i dont know if its my card (file formart or something) or the ROMS
so please can someone try to Encrypt the files on the SD card?

if this dont work well its a rom bug and i will contact Microsoft to see what i can do.

Internet sharing bug..
I called Microsoft.( Thanks to ARD Corp we work really close) and they told me that it can be fixed using a regfix and driver update (missing drivers from dell) so i will try it out again once i rip the dell drivers.

The processor bug..

Ok heres the thing all the WM6 ROMS seem to have this problem
and if the processor is allways @ max speed the batt will die faster

Microsoft said that it can be fixed by setting the state to normal and then apply a reg fix (i will post it too) to make windows mobile to run on a HighPerformance state but without using the full power.

They callit a hack to the reg on the device.
They say that the AXIM is like using a normal Pentium 3 pc and so with WM6 or 7 it can be triked to work in virtual mode (without using to much mem or batt)

The powerbutton is a bad reg setting too so i will post the fix for it too..

And the Microsoft guys (Greg) said that he uses the same ROM as i do and many of this bugs he got them too.
but he also said that if you can install the Mobile .NET Framework 2 you can fix those without having to make all this regfixes (Because the .NET can access to the reg and change the settings from a single application)
He told me he is working on one right now and he will give it to me once he finishes.

and for all the ppl that says that i only speak bla bla bla

well let me tell you something getting tons of bugs from a product is not nice
but its better if you say whats wrong than keeping it for yourself.

That way we can fix those problems and make better software.

And if you ever read i said at frist that this A03 was awesome because is faster and stuff and yes it is go0d

however.. to many bugs and missing things are not good
and well i never heard of the AXIM x51e
i dont even know if that is real or not
but i dont have that thing

i have the x51v thats why im reporting all the bugs that i found..

and as for "Why you dont make one"
well... for one thing im not a mobile developer and i have no plans on becomeing one so yea...

but i bet that if i do my own windows mobile 6 ROM (wich i wont do) it will be bassed on the Windows Mobile 6 ROM from Microsoft not a wierd migration from the Dell ROM (becasue those ROMs are old and it may not work as they should if you change the apps or copy from older builds)

i was even thinking on use the Dell ROM installer and install the SDK Version on WM6 lol!

but i dont know what it will do or it will work
(im not a mobile developer)
so yea for you guys that think that im a hater or something

Im not , in fact in helping Football by saying what error i get and why.
and im helping even more because im trying to find a solution for it.

so dont hate and if you find a bug no matter how small it is
REPORT IT!!!

so everyone can help to fix it

Now that you have explain yourself, I can now feel where were you are coming from now. Bug Confirmation: I too am experiencing the forementioned bug where processor speed runs at 624MHz even when system idle process is at 100% (i.e. axim isn't doing anything) I still love the ROM and Football you are truly an ill337 h^x0R! It's nice to know that the WPA wifi thing got fixed, I havn't tested it, but i will probably use it in the future. Also, no one replyed to my question about scrolling, so I'll ask again in case anyone shares my problem and didn't see it. In all the WM6 roms and perhaps in WM5 A017 I have had very slow scrolling in certain programs. Kind of like opera when it is loading a huge webpage. This can drive me nuts when I am trying to scroll through text as I read. Anyone else noticing this?

There was a replacement .dll posted about 3-4 pages back that works.

For those who can't seem to replace the .dll due to permissions, I copied it to my SD card and then replaced it on the device using resco explorer.

Also, I would soft reset beforehand to make sure the device isn't using wifi or the dll before replacing. That might be a problem.

I have also noticed that everything is working pretty well. No problems to report so far. (Though I don't do a whole lot on my axim program-wise).

I did notice that I hate excel mobile. Aparantly M$ thought it is a good idea to force saving, so if you open a file and then close it, it actually saves the file. Excel mobile is also incapable of doing alot of basic formula, due to this it automatically converts a formula to a full decimal value. So now, you have your formula automatically converted to numerical values, if you exit it saves those changes, and on the next sync it overwrites your desktop version..

Firstly, thanks Football and everyone for the good work, finally took the plunge with r03-RTM and it works extremely well so far, esp with the wifi fix applied :)

Not sure why the battery drain is occurring, but I've not experienced this myself and almost always leave the PPC in standby when not in use. Was the wifi or bluetooth left on.... would that have any effect?

I've done the fake server trick, and always turn wifi & bluetooth off before hitting the power off button, and rarely leave it in the cradle/charger overnight.

Hi Cgs,

I think this is the same problem I found. Basically if the WiFi conection is left on and the Axim is powered down (either automatically or by using the power button). You cannot restart the axim unless you do a reset or disconect the battery.

I think the power drain is due to the Wifi still being on, the green light still flashes.

To be honest it is something I can live with as the ROM is excellent in other respects, you just have to remember to switch wifi off before powering down.

Cheers

I noticed my battery is draining much faster on A03. But then at 1% it can sometimes last for 30 minutes.
Alse after aprox. 2 hours I get the message the device has to go into sleep mode, because battery is to low, and it switches of after 10 sec.
Now, when I charge it for a few minutes, it works again for at least another 30 minutes. So I think there is a problem with reading the % of battery left...

But:
- I use battery pack pro (maybe this is causing the problem?)
- my X51v is nearly 2 years old (maybe my battery is worn)

When I first installed A03-RTM I remember NOT having the power drain problem.

But over the last couple of days it occurred to me that I was on AC power when
I went into standby mode and then I disconnected from AC.

So I conducted an experiment:
This morning I went into standby only AFTER removing from AC and the battery
was still up at the end of the day.

Could anyone comment on whether they are on battery power or AC power
when going into standby?

The internal clock resets everytime after changing battery. Need a fix.

Sorry to hear that dude, but it's not the rom. It's your Axim that is broken. Mine is suffering the same fate since a year now. If you are still on warranty (if such a thing still exists), send it back as soon as possible.

I sounds like the real time clock battery is dead. Not much you can do except get it replaced.

x51v hasnt got a clock battery. It has got a capacitor for to save date time durring batery changes.
There are many x15v have got this capasitor defect. Search dell and aximsite forums about this situation. I dont know, the capasitor has a life period or not. But if x51v has warranty, dell would replace it. My old x51v has this problem too, Dell replaced it with a new one (refurbished)

Ok, after being on standby all night the Axim started this morning with 98% remaining.

As I mentioned in my previous post the only difference is that I made sure to
disconnect from AC power BEFORE going into standby.

I will continue to test this by:
- going into standby while connected to AC then disconnecting from AC
- disconnecting from AC first then go into standby

-----
And to answer questions from others about leaving WiFi or something else 'on',
there is no chance of that. I am very clear about turning everything off when I
am finished using it, (just as others with this problem have done).
There is clearly something going on in the system.

When WiFi ON and BT OFF, how quickly does your battery drain?

Within 5 minutes of use I lose 10% of battery charge and I have a 2200 battery.
Thats with CONSERVE power in WiFi settings as well.

Sprite Backup scheduled backups are not working correctly. Sprite does not wake up the machine correctly. It will not start until I turn the machine by the power button. So, I may set the program to back up at 01:30. My morning alarm goes off at 05:30 (internal wake up of the Axim) and I see sprite has not started yet. I turn off the machine and then turn on by the power button and then Sprite will start the back up automaticly.

There is something goofy about how it is waking up. As I have said in prior posts my system will not play WMA sounds and will lock up on wakeup if Alarms or Reminders are set to WMA sounds. If the machine is full powered on I get no such lock ups. If I set the alarms and reminders to WAV files I have not problem. Again this is an issue with wake up. Since this problem is only happening on my machine I have tried serveral experiemts. It does not happen on a fresh system after hard reset with no calandar database loaded so it may be a conflict with something in my calandar database. It does not happen at first after the database is loaded. My calandar database is 6 months of appointments-perhaps the size has an effect on the wake up. I am not sure why the type of sound would matter but it does.

Yep, Same thing is happening to me - Occasionally looses Network Key - works fine when re-entered, but have also noticed a tendency for the WiFi On/Off to lockup requiring Power Off/On to get going again.

In general though - Great work Football!

I use mine as a satnav as it's main job, so it's in-car powered, and I usually power-off into standby while the car is still powering it. BT gets turned on/off authmagically by TomTom.

So far, power drain hasn't affected mine, regardless of how it's powered when I turn it on/off.

regards
Dave

When I first installed A03-RTM I remember NOT having the power drain problem.

But over the last couple of days it occurred to me that I was on AC power when
I went into standby mode and then I disconnected from AC.

So I conducted an experiment:
This morning I went into standby only AFTER removing from AC and the battery
was still up at the end of the day.

Could anyone comment on whether they are on battery power or AC power
when going into standby?

I will do this again tonight and see what I have in the morning.

Just had an unexpected thing happen:

I have always needed 'Odyssey Client' to connect to my wireless router.

Even after installing the 'fix' by vagus I still needed 'Odyssey'.

Just for fun I installed the new version of 'Odyssey Access Client v4.51'.

Well, it stated that I couldn't use it since I didn't have the license, (just as expected), so I uninstalled it.

After restarting the Axim I was checking to make sure that everything was
still working and the 'WLAN' connected immediately; before I could startup 'Odyssey', (the old original version).

So, I seems that the new version of 'Odyssey' did something to solve the 'WLAN' problem of connecting without 'Odyssey'.

--------
Now I am wondering if all along the original 'Odyssey Client' had 'locked' the adapter somehow, (as stated in the 4.51 fix log), and the new version released it. No matter, I am happy I connected without 'Odyssey'.

Just thought someone would like to hear about it :)

There is a lot that I like about this ROM. When running it seems quite stable, fast, and battery life seems to be better than the Dell ROM that I had on it.

However, I find about 75% of the time on power on it locks up and I have to do a soft reset to get it going. After the reset it seems to run well.

The other issue that I have is syncing it up. I sync to 2 different PCs, 1 running Vista, 1 running Win XP. It usually fails to sync on first connecting the cable, but most of the time dis-connecting and re-connecting will allow it to connect. Occaisionaly I have to do a soft reset to get it to connect.

When it does finally connect, the sync fails every time on either PC. The message that I get in the Sync Error message is "Synchronization could not be completed. Try again later." I find that when connected I can install apps and copy files to and from the Axim. But I can not get it to sync with Outlook at all. This one is a deal breaker for me. I haven't seen anyone else reporting problems syncing with Outlook. Is it just me? Are there some settings that I just missed? I really would like to get this ROM to work.

One thing that I found that is quite odd that may or may not be related is that the Device name gets changed on the Axim randomly. I haven't figured out any pattern yet but it seems to happen most often when changing the sync from one PC to the other. The name that it wants to change it to is WINDOWSMOBILE## where ## is some random 2-digit number.

Any suggestions?

In a previous reply I said that 'new Odyssey' may have reset my WiFi adapter so that I can now connect using 'WLAN' without using 'Odyssey'.

Well, today I couldn't connect with WLAN only so I tried clicking on the WiFi icon at the top of the screen and clicked on the 'Turn off flight mode'.

Both the WiFi and Bluetooth radios were switched on so I turned off the Bluetooth and left the WiFi running.

After that I am again able to connect to my router without using 'Odyssey'.

The mystery continues

NOTE:
For some reason the message never changes from 'Turn off flight mode' no matter how many times I have clicked it.

here is some help from previous posts my friend

================================================== =======
The X51v has a Bootloader.

1. Copy the files to be loaded into ROM to an SD card.
2. Insert card.
3. Hold down RESET + ON/OFF + WIRELESS simultaneously
4. Release ONLY Wireless
5. Bootloader executes, (release RESET and ON/OFF) identifying the files on the SD card to be loaded.
6. Click Action Button within timelimit to load to ROM.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Download ROM, decompress files to your PC
2) Copy DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM6_A01EN_nb0.crc and DiAd_K_AximX51v_WM6_A01EN.nb0 into root of FAT32 SD-Card
3) Insert SD Card into Dell Axim
4) Press Wireless + Power + Reset ... for start SD Image Loader.
5) Press action key twice
6) After the process is finished, press Power + Reset (HardReset).

First of All thanks football, This really great work. (thanks again for english version)

I collected all links that I find in one page. And I prepared and added to the page, Dell A12EN Rom for the users who wanna went to back.

Do these links point to the latest and greatest build? I've seen no confirmation or challenge to this post, other than Footballs slow scrolling IE fix.

We just need a confirmation that this is the correct build with the latest additional patches.

Thanks guys and gals, running great here.

I had the exact same problem and Sprite Customer Service said it was an unknown problem. They gave me the usual newbie instructions and I lost patience and now use SKTools. It works, but isn't as flexible in terms of selecting what you want backed up. My problem started when I switched from Dell A12 to Footballs A17 (WM5). So whatever the problem is, it seems to have carried through. One of the reasons I gave up is that Sprite would likely not spend too much time helping em once they realized it's a nonstandard ROM - they'd claim it's the ROM's fault.

IE6 back button bug : Official fix from Lingvosoft
Requirements: IE6 (wm5 AKU 3.5.2 or any wm6) plus Lingvosoft dictionary
http://forum.ppcwarez.org/download.php?id=2313.http://forum.ppcwarez.org/download.php?id=2471

More Info: If you install a Lingvosoft dictionary on your PDA, then your internet explorer exits when you click "back" button. This is the fix for it.
http://www.lingvosoft.com/posts/list/7921.page
Please perform a soft reset of your PDA and do the following:
Launch the File Explorer, go to Windows folder and [b]delete these two files if they are available:
ft_ctxm3.dll and ft_ctx5.dll .
After that please download this file: ftp://81.3.156.146/FT_ctx.arm.CAB
Transfer the cab file from your PC to PDA, find it on your PDA through the File Explorer and launch them
just tapping on them with stylus. Once it's unpacked please perform a soft reset and launch our software and Internet Explorer after that.
Download Instructions: http://rapidshare.com/files/60459421/FT_ctx.arm.CAB.html

My suggestion: I think, this fix must be included in the first post of every wm5 AKU 3.5.2 or any wm6 upgrade. People thinks that this is an upgrade bug, but this is a Lingvosoft bug. This was one of important reasons for not to upgrade.

Clearly, Football has done much good with this ROM and I am not complaining. At the same time I think it may be a rom problem due to the fact that Sprite worked ok with A12. I think it may be a wake up issue. In 2003SE there was an intermittent wake up problem and a tweak for it to full power wake up. I have tried to use the same tweak with this system and to no affect. What is clear is that if the machine is turned on manually Sprite works fine. Also, I have noticed that when the machine is fully on I have no problem with my alarm WMA sounds locking up the machine. Unfortunately I do not know how to make it wake up to full power.

Been seriously interested in being able to use SDHC on my x51v for a while. Decided to upgrade to WM6 rtm03. I've installed all the additional updates on page one, and have had very few issues.

-Wireless with WPA-PSK didn't work until I installed the fix. Now I can get online AND be secure!
-Email has synced w/ no problem.
-File manager is OK, although I'll probably move back to Resco.
-No stability issues thus far.
-Have noticed the battery life is a little shorter than A12 ROM. But for the benefits of WM6 I have very little complaint. Battery life improved when I disabled "Recieve all incoming beams." Also did the fake server trick.

A couple minor issues and questions:
-I am looking into buying an SDHC card. Is there a limit to the size (8gb vs. 16gb)? Has anyone verified 16gb works?
-Anyone else use PocketMusic with the AAC plugin? Whenever I attempt to play an AAC file, I only get about 1 second of sound, then the sound disappears. If I attempt to re-play the AAC, often PocketMusic will crash. MP3's work fine. Anyone see a similar issue? I've emailed PocketMind, but haven't heard back yet.

Altogether, THANKS Football. Beautiful work.

I sync with 2 computers and one of them is very finicky.
Sometimes it connects and sometimes it doesn't.
Sometimes it syncs and sometimes the sync doesn't complete.
Sometimes it disconnects about 1 minute after connecting.

The other computer syncs first time every time.

I am therefore convinced that any syncing issues have nothing to do with this ROM and everything to do with the host computer or with Mircosoft's famously inconsistent ActiveSync.

My friend has the Navigon 6.2 Navigation system running in his x51v(WM5) with the entire European Map(1.8GB) in a No bland 4GB CF card and is very happy with its rich functionalities. I have also x51v, am thinking of buying the software but are hesitant due to extremely long time required for initial route calcuration when a driving distance is relatively long like 500 Km. It takes 5-7 minutes. The Sbp Benchmark result for the CF card is 2.15 MB/s(Reading 1 MB file test).

Would you advise me on whether I can drastically reduce the calcuration time, if I install WM6 and buy a 8GB CF card claiming 40MB/s transfer speed or a SDHC class6 card? Does anyone have Sbp Benchmark results performed with those cards in x51v(WM6)?

I have 3 axim x51v all flashed with Fottball's ROM.
Only one give problem.
The other two worked perfectly-both synchronising and wifi with multiple computers and different networks.
The problematic one is the one with 'date time reset' problem.
This is also the oldest.
Skyscape program pics does not display well unless page scrolled.
Pocket informant display occasionallly overlaps- not ROM problem.
The display problem was present with wm2005 non DEll ROM.
The wifi is picky, it works erratically and need Odessey client occasionally.
The synchronising with vista is as erratic but not with win XP.
It aslo has the battery cover contact problem with 2200 extended battery.

The problem is not Football's ROM; many a time is probably other software and the x51v or the synchronising computer, the wifi router firmware may not be fully compatible.....

There might be a bug or two here and there; but generally it is a very good ROM, better than the initial dell ROM's

Football did a fantastic job.
Thanks for the new life for my axims.

Great release!

As others have mentioned, WPA (I actually use WPA2 on my network) doesn't work. Also, when I installed TomTom 6, it installed, but did NOT put an icon in my "Programs" list or Start menu, making it impossible to run without going to the file browser. It also prevented the TomTom Today plugin from working. I was able to fix the problem by browsing to the .exe file, tap-holding on it and selecting "add to "programs" menu option. After that I could add it to the Start menu, the Today plugin started working...

Also, is there a way to remove the 2 softkeys at the bottom of the screen? I have a "Contacts" and "Calendar" soft buttons right above the actual buttons....pretty useless for me, and takes up screen real estate.

I uses SBSH iLauncher - it is excellent
You can set up Icons on Today Screen and change them to what you want
It also gives the option to change the soft keys
I have one set to a calculator (Megasoft 2000 PocketCalc v2.2.1) and New... which has Word, Exel, Notes, Appointment, Task, Contact, and Message.
Plus you can add Icons to the row with the Bluetooth and WiFi icons.
I have also tried pocket plus but find iLauncher to be better especially because you can change program icons on today screen - I have a couple of Skyscape programs and without iLauncher they would all look the same
Give it a try I think you will like it.
