I tried installing TomTom 6.032 on my Tilt with the Cingular ROM and I got an error message that said I needed to update my ROM. I loaded the HTC ROM on my device and I still got the same error. Any ideas?

Did you hard spl or sspl? i curious if other people who originally could use tomtom can't reinstall once their spl changes. (i could experiment with mine, but i'm waiting until i have a reason to "fix what ain't broke")

I ran into this as well. When looking inside the .cab, it seems that there are specific models listed in the security file. I think it could be that the name of the device identifier was changed so the cingular branded version could not install the .cab

just my guess...

I used Pof's Hard SPL to load the HTC ROM.

To test, I installed the Hard SPL on my 4550 and the Kaiser OEM TomTom still works. I did not try to reinstall mind you, just see if it still worked.

Same here. I was planning to get a Tilt as well but if TT has problems it will be quite pointless for me.

I hope we get some feedback from other Tilt owners as well.

Did you try the 6.03 (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AQDGQJIG)

The TomTom "Taster" version pulled from some Kaisers that has been posted on the site will not install as of now on the Tilt, but any other standard version of Tomtom will work fine on it.

Thanks for the update. But when you say "will work fine" did you actually try it or is it an assumption?

The link I've posted for RK is the latest 6.03 regular install not the taster version. So let's see whether he can get it going.

Yes. I've installed it, tested it and it works fine (aka great ;) ).

Awesome, that's what I need to hear.

BTW: any chance Hard-SPL is the culprit in the above issue

Meaning that by installing HardSPL prevents the installation?

In that case, no. I tried installing it on the stock ATT ROM prior to HardSPL with the same results.

As the error states, it's the device ID that seems to be at issue. Narrowing down exactly what TomTom is looking for and "adjusting" it accordingly certainlly seems to be the solution. :)

Thanks for clarifying that now I can get a tilt for my wife and slam TT on it. :)

Yeah, just go to www.tomtom.com (http://www.tomtom.com) and purchase the maps there. I just checked out their maps section and it's down due to maintenance right now.

I just got the Tilt and first thing I installed is TomTom 6.032 that I've found from somewhere here and it is working. I haven't installed the HTC Rom yet. So the Taster is working fine on my Tilt.

Did you have to buy the maps?

I already had the maps that I bought a year ago.

I'm trying to give TomTom some love since I can't get my Garmin Mobile XT to work with the onboard GPS, but I can't get a map to try it out. Site is still down. Not very good timing on their part. If I can't get a test map in the next few days, I'll be looking elsewhere.

ok, so the 6.03 installs on the Tilt, but doesnt really mean anything because it doesnt read internal GPS, and I tried the 6.032 version, but of course it tells me to "update ROM" (thanks AT&T and/or TomTom)...does anyone have the 6.032 version that isnt restricted and will install on the Tilt? I looked around and doesnt look like anyone has posted it...
cabinet files would be especially helpful (if they exist for 6.032)

AT&T Tilt with 6.032 from kaiser ROM works fine even with AT&T Rom. I am using it without problem. The only issue I had the the Map on SD. I purcahse the TT comes in SD card, so all the folder were in SD card. I am having problem to combine my TT SD card and my application SD into a 6GB card. There are just too many folders, and TT did not have give the option to re-path the map..... man..

We are going to have to agree to disagree on this one because when i installed the 6.032 version that was posted on here (and ripped from a retail KAISER, aka taster edition) and I got the "update ROM" error, but then i got another version of 6.032 and it worked fine.

I had the same issue installing 6.032 on my tilt with the HTC ROM so i installed 6.03 linked previously in this thread and had no issues.

I just followed the instructions at the following link and 6.03 work fine with the internal GPS. I used tomtom HOME to install maps and voices since their site wasn't working.

you can use tomtom HOME (free application) to install maps etc... and purchase from within the application.

Can anyone post the 6.032 that works on Tilt ROM ?

I'm prolly going to get in trouble for this...but I mean there are no maps that come with it and all it is is a .cab so mod dont delete until you make a judgment call (i believe by "cracked" they mean it works on all ROM versions):

mod edit: link removed

and yes it's in spanish so dont complain...you can change the language when you install it

Working fine on my Tilt straight out of the box, downloaded one free map directly from the phone.

So where did you get your Tilt? Because I'm having the same problems with getting TomTom on my Tilt as all the others. Makes me mad when some jackass in the corporate world makes decisions like this, to deny their customers services or goods provided elsewhere. Think I'll go find a less than legal version.

I tried Google Navigator, but that didn't work!! Has anyone else tried that or anything else that's free and good?
