Here is my personal quick remake of the Schap`s 3.54c Lite ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=322694)

I find Schaps 3.54c ROM to be the best and most stable so far and I like it features, but I didn`t like all the stuff in there so I changed things I don`t like in Schaps ROM
I`ve also managed to get extra ~4MB free storage space compared to Schap`s Lite ROM

Storage Free: 62Mb

Program Total: 50.96Mb
Program Free: 31Mb

I was wondering why no one has commented on this yet. Noticed you have only just posted this.

I do believe this is the way to go for ROM building ie do a lite version then give people the choice to load up whatever they want. I have suggested this approach to Schaps to reduce his workload but I'm not sure whether he is entirely convinced.

I seem to share your opinion on lite ROMs.. I also think that it is much easier for users to refresh apps with newer version if they can simply uninstall the old version and install the updated one, instead of waiting for the cooker to refresh its ROM with new versions ;)

BTW.. it seems that cab addons download is working for me, click on the addons list screenshot to start the download ( it will link you to RapidShare )

Nope, it is not fixed in this ROM..

I don`t write on my device while I am in call and I was not bothered to relocate all the modules in the ROM :p

Yep, I think it is possible.. But I am not sure how this will reflect to stability..

I don`t use Ext. ROM too, but I am not familiar with merging Ext. ROM :(

The Advanced Configuration doesn't seem to work for me, get an error that a file is missing. I really like the idea of paring down some of these ROMs and making lighter versions. I'd love to see an "ultra-lite" version of this, I can't find many ROMs that leave out things like the Office Apps (which I never use) and the games, calc, etc. We need more of those!

Dear Shamanix this might be because of the missing ExtROM. Schaps had that file there along with some settings. You can check the contents of the ExtROM with HTC Extended ROM Editor v9.0.1

I just upload both.
v901 reads the existing extrom
v951 makes new ones

You must rename the nb file to _ExtROM.nb in order v901 to see the file

I`ve found where the problem is.. I still got the Schap`s Ext. ROM on my device from last flash, since mine doesn`t touch Ext. ROM, so it didn`t give me any errors.. :)

I will release an updated ROM.. Maybe I will remove some more stuff out too..

but I ended up in an 3.54b german rom with 62.37MB storage (58MB free)

Using it at the moment without major problems. I would be also interestes
in a superstorage rom (german) but didn't get this working without major
problems yet. I tried to get this cooked in 3.57a version with merging the
existing Shamanix 3.57 superstorage rom with the 3.57a version of Schaps
german rom and in the end I had a "working" german 3.57a with 77MB storage
and 73MB free. But it wasn't stable. When I installed programs I had random
freezes and had to do every time hardreset with loosing all data again.

So for now I decided to go with the recooked Schaps 3.54b german rom.

Shamanix, I wonder how your superstorage 3.57a rom could be stable
while mine seems not to be stable at all...

Any suggestions?

I wonder why the Ext-ROM hack development somehow stopped. :(
Is the Ext-ROM melting hack only possible with Hermes or did bepe tried this on other devices too? if so maybe a coder cretes an app for Ext-Rom melting in the future.

Did anyone else ever managed to create german superstorage ROM ? Maybe it is not compatible with german files and effects stability, just like you couldn`t create 3.54 german ROM with bepes hacks :confused:

Or maybe it is something with the modules that you messed with ?? :confused:

On my last ROM I used mattk_r`s base, maybe he knows why his base was so stable, or any other advanced developer.. or maybe even bepe the mighty wizz himself :D

The advanced configuration in programs/system tools doesn't work BUT in settings/system is OK.

THE FIX: With total commander go to windows/start menu/programs/system tools/advancedConfiguration.lnk and choose properties of file. In the second tab change the path of the file from \extended_rom\blabla... to \Windows\.... and you are OK

Shamanix I think you should start chopping but remember stability is very important...

Shamanix: I agree with you, the Schap's rom have the old nicer dialer, and various little detail and , of course, stability and performance.

This ROM work very nice.!!!

I will keep for a while until new Ultra Lite ROM delivery.

This is my wish list for future ROMs for my PERFECT LITE ROM:
1 - Based on Schp's 3.54c
2 - Bepe big storage
3 - Office 6.1
4 - Windows Media Player (for stability)
5 - Nothing Else... Ultra Lite...

I wanted to make this ROM ultra lite and I`ve removed everything that could be removed, there are only 2 things left inside and those are Office 2007 and Streaming Media that take up a lot of storage space..

When I removed Streaming Media, I lost 3G dialpad and got only 2G standard dialpad... There are some relations with Streaming Media DLLs that effect dialpad...

When I removed Office2007, I`ve noticed that device became sluggish.. I am not sure why this happened, but scrolling in menu was slower and device felt less responsive.. :confused:

For now, this is as light as this one gets.. Stability and speed wise :D

I would investigate more on speed issues, but unfortunately I don`t have extra device for testing purposes and I need my device ready and loaded with apps for job..

My future ROMs will be as light as possible like all other I`ve made ;)

Ok one fix that I need help.

I have no notificiations (New Messages, Missed Calls etc..) and the orange notification is flashing instead of flashing green.

How do I fix this?

PS. My battery isn't the reason, at 80% now.

Look in the notification settings if there is everything set up properly ?

Try flashing the ROM again and see if that helps..

I would like to hear others that flashed my ROM if they got those issues or how to reproduce them..

I`ve tried messing with bepes 3.60 big storage ROM but not schaps, all 3.60 had a slow IE scrolling bug and there was no fix back then, so I give up on 3.60 since I use IE a lot, then I just made 3.57 big storage ROM insted 3.60 one..

Are the Links to the updated ROMs on Posting#1?
The rapidshare-Links do not show any revision number, for i don't know now.
I'll install this ROM and hopefully the Streaming Media is working with this one again.

Yes the links in the first post are updated, there are no revision number but the title say it has been fixed 19.10. ;)

Just wanted to say a big thanks to Shamanix for releasing this. Just done my very first ROM upgrade (on my UK Vario II), and it's gone like a dream.... the Vario is noticeably quicker after the upgrade, and I'm really liking the fact that all the stuff I never use has already been stripped from this release.

This is a nice quick rom. My Vario 2 is loads quicker when it comes to switching between apps etc.. I noticed that i couldnt get Messenger to work though, after adding it.

I originally upgraded from WM5 to WM6 using the original rom update, but found that my battery lasted around 5 hours before dying. So i upgraded to this rom. it didnt cure my battery problem, but did make my phone run alot quicker.
I have now changed my rom to Schaps Pro 4.00 Beta 3 which has fixed the battery problem and messenger problem.

now my phones gone sluggish again though! :) could do with a lite version!

Thank you once again for this great rom, i am so happy that i think i finally found a very stable and clean rom. the only thing is the superstorage mode ... other than that, excellent rom!

Shamanix, thanks for this lean and mean ROM! I have one problem with it though (as I did with Schap's ROM that it's based on) and that is whenever I connect to Microsoft Live in order to check my Hotmail e-mail account it prefers the 3G connection over the WiFi connection. When I was using other custom ROM that didn't happen to me. Can you help me figure this out? :confused:

I installed NETCF v3.5 after I removed the NETCF 2 from your ROM.

this 354c is better than 1.3 grass.. it would be better again if we can remove netcf 2.0 and cooked in netcf 3.5...
