And it was a promotional gift and actually, the thing I like about it is the performance of the dual processor which makes the multitasking amazing. The other thing is the gps is awesome it is something that will make your head spin. Camera quality is also nice and with 3g its a beast and with the network enhancement coming soon it will be a phone to contend with.

What could be so nice about an integrated GPS chip that will make our heads "spin" ?
In my opinion integrated GPS, means I don't have to carry an extra gadget
with me... that's it.

kind of a stretch to call it a "dual core" processor
i think it would be more accurate to say it's got one processor for the windows mobile side, and one processor for the radio side

Wow... that was insightful. I don't mean to be a jerk, but you realize that the Tilt is a crippled version of the Kaiser (4550) and they've been out for a while. Unless you have something to offer like an official release date or what it has that the Kaiser doesn't, this thread may as well be closed. We *ALL* already know what the Kaiser is and what the Tilt lacks.

Yeah. It would be best to describe it as a "radio coprocessor".
It will probably result in zero improvement if not transferring data, very little if you're on an EDGE network. Probably the only situation one would notice any significant difference would be HSDPA.

No i noticed better performance all around from the radio after getting my Kaiser it makes the web load faster and emails send quicker! this should have been done in the hermes! I wuld say web pages load twice as fast! It almost feels like HSUPA has already been rolled out here in NYC with how fast this thing uploadeds.

That is why he originally posted this in the Hermes Forum thinking no one would move it to the kaiser section. Whoops time to post it in the Nokia section maybe you can impress someone there.....

Geez, maybe we should have a public flogging for this guy LOL. "The thread is titled "at&t tilt is all I thought and more" considering hes the first to get one that I have heard of I am glad to hear some things confirmed such as gps. I for one appreciate his posting some feedback on a device we with at&t are waiting for. Im simply saying give the guy a break and let him enjoy his new phone.

Your probably right Sw but if you look at some of his other posts he claims to be an Att mgr but he bought an 8525 and than bought a Rom off ebay than asked how to include Ptt in the Rom so he could tell the office the next day. So maybe thats the way AT&T works but I kind of doubt it. So there lies my skeptisism.

Roms in any company are not released to all in the company until tech support runs them on a trial basis. If you purchase your on device you can change the roms as you see fit, otherwise the one the company gives you is for company use. Read the part.. I just thought I would tell everyone that it is coming out because I like this site. You guys are treating me like I am misinforming you due to any company policy it is not in anybody's interest to release other details. I have a family to take care of telling all about it could jepardize my job. If I knew that I would get this response I would have never posted. Well I hope whenever you get one to all those complaining that you enjoy it and as far as the dual processor goes that is the way it was positioned to us. And for your knowledge point of view I have a bs in CIS/Math if I had time I would right my own roms, hacks, etc. But when you have kids other things come to mind. And as I said I use this sight for a reference I don't have THE TIME to right and test my own roms. Thanks for making a new guy feel welcome though. (Sorry about the spelling wasn't happy with reads on the post) But :D when it comes down to it I still have a tilt:D

roms arent available to everyone in the company... well they are, but you have to be smart enough to know where to find them... chances are that 99% of att wireless employees dont know where to find the pre-public roms.. they arent beta, but their not public either.. and even being a manager doesnt mean you get your phones for free, hell employees deals arent all that great..

Thank you, but can you tell us(or me) if the GPS is locked to using only a specific software or can it be used by any navigation software i.e. Tom Tom?

what does every carrier do to a device (????) you know the answer. and why would you want to use tom tom when you have to pay when new maps are available where telenav automatically updates you??

Well b/c I can get TT maps for free thats the reason why. Im not going to be paying for a service(monthly),what TeleNav does, to use GPS which is free. A one time fee for software is good enough for me. Additionally I can always use windows live or google maps, thats pretty much up to date & free!

TeleNav sounds great and all, but I much prefer a free standing GPS app that works even when there is no phone signal, all over the US/Canada, like iGuidance. Are you saying that I couldn't run it on the Tilt?

i have been trying to get google maps gps to work with the tilt but i cant get it to work. I set it to com 4 and baud 4800 manually and it still doesnt work. any ideas? i heard you need to jump start it with tt or tele nav. the phone comes with telenav so I downloaded the demo but it doesnt have gps features :( any help?

I have and still do use telenav on my 8525 and it's ok but if you lose service you also lose telenav which does happen plus it's 10 bucks a month. I now have a TyTN ll and I have the TT taster with the one map and will try it out for a little. I have not figured out how you get the rest of the maps quite yet as I have seen them on ebay for 150 to 300 which is alot of months worth of telenav up to 30 which I'm sure you would need to update the TT maps in between and probably at a price. So I don't know what the answer is yet......
