Hi guys, recently, I don't get to use WiFi, the WiFi does not show up in the home screen, under communication manager, the WiFi is turned on, and the phone WiFi LED light is also turned on, but I don't get WiFi.

When I go to WiFi settings, I don't get to see the WiFi networks, what can I do to fix this ?

I accessed Celetask immediately after I bootup with this problem, I see a process called wifioff.exe , I have a strong feeling that this process is triggered at the wrong time, I can't delete it as it is a part of the ROM

Alright, I found this key

HKLM/Init

There is a string called Launch35 - Wifioff.exe

Could it be that the wrong launching sequences of programs causes the wifi module not to be loaded? Or the lack of memory or space causes the module loading to be skipped or sort?

Cause I remembered that I get this problem the day I reached critical point in my memory storage

Ok, got a breakthrough

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\Hardware

Under Wifi - change from zero to one, at least I can show Wifi in the home screen, I also see the option to turn on loudspeaker as well, something useful we got here

But still Wifi module is not loaded, cant use wifi, and after reboot, the wifi thing is gone from home screen

Yes WiFi has stopped working ever since i upgraded to WM6. The WiFi lights blink and it is not able to detect any network open or secured. Secondly, I can't even see the setting to chnage or add a WiFi APN anywhere? am I missing something??
Secondly under Assceroies, I do not underastand WANIP Manager, what is the use of it and what should be configured? Option I see is
- Profile DHCP
- Options>Select Device> BTPAN1/RNDISFN1/TIACXWLAN1/WWAN1

I just found out this key simply shows the WiFi on the home screen, does not matter whether its turned on or not.

I've experienced this problem yesterday after ...uninstalling Windows Live Messenger!!! I use WM6 for quite a while and I've never "lost" the wifi!
After trying almost everything, the only solution was a hard reset! Luckily, I do a full backup (Sprite Backup) after any software installation/uninstallation and I fully reverted my phone to its previous state.

Uninstalling Windows Live again caused no error at all!

Surprising to see that there is a problem like this for a few of you...

Whats more surprising is that I have the same problem in WM5! I had no problems with wifi and bluetooth earlier, but all of a sudden, I cannot enter into the CommManager where the bluetooth and wifi need to be turned on.

When i goto the menu, it simply hangs. Sometimes i'm able to recover to the home screen.

This has happened after i put the a2dp patch. Any solutions to the problem?

And is sprite backup a free software? is there any free alternative?

I got this problem since my main main memory reached low and I got the warning message, after that, despite managing to recover back those main memory storage space, its gone

Hey karhoe! Thanx for the tip. I saw that my free space was just .5 mb in the phone memory. Deleted some old files and saw that is works fine again after reboot.

Thanx anyway...

Ok, did it twice and I think I figured out the reason.

I uninstalled WLM to install the latest version, after I uninstall it, it prompts me to restart my phone in which I did, just to realize that the WiFI thing is gone after I uninstall.

So there are 2 reasons identified for the WiFi problem
1) Low main memory space
2) Uninstall WLM

I think there must be other reasons.
I'm experiencing the same problem, but have never installed WLM and I have about 9mb of space left on my phone.

I also have had this issue. I have found that if I turn on the WiFi then reset the phone then the wifi usually works. Also can tell very quickly when the wifi messes up as the wifi indicator on the home screen is not present.

Friends, I had a similiar situation after I flashed my SP5 with WM6 a few days back. I had good qty of memory remaining, never uninstalled WLM. After all installations were over, I configured WiFi thru Connection Manager-WLAN Settings-WiFi-New... I entered My SSID, password and other details, which I am sure, were correct. But WiFi did not work. When I try to connect, the phone says 'connecting..' but the WiFi LED on my modem would come ON for a second or two and go OFF. The next thing I did was, deleting the SSID from the phone and just switching WiFi ON. this time the the screen- 'New WiFi Networks Found' came in view. From there, I selected my SSID (my nieghbours' Network also were shown) and pressed the soft key 'connect'. Then it asked the Password and connected with no delay. I tried surfing by IE. Also tried Map24 (WM5 Version) which requires net connection. I am 100% satis. Hope this helps at least a few. It really is a wonderful ROM!
Cheers,
Jole.
