Has anyone try to remove the ugly AY&T Logo from Tilt? I want to see if it can just be scraped off without leaving a mark. I am not brave enough to try yet. Thought I would give it a try here.

Thanks.

Sugar cubes. Works wonders. I've used them on an Apache.

I've seen cheap skin packages for $3-$5 US for 8925 on E-bay that will cover the AT&T logo.

I too am wondering about this. The thought I had was if the sugar would damage the dark patina on the metal.

anyone do this yet?

as ay&t is not sending me checks to rep there logo I would like it off my phone lol

Supposedly you can remove the logo by moving a sugar cube back and forth across it. The sugar is supposed to be hard enough to remove it but soft enough to not scratch the metal.

We are talking about the logo that is physically on the top of the Tilt.

I never tried this, so I don't know if it works...

but shouldn't nail polish remover do the job? if not similar chemical products strong enough to wipe the paint but not strong enough to corrode the metal.

I tried alcohol and lacquer thinner just now...didn't cut it or damage anything.

yea this is the logo that is printed on the top of the device. I see the other write up BUT has anyone ACTUALLY done this?
I am concerned about scratching the dark patina over the metal.

...so how do I get this advertising of my otherwise good lookin' phone!

THANKS

Just buy a new front faceplate. They're cheap enough and you can be sure this one will look good without ruining your current one.

This site has them for $13:

I have tested it yesterday on a govt logo that was painted on a laptop's cover I found in the office. It didn't work at all, more over the sugar has polished off some thin/invisible shiny overcoat that is there all over the laptop and now the whole area where I rubbed it is half-matte (versus "full shine" everywhere else), while freaking logo wasn't even scratched by it LOL.
I guess they used some drying-hard enamel paint or something.

Results probably depend greatly on a type of paint used to paint the logo, some softer paints may go off easily.
My advice:
whatever you do, try it out first on some small less-visible area, because if you have some shiny coating it may become matte, and it will look terrible even if the logo will come off.

That's why the instructable says not to do this on a plastic device.

It looks like the bezel is anodized aluminium, so I assume acetone will not harm it, but should remove the logo. I will take before and after pics, as I have access to the good acetone at work. will check back when I get it done.

From what I have seen, it's just metal under the at&t logo. I used some goo-off and a razor (pulled backwards) and totaly cleaned his mogul (titam). It even worked on the plastic side. Tried it on my at&t tilt with not such great results. It appears the white paint is aver an etching. Behind the paint was just silver. I am sure your thinking I just scraped it, but no. All the metal finish is still there, just now I have a silver AT&T logo instead of a white one. Now im advertising in style...If you feel the logo, it is smooth. As if it's a painted etching.
I am thinking about just buying a new face plate like previously suggested.

Well, no need to post pictures, acetone did not even touch it. It did haze the plastic corner of my phone though.
