Update from 1.51: So far signal strength and voice clarity seem to be a tad better. Out of a total of 14 calls, I did miss one of them for some reason. I'll test data speeds and other parts of my City and report later.

Seems to work OK.

Yeah, I've had the best luck with 1.48 myself. 1.50 & 1.51 seemed to slow down text message receiving and lowered me one or two bars depending on where I was. 1.54 gave me 'G' w/no bars.

First of all, and for the record: I am based in a small Seaside town called Felixstowe, which is on the East Coast of the United Kingdom.
I am on the Orange UK network.
The all round reception of my Hermes has noticeably improved since installing (yesterday) this new version 1.54.00.10_108 Radio version.
Sound Quality (Call Clarity)
Sound quality during calls has certainly acquired a marked improvement.
I have also GAINED two barsinside my apartment which is simply wonderful.
Network Pickup Speed
I do not know if this has anything to do which the radio, but when I switch my phone on, AND after a soft reset, the radio becomes active almost instantly & searches/picks up my cell provider almost instantaneously.This is 100% faster than previous. (FACT!)
Thanks for sharing this rom.

Running it now for 24hrs. I always seem to have to empty my battery completely and recharge it to get an accurate battery usage after every radio flash.
I have noticed that data access whilst it works fine, seems to pause at the start for about 15 to 20 seconds. You open IE for instance load a page and it will set there on "Locating" for about 15 to 20 seconds, then it carries on fine.
Call response is about 2 seconds from "ring ring" on the dialling phone to it ringing on the destination phone.
Due to where I live and work I get high signals normally anyway but they do seem to be staying at 4 bars all the time instead of dropping to 3 bars occasionally.
Anyone else having the data problem?

quick update of noticed changes:
1st. After a few calls, about 10 pushed BB emails, I am still at 100% battery life.
The biggest difference is it will not fall over to Edge as quickly as 1.51 did. If I have a 50% 3G sigal (in building) it will happily stay there, while with 1.51 it would drop down to edge.
This is a huge improvement!
No missed or dropped calls yet

Tried it, everything was fine until I got into an elevator. Once the signal cutoff, it took more than 5 minutes to reacquire after I got off the elevator and once it never did so I had to soft-reset :(
Back to 1.48 since I'm going up and down elevators all the time and don't want to make sure I get a signal every time I get off one.
Btw, I'm in Chicago.

I just upgraded from 1.50. I had 1.40 previously. I was happy with both previous radio roms. I immediately noticed an improvement in reception (1 bar) and faster PIE performance (did not sit "locating" for many seconds). I have seen great battery performance from 1.40 and 1.50. Waiting to see how the battery performs with 1.54. Thanks for making this version available.

I flashed it and now it shows Cingular on my Today screen and on the phone screen. I haven't even played around with it to check the reception, but that's a little bit of a bummer to have that show back up again.
Did I do something wrong? I was running v1.51 and now I have the 1.54, but it's not showing my precious AT&T... WAAAAA!!!
3:43PM - Edit - It found the AT&T and I don't know if it's because I forced the phone to update the network settings, but it didn't work to get my settings at first, then I did another soft reboot and it seemed to pick it all back up. it does bounce around between EDGE and 3G a bit by my office, but I care more about on the ride home, so I'll be checking it out. I have 35 miles of test area from work to home, so it should be interesting. I'll also be in Utah over the next week, so I'm bringing the old versions with me as a just in case! But, so far, it seems to be about as good as 1.51, but we'll see.

Everything goes fine with no problem!
The battery life and data connection seems all the same with 1.51 and 1.54. (no obviously difference but 1.54 signal is stronger in my room)
both ROMs are great for GSM, 3G reception.
No drop call so far and always pick it up with first ringing!:D

I have upladed this new radio in my 8525 and it works great. Edge is FASTER AND THE 3G IS AWSOME!!! The only issue this radio has with my phone is that my phone shows a dropped signal and searching but it still does connect with clarity and high speed data. So all of you people that is looking at a lost signal display on your phones, may not be true. TRY it anyway, I think it's a glitch of the software because like I mentioned before my phone shows that it is searching for an signal but it is fully connected to the network...

After using 1.54 for a couple of days on my 8525 (in the north of boston area), I have to say I'm encountering some issues that I didn't have previously. Basically there are times when the signal will drop to nothing for no apparent reason, a soft reset fixes the problem. As I just bought an 8925 and put the 8525 up on eBay, I think I'll flash back to an older version that was more stable.

Just upgraded 12 hours ago from 1.50. Working fine in HK, 2G, Edge/GPRS with People(Service provider). Battery usage looks OK, signal strength is stronger. Getting a signal (1 bar) deep into my building lobby, about 100' into the building. Previously would lose the signal as I got close to the elevator. GPRS seems faster (subjectively. Did not do any measurements)

Test environment:
- calling to cellphone via:
* landline
* another cellphone
* skypeout
OS environment:
- Pandora's kitchen 7.1 w/ 3.61 Rom
Result:
- Incoming call:
* Receiving phone rings after second ring on calling phone, sometimes third ring. This happens from all three calling options. Prior is 1.51.00.10. Rings on first ring.
* Call quality ok. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to brag about.
- Power signal:
* Either same or less.
* Seems to drop to E when signal drops below 50%. Before, it stayed in 3G/H even with 1 bar.
* Could be considered a feature because if it expends lots of power to maintain 3G/H below 50%, then E would be more power-friendly.
- Power usage:
* used up a full charge in about 6 - 8 hours.
* tested with two fully-charged battery
* standard pattern of usage:
> push-mail, as items arrive
> network protocol both on auto
> brief browsing for about 10-15 mins
> stream one 20 minute video via orb
The power usage is the showstopper for me. Tried it with two newly charged battery from 100%. Going back to 1.51.00.10 after 1 1/2 days of use.
Thanks, but sorry. My phone's gotta last at least 24 hrs with standard use.
Location is in Greater Vancouver, Canada.

Upgraded from 1.51 to 1.54.00.10 two days ago. Rings on second ring from callers side (same as 1.51 for me). Have no issues like missed calls or dropped calls (like 1.51) Very subjective opinion is that it's battery consumption is a little bit better than 1.51 but can't be exact about because it's allmost impossible to repeat same usages between chargings. With 1.54 I think I have complete 2 days interval (with push e-mail) between charging and with 1.51 I was week at the second afternoon...

I upgraded from 1.50 to this radio ROM. Have been using it for 3 days. Spent the weekend in central NY State, near Binghamton. So, I have used this radio in central, western and northern NJ, as well as NE PA and central NY State. No dropped calls, slightly better signal strength, better internet browsing ("locates" faster). I can now reliably (no dropped connections) work from the interior of several houses where I had difficulty before.
One new issue, however. I am getting more "page cannot be displayed" error messages than I did with any previous radio ROM. Not many, maybe 4 over the past 3 days. When I try to reconnect to the page (Internet connection is still available, not dropped), the page opens OK. Strange but liveable.
I think one of the things the experts in this forum should look at is why some posters cannot get service in the same geographic areas that others, with the similar hardware, carrier and OS, can. "Does not work in XX" may not be true for everyone.
Edit: 10/11/2007 Problems today. Went from a very strong 3G (H) area to a very strong Edge and lost signal. The ROM searched for many minutes before it found a signal again (very strong Edge). Not comfortable with this. I will use it until it happens again (otherwise it is very good) and then revert back to 1.50.

Tried 1.54.00.10 for a day and the signal in my office was about the same as 150.00.00 but it would not connect to the 3G network like 150.00.00 would. I was allways on the edge network, so I flashed back to 150.00.00 and 150.00.00 picks up the 3G network in my office.
Had 1.51.00.10 (RadioRom) for more then a month without any problems.
Until a few days ago, no more data throughput via GPRS or HSDPA :-(
I had to reset several times my Tytn to get a working data connection but even that only solved my problem for less then a day.
So I upgraded to 1.54.00.10 and now dataconnections back OK :-)

This radio isnt very good on data transfer with Tele2 Sweden. 1.47.30.10 is still the best choice for me.

Upgraded from 1.50 to 1.54.00.10 on Oct 07, in HK. Have run into a problem where Outlook push email stops working. This has happened a couple of times. (never hapenned on 1.50) I only notice when I see that over a couple of hours I have received no mail. One time, I did a manual sync to get it going. Other 2 times, I had to do a soft reset. This is not very good if mail stops randomly, as this was the main reason I am using a WM phone. Am putting in1.54.07.00 now to see if it is more stable.
BTW: I had no complaints about battery life, and everything else worked OK. But the email failure is a showstopper for me. I don't know why the radio version would affect push email, but seeing as I have been running for quite a while on 1.50 with no problems, and have seen this at least 3 times since I switched to 1.54.00.10, I have to attribute the cause to the radio version
Tried this update for a few days, but didn't really like it to be honest. Battery life appeared to drain faster than 1.50.00 and I had two strange experiences. First one was where the phone wouldn't let me answer a call, then told me I had 6 missed calls from the number I was trying to answer!
Final straw was last night when I couldn't dial out at all. I saw a strange message about not being able to dial or something. I'm using Black Satin with 3G switched off. Have gone back to 1.50.00 which worked flawlessly.

OK, after a promising start for a few days, dropped back to 1.50. This Rom turned out to be too unpredictable. Not picking up a signal, especially when moving between 3G and E, not being able to find a signal and eventually calling AT&T because the phone stopped working at all. No such problems with 1.50.

Upgraded from 1.48.00 to 1.54.00.10 while traveling for work in Orlando, FL. Worked great up there, but when I arrived in MD/DC/VA, it was HORRIBLE. Never recovered from lost signal (I say never because I would soft reset when my short patience ran out - few minutes), low signals, hardly got out of EDGE using data. Arrived back in West Palm Beach and has been OK, but with the amount of traveling I do, it was not worth keeping. I am on 1.54.07.00 now but won't be back in MD/DC/VA for another month or so. Fingers crossed.

It works great in China mobile network(edge). But the battery life is not good. So I use 1.51 now.

I flashed the radio ROM from 1.47, 1.50, 1.51 to 1.54 but back to 1.51 now.
Everything goes fine with no problem!
No obviously difference but 1.54 signal is stronger in my room.
After 2 months testing, seems that 1.54 consumed the battery life and poor than I ever used.
Back to 1.51 and no problem so far!
I am in Taipei city, Taiwan, Asia area

Maybe radio 1.47 or 1.51 can satisfy your requirement.

In theory, there is nothing related between BT with Radio!
As for the battery life, before backing to 1.51, I tried two 1.54 versions for two months then I think 1.51 can get good performance with a better battery life!

I flashed this ROM and after that I get screen alignment issues. I had to align my screen twice a day.
When I flashed back to my older ROM (1.47.00.10) i don't have any problem.
