HTC Touch Launcher (Chinese)

I've seen a HTC-made animated launcher in another topic.

Some forum mates have successfuly installed it, but the big problem is that the prog is in Chinese...

Would anyone try to make an English version of it?

Well i like it very much and it is sort of working , but no english , looked in the app folders and the registry but i cannot recognize what to change so i removed it

I dug into it and by trial/error I was able to delete/create new shortcuts for system setings.
For some obscure reason I was not able to assign any new applications.
Can anybody who owns a Chinese enabled device, try this and maybe help us understand the menu/options?

Hmm....that one is a Simplify Chinese Version....this one is Traditional Chinese Version.....

Anyway, it is more likely the same, just change the wordings in the xml file and you will get a working English version.

You might've noticed, there're 2 number delimited by comma in every shortcut. Eg. Bluetooth, the 2 numbers are "23,0". The first number is the id for Bluetooth, while the second number is the tab's id. If you open up the bluetooth setting, you will see 3 tabs: Mode, Devices, and COM Ports. 0 is for the first tab, 1 is for the second, and so on. So if you wish to open up Bluetooth and point straight to the Devices tab, just change it to "23,1".

3) the number preceding the # character is the length of the path including the quotes (" "). eg. The length of "\Windows\cprog.exe" is 20.

I also tried to make a cab with just the replaced xml and kept failing.
BTW you cannot use "&" in the xml else the app fails, so you cannot launch the picture viewer now, you got to change it in start menu, or make a direct link to it.
ATM translating the exe but can't read Chinese, but succesfully translated some random text.

Should make some modifications in exe/dll files too. The application is trying to access \Windows\“开始”菜单\程序\ folder instead of \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\

That should be changed to be able to use the full functionality of the program, and it is not in XML file, unfortunately

A resource hacker is a no-go, if you want to change specific strings you can't run the app anymore.

This is a partial translation, install the original cab, and replace the exe and xml from both this zip and the one I posted earlier.
Sometimes I had to come up with funny translations as the programe would else crash, thus cancel became no, custom icon just icon, and provider became net.
Other parts I couldn't get working in a right way so are still as they were.
Maybe someone else can translate it better.

XML is a very powerful language, it won't fail on an '&' issue. XML has a code for some of the symbols. Use these, it should work. List of common symbols.

You're not missing much, it's still version 1.0 and not particularly usefull.
It does work though on my x500 and on a wizard with wm6 rom.
The files are signed so it should work, or you could try to search for the signer tool on this forum, but remember, signing an already signed file causes the file to not work anymore.

I would have thought that by now someone would have solved the signing issues. ANYWAY, my attempt to remove the signature. I didn't test these because I do not have a WM6 with me (I think it runs on WM6 only - at least, it doesn't seems to run on my WM5).

Attached a ZIP file with the modified latest exe from above. In the ZIP file, there is two version, the dDockView.exe is unsigned (I think I had the signature removed) and the dDockView2.exe is signed (removed and signed).

Anyone test them and see if it works.

Anyway, from the looks of it, it doesn't seems to have been translated (not part of my effort here). See if it works or not.

NOTE: You need to get the original CAB, installed, then replace the EXE and XML with the attached. Doesnt work with just the stuff in the ZIP file.

That's the one I've got from dcoloane (post #33 above). Seems he haven't got each and everyone of them. You can try out PE Explorer (use the trial) to have the language change and remove the signature.

Here's a ddockview.xml which points to things a little better for the mogul. Also changed a few of the names of things to be a little more understandable to your common mobile user.

Note: The SMS link doesn't work unless you installed Palm Threaded SMS. Weird, I know. I've also taken out a few links to HTC extras like audio manager.

The app you are pointing for is made in wisbar, wich is very hard on the memory and interface stolen from dDockView.

dDockView is very(and i mean: VERY) light on the memory, thats why people want to translate it so hard.

Ok, it seems the header time/date is still in Chinese. Anyway, just to check with you, I looked into the internal part of the software, there seems to be a setting portion which you seems to be able to change the clock to 'English'. Have you ticked that box? Or that option is not available? Attached the dialog that I've found for it.
