WM6 ROM cooked using AKU7.0 is finally out for testing. It uses 24MB of pagepool and the RAMDisk is 40MB. You would like the speed of this ROM. With this the memory structure becomes as follows:--

gr8 news to hear that theres a fully functional WM6! i have a prob, apparently my device connects when its on... syncs perfectly... i downloaded the ROM, and tried to flash it... somehow in the bootloader mode, the device does not seem to connect at all... :(, gives me a "101" cannot connect to device error... any suggestions/solutions? wat could be the problem?

indeed am using the HimaUpgradeUt_noID and still getting a prob... when i connect the phone normally... it connects, syncs up and all... in bootloader the screen changes to USB as well, but when i try to flash, it apparently sees no connection :(

first is that there is a "settings" (i think) icon next to the "connect" icon to its left, when i click on it... it activates a notification, but this is empty... can anyone tell me wat this is?

second... when i add a new number to a contact... when i click on the mobile/home phone section, earlier the country code would automatically be inserted... apparently its missing since WM2k5 (AKU 3.0a i think)... infact an "@" comes when trying to enter an email id in the current ROM... is it possible to add this functionality as well... that would be very convenient.

third, wat i have already mentioned... so has waran, autosuggest does not work... any fixes on that?

fourth: multiple contact selection not working... anything on that?

When i update rom to Himalaya Mobile 6 > WM2006 AKU7.0 RAMDisk-40MB Pagepool size-24MB for Himalaya. It finished i not add new a contact to contact on mydevice and not copy contact sim to phone. Storage only 14MB.

shaman, you can use pocketmax phonealarn, it has a setting to louder volume than Himalaya normally allows. It's not freeware, I do not know a freeware solution. You could download the test version, create a registry dump, then only change PhoneAlarm>extended settings>volume>louder, then create another registry dump, use a file compare utility to find the changed key(s)

The above link is fully functional. The 4shared.com makes you wait for about 30 secs and then shows you the download button. So have patience when you connect..

when i switch the screen from portrait mode to landscape... the dpad should change its direction too.. ie x-axis->y-axis and vice versa... worked like that in the wm5 rom I was using before... but now it doesnt change... the dpad axis remain same... any workaround etc? :confused: :D

yeah i hav the same prob....the worst part is when i have password at startup..i hav to guess the right numbers...:(..if i press the clock..the start clicks...its very hard to re-align the screen

no no mine doesnt have that problem that happend to me with the tofclock rom... this ones working awesome... this thing only happens with the 5way direction button... the touch screen is fine... only the dpad doesnt change directions... u should try a different rom if u having the touchscreen problem... it was very very annoying and made it almost impossible to realign the whole thing...

Or you dive into the registry, once with cube, once without cube but good sound, find the key(s) that might be causing this, export them from both situations, give them clear names so you know which is which, compare them in notepad. If you find no difference, you exported the wrong keys and should carry on the quest. Once you find the culprit keys, you can probably install the good sound key in the nice screen registry, fixed.

For safety, when I'm doing something like this, I:
-NEVER use WM file explorer, a single click on a reg file can spell disaster
-cut and paste reg files immediately from device to PC using Activesync
-rename *.reg to *.regtxt
-only rename a single *.regtxt to *.reg after placing it back on device when I'm sure that I want to write it to registry.

Which os did you have before flashing?
Have you hard resetted the device after the flash as mentioned in the txt document?

i think i had the 2003...and i'm srry if this sound a bitt noob, but i only make this things:

5. Start your device in bootloader mode by pressing and holding down:

DPad + PowerButton + ResetButton

After a second release ResetButton, then release the rest of them.
Your screen will show word "Serial" at the top.
You are in bootloader mode now.

6. Place your device in the cradle, ensuring that the cradle
is plugged directly into a USB port on your PC and not to a hub
and that the power supply is connected to the cradle.
It is also a good idea to disable any screensavers on your desktop PC.

Once your device is cradled, the text on the screen will change to "USB".


7. Run HimaUpgradeUt.exe (or HimaUpgradeUt_NoID.exe if flashing on any Himalaya other which is from than O2)

8. Sit back and wait for the Congratulations screen to be displayed
on your PC. Your device will still be displaying 'Upgrading radio stack, please wait',
but as long as the PC says it is done, then its all OK.

9. Detach your device from the cradle.



when i try to hardreset Pressing ResetButton and hold down CameraButton + RecordButton the phone kinda shows a O2 screen with no backlight and its stays in that screen....i doesn's pass from there.
I am srry for wasting your time with this problem, but once again thank you for all your help

But... I think a large %age of us use SD cards because they're so cheap... Is there a possibility of a rom that uses all Storage, and no Ramdisk? I know some apps can install to SD card, but alot will only install to Storage, which leaves me juggling which of my main apps I can actually use

You're making an error in your thinking process... ;)
RAMdisk is in your RAM, while Storage is in your ROM, so.... giving RAMdisk away won't change your Storage size, but RAM size...

I am using XDA II...I am trying to connect my pc for GPRS internet over USB connection via cradle.I use modem link and select USB but can't select start button...same problem with serial but if I select IrDA then I can select start.

As an alternative, I then used wmodem.exe from Wm2003se and it gave me the option to start USB but give "error com open error (8)" on clicking start....can someone help me with this?

I have no external GPRS connected, no wifi no other add on device which could make port confliction.Any suggestions are kindly welcome.

Well it may be your files might have got corrupt...why don't u try a hard reset it usually fixes most of the troubles.

In case, if u don't know How to hard reset:
Press cam button+ notepad button + soft reset switch for 2-3 seconds together and you will see 3 menu options: select as No Yes Yes and then press D-pad.

For changing options, Use notepad button for navigation and cam button for selecting.These are the 2 buttons on left side screen volume knob inbetween.

That's only if nothing else helps and after creating backups of data.
It's very likely that there are two conflicting programs. Uninstall programs one by one, soft reset, test, next, till you find the culprit.
Another possibility is that an old ROM was used, version 4.2 had a battery bug, an error in the registry, well documented in the thread of that ROM.

Based on your picture I can see that you are using resco explorer. And there it is not showing anything. Are you able to see battery in
settings-->system-->POWER ?

I just downloaded CHM reader for pocketpc which actually reads the .chm help files usually found in windows and many e-books which are in .chm format.It even supports large >6MB e-books.The address url for download is:

The issue is that, as soon as the CHMReader.ARMV4.cab files finishes installation, it gives the error that "CHMREADER.NET requires the installation of netcf.all.wce4.armv4.cab for it to run properly.Install the cab file before running application".

But as I read this forum, c_shekhar has included .NET SP2 inside the rom and I also confirmed it with "NetCFVersion.exe"....now pls tell me why the application is demanding .NET framework cab...could it be that mysql is not included in the rom but only the .NET part ...if yes then what to do next?

Yes there is wake up problem with WM6. The SMS alert fix also does not work with this. Somebody shall write the routine a fresh for WM6. However the audio alert works fine for the incoming SMS...

The missing SMS is indeed a strange prob being reported. I haven't faced such prob so far. Shall have to observe a bit more closely. Let us report such occurance on this thread so that together we can look for solution..

I flashed my O2 XDA II with this ROM but it didn't delete my old WM5 files, settings, today background, programs, etc. It just copied the new WM6 ROM over the top so now I have 2 of every program. 2 x calendar, 2 x contacts, etc.

efrost's FTouchpro allows fast finger scrolling in PIE.
Has anyone tried SDHC? Would be nice. I currently have only two navigation programs both entire Western Europe, 6 bilingual dictionaries, English and Dutch Wikipedia without pictures on my 2GB SD card and it's almost full ;-(

Are you able to configure gprs on your device corresponding to your service provider? if yes then
Are you able to connect to GPRS and surf using the browser on your device? if yes then
are you able to configure the MMS correspobding to your service provider? If yes then
Try to send a MMS to yourself (to your own number) the MMS should go successfully and after a short while the device should connect for downloading (receiving) the same MMS.


Now tell the complete report. You better PM me for this...

I'm having very similar problem as rvdrijt with the GPS receiver..Turning on BT and activating the map program will cause my device to stall and reboot. I don't think its the map program as i reflashed the device back to PPC2003, the GPS receiver works well...any more suggestions?

To connect the GPS receiver in device is quite simple.

1. Switch on your GPS Receiver.
2. Open bluetooth connection, swicth on your PDA bluetooth (on mode tab)
3. On device tab , click add new device and wait until your GPS receiver appear on the screen.
4. Move to port tab, press New out going port.
5. Open your tom tom aplication, and continue with the correct setting :)

Let me add few lines to it..
The hard reset option does not erase even the data (like PIM, registries, programs installed in storage etc). It only clears the RAM and resets the time back to factory time.

The hard reset option does not erase even the data (like PIM, registries, programs installed in storage etc). It only clears the RAM and resets the time back to factory time.

I guess maybe you didn’t understand my question. I have Vista Ultimate and I can connect the internet via USB on Universal, Wizard and HTC advantage. The only problem I am having is on XDA II. I can connect it through Bluetooth and I can Sync using the USB but the internet sharing thing doesn’t work for me via USB in VISTA.

I don't know it will work with your device or not, but try this. Go to program choose "internet sharing". And than
In dropdown menu PC Connection Chose "Bluetooth PAN" (if you use bluetooth)

Press Menu in the righ down corner, choose "connection setting".

Press Set up my proxy server. Thick the box "This network connect to the internet"

And then open your browser to try

i still get my old splash screen on reboot after installing wm6

Right now the most sure way to do a full reset is to perform storage and hive formatting at hard reset time (Camera+Record+Reset procedure).

The internet sharing via USB works well in Vista with your first release. In the second release the internet sharing doesn’t work via USB in XP or VISTA. Is there anything you can do about the Pocket IE slow scrolling? It just takes a lot of time to scroll through a page. Thank you.

Is there anyway to run a diagnostic test to determine whether it's due to hardware problem? Prior to upgrading to this version of ROM it was OK. I was using your WM5 ROM prior to the upgrade.

Software installed are : SPB Backup, MS Voice Command, Resco Explorer, PocketBreeze, eWallet, PocketBible, Fizz Traveller, MemMaid

All these were installed in your previous WM5 without problem.

I'll do a hard reset over the weekend and try to activate to see the Bluetooth still having problem. Probably, it could be a hardware problem then.

Your My Documents must be having something big. You see, The my documents, Entire PIM.vol, and some of the files of your 3rd party progs stored in \windows are resting in the storage menory. So find out the big fish...

The rest of the big stuff would be in /windows.

Any way i could know which one is safe to delete/remove ?

Can you describe this problem in more detail? Is it fading slowly, fast, abrupt? Is only the backlight fading but can you still see contours/text or does it switch entirely off? What do you do/ have you tried to bring it back to life? Is there a possibility that your backlight or power settings are involved? Is there a possibility that 3rd party software is involved?

I happened to have something I would call a fading screen last weekend, twice, and for the first time since I have this Hima (several years). My symptoms:
-first low battery alarm
-then no button response, not even from soft reset or on/off
-then backlight faded
-then screen pixels faded to horizontal line pattern.
My cause:
I accidentally turned off my X button/task manager
I accidentally put some links not in Start Menu but in Startup
These programs caused a huge battery drain...

You can say that again. AFAIK all games should be able to run entirely from SD.
And they're often quite stubborn Storage claimers. Use a utility that tracks all system changes before/after install (registry, shortcuts, files...) to find out what to adapt to move them.

Yeah i do have quite a bit installed. :)

But the baffling bit is ..:confused: Most the softwares i've installed in my SD card .. The rest in Ramdisk. Except for the sytem utilities like Nyidtot...

I need the palm emulator coz i used to be a palm user (and i bought quite a bit of software for it too).. it runs on my palm emulation so far with no problems... :D dont want it to go waste. Or is tht the problem ?

Yes the sms wakeup still does not work. The sms alertfix does not work with WM6 any more.

first i wana ask you how u connect it ? mean by bluetooth or cable do you have GPRS setting in ppc ?wich bluetooth software you using ?like wedcomm etc when you dial which error you got ?if u done all setting in ur ppc then go to control panel on your pc click on phone and modem then click on modem and then Bluetooth Modem or USB Modem then click on properties and type there AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","your apn","",0,0
then ok and where i write your apn there you need to write ur provider apn and try now hope it will work

speed : without over clocking the rom speed is very nice ... i dont feel any slow apps at all

radio : i my self prefer 1.19 for battery purposes (i thought it saves up battery power) but it didnt perform flight mode properly , i like 1.17 more same performance with flight mode actually working

apps : i love the touch flo apps, though i had some hard times editing the config file, yet it's gr8 to have it embeded in our rom!
notepad is supposed to be gr8 app, yet i find it stupid ! asking me time after time to save the file even though i answered this Q alot
PPcPIM backup tool i love it, have been using it for so long, though, i dont know why it saves up only 300 call registery
wk task, it never seems to do it's job, and the x button loox very ugly indeed

i loved the rom, and i intend to keep using it till u increase our happiness and our love to himalaya with another gr8 rom of urs

I am honoured with your words as you have been doing before as well.
Honestly speaking, I have fallen in love with WkTask after trying so many task managers. The best features are :-

The commandline paramenters. I can assign closeOK to any of the hard button and close the applications more easily. I have assigned it to my record button at present.
The easy launcher. Assign launcher to single tap on the top titlebar and you have ready launcher for your favorite applications.
The X/OK button is skinnable. You can assign any goodlooking button for X/OK job.

Actually I would like to try SDHC Card, but I don't have it at the moment. Good Idea to incorporate SDHC card to the Himalaya rom. I think you can try first the driver which work in himalaya. You can find many driver which claimed worked very well in this forum :) and let us know which one is working, So the master C_Shekhar can be included to the next version, it can be very helpful :)

Very strange for your Audio manager, I've got one working on my 7.0b.
If you want it, I could upload it for you, but now I'm not on the correct computer so I don't have it. I'll try to upload it tomorrow ;)
I'm using the Slither's flash cube because I cannot get the "real" cube to work and everything is working fine.

Hope the HTC Album is going to be ported on our devices, because it's a very nice app. Think we should pray lol :D

-Don't know exactly what RAMDisk is.
-You need a ROM already translated if I'm correct, so you'll have to falsh it again with a french ROM.
-Don't know if it's possible to have an AZERTY keyboard with English ROM.
