View Full Version : Volume Too Loud

This may sound totally ridiculous to most of the posts that I found regarding volume on the Hermes (most problems being volume too low), but for me, it's just the opposite. I just got my 8525 and ran the SIM unlock and updated the radio to 1.51. Then, when I went to listen to mp3s via headphones, I realized that the volume was too loud and that the system volume barely affected it. When it was near 0, it would still be too loud, then when I lowered it all the way, it would just be muted.

I know that I can use an in-line volume adapter to lower it, but it's another adapter to connect to the one that already has to convert the mini-USB to 3.5mm and would just make it bulkier.

Are there any software / registry hacks to lower or increase the volume sensitivity control?

the OEM headphones have a volume control on the side, is that not working?

I'm using an adapter to use my own headphones. I tried looking for an adapter that had a volume control, but haven't found one yet. Anyone find one that does that?

emmfan i have the same problem as you. I also have the USB adapter (htc speedport>3.5mm, standard usb, htc speedport) and using my 3.5mm headphones is just WAY too loud. even the default system sounds are painful to listen to, so that throws listening to music out the window. The strange thing is thatI vaguely remember this NOT being a problem... either way, I have the same symptoms as you. The system volume sliders do extremely little in way of volume changing, too... I'd really like if there was some way to fix this, because now my investment in the Adapter is going to be a waste..

Hmmm, I don't remember if the WIZARD had a 2.5 or 3.5 connector but it had a VOLUME CONTROL. Maybe (in worst case with an additional adapter from 3.5 to 2.5) it will work properly?

I ended up getting an additional adapter for volume control (http://www.amazon.com/Shure-EA650-Control-Isolating-Earphones/dp/B000GTBDBA/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-5687104-1937512?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1193240874&sr=8-1), which made the cable ridiculously long. Too bad they don't have a mini-USB to 3.5mm adapter with a built-in volume control. I also noticed that I lost some sound quality when I used the volume control adapter.

I finally decided to try a bluetooth headphone adapter and went with the i.Tech Clip R35 (http://www.itechdynamic.com/en/products_spec.asp?cid=2&pid=02030). The sound wasn't so good with winmo5, but now that I upgraded to winmo6, it's a lot better. And no more unnecessary adapters and cables, plus AVRCP makes controlling music even easier.

Sorry to bring up an old post, but haven't been able to find a fix yet. Anyways, I am having the same volume problem. The system volume is on the next to the last click, and media player is down to 5%, and it's still way too loud. Any help? I updated my 8525 to Schlap's 4.22 if that helps.

could that be some kind of bug? i cant imagine what its like at 100% with max system volume. lol..

i listen to music with in-ear earphones via usb-3.5mm adapter too.

i put the system volume to level 3, sounds beautiful to me.. neither loud nor soft. and volume of incoming calls/sms tones are just nice too..

the volume of music doesnt change much by adjusting the volume of the media player, its more dependent on the system volume.

and i found out that if your system volume is, for example, 50%, the volume of the media player is actually capped at 50%. that means there is no difference if you increase the player's volume beyond 50%. (applys to htc audio manager, not sure about wmp)

btw im using softbank x01ht with official htc rom

does your media player app have an equalizer/pre amp function (TCPMP) you can turn that down or disable the EQ making the volume lower

I've been using windows media player, but also tried HTC music player. Same thing for both. I have also tried the equilizer both on and off, and different settings. No difference, what so ever.

Since I received a 'extUSB --> 3.5mm' converter today I've the same problem.
Just to loud even when everything is put on the lowest setting possible.
Anyone a solution?

After upgrading to Windows Mobile 6, this doesn't seem to be a problem. But most of the time I am using Bluetooth headphones which also work much better in winmo6.

Playing a song on Windows Media Player with left volume slider down to 1 click and volume of player at 5%. Still way too loud for office use without headphones.

I just tried it with TCPMP - the same song - and volume contorl knob for TCPMP fixed the problem. Anyone know why Media Player is doing this?

I've received today a new headset I ordered for my Hermes. It's the HTC U110 Headset Audio Adapter with 3.5 mm audio jack.
The headset has no volume control and now the volume is way too loud (and noisy).
Is there already a solution for this?
