Has anyone installed MS Voice Command on their Tytn II yet? I'd really like to be able to initiate calls from the BT headset when in the car...

Just curious since I know the new version supposedly supports commands directly from the headset. If no one else has.. maybe I'll buy it and give it a shot.

Works like a charm. Will post the link to get VC 1.6 to announce calls.

can you post the link please to get it to announce calls.
Its been great having VC 1.6 running with no hacks needed. It would be the icing on the cake to have it announce calls finally.

Can I just install it and it works? As in I can initiate calls with the BT Headset button? I hate having to fiddle with the phone.

If I can't do this, it's not worth $39 imho.

Here you go (found it after searching for hours don't remember from where)
***
Disable Voice Command before you attempt this

Overwrite your existing files from the zip. Make sure you can see hidden/system files

\Windows
VoiceCommand_PPC.cpl

\Program Files\Voice Command\
VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll
VoiceCommandWMP.dll
voicecmd.exe

Enable voice command.

Let me know how it goes.

I downloaded the zip file but there are only 3 files inside. I am still missing VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll - What went wrong?

As I said you should have windows display hidden/system files to see that. Check your windows explorer settings, all 4 files are there.

I thought this was for VC 1.5 not 1.6??? I thought VC 1.6 was supposed to work natively with the BT headset? I'm not rying to be a pain - I just don't want to hack anything up if I don't have to.

OK... So I added the suggested key to the registry - but Istill can't start Voice Command with the button on the headset... (Jabra x10 series II)

Any thoughts? I am assuming the regsitry key is a String Value:

Name = "Path"

and then the value being the path itself... is this correct??

Are these steps working for other Kaiser users? VC 1.6 works fine after install for activation via an assigned button on the phone. No matter what tweaks I make in the registry or files I replace though, activation through the headset is just opening up the HTC phone applet.

Funny enough - I don't think you need any of these tweaks at all (except for reassigning the voice dial button on the handset)

I did a hard reset of my phone and reinstalled Voice Command... And it just works - I have to hold the button on my headset till I hear two beeps, then i get the prompt and can voice dial via my headset.

1. Did you assign VC to the VC button via settings > buttons?
2. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ OEM \ VoiceCommand Change this value: Path = \Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCmd.exe

That's great news. But if I wait for the 2 beeps on my JX10 it redials the last number.

On my Series II the third beep does the redial... Of course according the the Jabra manual it should dial on the first beep - but it does not.

Is it possible to get the ring tone from speaker while using call announce on the Kaiser?

I tried all 3 options on VC 1.6 and if I select the 3rd one I get the call announce on the speaker but not on the BT. If I select 1st 2 options it only rings in BT and no sound from the speaker at all.

I have installed Voice Command 1.6 but when I attempt to change the button assignments by <settings/buttons/> the applet does not open. IE I have no access to the buttons settings.

Anybody else seen this?

I have an 'unlocked' HTA branded device.

As a workround is there a way to change button assignments in the 'registry'?

Just in case this helps anyone. If you have problems getting your Bluetooth headset to initiate a call using Voice Command when your device is off, it may be due to you electing to have all buttons off except the power button.

Tap Start, Settings, System Key Lock and switch from Lock all buttons except Power button to one of the other two settings. I switched to Lock buttons if device is locked. Now so far every time I press the button on the Jawbone the Tytnn II starts and I get the prompt to enter a command.

kavi

Is there a way to get the call announce through BT and the speaker at the same time?

What I have noticed while setting options on Voice Command:

1. Use BT Only => No ringing in the speaker but ringing and call announce both on BT

2. Use BT if available => No ringing in the speaker but ringing and call announce both on BT

3. Use handset spkr or wired => Ringing and call announce on speaker and default BT ringing tone on headset

I don't know whether this is the way VC supposed to work but it's driving me nuts. With this setup I always have to go and change settings on VC. When I get home if I forget to cradle or turn off my BT I never hear the device ringing.

On my WM5 IPAQ 6945 I can get both (BT & Speaker) to ring and announce at the same time.

Any help or advise would be much appreciated.

I just had to comment after finding this thread how freaking cool this app is. It works really well with my jawbone, I don't even have to wait for the Voice Command Prompt noise, I can start talking right after my headset beeps once. I'm surprised how accurate it is.

Definitely invaluable while driving.

VC 1.6 worked out of the box with no hacks of any kind, but it did not work over my Jawbone BT headset. After many attempts to get it to work, I tried the suggested solution in post #5 of this thread. This worked perfectly.

Now I have VC 1.6 works just like it was on my 8125 with the jawbone. I have it assigned to the Windows key on the 8925.

I have had some problems with this as well. Long story, short version; I hard reset my Tytn II and I purchased MS VC from handango just now (BTW this is not the most recent version/build. I recieved version 1.60 4622.0 from them today but the most recent version/build is 1.61 7913.. at least that is what is listed in post #3 in this thread in the Hermes forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336908 Also if you plan to use that cab on your TyTN II, the BTConfig app that is used to make MS VC 1.6 work on the Tytn is part of this cab install!)

Anyway, I installed my newly purchased MS VC without a problem and paired my jawbone without any issues. Soft reset and jawbone works fine...no reg hacks needed and did not install BTConfig which I had to use on my Tytn.

Cheers,

Brad

In just recently installed phonealarm and now my VC does not announce the appointment reminders anymore .. even a un-install and re-install didn't help .

Before PA installation it worked fine .. does anybody else have the same problem ?

fixed previous problem with the right PA settings, but when I use VC now to dial a number by saying : call voicemail I get a screen to select Voicemail as last call or Voicemail from the contacts in a list . I need to press call or the contact again to actually dial ... is this as it is expected ? I thought VC would dial direct ?

Hi All,

I have been a happy user of VC 1.6 for about a year on my WM6 Wizard. Unfortunatly the Wizard has gone the way of all things old, so I replaced with the Tilt. I have been searching for days to find a way to get voice announcements to work on this platform. Now that I found this thread it works.

FYI, I just installed the latest version of MSVC posted and added the one registry entry and it works fine!

If anyone has any operational MSVC questions feel free to post me, I live by this software!

thanks Again

I installed the latest version and it seem to work through my BT headset. I haven't tried announcemnts yet. Do they work out of the box, or did you have to do something to get them to work? You mentioned that you did a registry edit. What registry edit did you apply and what does it do? Sorry for all these questions, but like you, I really use VC.

warmkiwi99. I have no idea what an SE HBH-DS970 BT headset is, but you need to make sure it is BlueTooth 1.1 or 2.0 compliant for it to work well with Kaiser.
Questions:
1. Does it pair with your Kaiser?
2. Can you make and/or answer calls from it?
3. Go to BT settings-->devices is it there?
4. If #3 is yes, tap properties, is there a check box selected next to "handsfree"?

Answer my questions and I will see what I can do...

Yes, it pairs OK. Offers Stereo and Handsfree as its services but won't allow calls to be made or picked up from it. worked fine on my Tytn (1).

it does play music and tones/beeps from the Kaiser though - very odd?

My first guess would be there is something wrong with the BT headset, but if it worked on TyTN I then it should at least let you make/rcv calls. Do you by chance still have the TyTN I that you could retest it? or another BT headset you could try?

For the german users:
I also use the german Voice Command Version 1.6 and it didn't work with my Bluetooth Headset.
Use the tweak from this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1548114&postcount=5) Posting in this thread but do not change the VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll. Just leave it as it is on your phone, because this file is needed as it is for the german version.

Ive been watching this thread and was surprised to see that no one has reported the issue that even though VC6 works flawlessly through BT headset IT DOESNT WORK WHEN USING THE PHONE MIC!
It only works sometimes in a very quiet environment and from a certain distance from the phone
It worked like a charm on my WIZARD with no problems understanding me even in noisy situations
i think it has to do with the phones microphone
Am I doing something wrong? do I have a bad Kaiser? does anyone else have this issue?
BTW I dont have the "auto gain" enabled

spiro, um... not to offend but What the hell are you talking about? Before I found the fix for the BT that is the only way I had to use MSVC on my Tilt. I reassigned the PTT button to MSVC and it works like a champ.
If it is only working in quiet environments sometimes perhaps you have the manual gain set too low?

Hi all,

Has anyone noticed that if a caller withholds their number then Voice Command does not say a voice prompt and actually blocks the ring tone. The end result is nothing is heard from the phone and causes a missed call? Any solutions. Thanks everyone besides this working fine.

Hey, thnanks for all the info you provided here! I have VC 1.6 working on my TyTN II, reassigned the buttons so that de PTT button works for VC, so far everything great.

But When I hook on my TyTN II on my car radio via Bluetooth, and try the "voice command" button on my radio, it does NOT open the VC app. In stead of that, it only opens the phone dialer...

Is there a way to get it not to announce calls through the bluetooth headset whenever I am in the middle of a call? Through it beeping and announcing the call I can't hear what the person I am talking to is saying.

With the internal speaker, is there a way to turn up the volume of the announcements? It is really too quiet to hear over the ringtone.

Try a different BT headset - my Jabra BT500 (20E version) works fine, but my Parrot CK-3100 carkit (f/w 4.16) does not. This all with the retail 1.6 and the AT&T Tilt shipped ROM.

No don't try a different bluetooth headset, the key is to change the registery, follow those steps provided in many threads up there, however for me I had flashed my tilt with a clean ROM which didn't have the voice dail thing that already came with many pocket pc phone, the cybrn or something it call, anyways after installing the ms voice command it just hot, I mean wow, if you don't know what are you talking about, just hit the button on your bluetooth and say help and it will let you remind the command to use, good work ms voice command,

I Think I may have the solution. I used to have the same problem. when I press the button on my headset(H500) all it did was activating the phone application.
what I did was just unticking the XCSdM checkbox in the BT Voice Command Config, press save and exit, and softreset.

I have read this whole thread. I don't use BT. I use the HTC wired headset to listen to my music and take calls. I'm a NOOB on this phone. My VC works great except for it doesn't announce any calls in the headset or without the headset. So if i do this as this thread has stated will it fix my call announcements? THX

VC 1.6 pretty much worked on my Tilt from the get-go. Didn't install the first try (insufficient memory - NOT) but went fine on the second. Prior to installing, only had my car and BlueAnt Z9 paired. Added my Jawbone and it worked fine but the Z9 wouldn't initiate through the head-set. Deleted the pair and then re-paired. Worked fine then. So make sure you are pairing the head-set after you have VC up and running. Still can't get notifications to announce through the head-set though - maybe I'm not waiting long enough - does it announce after a particular number of rings? Didn't have the program on my 8500 as most of my calls were placed on my RAZR which came with a very similar feature built in - so I'm new to the program. Haven't done any hacks - accept for the PTT button modifcations.

I searched the thread for posts about the Jawbone and I can't tell if anyone has announcements working through it and the TyTN II w/VC 1.6 and stock TyTN II ROM.

Does anyone with the Jawbone have announcements working through the headset? I can initiate calls from the Jawbone but I never hear announcements or reminders through the headset. And I have enabled announcements in the VC setting applications.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the 1.5 UK version, and it won't work on the Vario 3 (TyTn 2)

Russ741

I have a new unlocked Kaiser and it has a voice program installed from HTC, I dont know what it is though. My question is, is it the same program as msvc ? Second can msvc 1.5 which I can get for free be upgraded to 1.6 ? I tried for the heck of it to install msvc 1.5 and when I try and use it I get the same error I have seen reported by others " VC has encountered an error..try again" Nothing I have tried worked. I was thinking there may be a conflict with the preinstalled voice program. I had a button assinged properly too. Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?
TIA!

hi, I installed german version 1.60.4622.0 - with this version the announce of incoming calls does not work on wm6 - then I disabled voice command and put the files VoiceCommandWMP.dll and voicecmd.exe from the english version 1.61.7913 in the directory \programme\voice command - after restarting the device I'm able to get announcements in german language for incoming calls - hope this may help ... (I'm using the standard german image from htc.com)

I own an AT&T Tilt with WM6 pre-installed and recently installed Microsoft Voice Command 'US English' version 1.60.4622.0.

I was really disappointed that the "Announce Callers" feature wasn't already included out of the box as the documentation had suggested. That said . . .

Kavi, thanks for providing the fix replacement files.

Are the files included in your zipfile (d/l attachment) suitable for my US English 1.60.4622.0 version of Voice Command ?

Kavi and others:

Wanted to let you know that I finally went ahead and installed the 4 files you provided, and that "Announce Callers" now works. :)

Now when I receive a call from an unblocked telephone number, their name & location is announced as well as the ringtone played that's assigned in their Contact Record.

Oddly enough, if the caller has their caller ID blocked, their telephone number is still announced, but their name/location is NOT given (even though they are included in my Contact Record list. Also, only the phone's default ring tone is played, and not the ring tone assigned to them in their Contact Record. Seems strange. Is this normal?

This said, I realize you can temporarily unblock your caller ID from a regular landline phone by pressing *82 before making a call, but how do you unblock your caller ID from your cell phone? Can this be done on the phone itself? I have both an AT&T Tilt and 2 Samsung Syncs.

Thanks,

Jazz

Good NEWS!

I'm thrilled to report that I finally figured out why people on my Contact list with specially assigned ringtones are only being announced by MS Voice Command's 'synthesized voice' with only the telephone number & my phone's 'default' ringtone:

After a bit a trial and error, and looking at those contacts more carefully, I figured out that, because these contacts live in my local area and have the same area code as myselfl, I did NOT include the area code in their stored telephone numbers. As many of you know, it's not currently required to enter the area code when making local (in the same area code as your phone) calls, but Microsoft Voice Command, looks for the entire telelphone number (including area code) to match up with in your Contacts, when it receives an incoming call. If it can't find the complete 10 digit phone number in one of your contacts, it assumes it's not from one of your contacts, and merely announces the 10 digit telephone number and does not announce a name, and also simply plays the phone's default ringtone.

I've now gone back and added the area code to all my contacts, and now Microsoft Voice Command announces their name and plays the ringtone I assigned to each of them specifically.

On another note: only after I added the 4 updated MS Voice Command files (outlined above), my version of MS Voice Command has been updated & now displays as version: 1.6.17913.

I hope my trial & error discovery will be help to others out there who own Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 and want to get "Call Announcing" working.

Thanks again to Kavi for providing those important update files.

All the best,

Jazz

You'll need to tell us the make/model of BT headset. MSVC + Kaiser BT stack = a lot of model-specific issues. E.g. my Jabra BT500 works great, my Parrot CK-3100 is unusable, while both worked great with MSVC on Hermes.

Hi,

I'm using this on a Tilt with the stock SW and ROM. The BT headset is a Nokia BH-800. If I deactivate the "announce incoming calls" I can answer calls with my BT headset with no issues. When I activate it, the BT Headset will not connect to an incoming call unless I hit the phone button on the actual phone itself.

Ok folks,

I just discovered a glitch with Microsoft Voice Command 1.6's: Announce Incoming Caller feature.

I recently added the 4 files (links provided by Kavi earlier in this thread) to get 1.6's Announce Calling feature to work. The Announce Incoming Caller feature now works, but there's one hitch:

When I now receive a call from a person on my contact list that has a PRIVATE (blocked number), the ring tone often merely attempts to begin playing but then stops abruptly (no sound), and The Microsoft synthesized voice doesn't say anything either because there's no caller identification provided because it's a blocked number. Thus, calls from blocked (private) numbers will more than likely be missed unless you're staring at the phone's screen to see the incoming call window pop up merely displaying (and with no sound) that a call is coming in from a private number.

I then had my friend call back and temporarily unblock his number by first dialing *82. This time Microsoft Voice Command verbally announced both my friend's name & location (at home), while his pre-assigned (In Contacts) Ring tone played in the background, and the phone screen displayed both his pic & his name on the pop up screen.

I then had my friend call me back a 3rd time, and had him leave his number blocked this time. This time Microsoft Voice Command verbally annouced my friend's name & location (at home) again, but the phone's default ringtone played (but not the one I assigned him in his Contact Record), and the pop up window merely displayed this as a call from an unknown (private) number.

Incoming calls from people with blocked (private) numbers is yielding mixed results. Sometimes the default ring tone will play, other times, the ring tone will start to play but then stop, and other times, no ring tone is heard at all, with the only evidence that I'm receiving a call is the pop up box which appears on the screen saying call from unknown (private) caller.

Has anyone else who's got Microsoft Voice Command 1.6's "Announce Incoming Caller" feature up and running experiencing this too? If you don't know yet, I urge you have a friend who's got caller ID blocked to call you and report back your findings.

Feedback & assistance from others who have the "Announce Incoming Caller" feature working with Microsoft Voice Command 1.6 would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Jazz

finaly got my wired headset working with voice command.

now i can hold the button to activate it.

key was to edit the registry as mentioned in the #4 of this post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=998205&postcount=9

4. Lastly, you must modify this registry entry in order to use your Bluetooth headset with Voice Command:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand Path = "\Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCmd.exe

If you only have "defaul" string inside like me, just add a new string with name "Path" and value - address to voicecmd.exe as above.

thanks for the link!

I just want to get clarification to this thread's starting post.

You say you have a 'TyTnII' and you can not initiate a call via voice command?

TyTnII's are supplied with voice speed dialler!!

Please specify the actual unit you are using as I believe it is more probably a 'Tilt' or some other carrier hobbled 'Kaiser'.

A TyTnII is the stock version from HTC.

My question is not about BT at all.
Instead I would like to inquire if anyone has got VC to work with another media app other than WMP. Would love to get this to work with HTC Audio Manager, then I can truely phase out WMP (obviously leaving it installed so phone can play mp3/wma ringtones). Was hoping that it could be a reg setting but no luck. Noticed in an earlier post a WMP.dll file, take it this is what VC uses to interact with WMP.
Any dll coders about......?

I use MSVC 1.6 for incomming calls announcements using the 4 files provided. This works great except for private calls. I therefore have not allocated ringtones to any of my contacts and only use the incomming call feature. In my sound settings I have setup the vibrate feature so when a non-private caller calls the phone vibrates and then announces the caller by name and place. When a private caller phones the phone merely vibrates.

This way I dont miss any calls unless the phone is not with me. Would be great if MS could update 1.6 to correct this feature of private calls as it is obviously a global concern

TyTNII (kaiser, vodafone v1615, Tmobile Vario III, call it whatever) do indeed come with voicedialer... but it's crap! you have to train it and it doesnt always work properly.

Ms Voice commander is way better and provided much better functionality.

only thing is, it's abit hard to get it to work with handsfree.

It's been my experience that all versions of VM 1.6 are not equal. The original 1.6 I had would not announce. I downloaded the added files and followed the steps listed elsewhere on this forum and never had any luck.

I had a problem some time after and had to do a hard reset. When I loaded everything again I used the same VC 1.6 installer I had and it worked for everything except the announce.

I then saw someone on here had a newer build of the 1.6 installer. In fact it was a CAB. I grabbed that, uninstalled my copy of the 1.6, installed this newer build of 1.6 and Bob's your uncle it works perfect now.

I looked around and I could not find anything on the microsoft website that offered customers newer builds of VC 1.6. I have no idea where the member found this install. But it fixed my problem without any other special files or tweaks.

Installed the 1.6 version from Handango. Hacked the registry per post #2 on this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=998205&postcount=9). That got it to work with my BT Jabra BT800 but would not send audio to headset. Then installed newer version of VC then what Handango gives out. Search this forum for the link (http://www.sendspace.com/file/f48smf) to the post to get the update. That fixed the audio going to the BT headset but still didn't get the announcements to work. Then I copied the files from the zip voicecommandreplacementfiles.zip, again somewhere in this forum. Did a soft reset and now it all works. This will be sweet while driving to hear who the email is from.

My Kaiser/TyTn II which I absolutely think is an awesome phone...came with a voice command program from HTC. Does anyone know what program it is? It works fine with my Motorola H700 bluetooth earpiece too by the way as well as launcing programs, dialing contacts etc...

I went and bought Voice Command 1.5 thinking I would have more options for using voice then the preinstalled voice command from HTC...is that true?

I installed VC 1.5 and could not get it to work. I had the voice button assinged properly but kept getting an error " voice command had a problem try agian" or something along those lines. Also after unistalling VC 1.5 my original voice program did not work unless performed a hard reset.

If there is something I was doing wrong or is it even worth installing VC 1.5 and is it better than what came with my HTC Kaiser/TyTnII ?

I dont know what I dont know so Im reaching out for some advice here...
Thanks in advance...

Microsoft VC 1.5 wont work on kaiser. You need to get version 1.6.

I installed the latest version of voice command on the new O2 XDA Orbit 2.
It works good with the bluetooth headset without any patches.
However call notification does not work. The 4 files posted here are for the english voice command only. Does anyone have them in german?

How can I disable Voice Command and make all sound beiing routed to the headset?
The solution with Mortscript (posted somewhere else in this forum) does not work... any other idea?

Hi,
i improved voice recognition vc 1.6(French edition), via my bt earphone
i have an HTC TYTN II(E.U. stock, unsimlocked by design, not the tilt/cingular):
my steps:
i installed the HTC BT fix (released around the 19/20th of december)
i installed btIO-0.6-wm5.cab,
i press on my user-defined hardware button to launch vc,
when i want vc to function from my logitech bt earphone:
i do a long tip on today's BTio icon(like a right click), appears a menu, i select
"Audio2BT".
Now i press on my logitech "volume up" button, i can ear the vc "beboop"

plus:
i was desapointed by the voice recognition success and i found the V.C.1.6 volume voice too weak:
i used a trick found
http://www.slingcommunity.com/forum/thread/22533/SlingPlayer-Wm6-On-The-Dash-Now-Works-With-Microsoft-Artificial-Intelligence-Voice-Command-Application/

i set HKEY_Current_User>Control Panel>SoundCatagories>Voice Command1 Change Attenuation Catergory= Value from 3 (0 in the thread just above) to 1

And (same key) "InitVol" from 5 to 15

i find, now that the recognition success seems better
and the VC1.6 voice more audible.
perhaps better values would do the trick !
up to you to test and feedback
PS/ Dont forget to backup your Kaiser registry first!

Is that available for the german version of VC also?

do we need to purchase voicecommand from handango prior to apply this .cab update? or is this cab update the full version of voice command?

would rather not pay the $36 to handango if possible.

I installed MSVC 1.60.4622, and it didn't announce anything. Then, after going to Settings > Personal > Voice Command, I had to pick 'Messaging' in the list, and click 'Options'. Then I had to check the box for "Announce messages". The same went for Phone calls and reminders. So far it seems to be working just fine.

Disable Voice Command before you attempt this[/B]

Overwrite your existing files from the zip. Make sure you can see hidden/system files

\Windows
VoiceCommand_PPC.cpl

\Program Files\Voice Command\
VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll
VoiceCommandWMP.dll
voicecmd.exe

Enable voice command.]

Kevi...so are we supposed to make the registry changes per the earlier link? I have done what you list above (minus the registry changes), and it does not announce calls either on headset or speaker.

[Edit]
Well, I have learned a few thihgs, and have it going
1. You DO need to do the registry edits. That one later post quoted above made me think maybe they weren't necessary.
2. When you say CAll <whomever>, you need to confirm it when they suggest back..although occasionally you don't need to. Confirmation makes it work consistent ;-)
3. For the voice announcements to work you also have to go into Settings, Voice Command, select PHone, and options, and turn that option on.

Thanks!

Ok, I feel like I must be an idiot, but for the life of me I cannot get VC to work on my Tilt.

I had it working on my 8525 with a patched cab I found that worked right off the bat.

I'm using Alex's latest superclean AT&T ROM with a BlueAnt Z9, and I've tried a few different VC Install files. Most recently I installed MSVoiceCommand_1.6.17913.cab I didn't touch anything with the BT Voice Command Config utility it comes with.

However, I did modify the registry for HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand

I set the "Path" variable to \Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCmd.exe

and I created a "(Default)" key based on the screenshots in one of the earlier posts http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1548225&postcount=15

Via Settings->Buttons I assigned Button 6 to "Voice Command"

I've also soft reset after changes, and re-paired the headset....

If I just push Button 6 (PTT) it works just fine, but for the life of me I can't get the headset to initiate it. Is there something I'm missing with everything I've done? Another way to re-assign buttons via the registry? Do I need to do something with the BT Voice Command Config app?

Thanks!

I had tried my H700 before and had no luck with that either- I just bought the blueant today, partly because of people reporting it working (even in this thread).

I also applied the HTC BT Hotfix, but that didn't help either (SQ is better though)

I posted this in the Hermes thread, but got no response. Any help?

How do I go about doing step 4? I am using Task Mgr. I can see the folder with Voicecommand. I just don't know what I am supposed to do to add/change to the suggested path. Thanks.

-------------------------
Installing Voice Command on K-JAM/Cingular 8125/HTC TyTN

1. Cyberon's Voice Speed Dial software is embedded with the OS and not as an addon through the Extended ROM. The only way to disable it is to delete the shortcut in the \Windows\Start Menu as well as the SDDaemon.lnk file in the \Windows\Startup folder.

2. Install Microsoft Voice Command normally. You may be prompted with an erroneous error message saying it's going to install in Main Memory, which is fine. Just continue with the installation.

3. The installation will reassign the Messaging button to Voice Command, but you probably want to give that back to the Messaging or other favorite applet. Reassign the Voice Speed Dial button to launch Voice Command.

4. Lastly, you must modify this registry entry in order to use your Bluetooth headset with Voice Command:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand Path = "\Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCmd.exe

Clearing out the traces of Voice Speed Dial

1. In these registry locations:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Shell \ Extensions \ ContextMenus \ Contacts \ Main_ContextMenu
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Shell \ Extensions \ ContextMenus \ Contacts \ Main_Tools
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Shell \ Extensions \ ContextMenus \ Contacts \ Summary_Tools

----> Remove this key entirely: {2C0E9904-F32D-4f53-875F-479F5CA81E18}

2. In this registry location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ ControlPanel Remove this key entirely: VoiceTagCPL

3. In this registry location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ OEM \ VoiceCommand Change this value: Path = \Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCmd.exe

4. In this folder: \Windows\Startup Remove this file: SDDaemon.lnk

5. Reassign the Voice button in Buttons applet under Settings to Voice Command.

Now, soft-reset your device and that should do it. Cyberon's Voice Speed Dial is out of the picture. That is, until you hard reset, then it all comes back.

OK. Fixed it on my phone.

Here is what I did:

1. Open BT Voice Command Config from Programs. Uncheck XCSdm
2. I put in 2 strings under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand

Default = "\Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe"
Path = "\Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe"

I put "" around the strings - and the voicecmd.exe is SMALL case voicecmd not VoiceCmd.exe

3. Deleted the other keys under VoiceCommand
4. deleted the BT headset pairing - the paired jawbone headset again... perfect.

Thank you Daniel, but unfortunately it is still not working. What ROM are you using? What release/cab of MSVC are you using? Do you have a link?

I tried this with both my Z9 and an H700 and no dice. I'm convinced that it has to be something with the MSVC configuration, because if I install Cyberon on its own (it is stripped from Alex's UltraClean ROM), the headset button works perfectly, but with MSVC it does not.

Since you're using dutty's, does that mean you had the voice dialer installed in there originally?

I had the cyberion Voice Commander installed originally (and the XCSdm BT Voice commander as well).

I removed Cyberion Completely (via link earlier in thread) - then continued with unchecking XCSdm BT Voice Commander Config). Then reg entries... then it worked...

Hallelujah! I finally figured it out- so it did have to do with the XCSDM setting I believe... so here is what I did for anyone else that is wondering:

1. Installed MSVC 1.6 (from the link in the TNT ROM posted earlier)
2. Soft Reset
3a. Made registry change to set Path = \Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe (no quotes)
3b. Change button assignment (assigned to Button 6/PTT in my case)
4. Soft Reset
5. Enable XCSDM
6. Soft Reset
7. Disable XCSDM
8. Soft Reset
9. Pair Bluetooth Headset

It seems to be working...the best I can figure is that when it initially gets installed the XCSDM doesn't have any value at all, but by enabling it, and then disabling it, it actually turns it off as opposed to having a null value. Also note that since I am using Alex's 'UltraClean' ROM, there were never any Cyberon installation traces, and therefore I ignored those sections.

In any case it seems to be working great and I'm very happy.

Thank you everyone for all your help, and hopefully what I listed above will help someone else.

I have a new XV6800 (nearly identical to the TytnII?), WM6, stock ROM...I'm using VC v1.60.4622.0...

I have no problems with the announcements...my issue is that if I try to use the "confirmation function", the phone doesn't hear my response and then shuts down VC.

Example:

Me: call home
VC: call home?
Me: yes!

hang up....didn't work this way on my WM5 device...if i turn confirmation off, i'm having about a 75% of VC correctly recoginizing the name of the person i'm calling...is there a hack or reg edit that I can do to get the confirmation to work?

I have MS VC 1.6 and calligrapher 8.5 installed (write anywhere SIP). However, it seems the VC is too much of a resource hog to allow calligrapher to run. When I select the sip, it reverts back to the keyboard. But, if I uninstall and or deactivate VC and reset, calligrapher works just fine.

Any ideas on how to remedy this?

Is there a way to test if i have VC on my device? I just downloded it and installed and did a soft reset. I went into programs, but there is no icon for MS voice command anywhere. Is there supposed to be?
I can press the button on my H700 once and a beep sounds and i can dial my saying their name, or by saying the number outloud. I can also get the time, date, calander status and so forth.
I am running Dutty's V3 Test, and not the final version.
Please help me when you can, it would be nice to know if i think I am running MSVC 1.6 or just a built in support for BT headsets.

All the functions you described are from Voice Command. If you go to Settings>Personal>Buttons, look up the button you press to get the beep and it should show as activating Voice Command.

Hello All.

Thank you very much for all the information provided in this thread. So far, on my TyTN II (running Dutty's no7 ROM w/ touchflo), I have MSVC accepting commands from both built-in mic and BT headset (Plantronics 510 and/or Sony DR-BT30Q). However, I cannot get it to announce any calls either from the built-in speaker of the BT headsets. Everything in Voice Command setup is checked.

Also, someone mentioned something about editing a setting in th BT Voice Command Config. I can't find this feature at all.

I have tried the file replacement as mentioned early in the thread but this has not yielded any results. I also instaled the BT fix from HTC. I installed version 1.6.17913 right from the start as per the instructions in post #2.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi from a newbie!

Has anyone found the answer to the quoted problem? I've read the whole thread, googled, searched, etc. I have a Tilt running VC 1.6.17913. I followed the instructions in this thread, and everything is running perfectly, except that the phone speaker doesn't ring when my Jabra bt500 is paired up. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also, for those of you having problems initiating calls from your BT headset, I had the same problem until I deleted all paired devices in Bluetooth manager. Start\Settings\Connections\Bluetooth. After that I paired my headset again and voila! Initiating calls from the headset works.

Thanks!

Just so I understand - your 3 choices under notifications are:

1. Announce Notifications using Bluetooth hands free only.
2. Announce Notifications using Bluetooth hands free if available.
3. Announce Notifications through device speaker or wired headset only.

... And you are waiting for a solution that isn't provided?

What I'm looking for, and what I think Kavi is looking for, is for the ringtone to play normally on the phones speakers while the verbal announcement goes to the bluetooth. That would be ideal. However, I'd be happy with the ringtone going to the phone while ringtone & announcement go to BT. Basically, I want to be able to take off my headset and still hear the phone ring. VC disabling the normal ringtone on the phone.

Again, thanks for any help anybody can give!:)

This is exactly what I would like to have. I drive truck and while it's a minor annoyance (having to turn off bt headset to hear ring on phone) option 4 would be great. Even better, Ring only on phone and announce on bt. That would be bt bliss:D

Hey guys, Great forum...have seen lots of help here.

I have an Att treo 750 running wm6. VC 1.6.17746 came with the WM6 form ATT. I am having the same issues listed in this post and would love to use the fix. When trying to overwrite the files needed I get the error

"Cannot copy VoiceCommand_PPC: Access is denied. Make sure your mobile device has sufficient memory, that the file is not read only, and that you have permission to copy this file type".

I get this error for every file that needs to be replaced with the fix.

I have made sure VC is off when trying to modify these files.

I have tried a hard reset, tried renaming the file, tried using activesyc to replace the file, used Resco Explorer to try to rename, edit, delete, and move the file.

So far nothing has worked. Any ideas

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If it helps at all:

Voice commander 1.6 works fine on the stock tilt rom, with one caveat -- no call announce. I have not tried those replacement files, but I will.

Voice commander 1.61 does not work well on the stock tilt rom. The only thing that worked for me was call announce.

For those of you having problems replacing the files on your devices, with a error message saying "can not overwrite file" You must make sure that voice command has been disabled from the settings-voice command uncheck the enabled box, before you try and overwrite any files. This program is just like any other windows program if the program is running it is not going to let you alter the file system in any way. So again make sure it is disabled before you overwrite any files. Hope this helps..

I have replaced all the files on my device and played around also with some registry entries and I still can not get my Tilt to make announcements through BT. Everything else is working perfectly, but no annoncements. I'm using VC 1.6 with Duttys WM 6.1 rom.

Also for the people not seeing any files or only 3 files extracted from the downloaded zip you have to make sure that you have "show hidden files checked in the view properties of the folder and also make sure you have "show hidden system files" checked also.

I have an ATT Tilt running Alex's ATT 1.62.

I followed post #2 in this thread to disable Cyberion Voice Commander.

Then installed Voice Command (v1.6.17913)

Then disabled Voice Command and soft reset (so I could overwrite files in the next step)

Then followed post #5 to overwrite the necessary files.

Now i get VC announcements on my BT headset. Funny though, i get my ringtone in the headset first, then VC speaks the callers name over the ringtone!

Thanks everyone for the post. It works!

I sanyone tested it? Is it working for french VC 1.6 on WM6?

hi,
I have a TYTN II french stock rom, and i tried the procedure given
above without luck:
I haven't been able to replace all the vc files, because it was causing a crash in voice command(of course first i had desactivated vc before the file replacing)
i dont remember which files i kept (original ones VC 1.6.4622 french) and which i had been able to replace(with u.s. version vc.1.6.17913)
So my voice command in parameters/personnel/voice command
shows as 1.6.17913, but the incoming call annoucement doesnt work in my bluetooth earpiece (i can hear my ringtone instead)

Edit : i looked after the date files:
VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll AND voicecmd.exe are both from 15/09/06(DD/MM/YY) so they should be the VC 1.6.4622 french one's
VoiceCommand_PPC.cpl AND VoiceCommandWMP.dll are dated 30/05/07(DD/MM/YY) so they should be the u.s. version vc.1.6.17913 one's

However, when I install it on my AT&T Tilt, I get an error every time I enable it. The error says "Voice Command encountered a problem. Restart your voice command and try again.".

I have tried reinstalling twice and have also done all the registry edits to clean up Voice Dialer and enable VC. But, no success.

Dont delete the voicetag (as stated in Step 2)

2. In this registry location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ ControlPanel Remove this key entirely: VoiceTagCPL

Instead amend the group value under this key to 65535

ie set key [HKLM\Control Panel\VoiceTagCPL\Group] to 65535

I had to do this as deleting the key only worked for one go in "settings" , after reboot the control panel for Cyberon "Voice Dialer" kept creeping back. even deleteing file from \windows didnt work.. it'd reappear from the rom(?)

I solved it by changing the key to 65535.

I read the entire thread and have this question unanswered:

When you receive a call, can you make the Tilt ring (or vibrate) through the speaker (without caller id announcement through the speaker), while at the same time, have the Bluetooth device announce the caller id (with or without a ring through the BT device) ?

Thanks very much for anyone who can answer.

Several days ago I asked whether you can put the phone in vibrate mode, and still hear callerID announcements over a Bluetooth headset.

Anyway, someone else asked a similar question in a different forum, and received a solution:

Question:
I enabled the called ID announcement but it works only when the phone is normal profile. If I choose the vibrate profile, it does not announce anything over the bluetooth headset. Is there anyway I can set to announce through the headset in vibrate profile?

Solution:
I found a work around for the problem. I renamed the normal profile to vibrate and change all the setting as vibrate and vice versa for vibrate profile. Now I can hear announcement through headset in vibrate(new) profile.

Can anyone please check if this solution work with the Tytn2/Tilt, and allow to hear annoncements over BT, while the phone is in vibrate mode ?

Thanks.

Correction- everything is fine now! I guess I had to highlight "phone" to see those settings and options. Now my next question is how to change the announcer's voice to something that's less like stephen hawkins' computerised female voice?

I have Voice Command (v1.6.17913) installed on an AT&T Tilt flashed with Alex's ROM v5.HTC.181.Full). Voice Command works from the PTT button or the Start menu, but when I press the button on my bluetooth headset, instead of the voice command prompt beeping, the phone displays the phone dialing touchscreen keypad, and the headset gradually over the course of 30 seconds or so starts playing increasingly loud and solid static in to my ear. I have to power off the headset to stop it. (It's a Jawbone, in case it matters).
Obviously, I don't have the bluetooth headset button press associated properly with Voice Command.
I already have the registry key HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand value "Path" set to the installed location of MS Voice Command \Storage Card\Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCmd.exe.
What else do I need to do so that pressing the button on the bluetooth headset properly launches Voice Command and listens for me to speak a command over the headset? (And closes the audio gateway to the bluetooth headset after I'm done, which I think may fix that static problem I have...).
Thanks

What else do I need to do so that pressing the button on the bluetooth headset properly launches Voice Command and listens for me to speak a command over the headset? (And closes the audio gateway to the bluetooth headset after I'm done, which I think may fix that static problem I have...).
Thanks

Ok theres a thread here where this guy is offering for 5 dollars a month a spot on his Exchange 2007 server. Since I've been put on the server Voice Command does not work at all. I don't get any type of announcements. All I can do is initiate it and tell it what to do. I've uninstalled and re-installed it again and nothing. I have the option set to "Speak through device speaker or wired headset" I have the only speak notification during free time unchecked" It doesnt read my sms messages when they come in. Could it be that he put a policy on my phone that disable it or something. I say this because I was trying to intall this CAB file on my phone and got an error saying that I didnt have security rights. It was a cab file for a VISTA comm manager.

I have read all the threads and am trying to get the replacement file to work. I am using Vista and it keeps telling me it is not a valid application. Does the replacement files not work on Vista.

The replacement files have nothing to do with your Desktop PC -- these files are to be put on your handheld device. They definitely won't work on your Vista computer.

I saw a post or two that seemed to pertain to this but couldn't really follow the answer or discussion:

Is there a way to still get Announcement of Incoming calls while the phone is set to Vibrate. Currently if the phone is set to Vibrate ( with no ring ) there is nothing announced through the Bluetooth Headset. If you set the volume to anything above Vibrate you then get the Incoming Call announcement.

This may be by design of the software , but if there was a way to "hack" it and allow the master volume of the phone ato be left on Vibrate but still get the announcement that would be great!

why is that sometimes when i press the voice command button and say sth and it ain't recognize what i say, i can't hear the "please repeat"? i mean i see that the icon in the top disappears for a second and then appears again, so sth is just wrong with the voice itself...

is there a fix or sth for this? or why is it? thx

My VC won't announce anything at all. It was working before and now it doesn't announce anything. I have the option set to play through speaker. And unchecked the box saying only announce during free time. Can someone PM me with a solution or something. Thanks

Sorry, Voice Command does it's part even when sound is silenced (or on Vibrate) I know this becasue it activates my BT headset to make the announcement but the sound never comes when I have vlume set to vibrate.

Here you go (found it after searching for hours don't remember from where)
***
Disable Voice Command before you attempt this

Overwrite your existing files from the zip. Make sure you can see hidden/system files

\Windows
VoiceCommand_PPC.cpl

\Program Files\Voice Command\
VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll
VoiceCommandWMP.dll
voicecmd.exe

Enable voice command.

Let me know how it goes.

Just fantastic! NOW, FINALLY my MSVoice Command 1.6 works PERFECTLY and is FULLY FUNCTIONAL on my Sprint Touch, even with BT! Just great - THANK YOU SO MUCH! - - Mike

I am haveing erratic issues with my headset function button. Sometimes it will bring up voice dialer and sometimes it doesn't. When it doesn't work, the voice dial screen will quickly flash on then off. It will do this several times and then all of a sudden it will work once or twice and then go back to not working. This happens with my Motorola h700 and my new Blue Ant Z9 equally so I doubt it is headset related. Is this something the the BT fix addresses?

I was wondering if Voice Commander 1.6 would work better than the Tilt's stock voice dialer with bluetooth especially with regards to the function button. The program looks good, but would like to know before investing in it if I am going to have similar issues...

Is there a list of all voice commands for 1.6? I'm looking for a way to end programs, start works fairly well - but is there an exit/quit/stop command? A list would be helpful if anyone has a link.

I figured out that S2U2 is the culprit. It does not happen with the standard lock program. Does MS Voice Command play well with S2U2?

that would explain everything!!! I was just about to ask if someone had issues like that. I'm going to try to disable s2u2 and see if voice command plays nicely now. I'll post back with my findings.

edit:

Nope still not working. S2U2 Doesn't seem to effect VC in anyway. At least with me.

I used this and it worked so well. I did have to delete the VoiceCommand_PPC.dll file from the device first in order for the new one to take and transfer over. Also for you all that are having bluetooth drama with being able to use it to push button on BT and give it commands I recommed you check out this link http://forums.thoughtsmedia.com/showthread.php?t=74994 I am copying a quote from the above site here. "By hacking the registry, you can swap out the sddialer.exe with the voicecmd.exe app. This allows you to press the button on the headset, you hear Voice Command respond with the beep, give your command, it will repeat the command through the headset if so configured then wait for you to say "Correct" or "Cancel" and then dial. The steps are:

1 Install Voice Command to the default location.
2 Fire up a registry editor
3 Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand
4 Modify the string marked "path" from the default \Windows\SDDialer.exe to \Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe

On my device I did not have the string "path" listed at number 4 so I added the path using a registry editor as path and the string as \Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe and soft reset the device and repaired my bluetooth and it worked fine. I have been going threw drama for about a week trying to figure this out and finally did so I thought I would share in hopes to help someone else out. Thanks, Mark

Hi, I am trying to do this fix but one of the files (VoiceCmdRes_PPC.dll) just can't be copied to my device. The original file in the device can be deleted but the replacement really can't be copied. It's giving the error there's no sufficient space (not true) & the file is read only. By the way will this work on both US & UK versions of MS voice command 1.6?

Waiting for your advice... Thanks

hi btec1020

use Spb Pocket Plus to boot the phone into SAFE MODE.

That way you can safely install that file you are having trouble with (the reason why it doesn't want to play nicely is because Voice Command is still in use when you are trying to copy that file over).

Hope that helps you

(for reference, I'm using MSVC UK 1.6 - but can confirm this works with BOTH UK and US versions but not sure about the other languages)
