View Full Version : Tilt Bricked?

Palmore

Possibly the fastest phone brick in history... I did everything wrong...

AT&T Tilt, Windows Vista host machine

I ran the SSPL, NOT the Hard-SPL...
16% thru it failed
Rebooted, tri color screen, but not the same extact screen I had seen after running the SSPL on my Tilt.

Hard Reset, said yes take me to factory settings, back to same tricolor screen

Plugged it into a XP box, drivers installed, plugged in USB (it shows USB connection on the screen) Activesync of course wont go green

Loaded both the Kraiser rom and the Cingular rom, both fail at 1% and reboot the device and same invalid device ID..

Any ideas, aside from I'm a r-tard?

I ran the Hard-SPL on my HTC and it worked as it should. I'd say give that a shot, THEN try flashing the ROM of your choice.

Problem is, when I run hard spl it expects activesync to be running, but in bootloader mode AS doesnt connect so Hardspl wont load =/

- Disable activesync usb connections
- Connect to bootloader with mtty and type the following commands to know your CID and Model ID:

Cmd>task 32
Cmd>info 2
Cmd>getdevinfo

Paste the output here, and also tell me which SPL version you have on your device.
Also, does the tri-color shows "RUURUN" or similar in the screen?

You should flash a ROM matching your CID to fix it.

Flash this ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327482), should bring it back to life.

I'm leeching it now, 40% done, also FYI, I've posted on the Official ROM forum new links to most utilities and ROMs hosted on my servers off the rapidshare, to share free of charge.

Ahh, life saver =) Thanks, I'll be sure to add that rom to my list of full Kraiser roms on my web server, now to correctly flash it back with the HTC rom.

Thanks!

I got the same problem as Palmore. After 16%, stuck, then bricked. I am downloading the ROM pointed by POF (thanks man!!) hopefully will unbrick it. Now, how do we get the HTC Kaiser ROM on this thing? Anyone?

Run the Hard-SPL utility on your PC, and follow the instructions (sticky on this forum)

It will allow you to flash any ROM after that, I've flashed the AT&T Rom, the HTC rom and back and forth, pulling cabs out of the AT&T rom for the items I like (IM utility etc)

If you are a r-tard, it must be catching - same situation here at 16% and 1% now......

Ok, so here is my situation. I have a Tilt and Vista.

I ran HardSPL and I am at the tri-color screen. I have:

KAIS1*0
SPL-1.JumpSPL
CPLD-8

USB (in the middle of the screen)

I tried disconnecting and reconnecting it several times. I cant get HardSPL to run again (it hangs at the first section looking for ActiveSync) I tried restarting Vista several times. I can NOT turn off my device, as holding down the power button does not appear to work.

I have tried just running a couple of .exe roms (AKU 0.7.0 ROMS) and I get the connection error [264]. I cant re-establish my ActiveSync connection. In device Manager I have Microsoft USB Sync for the mobile device, but I cant get ActiveSync (Mobility Center) to see it.

I have tried opening MTTY to run "boot" but it says USB Port Can NOT be opened.

I just need some direction here, as it seems like everything hinges on my ActiveSync connection. I have been up and down the Wikis for Hermes and all the similar ones, and I think I am SOL.

I WILL GLADLY DONATE if thats what it takes for someone to help me. Thanks guys, I cant wait for my HTC Rom to work.

First off, i had the same problem as you so i just found an XP box to use.

Second, even with XP i still managed to fuck up because i did not read the directions all the way through. This device is totally different so make sure you read all the directions.

If you have no access to an XP machine then u can just "obtain" a copy of XP and dual boot just for flashing your device.

If you have no idea what I am saying then read some more. the hermes forums have some great information when it comes to flashing via Vista.

For all you guys that just saved between $300.00-$500.00. How about sending POF like %5 or %10 of what he just saved you...

I'm just sayin'

Have you installed the XP activesync drivers under Vista? The Hermes Wiki mentions somewhere how to do that.

ey man, you can biuld the Dutch ROM from your device if you read this...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337066

If you do that, upload and send the link to the thread so all the reconstructed ROMs be in one place.

If you are not sure, dump the ROM and send me the part02.raw

Cheers.

Is there any thread where this is fully explained for newby like me?
Thanks for any further help!

Windows XP
Stock ATT Tilt no harspl

My tilt boots straight to bootloader...this is what I have now after trying the MFG SPL from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327482

KAIS1*0 MFG
SPL-1.50.1000
CPLD-8

After the utility is finished it goes right back into bootloader. If I hardreset I am able to catch a flash of black lettering on a white background that says "No Image flile" before it returns to bootloader.

If I run the latest ROM SPL 1.57 I get the same thing. What I am not doing incorrectly?

Lesson learned NEVER let your so called tech friends help you out. My lovely Tytn II is in the same state as above.. nothing seems to work.. I would give damn near anything to get it working again. Can anybody provide any further details on what to look for from this point, I have been reading this forum for the last three hours and its making things worse not better as there is so much info and so many files, tips, tricks etc... nothing is making any difference.

It goes without saying a hefty donation would be on the way to anybody that can sort this one out for me.

FWIW I am in Vista and can't get an active sync connection to show.. the phone is in the exact state as listed above.

I will try to help you. Remove your SD card, but keep in your SIM card.

1. Remove the battery completely out, Place back in the phone.
2. Start the phone.
3. Press the two hard buttons located directly between the (OK) Green phone picture button and the (End) red phone picture button, and at the same time stick the sharp edge of the stylus in the reset round hole located on the right hand side of the USB plug-in and hold for three seconds. A white letters message appears asking you if you want to reset.
4. As soon as you see the message appearing release the buttons and pull out the stylus from the reset hole.
5. Press on the green phone (OK) button. Another msg appears.
6. Press on the green (OK) button again.
7. The phone will reset itself to factory state and the initiation will start and it will prompt you to tap the screen to complete the set up. do so.

I hope this helps.

I saved my lovely Kaiser successfully just now! Oyeah!!!!:p
The ROM I flashed successfully is a China Hongkong English WWE:
HTC TyTN II RUU_Kaiser_HK_WWE_1.82.721.1_radio_sign_22.51.88.1 3_1.27.15.32R2_Ship
and then flashed successfully with a Hongkong Chinese ROM:
HTC TyTN II RUU_Kaiser_CHT_1.82.708.0_radio_sign_22.51.88.13_1 .27.15.32R2_Ship

So, very very thank you, the master of this thread, Pof, and all of the paticipaters of the discussion. Thank you!

Flash this ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327482), should bring it back to life.

help...help...I got the same problem last night. After flashing a rom(cooked by myself) and softrebooted automatically, Kaiser dead on the first screen. So, bricked...
(Oh, I remembered: flashing the bad ROM cooked by myselt above to 100% spent only about 1 minute...)
Then, I spent several hours in rebooting Kasier into three-color screen. As a result, she can go into three-color screen for only one time in ten times.

Very sorry for my poor English:( I'm from China mainland, and my lovely Kaiser is made in Taiwan.
Now, three-color again, I copied the infortion from MTTY:

I got my german MDA Vario 3 shipped today. Tried to install the Hard SPL. Got an error message I'm unable to remember at the moment. Moreover I've used an Phophet for two years now, where error messages during the flashing occoured on a regular basis. So I didn't care. After trying to CID unlock the device hangs at the tri-color screen. I tried to flash some of the recovered ROMs in here. But they don't even start. It hangs at 0% until a message tells me it failed. Any other ROM will do until the 1% mark and stops telling me I the VendorIDs doesn't match.

Even if I've been flashing my Prophet for quite 2 years now I still don't know what the mtty output is telling me. What ROM I need to download.

PLZ help I'm stuck. And I'm really fed up with downloading some ROMs that could eventually have a matching VendorID.

Explain how you got, and replaced wceusbh.inf in device manager please! THIS might be the sollution I have been waiting for! I can get NO usb connection, although it says i can on the PHONE side of things.

You didn't search well enough then. I've documented RUUNBH errors many times.

Get MTTY & the Motorola Q drivers.

Hook deivce up to pc in BL mode.

Open MTTY & connect to USB port.

Hit enter until you see the prompt "cmd>".

Enter set 16 0 into prompt like below:
cmd>set 16 0

Now, I have to guess because you didn't say, but if you have HardSPL or 1.56 SPL thern enter in the MTTY prompt "boot" lime below:
cmd>boot

If you have another SPL, you may need to enter "task 8" into the prompt instead, like below:
cmd>task 8

Thank you so much for the help, but now it seems i've fiddled around with it even more, the screen is no longer going on but the tiny green light at the top of the kaiser where the earpiece is, is going on and not going away. PLEASE PLEASE HELP :(

I need help.

Tilt is not coming on, only green light when power button is pushed. Also Caps light is LIT (when battery is in or not in also when tilt is plugged in, with or without battery) Activesync will not sync.

Can get to the bootloader (tri color) screen

KAIS1*0
SPL-1.56.0000
CPLD-8

on the bottom it will say "Serial" if not connect to usb. Other wise when it is connected it will say "USB"

from MTTY:
Cmd>

Cmd>task 32

Cmd>info 2
HTCS00000000jR*¥HTCE
Cmd>getdevinfo
GetDevInfo: Get backup CID

HTCSKAIS1*00HTCE
Cmd>

flashed this rom:
RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_1.56.405.5_radio_sign_22.45.88. 07_1.27.12.11_Ship
but nothing still.
