In case this helps someone else, I had an issue today where Voice Command was working brilliantly (dutty's Apr 29 ROM) and then suddenly stopped working with an an error saying "Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename" when I pressed button 6/PTT.

To fix:
Go to your button settings and choose any other app, and map it to button 6/PTT. Then remap MSVC to button 6/PTT and it should not give you the error anymore!

I had this same problem however remapping the button doesn't always work. I had done that before but after a reset or for some other reason it would go back to having the "Error" problem again. I found the Voice Command shortcut in the \Windows\AppButtons\ folder was the problem as I believe it was a shortcut to a shortcut......or it was corrupt...or something like that, anyway, I created a new shortcut directly to the voicecmd.exe by using Total Commander then over wrote the link in the \Windows\AppButtons\ folder and I have not had a problem since.

(for reference, I'm using MSVC UK 1.6 - but can confirm this works with BOTH UK and US versions but not sure about the other languages)

Hi,
I haven't been able to replace all the vc files(original ones VC 1.6.4622 french), with u.s. version vc.1.6.17913, as described above (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2178361&postcount=249) ,
because it was causing a crash in voice command(of course first i had desactivated vc before the file replacing).

it worked except with VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll, which was causing a crash in voice command when i tried to reactivate it in "parameters/personnel/voice command", after the files' swap:
"please reinstall vc", so i kept only the old french VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll

Now my voice command in parameters/personnel/voice command
shows as 1.6.17913, and every thing seems to work.

hi btec1020

use Spb Pocket Plus to boot the phone into SAFE MODE.

That way you can safely install that file you are having trouble with (the reason why it doesn't want to play nicely is because Voice Command is still in use when you are trying to copy that file over).

Hope that helps you

Hi bro, after a busy week with my work last week, found time to try this patch again in safe mode. All files were replaced successfully but there's an error now.

After the soft reset and booting up in normal mode, when i press the shortcut button, the error is "The file VoiceCmd' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted cert or one of its components cannot be found. Might need to reinstall this file." I also noticed that the Voice Command in settings is missing.

Any idea how to fix this? Thanks a lot...

Hey guys, don't want to thread hijack, but there is a newer thread that has alot of info on MSVC. Check out the link in my signature, hopefully you will find some info there to help out.

The patch with the four files worked perfectly on my HTC Touch from Sprint. Thanks a lot.

Has anyone heard of a patch that solves the issue with the fact that if you turn on the confirmation when dialing by name that the connection just dies when you try to answer yes.

Has anyone heard of a patch that solves the issue with the fact that if you turn on the confirmation when dialing by name that the connection just dies when you try to answer yes.

That issue affected some older devices, and was tied into some BT settings if I remember correctly. I believe the only answer was to turn off confirmations, but there might have been further research.

Instead of installing the 4-file patch, which I discuss as updating your files to the 1.6.17913 version, why not download and install the later version that I offer, 1.6.19209?

I'm surprised that your device suffers from this problem even with .17913, but I think you'd be better off getting the newer version as it was designed for WM6.0 and not WM5.0.

Remember to uninstall completely, reboot, install, reboot.

Get it in the MSVC link in my sig.

Thanks for the reply. Wasn't aware of this build. I removed the old one, rebooted, installed the new one and rebooted. Anouncements works just fine, but when I try to confirm the call, it just dies.

Sorry I didn't realize you had a Touch initially. Most users of Touch have been reporting this issue. As far as I know the only solution is to disable confimation in MSVC Phone Options.

There may be another solution, but since I don't have a touch, can't really tell you much more!

That seems to be what I have been finding. I'll keep looking but it doesn't seem like anyone has a fix for this.

Out of curiosity, is this problem only over BT, or using the handset as well?

I have tried the zip files and all other suggestions. Voice commnd worked fine until I had to do a hard reset and now I cannot get it to announce calls. It still announces messages, etc. Any suggestions. I admit that I am pretty dumb when it comes to doing this stuff and especially when registry talk commences. I have no idea how to access the registry or what to do when I do, so if it requires something along those lines, would you mind being very explicit on how to do this.

Thanks

I tried the 4 file replacement, but each time I do it, the phone locks up as soon as I tried to enter settings. This is on the hyperdragon III ROM w/ the 1.65.20.29 radio on the Tilt. Has anyone else had a similar issue?

Here you go (found it after searching for hours don't remember from where)
***
Disable Voice Command before you attempt this

Overwrite your existing files from the zip. Make sure you can see hidden/system files

\Windows
VoiceCommand_PPC.cpl

\Program Files\Voice Command\
VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll
VoiceCommandWMP.dll
voicecmd.exe

Enable voice command.

Let me know how it goes.http://forum.xda-developers.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=2288027

Did as instructed, but it's gone worse with much worse recognition and still no announcement. Anyone can help please? many thanks.

All I had to do to get bluetooth to activate voice command was to set the headset as Hands-free:

Settings->Connections->Bluetooth

Then bring up the context menu on the headset entry in the list by holding the stylus on it.

Then select "Set as Hands-free" on the context menu

Viola!

It doesn't appear to fix the incoming call announcement or perhaps some of the other issues, but thought it might be helpful for those who just want the bluetooth headset to activate VC.

Guys, this 4 file replacement set is for an old version (1.6.17913), and won't work on many 6.0/6.1 ROMS. It WILL lock the phone up as described.

Please see the link in my thread for a more up-to-date guide on how to get MSVC working. You will have to go to some outside sources to track down the later versions, but you will have much greater success.

The new ROM for the HTC Touch which includes windows mobile 6.1 became available on 7/21/08. I applied this ROM and reinstalled everything. Now the confirmation works, unlike the original 6.0 ROM.

Is anyone using MSVC and BlackBerry Connect at the same time on a device running WM 6.1?

I cannot get MSVC to not crash while running BBC.

Thanks for all your hard work. I used this on the Touch Cruise and it worked like a charm. The only thing I noticed was that the blue bluetooth light stopped working but that's not a big deal to me. Appreciate it!!

I bought and installed MSVC and it worked fine out of the box and with my BT headset. Except of course caller announce did not work, either with the speaker or the headset.

I downloaded the zip file with the four files: voicecmd.exe, VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll, VoiceCommand_PPC.cpl, VoiceCommandWMP.dll

I installed them and reboot. this gave me the MSVC version 1.6.17913

I'm using a Tilt with Windows Mobile 6, CE OS 5.2.1622 (build 18128.0.4.4)

BT headset is Jawbone 2

So VC still works just fine with the same exception. Caller announcement still does not work. Everything else works great, through both the speaker and the headset.

Also I did the regedit thing to make the PTT button activated and set it to VC. And that works good too.

Everyone is citing that bengalih thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=391262) for a more updated fix, but alas, it seems bengalih is banned and the thread has no information that I can see.

Can someone post what the thread USED to show? heh

Hey all! I've read and read and read some more but I just can not figure this mofo out!

I'm having the problem of not being able to activate VC from the bluetooth headset. I am using the latest version of VC on TPC v11 ROM LOADED on the ATT Tilt version of the Kaiser so I did not have any previous versions or any other voice command software on the device.

When I perform the action on the BT Headset to call VC from the phone all it does is bring up the Dialer screen. I can hear incoming calls, texts, announcements, etc.. even if I just play music it will play through the BT Headset.

I have done the RegEdits that have been reccommended with no success. As a matter of fact, when I access HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM from RegEdit, there is no VoiceCommand directory!! (I added it myself and added the Reg. Value/String recommended).

Is there a reason that VoiceCommand was not listed under the OEM directory? VC IS installed and working from the device button without any problems.

Anyone have any ideas for this please:

I'm trying use the wired headset with microsoft voice command 1.6, so the phone can stay in my pocket and only be controlled by voice.
So far i've used >this< (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366672) which lets me activate voice commands by holding down the "end call" button on the remote, but it switches on the screen and unlocks the phone. I want it so the screen wont come on unless the power button is pressed, while also being able to use the "end call" button for the VC to use media player for Mp3's.

Any suggestions please?

:p:p:p:p:p:D:oHas anyone installed MS Voice Command on their Tytn II yet? I'd really like to be able to initiate calls from the BT headset when in the car...

Just curious since I know the new version supposedly supports commands directly from the headset. If no one else has.. maybe I'll buy it and give it a shot.
