Hi all,

Got a question for you. I'm using vista and i've updated the driver of the usb sync on my pc. Everything worked for example going into bootloader connecting and then disconnecting thru exitbootloader or whatever on the pc.

So I thought well update the bootloader since that's recommended before unlocking and updating. So I've downloaded the program that's on the wiki page, went into bootloader and connected. Then I started the program clicked next and on that page there was no info about the versions on the device or what was going to be put on.

Still me having no fear I continued and clicked next. Then for some kind of strange reason the program kept on displaying: getting device info, nothing else. After half an hour I thought it had had enough time used so I've used the exit bootloader program and my device restarted.

Now I need to stress this: my device isn't bricked. My problem is that it just won't update the bootloader. So does anyone have any advice or encounterd the same? Please let me know

-don't use a Vista system, use XP (or read through forum how to use Vista)
-in activesync deactivate usb sync.
-don't use an usb hub
-don't leave in your sd card

Well that's the point, I've followed the tutorial on Vista to the point, so everything went/works as it should. Usb sync in Mobile device center is unchecked, there's no hub in between and sim/sdcard are both removed. That's why it's so strange.

FYI,

every rom works with bootloader 1.01 !
you do not need 1.1

and messing things up trying to change your bootloader can really brick your device.

Are you sure? 'Cause I've read on this forum that there were some probs with 1.0.1. Well I'll go for 1.0.1 and I think XP, to not risk bricking my device.

Yep I'm sure.

(read signatures of the more senior members and rom builders/cookers)

indeed xp and 1.01 is tried and tested.
