Surely coming to proclip soon though...
The active one looks great. Swivels and lets it open while in the holder by the looks of things. Plus it looks like there is lots of room behind the handset allowing you to have an expanded battery.

Just spoke with ProclipUSA they have placed their orders with Brodit and expect their car cradles in a week....possibly two.

I just ordered mine.
According to Brodit and the people I purchased from (Who had a demo unit):
+ The holder WILL rotate from landscape to portrait while fixed in place
+ You CAN open the keyboard whilst in the holder
- The ACTIVE holder does NOT have a headphone socket and the cord to the cigarette lighter is NOT detachable. Thus, if you want audio out via the USB whilst charging, get a PASSIVE holder and the relevant adapters.

With my TyTN's active Brodit holder, I removed the USB charger from the holder and replaced it with the HTC y-cable and was able to get audio and charge at the same time. Should be the same straightforward swap with the Kaiser holder.

Hmm, I emailed Brodit about this subject and they informed me that the cable was permanently wired to the holder.
Can you by any chance send a pic? Maybe they got the wrong end of the stick. Stock arrives in 7 days or so, so I don't have long to change my order.
Good spot! There's a few UK sites that have these listed already, but I'm having trouble finding somewhere that sells both the holders and a USB/3.5mm splitter. Getting them from separate sites is probably going to be more hassle than it's worth in terms of delivery costs...
Anyone know of anywhere that sells both?

someone needs to design one of those splitters so that it basically extends the bottom of the Kaiser, maybe clipping in to the holes for the lanyard.
That way, you could keep it on whilst in your pocket (Yes, I keep my kaiser in my pocket) and not be afraid of there being twisting forces on the miniusb socket.
Sort of like this one but better moulded to the shape of the kaiser:

Apologies for quoting myself, but I've just taken my phone out in sunlight for the first time since I got it (stupid British weather)... Now I need somewhere that sells the Brodit mounts, a splitter cable, and something to make the screen visible outdoors!

The adapter is screwed into the base of the holder, and can be removed with a couple of screws. To use the y-cable, you need to remove the rubber/plastic casing around the end of the connector.
Here's a couple pics of it installed. Sorry, I don't have any of it apart but I should be getting a Tilt tomorrow and once I get the mount I'll post pics.

Thanks ever so much for the info, I will call the people I am getting it from (http://www.dsldevelopments.com/ , who have been very helpful) and see if their sample one could be modified the same way.

I'm trying to decide between the active and passive holders myself. Can you let us know what they say?

Unless they've changed how the usb cable is attached to the mount it should swap the same way. If you get yours first LMK how it works :)

Dont they have something similar with a suction cup? I dont want to drill holes in my car....

The beauty of the Proclip is that you don't need to drill anything. They're designed to snap around the trim, which is why you need to get one specific to your car model. Removing it is just a case of pulling it away.

Our USB cables are bare, they don’t have the plastic casing surround over the plug, as this is the ony way to ensure a tight and accurate fix, you may be able to DIY this solution as per the thread
I am torn!!
I may go for the active holder as if it comes to the worst you could always just hacksaw it off.

does anyone make a car adapter that is compatible with a weighted friction mount?
Garmin devices have this thing called a friction mount that is weighted. basically the underside is a soft rubber material that keeps the base from moving, and it is filled with about a pound (1/2 kilo for those across the pond) of sand. the base is very sturdy. i have taken many trips with this base with no movement at all.

You have to remove the plastic casing around the USB plug of the audio/power adapter for it to fit, but it fits perfectly once you do that. I have an active holder on order and will post pics when I make the swap.

That's my cousin's business and they obviously come highly recommended. They've got an high level of expertise on all things Brodit, so any questions will be dealt with professionally.

This is exactly what I was thinking of doing when my Kaiser mount arrives. How did you cut away the usb plug surround to make it fit in the holder clamp?
Thanks

Can you post part numbers for the pieces you used to make this EXCELLENT mount? I don't see an adapter cable like the one shown in your picture. The mount I believe is the active holder?
Any more pictures and part numbers would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Hello all...
I’m trying to assemble a car mount for my AT&T 8925 Tilt (AKA HTC TyTnII). What I want is a Brodit 971752 Active Holder Tilt Swivel for fixed installation, (or similar) with charger lead connections and audio breakout jack.
I want a cable that is secured to the mount like the one shown by URPREY so that the PPC connects when it’s dropped into the mount and the cable(s)runs behind the dash and splits out for power and 2.5 or 3.5mm audio jack. I want to be able to drop the phone into the mount and have the mini USB connector fit into the jack on the bottom of the phone without having to constantly fiddle with cables all over the cab of the vehicle.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I used the y-cable that came with my 8525 and the Brodit/Proclips active car mount with cigarette lighter adapter. The HTC y-adapter will work fine as well. I'm still waiting to receive my Brodit Tilt active holder but once I get it I'll post pics of the process. It's really pretty trivial and requires almost no modification. The holder doesn't require any mods at all, and the y-cable just needs the rubber around the USB connector removed to fit in the mount.

My passive holder and proclip arrived this morning (dsl developments) and fits perfectly.
I also already have a car charger so couldn't see the point in basically paying £10 for a cable I already have, and that tenner bought the proclip for my car.
Pics once the England match has finished.

WARNING!!
The kaiser active holder from brodit does NOT have the screws holding the usb plug to the holder that robt2379's hermes holder does.
It looks to me like the block has been melted on, I do not see a way to remove the block at all, though there is a slight seam around the middle of the block (through the usb connector and wire) but I don't see that coming apart easily without a hacksaw.
I have emailed brodit and suggested that they replace the hard-wired cable with an ext usb pass-through. I really do not see the logic in manufacturing two versions of the active holder - one with cigarette lighter, one with molex - why not just one with a usb connector and two different cables?
