Hi,

If it wasn't for forums such as these, I feel I'd have missed out.

Just got this (S621) phone, via a new contract with Rogers.

It's my first smartphone, I had a WiFI pocket PC years ago.

I got this phone to serve two purposes. Bell coverage at my new rural home didn't work. With no land line, I needed to change providers; and as a developer I needed to be exposed to communicators because the users I serve are ever more on the run and my company Intranet doesn't reach them as needed and has not yet been optimized for mobile. I made the choice for S621 just as the WM6 update was released. Obviously the Rogers broker was surprised that was an option and the Treo 750 was presented to me as their non slide/smartphone WM6 solution. Not interested in that sweet phone as it had no wifi, I was going to get a PPC (TYTN or other) but I realized, while that suits ME better, my users are going to utilize smartphone more often for the next couple years.

I really love this thing. 3 days in, so easy, love the screen and the freedom from stylus.(yes it takes away from the poweruser, but it gets through the day better for the majority of users). It is just a different way to do things. A new fun world for me, I will now budget for a couple mobile devices a year. While I currently have a Data Plan it will be cancelled as the fees are still unreasonable. Good value for Email if that is what drives your day. But it is much less important to me compared to mobile web applications since I don't manage/react to business contacts or sell stiff. My employer dosen't really understand why this on the hip distributed application stuff is important yet, and thinking two years down the road isn't always a priority when times are tough. That means I had to gp out of pocket to stay current.

Reception, in my off the grid, frequent alien landing, rural swamp (ie. paradise) has been real good.

One more time, Thanks

Just an update after using this thing a while.

Amazing. Would be perfect in Europe with an unlimited data package as the GPRS and EDGE is plenty fast but until NA catches up with the rest of the world I'll take my hotspots where I can get them and pocket the cash for those other 29 days of the month. Unfortunately I haven't been able to code some of my existing full format line of business applications (SOA) to this platform yet (other than a few guilty pleasure tests, he he) as I've been involved in other projects. Can't wait, just renewed my MSDN VS2008.
So easy, so fun. Plus, such a great phone, CrakBery for the Microsoft fanboys.
