Hi Oli - thanks for pointing your skills at us Cheetah owners. Pof and I exchanged quite a bit of dialogue on this not too long ago, but he's been super busy focusing on Hermes work.

I've already got a cooked ROM set aside for testing once the whole signing thing is knocked out. =)

OK, here's what I have, and what I need

last night, I was given the WM6 leaked NBH; good news for you chaps is that it contains an SPL.

second bit of good news is that I've patched it with no problems.

the bad news is that obviously I don't own a Cheetah, so I need someone who does to setup VNC on their computer so I can VNC in and try and get the SPL to run on their device.

the chances of bricking your device in the process of getting the SPL to soft-load is pretty much 0%.

so... any takers? please?

P.S: on further investigation, I'd also like to point out that if we can get Hard-SPL working on it, sim-unlocking (if necessary for some devices?) should then be achieveable :)

I sent you a PM with my MSN ID. I'm set up with terminal access into the bootloader and whatnot, and have a cooked ROM which I *think* I've built with the proper parts in all the correct places.

Can't decide which ROM to start with as a base for modification. All the released ROMs and the leaked ATT ROM appear identical as far as the OS and Palm widgets goes. The various radios have different versions, but from reading the forums I can't tell whether one is truly better than another as far as stability and reception. hmm. I'll take the radio from the latest Voda release and see what we get.

I guess to start out I'll do what I did with Wizard ROMs and strip carrier stuff out, add some ringers and perhaps a few of the free utils. I'm not big on adding commercial software to cooked ROMs that are made public...hypocritical yeah, but still.

Any suggestions?

Olipro will release his unlocker soon, and I can tell yall now that both he and Pof are deserving of big time praise and thanks. I don't think either one of them sleeps...ever. And both are extremely generous with their time and expertise. Donate to their beer/vacation/device fund if you can. =)

Depends on what the problem is. It could be as simple as the change in user agent that is reported by the browser and WF not having added it to their approved list. I'll see what I can find out. Do you know if any other WM6 devices can access WF?

A sure fix, one that I implemented recently, is chaning my bank from Wells Fargo to WaMu. Much happiness. =)

I wouldn't suggest going quite that far down the Hermes route. =) There's likely enough difference in the hardware (graphics device, buttons, etc) that it wouldn't run very well. Hermes radio code *does* run nicely on the 750, and Olipro's unlocker will flash one of the better versions to the Treo after unlocking.

My question is by running this software will I immediately have to load a new ROM? Will I lose all the registry tweaks that I have done to my current ROM. I would like to unlock my phone, but I don't have time today to mess with all the setting to get them right.

Is the radio flash part of the unlocking step, or is it a seperate option (one of the optional steps mentioned in the first post). I've got a non-locked 750, so I don't really want to mess with that part if I don't need to.

I couldn't run the software at the time as I was sitting in front of a Mac.

Anyhow, apologies if I didn't word my question very clearly. I was trying to understand whether I could flash the radio without running the unlock step (since summiter was suggesting that you're using a better radio version). Now that I've been able to run the .exe file I see that this is possible.

Must be doing something wrong. I keep getting error 270. It starts to update and goes to the bootloader, which seems to disconnect it from the sync. It then gives me the error and says that I might have application lock. Not sure what that means. Thanks for any help.

Finally got the Treo 750. notice your utility says it must be synced via activesync, when i go online to download latest version of active sync, its says that this will now be managed through "Windows mobile device center"as i am running Vista...i hope it works..........

Update.....dont think it worked...how to check? dont have any other sim, didnt take anywhere near the 20 mins it was supposed to

For ROM-Updates or tools like this it's much better to use Windows XP (with Active Sync 4.5) than Windows Vista (with WMDC). To do updates with Vista checkout this guide:

Thank you for the link.....i learnt that the hard way..was awake till 3:30 AM trying to get this to work. definitely not good to do via Vista. I switched to my backup XP laptop and was able to do it.

Very simple in XP. you will require the latest .net platform. I am not sure if it was supposed to give me the errors I got (bad/ corrupt image file, etc). Was this because it was a quickie development from the Hermes tool? Did you guys get similar errors? Because of this I am not even sure if it is fully unlocked or if my radio file is the right one. how do i check?

However, I figured i would do the WM6 update and it went through. I figured as I was using a Cingular device and the ROM I was about to use is an AT&T ROM, I might be ok....

Mine is the same as it was before the update. I had already updated to the AT&T WM6 ROM, so I don't think that you need to have it unlocked to do that.

I am hoping that someone can explain where I am going wrong. I am thinking that it has something to do with syncing. When I start the process it is synced, but as soon as I click OK in the update window it loses sync and that is when I get the error that the file is corrupt.

The Aussie 3 ROM to me is the cleanest and snappiest performer for a base ROM. As for suggestions as to what to add, I'd like touchFLO. Can't think of anything else I'd like to see as a forced install - prefer to install what I want when I want. But touchFLO needs to be part of the ROM as I understand it.

You should be able to run the unlocker just fine on Vista.

Establish a WMDC connection - if successful you should be able to browse your device from your PC. (No need to set up a full partnership).

Once WMDC connection is established, start the unlocker. It should run through as intended from there.

If the unlock was successful, you should see SPL-1.40.OliNex as your SPL version when going into bootloader manually.

Has anybody attempted to flash a Hermis ROM yet? I am tempted to try and see what happens, hopefully I will not dammage my Treo.

I am actually running XP and Activesync 4.5. The unlocker starts and it loads itsutil.dll and jumpspl onto the device. I then have to manually tell the Treo to run these programs. I then get another dialog box from the unlocker that I have to accept a couple of things and make sure that my Treo is idle by waiting 30 seconds. All is OK to here. I then on my computer get the box that shows a progress meter at 0%. The Treo has entered the bootloader screen, but it has logged off from the activesync session. After about 10 seconds the status bar jumps to 100% and on my computer I get a message that it was unsuccessful and that I have a currupt file. When I return to the main screen of the unlocker it says that it was trying to copy the itsutil.dll and could not, and to check the connection, or possibly my application is locked.

I attempted a couple of times and the same results were repeated. What I'm not sure of is if there is something I need to do with the Treo such as enter into the bootloader manually or possibly change my activesync setting. My other thought is that I already have the leaked ATT WM6 ROM loaded on my device. Could that have something to do with it?

How about VoIP? Anyone have feedback on how that performs on the Treo over 3G?


PS. I haven't seen a lot of love and praise flowing to Olipro! We wouldn't be moving down this path without his tireless work. He spent at least 2 solid days coding and debuging the unlocker. He's modest, shy, and soft-spoken (haha), so I'll say it for him - if you benefit from his unlocker, either the SIM unlock or the ability to run cooked ROMs, consider donating something to him. What shows up for the SPL version when you go into your bootloader? (press the small reset button while holding the PTT/Windows Media button on the side)

For the heck of it, can you download the unlocker again and run through step 2 and 3 again? To be able to select them, select the bottom window of the unlocker and press "@". That should enable the step 2 and 3 buttons.

What shows up for the SPL version when you go into your bootloader? (press the small reset button while holding the PTT/Windows Media button on the side)

For the heck of it, can you download the unlocker again and run through step 2 and 3 again? To be able to select them, select the bottom window of the unlocker and press "@". That should enable the step 2 and 3 buttons.

Ah..yeah, not well.

Can you repeat the entire process? Be sure to allow the WMDC/Activesync connection to occur, and also watch your device since you might be prompted to allow the install of a dll.

When I get home in a couple hours I'll run through the process again and make note of any places where timing is important..in at least one place the connection dropped and you have to give it a bit to re-establish before proceeding.

Yes, I have Framework 2.0.

Another update ... managed to get Step #2 to start running, but am now seeing an "Error 270" The image file is corrupted please check your update utility.

After that a window comes up that says "Read This Through! Your device must be unlocked with a program, please configure your device and then connect and sync with Activesync. After doing so, click OK and watch your device screen.

After following through this, it appears to work, and I am able on the device to select the SIM and CID update, which completes, and I am able to go to Step #3 ... but when I run Step #3, the "Error 270" Update Error comes back up.

Not sure where to go from here. Thanks for everyone's help so far.

Here's what I did after getting error 270 on step 1 :
- While the Cheetah Unlocker is still open, go to C:\TempChe directory and copy the files, Cert_SPCS.cab and EnableRapi.cab, to root directory of a Treo and run both cabs on it.
- Close the Cheetah Unlocker and re-open it again and start Step 1 Flash SPL again following the steps in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335661 and it works for me.

It wouldn't reboot back to WM until I disconnect the USB cable and Soft-Reset. Trying to move to Step #2 gives me errors again.

I am at least back to SPL-0.21.000 and the phone works, but I have never managed to get all the steps to run without errors.

I'm giving up ... appreciate all the help, but this isn't working on my AT&T 750.

It won't go back to WM until I disconnect the USB cable and Soft-Reset. Trying to move to Step #2 gives me errors again.

Do a soft reset and try again. If not, try and download the unlocker and start over. That is what I had to do.

I was getting the errors as you can see in my previous posts. I was able to run step 1 & 2 without errors only after executing the cab files manually on the device. also, i had to execute the cabs again after step 1, else I was getting same errors. my SPl is finally changed. Does that mean its unlocked? How else to check?

I was having the same issue. You need to copy the 2 cab files from C:/tempche to your device and manually run them. Then you can follow the directions in the unlocker program and everything should work. You may have to re-install the 2 cab files on the device before doing step 2. I did, but I'm not sure if it was necessary.

Also after the radio was updated I did need to re-enter the domain name and password for my ISP. So you should have that info handy.

I can report that after doing this the phone has Hard-SPL and is unlocked.

Does anyone know what radio version is included with the package? I know that I did read that it was a good one...

I've managed to patch JumpSPL to do a little bit more than just load the SPL so now I can produce a proper Soft-loader for PDA.

Good call. If you have a card in the device and it has a file named cheeimg.nbh on it, any time the device is sent into bootloader (via software or hardware) it will launch right into the flashing screen asking to proceed.

I have run the process (receiving the 270 error) and after installing the cabs the process supposedly finished and my sim was unlocked (I did not unlock the CID). I now get "37002" in the carrier name and my sim was not unlocked.

My phone and data both work, however, my data speed has decreased dramatically. The phone says its connected with HSDPA, however I´m only getting around 125kbps d/l speeds.

What can I do? Can I uninstall this and flash the ROM back?

I completed the update, but for some reason when I switch to GSM radio I am not getting "E" icon, only "G" and it appears that there are only GPRS speeds. Is anyone else having this issue? Not sure if it has something to do with the radio that was installed or possibly a network issue in my area...

I´m having the same problem. I have HSDPA in my area, and although I´m getting the H and the 3G icons, I´m only getting GPRS speeds. I´m thinking along the same lines. That it has something to do with the radio installed. Could we flash the radio version alone?

I have hard resetted and reflashed the WM6 ROM with no help. The process completed "sucessfully" and right now the phone works, but data only works at GPRS speeds. I guess we´ll have to wait for Olipro´s new release and see what happens.

Here's what I did. This seemed to work perfectly. I have not been able to check whether my Treo is fully unlocked (do not have a foreign sim available just yet), however I was able to flash a Hermes radio.

The steps:

Turned off security on the device by running the Security Configuration Manager.
(SCM is available from http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=157)
Instructions to install & run the program are available from there, as well as the .cab and program you will need.

After turning off security, I started the Cheetah Unlocker, but copied the two cabs from the C:/TempChee folder to my device, and ran them before I sent the device into Bootloader mode. After this, I followed the instructions to the letter and had no issues.

After all was said and done, I was getting slow data speeds. It was mentioned earlier in the thread that we can use Hermes radio code, so I flashed radio 1.54.07.00. (available from the Hermes upgrading forum here on XDA.) After this, the data speeds were much improved.

The Treo seems to run normally, with a speed increase on dialing and hanging up from calls. I am not sure whether that is just a function of the device having a fresh ROM install or the new radio.


(On a side note, Olipro- your work on the unlocker is much appreciated!)

How did you flash this radio. I've tried but my screen goes dark and them I get a Error message that my pc can't communicate with mydevice. I am unlocked so I am a little confused.

In the temp files created by the radio software nstaller, I found the .nbh file, renamed it to CHEEIMG.NBH and flashed that to my treo using the SD card bootloader method (hold down "media" button and hit reset at the same time.) The phone came up with the "CHEEIMG.NBH" standard flashing screen (grey, with progress bar at the bottom). Unlike normal flashes, the only thing listed was "GSM"- obvious, since we're only flashing the radio code.

OK I was able to fix my issue of not getting "E" and I also noticed that I was not getting "H" when in 3G. It had something to do with the radio. I flashed it to 1.54.07.00 Hermes. Everything is back to nomal and speeds are good. The interesting part was that I had a network outage last night and this started the problem.

Flashed the radio with 1.54.07.00 and my speed is back. Used bootloader method described by jaadkd36. My last tested d/l speed was 810 kbps.

However, my SIM is still locked. Last time I checked it said I had tried 11 times and that I had to wait. Don´t know if I´ll try again, maybe I´ll wait for the new release.

can you explaine how exactly you manage to boot from SD card to flash radio in to Cheeta , i loaded the file as per previos post but it doesnt boot to radio upgrade screen , i renamed NBH file ,loaded to sd and nothing hapening when i try to reboot by pressing media botton and reset .

Just a warning... there is a possibility the SPL for Cheetah doesn't support the rseed command as required by radio BL 0108 and hence... those on 1.54.07.00 might well be stuck with it.

Can't wait to see the many different Treo ROM's! Until today I've found myself a bit out of the ordinary since I've switched from the HTC Prophet to my Treo 750v. Fewer tweaks, and almost no ROM's. Now there is light again at the end of the tunnel :D


I was typing this while finished Step 2. After this I've got the Error for .NET as mentioned before in this thread.
Downloaded the latest: CheetahUnlocker.exe But I can't find any .CAB in C:\TempChe
Also installed Cert_SPCS.cab that was already on my PC, I used this also to get rid of the anoying messages when I want to install CAB's on my Treo.
I didn't let me proceed with Step 3, so I'm still stuck there :(

Since I own a SIM unlocked Treo I've read that I only had to finish Step 1. Now I've finished Step 1 and 2.
As I understand I don't need to perform Step 2 and 3, since my Treo is SIM unlocked already!
I was wondering, is it okay? Since I've finished Step 2 and didn't proceed with Step 3.

Again, I should go to sleep.. ..so I will check in again tomorow :)

I think I should just shoot myself :p Wasn't able to start step 3. It shows the message that my device should be unlocked with a program? Checked the temp dir for the 2 CAB files, but there not there.

After I hit OK on the unlock message I get the .NET error.

Has anybody had a problem with signal strengh after this? I am having major strengh loss. Before I was getting full bars, now about 3 bars, plus alot of missed calls. Not dissing anybody, just want to know so mabey we can fix this.

I didn't really notice signal strength issues, but I was having a lot of trouble with the data connection. It was working fine for a while and then started to drop the signal and not show the "H" when transmitting in 3g. I flashed a more recent Hermes radio (1.54.07.00) and all problems were fixed. I however was told by Olipro that this may cause issues and I may not be able to change the radio again. For now everything is working great and without issue. This was all with the original unlocker. I'm not sure if the new unlocker has a different radio or if there was something else causing the issues.

I have seen from earlier posts that there's a version 1.54... of the radio firmware available (from the Hermes?), and I'm keen to improve the phone performance of my device. I've got 1.52.30.00 at the moment - which is better than the Vodafone one (1.47...) at holding onto a call, but can still be a bit flakey.

I've run the unlocker, which worked ok (somehow my MiniSD card got corrupted, cos I didn't take it out of the slot), and then ran the 'Unlock Radio' step. This caused my Treo screen to go black and disconnected the device from the PC. I tried it a number of times, and always the same. I have never reached 'step 3' in the application, to update the radio.

In the end I decided to re-format the MiniSD card, put the CHEEIMG.nbh file onto it and re-boot back to the H3 ROM, as it was before.

I want to try again, so is there something I'm not doing in the process? Also, Olipro said that the 1.54... version may cause other issues - should I just stay away from it and put up with my current versions anomalies?

well, it won't cause any "issues" per se... it might however prove to be the last radio you ever flash since I'm not sure if the Cheetah SPL can properly authenticate with the newer radio BL, meaning basically, once you bung 1.54 on, because the SPL can never properly authenticate, the Radio BL would in such an instance, block all attempts at changing the radio firmware.

to use the Cheetah unlocker, when you get to step two, here's what should happen; first your phone's radio is flashed.

second you must then wait for your phone to reset and become synced with Activesync on the PC; do not touch any dialogs until this has happened.

after that, continue with the unlocker dialogs and it will send (via activesync) the program to perform the actual commands to unlock the device (a little program pops up on the cheetah's screen).

Before I do though, and given what you've said about the radio software, I have one further question. Has Radio v1.54.. shown that it's an improvement in any way over the H3 version I've already got - v1.52.30.00? I know from other postings in this forum that the H3 version is said to be 'more stable' than the Vodafone (v1.47..) version.

My main issue with the phone at the moment is that it shows a weak-ish signal (2 bars) where it used to be med-strong (3-4 bars) on my previous (Nokia) phone.

And the call stability is a little bit flakey too, so I get drop-outs on calls where they didn't happen before.

Of course, this could be a hardware 'feature' with the Treo, and not solvable by upgrading the firmware - but I can't find out for sure.

I figured you might know, or have a reasoned opinion, about this. Do you?

I can vauch for what Olipro says. I thought that I was radio unlocked when I swithed over to the Hermes 1.54.10 Radio, via sd card. I later tried to switch to the new ATT 1.54.07 radio with no success. Hope that there will be a fix for this later on.

Extract the ROM image from the updater using winrar. Rename the ROM image from cheeimg_fw.nbh to cheeimg.nbh and put it on a FAT32 formatted miniSD card. Hold the PTT/Windows Media button while pressing the reset button. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the flash.

Once flashed, don't attempt to unlock or flash your device ever again..it's not for you.

I'm testing it now. It is not Freeze Free in Japan, but I feel it is very fast and more stable than any WM6 ROMs.

Unfortunatelly, My Japanese Custom ROM uses MMS Lite. It's a ultra lite MMS plug-in for tmail.exe. But it supports only Softbank JP. And the ROM is a VERY HEAVY of storage use.(Storage Total:50.80MB:eek: )

I think ROM diet is not so difficut. There are many informations for ROM customize in Hermes forum. And nbsplit/nbmerge(.nb file utility) works with -hermes option for Treo750.

Rather, JumpSPL and Bootloader.exe are loaded only.

Can't wait to see the many different Treo ROM's! Until today I've found myself a bit out of the ordinary since I've switched from the HTC Prophet to my Treo 750v. Fewer tweaks, and almost no ROM's. Now there is light again at the end of the tunnel :D


I was typing this while finished Step 2. After this I've got the Error for .NET as mentioned before in this thread.
Downloaded the latest: CheetahUnlocker.exe But I can't find any .CAB in C:\TempChe
Also installed Cert_SPCS.cab that was already on my PC, I used this also to get rid of the anoying messages when I want to install CAB's on my Treo.
I didn't let me proceed with Step 3, so I'm still stuck there :(



Tried installing Cert_SPCS.cab and Enablerapi.cab I've found on the net. Still the same. Could not get passed step 3.

Since I own a SIM unlocked Treo I've read that I only had to finish Step 1. Now I've finished Step 1 and 2.
As I understand I don't need to perform Step 2 and 3, since my Treo is SIM unlocked already!

Do a hard reset on your device before you start - it is important to remove any/all security options ahead of time. Your phone is going to get flashed anyhow so this shouldn't be a big deal to do first.

In one of the steps I ran into some problems. For whatever reason, the AthenaUnlock executable did not copy to the phone and launch - I kept getting errors? So, I manually copied from the temp directory on my PC and executed it on the phone.

I also had a problem with flashing the radio back to a "standard" radio, the last step in the process, I kept getting some kind of .NET error message. To flash back to a real radio, I simply ran the newly released 2.23 ROW WM6 install and got the most recent authentic TREO radio from Palm loaded.

Everything seems good so far. I hope this helps someone.

Oli I cant get to step 2 and 3, I did manage however to unlock the device. Can you please tell me if I can use 'cheetarestore.nbh' from temche by renaming it to cheeimg.nbg and using it from a card to get back my standard radio, I am stuck with the downgraded radio.
ALso I have a generic/unbranded official wm6 for cheeta and it never runs on the treo from At&T, I have sim unlocked and CID unlocked it. Is there a way to use it on my device, it says it is not for this device.

Bc my file in D:\, TempChe will in D:\. The command will file not found when copy unlocker to my device.

I've also got the same problem. Seems that the unlocker somehow didnt re-flash the original SPL back to the Treo, and so the old one remains.

To update to WM6, your going to have to use the Memory Card method. Get a ROM of your choice, use WINRAR to extract the files in that ROM. You should be looking for the largest file in the ROM which should be called CHEEIMG.nbh

First you need to format your memory card, and then copy over the CHEEIMG.nbh file to your memory card. With the memory card inserted into the TREO, you need to get into bootloader and follow the instructions on screen. If all goes well, then you should have WM6 installed within 10 minutes.

After its done upgrading, simply do a hard reset and your done.

The only problem is though, the SPL does not change and it still says 1.40 OliNex! :confused: This does not seem to cause me any problems and WM6 is running smooth and I now have a super CID and SIM unlocked Treo.

Is there anyway we can extract just the SPL from somewhere and install it? Might be worth mentioning that after having upgraded to WM6, when I connect my device to the PC and run the TREO UPDATER, it still says "DEVICE NOT COMPATIBLE"

I thought maybe now that I have WM6 the updater might work and if it did then I would run the UPDATER to UPGRADE to WM6 again, in the hope that the SPL would be UPGRADED to the latest one!

I too also have the same problem and have done the steps mentioned from Dead Cell to flash WM6 from the sd card method, however for me although my device is now running on WM6 and is working perfectly smooth, I think the phones radio hasnt been changed to the latest radio, and I have lost my orignal radio as I have skipped step 3 in the unlocking tool. Also after the phone has been updated to the WM6 OS, when I go to About, the software version is still the same as it was on WM5 before the update ( Software version : TREO750-1.13-CNG), as well as the SPL still being 1.14 OliNex. Is there any kind of fix for this as I want the orignal radio for the phone as some people have mentioned that when they speaking to me on the phone, they can hear themselves :confused: , anyway gays I hope one of you can fix this problem and help all of us useless people out there.

EDIT: Ok, never mind. I guess I should have read through the thread before asking... Hey Immb, copy the C:\TempChe\athena_unlock.exe file to your Treo and execute it. Then reflash the radio using the tool, or (I assume) a ROM that includes a radio. (Is that correct? Can someone confirm that? Will another ROM that contains a radio serve as a reflash?)

I have the same problem, but cant get past with the steps mentioned.

I get to step 2, then get the error. I send the unlock program over to my phone and ran it, it says "Device SIM locks removed". From there the CheetahUnlocker stays on step 2 and wont let me proceed to step 3.

What can I do to send the radio back to the phone?
Also Ive tried the 2.23 update (with the modified file) but it says the update isnt meant for my phone.

Guys, I have solved some of the problems I had, for example, when I go into the about in windows mobile 6, it now tells me that I have 2.23 in software version. However, I still get "CHEE 100 IPL 0.20 and CHEE 100 SPL 1.40 OliNex.." when I go into bootloader mode. :confused: The thing is it dont really bother me much and my device is working perfectly fine as a phone and pda, however a friend of mine is saying my gsm radio hasnt been updated. Is there a way of being to update just the radio to the latest radio? Or am I stuck with the Hermes gsm radio from the unlocking tool?

Any help would be appriacted alot.

when you flash Hard-SPL your device version will say 1.40.OliNex because IT IS RUNNING HARD FUCKING SPL... the whole POINT of this is that it perpetually remains on the phone so that in the event you completely fuck your device up by doing something retarded like knocking the USB cable out, or your PC crashing, you can simply just start the flash procedure again to recover.

for those of you with the GSM issue: if you're running the 1.54 radio for hermes, then you're stuck with it.

tested unlock on one of treo 750 device (initially sfr locked).
bit strange. spl patched. radio seems patched, but second part of radio patch, after patched radio flashed, does not go well.
although, sim seems to be unlocked, there is no chance to flash rom, neither original french, nor english.
flahser may check not only cid, but model id as well. don't know must be clarified.
why unlock is not performing all stages???
you load haret with patched spl, jump to spl and flash device with new patched spl
then you patch radio. what you do when patched radio is flashed?
it appears many people report errors at this stage.

if this could be usefull.
for those who has a problem updating device with different rom (language, version).
first of all, use Olipro hard spl / hard work.
ignor error that appears during radio patching (haven't figure out what is wrong with it).
extract file from zip (for example Treo750_2_23_ROW_EN_DesktopUpdater.zip) -> Treo750_2_23_ROW_EN_DesktopUpdater.exe
extract Treo750_2_23_ROW_EN_DesktopUpdater.exe with winrar
get the flasher from different device (i was using one for artemis)
copy CHEEIMG_FW.nbh to the directory wher you have flasher files.
for artemis flasher, you need following files: EnterBootloader.exe, rapitool.exe, ROMUpdateUtility.exe, RUUGetInfo.exe, RUUResource.dll.
run ROMUpdateUtility, it will flash your device with nbh you have copied in the same folder.
spl did not change after flashing, strange. so no need to reflash it.

Thanks to you Olipro, I was able to finally install the WM6 update. Before using the unlocker, the desktop updater refused to even see my phone and the SD updater would fail installing the OS. After using the unlocker, I was able to use the SD updater.

Just purchased a Treo 750 on WM5 and was wondering about loading the Hard SPL onto it before I load WM6 . I did have a DOPOD 838 pro and updated it with Hard SPL and Black Satin this was the best move. The phone was great after the update.

I'll post my experience with hard spl.

Again I must say...not everything is working...

I run CheetahUnlocker.exe and pressed the first option. There were two questions on the screen of the phone and i pressed Yes.
The phone enters into bootloader and loads a new SPL.

At the second step i received an error.
So i copied athena_unlock.exe from cache(c:\TempChe) to the phone and run it. i didn't pressed anything i just let it run..
I ran again the second step(first run step 1 and click cancel) and it installed a patched radio to my phone.

After that i ran the athena_unlock.exe checked the 2 options in the interface(unlock and supercid) and pressed unlock.

Now i have an unlocked cheetah, with olipro's SPL.

I don't understand what the third step means.

By no means i cannot run it...

If anyone can help me with the third step...please! what it means how must be done!!

I've read that i can use a rom from palm...
So i downloaded a rom for Vodafone UK my device beeing a vodafone ..
I have input my serial which is in the settings/system/about/phone serial
I've tried with different versions and finally my serial was accepted.
I tried to run the upgrade but i have received the error with incorrect device...so i followed the guide here:

I found a payloads.xlm somewhere in temp and i edited with notepad and replaced the code "VFS" with the one that was shown in the about section of my phone.

I have also made the others two settings : 6 Replace low 1.16 to 1.13
7 Replace high 1.16 to 2.25
after that i started the update..

Now i have a cheetah with WM 6.0 , sim unlocked, and SPL is showing Olipro version.


Hope my experience is helping others like me who missed a guide...

Ok, I have HardSPL now (redownloaded file, deleted all temps). But another problem occured. Someone typed wrong code before I bought that Treo and now it says like "You have tried 2 times, please wait until tiemout". Title of the window is SIM Lock. Can this be reason unlocker doesn't want to unlock? YES! I waited some minutes to the moment I was able to enter code. SoftReseted, run athena_unlock and... simlock is out, bustard! :D

Copy AthenaUnlock.exe from c:\CheTmp to your Treo and run it there. It will unlock your Treo. Check if it's unlocked and flash with any radio and rom you like :)

I had exact same as above.
I Copied AthenaUnlock.exe to Treo and ran it there.
I got:
File or Assembly name 'System,Version= 2.0.0.0, Culture= neutral, Publickey Token=B77A5C561934E089',or one of its dependencies, was not found.

Any Ideas?

Not sure if my 750 is now fully Hard SPL or not.

I flashed the first two steps and after the second step I get the same error as all the people which causes the program to abort. So then I copied the Athena Unlocker file to my SD card and executed it from there.

When I go into bootloader, I see this:

SPL-1.40.0OliNex

Makes me think it worked....but when I try to flash a new Radio or new ROM by putting the NBH file on my SD card and entering bootloader, it says Loading...but then exits to the Bootloader screen.

Where am I? :confused:

I received an error at step 3 of the unlock tool process (I believe this was to reinstall the radio), but I carried on and using the Kaiser_RUU tool installed the "generic" wm6.1 ROM and the 1.5x radio. All seems to be working fine.

On one of the Treo's Step 1 worked fine - I have new spl but on the other Treo, even though the program says everything has been updated, when I go into bootloader, it still displays the original Palm stuff. Ugh...

the mirror link in Post #205 just worked for me...

when you get to the rapidshare page, first click the "free" button, then wait for the countdown and then the file download will start - i just tried it w/o problem

Yeah I tried that - after the countdown I get a message 'invalid download session' or something similar. Tried it 3 times, with firefox and IE, no joy. ?!

What happens when you click "Next" ? Did you just stop at that step b/c you didn't see the image version?

Click "next" and see what happens... I don't think it should be an issue

When I click next it seems that the process continue. But later a massage says: file not found, with options to ignore, continue, cancel.
I click on continue. At the end my treo 750 still unlock.:(

I am have the same thought. I am not sure what's going on. My treo is unlocked, but I have been trying to update my radio to 1.54.07.00 with no luck. I am running wm 6.1 and it runs pefectly however my phone calls are being dropped every few minutes while on a call. I just need to update my radio to something more stable.

I have put the radio file on my the root card folder under CHEEIMG.nbh, held media key and reset with no luck. As well as RUU_signed.nbh in a folder with CheetahUnlocker, KaiserHard-SPL, Hard-SPL, Hard-SPLv7, RomUpgrade, RomUpgradeUt, and RUUWrapper. This is most likely not right at all, but I have tried everything I know. Please help if you can!

In the temp files created by the radio software nstaller, I found the .nbh file, renamed it to CHEEIMG.NBH and flashed that to my treo using the SD card bootloader method (hold down "media" button and hit reset at the same time.) The phone came up with the "CHEEIMG.NBH" standard flashing screen (grey, with progress bar at the bottom). Unlike normal flashes, the only thing listed was "GSM"- obvious, since we're only flashing the radio code.

I can not use the Cheetah Unlocker. While trying to run the program in XP, displays the error message "Error application. Application not initialized correctly ..."

While trying to turn himself in the Treo, appears the following error message:

I was trying to reinstall .NET, but it does not allow, says that the file that I am trying to install already exists. I tried to remove, but does not appear in the Add / Remove Programs, and not through MemMaid or Pocket Mechanic unable to find it.

The first two steps went right. But when finished the "Unlock radio", I click finish, gives me the notice "Read this through!", then click "ok", but then it gives me another message saying that couldnt find the archive athenaunlocker.

I downloaded the Athenaunlocker, and saved it into the same folder that Cheetah, but the same thing happens.

What am I doing wrong?????

Hi, how can I repair treo 750 stucked in bootloader tri color screed of dead? I was trying to unlock at secod step unlock flash stop flashing at 15% and thats it, I cant use sim cid unlocker only stuck in tri mode. Please can anybodyy help how to fix this issue !!


EDIT: Nevermind, I fixed my treo 750 alive again,

All I did extracted file from Original rom, and used TREO Recovery tool and bingo phone alive and flashed with Spanish lang.

i ran the unlocker manually and its unlocked, but now i cant flash the normal radio back.. how do i do that manually?

Hi all, Please help. My phone is dead.

I have Treo 750 ATT unlocked (bought from Ebay). then I traveled outside the USA on a long job assignment. The phone was working fine using the local network. Then I decided to upgrade to win6. I downloaded the upgrade from Palm and upgraded, everything went smooth and the phone was back on the local network. But I wasn't sure if my phone was still unlocked or not. whether I'm roaming or not.

Then I launched Cheetaunlock to unlock the phone, but it will not go step 2. tried several time to no avail. Then I read a lot of posts and I found Athenaunlock, download it and put it on my SD card and executed it. the process went without error and after the phone came back on. I had no RADIO. I tried cheetahunlock again, but same problem. I tried to put the ATT update, but it said it's already been updated.

What should I do, please help ASAP. I'm away from ATT and no one in this country have heard of Palm Treo.

Igone this post. I believe I fixed the problem. I re-installed ATT update using KeiserCustomRUU and my phone is back on. the only thing is I couldn't tell if my phone is still unlocked or not. so I called the local phone company and they say as long as we see your number that's mean you are not roaming.

I got my tre0-750 from ebay,locked to ATT.
I did step #1, step#2 copied athena-unlock from the c:/temp... folder and start it.
Everything was success, but i was not able to start step #3. I tried to put sim card from T-mobile and it works fine. My question is - if i did not make step 3 does it means that i can get some problems? Also, will phone work if i will put sim card from other provider (not ATT or T-mobile)? And can i put a new(custom made) firmware on it?

I just did a hard reset on my AT&T Treo 750 (which I recently upgraded to WM6), connected it to ActiveSync and synched it.

Actually, guys, I finally solved the problem using the RUUWrapper method in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382612&highlight=discovery). I believe the reason for my issues is because my Treo was already unlocked from when I did my WM5 to WM6 upgrade. I just get confused and don't know the exact differences between SIM-unlock, CID-unlock, ROM-unlock, etc.

if I press continue the second stage starts it finishes and sys(your device must be unblocked with a program, please configure your device and then connect and sync. I have Treo 750v loked on Vodofone..
I type random unlock code 2 times. and i use 2 times "Hard-SPL and SIM Unlocker" . My treo on startup write : "You have tried 12 times, please wait until timeout". I'm wait 2 days... and no result(((

I use "CheetahUnlocker"..use STEP2.. he reflash my radio-module.. and program say "you telephone is unlocked!" but on startup SimLock with "wait until timeout"

i have error after flashing :
"CHEETAH UNLOCKER Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click continue ,the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue, if you click quit, the application will close immediately, the system cannot find the file specified"
