PKG tool is reporting several rgu files missing. The rom does not recompile correctly, ie hangs on first bootscreen.
Because this is a working rom the registry changes would have had to be
done elsewhere, I figured.
Other roms I looked at do not have the rgu file in question, but PKG tool runs fine and the rom works.
Is there something simple I am missing?
Which Rom are you using as a Base?
And which RGU is missing so whe can check what it's for.
Is the RGU in the missing folder?
And when you just flash the Rom is the RGU in the windows folder?

I am using swiftblades V2.10 as base and the following rgu's are reported missing...
That alone says it all.
When you extract an allready custom cooked rom the DSM files don't always get repopulated.
In a way that doesn't matter for flasher.
the DSM tells BUILDOS where and wich files are in the ROM and where to put them.
Not rebuilding the DSM files will safe some files in Windows folder.
I'm trying to rebuild my DSM files as much as posible
(i take out iniyflashes.txt and option.xml first, Then empty the information in the DSM file, then drop the Package folder onto BUILDSM.exe)
But it becomes a problem because you can't do this with Package folders that contain Modules (Folders with the name of the files inside them, ussually dll or exe files)
So you miss out on some important registry settings. It's best to work from a stock base ar the vanilla i made specificly to not get missing files after re extracting.
Or you can ask Swiftblade to rebuild the DSM files.
But it's best to get in the dirty and start from scratch and own you ROM.
Search for packages and make your own.
So the missing files are from added or modified Packages for his rom.

Jep My version is the newest one.
But it's based on Xtriny's full version but i don't believe he actually posted it to a full thread yet. it's os 5.2.1933.
Big difference is that HTC now has found new ways to force some stuff starting up on us without using the StartUp folder. In a way it's safer also.

Has anybody put in a rom the program PocketCm Keyboard?, I have tried to put it in the rom that I am cooking but there is no way, not if it is necessary to do any modification in the registry that it is not known since in the alone cab of installation there is a key of registry that is this:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip]
"SuggAutoCorr"=dword:0
and putting it it does not leave in the SIP to be able to choose this keyboard.
Thank you

Thats ok. The Vanilla works fine for me, I will stick with that one.
Can you recommend some reading on porting to another language? As the base stays the same, it would just be some files that need replacing??????

Please correct me if wrong....
In regards to the registry we have the *.rgu files and the default.hv. If there is an entry both files, which one is used to create the registry? Will it just corrupt or will something else happen.
Does it play a role where you add registry entries, ie rgu or default.hv? Creating my own packages I dump the registry after an install to see what values were added. Do I need to make a rgu to add into the rom???
thanks

RGU in OEM folders get parsed after Sys rgu's i think. And they both simply overwrite replace the .hv values.
Leave the .hv files alone unless your just removing whole lines.
All you need to do is make empty folder in OEM with empty .DSM file with UID number and .RGU with same UID number. Safe as Unicode and don't forget the empty line.
I love the way you can export the registries as wince in the correct format using phm regedit.

Is it known anybody in that file defines the program NetworkWizard?. The fact is that I have looked in initflashfiles, default.hv, user.hv, etc ... and do not find as it puts itself on the file of direct access Settings/Connections/NetworkWizard.

It's a .CPL file any of these that you drop into the windows folder withou registry settings into without using initflashes will go into windows and show in Settings> SysteM. But since there are allready registry settings in rom from HTC it will show up in Connections ;)
I would never have expected two months ago that i'd be paid hacking into WinCe devices not even knowing what the F i'm doing.
So i'm learning a lot about the start up process lately. And all of it's very usefull for my hobby to.

Noonski,
Are you referring to your Glass ROM published Wednesday?
I have a somehow related query: where can I find any applications that I install on top of your ROM? If I switch to the classic WM start menu I can find them in the 'Programs' folder but when using Quickmenu (by far the preferred option) they aren't visible. I am guessing this is probably because you've told Quickmenu to look for a custom Programs folder...

Part of that method is that you shoulnd't need tom install anything at all.
I had a small explanation somewhere what is needed to check if an app can run in this manner. What do you need to get installed?
I'll check if this can be made into an Install once pack.

I've given it some thought and you are right; there really is no need to install any additional apps. The one I was HTC Home Customiser because I like to use a specific icon set and re-arrange the tabs but I just ended up overwriting the image files and editing the registry keys: much simpler and less system resources involved. Great ROM by the way!

Hello Guys,
I'm the new owner of HTC XL/Elfin and wanna join/participate in this class.:)
First of all, thanks to Noonski for creating this thread as a medium for all of us to learn how to cook/customize ROM for Elf/Elfin.
Got some questions regarding the cooking tutorial provided by Noonski.
1. I'm using Blue Elfin v3.0 as a based ROM and what should I do after I followed this instruction?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1599608&postcount=73
2. In the instruction, it mentioned RUU_Signed.nbh and since SwiftBlade use Blue_ELFin_ROM_V3.nbh as a filename, can I just copy it to Source folder and rename it accordingly?
3. Before I asked the ques no.1, I took a step ahead by doing HyperCore\Panel\Build\BuildOS, performed option 1 & 2 successfully. When it came to option 3, I choose Os.nbh under "System", Elf as "Device"
and left the other options as it is. Is it correct?
4. If the no.3 is correct, then can I just copy back the newly created RUU_Signed.nbh back to Blue Elfin v3.0 RUU folder, rename it and execute start.bat?
Kindly advise.
Cheers,
Vibranze

Hi Noonski,
Now here's another good one. Does anyone know which registry settings need to be changed to have the Longpress of red dialer endkey open a specific exe file. Because the new EndKey.exe App is of no real use if it can't be mapped to that long press.
But I thought in HTC EndKey, there is a setting for a "Long Press End Key" that we can configure it?
Same goes for long press of power key. I would like to map psShutXP to that......
Did you try AE Button Plus?
Cheers,
Vibranze

These instructions were written when when there was no Elfin yet. I don't know if everything is compatible with the Elfin. Maybe you will need a Elfin base rom or RUU, I don't know. Maybe you can ask Swiftblade or Cloudyfa about the differences between Elf and Elfin/ElfXL cooking.

It is probably obvious by those who have followed Noonski's work, but he has been absent on the forum since early December (Dec 7, 2007). He said that that he had been consumed by the cooking and he needed to get some things in order.
Noonski made valuable contributions of innovative tools, concepts, and of course serious amounts of time. I hope that he will again find his way back to XDA-Developers.

Well first of course the above.
Extracting A Rom.
Then taken from Anichillus tutorial:
1.BUILD-ing :
·Now that you have dumped your first ROM, you must learn how to Build it back to the flash-able so that you may flash it to the PDA. Okay, so we don’t need to work anymore on the EXTRACT Panel, so close it and go to the BUILD Panel. For beginning, i strongly disagree on starting to “cook” right away. So please follow my advice and you may actually learn something.
·BuildOS – This will prompt you with couple of choices. It’s pretty easy. Select “1” and this will start the actual BuildOS program. Since you just extracted the ROM, you won’t see any selectable packages there. Those are made possible by a little “option.xml” placed in the OEM or SYS folder. I will provide in the near future a tutorial on how to build that too, but i think it’s useless. All packages, programs you want to exclude from the ROM it’s easier to move them in or out of the OEM and SYS folder than editing the option.xml so you can check them later. Good, now click on the little green arrow and it will start processing the ROM. Beware for errors. If any errors occur, close the BuildOS and the batch program and fix the error and then try again! You shouldn’t see any errors now, most of the cases there are duplicate files that mess with the program. When it writes “Done” on the bottom, you can close it so that the batch program may continue
·(batch= http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batch_file). It will start creating the ROM, you’ll see alot of text ... not really important. When it’s finished it will go back to the status screen. The options are numbered as you should use them so again no rocket science. That’s it. It wasn’t that hard, was it ?

Thank you for this tutorial. Is it possible to implement a navigation program for my proper use. Cause the RAM is not big and I have some free space on my ROM memory that I don't use....
Just for my own use, I will not post the ROM
Set PagePool to 0MB
Disable all start ups and extra services in registry.
Also disable as much as possible launchers from HKLM\INIT
(do this with a life rom playing around restart to see what the effect is)
That should free up as much ram as possible.
Remove as much from Rom as possible will also get you more free RAM memory.

Now i'm not cooking yet but if i'm right there should be an error log in the Dump Folder about the crash
Could also be .Net framework version that needs update.
But ussually when it crashes emediatly it crashes on double DSM files. (DSM files with same name but in different folders or multiple DSM files in same folder.

Anyone? Im searching for this too..

Cannot be done yet.
It would require to change the ROM partition size......... Methinks.
It's a requirement written into the Bootloader not the update util if i'm correct.
Maybe some Genius that knows how to Patch the Bootloader up in Dev forums might be able to crack this....
Would be great to make a WM6.1 SL (Super Light)

Has anybody put in a rom the program PocketCm Keyboard?, I have tried to put it in the rom that I am cooking but there is no way, not if it is necessary to do any modification in the registry that it is not known since in the alone cab of installation there is a key of registry that is this:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sip]
"SuggAutoCorr"=dword:0
and putting it it does not leave in the SIP to be able to choose this keyboard.
Thank you

I am Building my first OEM Pack in the moment. Point 1-16 are no problem.
How can i define the place for the files in the rom?
Inside a selfmade package you can ad a initflshes.txt file which will tell where the files will be COPIED to after flashing.
You could also do everything in the initflashes.dat file in one of the OEM folders but you would need to take out two bytes with a hex editor after that.

Hey noonski, Ive edited the initflashfiles.dat file without removing the extra 2 bytes.
Before editing rename the file to initflashfiles.txt , edit the file you want then save it as initflashfiles.txt and then rename it back to initflashfiles.dat.

Funny i was allready planning sort of the same.
Shadow looked like a good base but i like a more official rom without missing RGU's so i to am going to use parts of Vepe's kitchen.
But i'm not really familiar with the way he's set it up so i'm just going for his Packs and drivers and port them over the Shadow Rom.

Not Create DSM.
Which means when you extract it it will see loads of files but no DSM info where they belong. And the RGU files also are gone integrated into HV and initflashes.txt of course will be in initflashes.dat

I used to use Reshack to edit some Windows Exes and to find out which number an icon would have inside a .DLL file.
But replacing graphics with it didn’t work for WinMob.
The files wouldn’t run and needed to be signed.
I then found this signing script on another thread but it would pump out an error and still not sign the files.
Read the thread and found another way.
Search And Download PE Explorer.
Install it.
Open it.
Open “TodayButton.dll” which I have added in the attachment.
This comes from the Prada Menu for instance.
Choose “View >> Resources” from the top menu.
This should give you a tree look of what’s inside.
Open Bitmap, then right click “110” and choose “Save resource as”, and save “Bitmap_110” to an easy to find folder.
Edit the Bitmap into whatever you want it to look like.
After that back in PE Explorer double click on “110”.
You should get a new window.
Click on the Browse/folder button and browse to the changed graphic.
Click yes to confirm.
Then File Save as, And overwrite original file.
Now you have to run a command prompt in this folder.
Type in “sign TodayButton.dll”
Without the quotes.
If it says Succeeded your done.Replace the new file in your Rom.
Now I haven’t tried this in all circumstances yet.
But it seams you should be able to do this on any file.
Don’t like the icon of Active Sync?, Replace it.
Euhm..... and there's also another way of doing this using the tools in thye HyperCore Kitchen.
You'll find Reshacker and a signing tool in the Core>HyperCore>Panel>Extra folder.

But where (directory) is the extracted rom ? and is that directory the place where to edit and customize the rom before repacking it ?

The extracted rom should be in Core\Hypercore\Build\
Seperated into ROM, OEM and Sys folders.
This wopuld be after the extract XIP step.

Defitly because it's a Custom Rom.
When .DSM files are Empty or incorrect this will happen when you extract a rom.
It's anice way to know no one will use your Rom as a base.
Your using a wrong base to cook from.

Correct.
But beware That package will also give an error when you run BUILDOS as it will replace a file in the OEM folders.
So you have to take that file from the specific OEM folder and place it in the red X Packages folder.
Also the 100% battery icon will also change the PIN keyboard layout as the battery icon graphics are in the same file ;)
Havne't used that packages for ages but it's a nice start.

Cool thanks for the quick reply, indeed BUILDOS gave me an error, i'll post it here so other new cookers can learn from it to ...
The error i got is :
The file "temp\dump\phcanoverbmp.dll" allready exists
If i look in the status panel (on the bottom of BUILDOS) i see:
Error , last status:"Processing: OEM\OEMAPPS"
So this would point me out to go to C:\Core\HyperCore\Build\OEM\OEMAPPS and move the phcanoverbmp.dll to the (red X) Packages folder...
The problem is in C:\Core\HyperCore\Build\ there is NO packages folder.
EDIT:
It seems that Packages and Tools folder is missing, gonna copy them there and see how it goes ...
Ok this error seems to be solved but now i get another one ...
Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Core\HyperCore\build\ROM\XIP
and the status panel ...
Error , last status:"Creating shadow order file...
Well like i suspected, the HyperCore Kitchen did not install itself like it should have. Fixed that and now the BUILDOS did fine with no errors reported.

I know its not helpful but THIS is why im worried about creating a rom... tho i thinking the mistake was by removing too much!
Oh by the way - im writing a wrapper for the batch file you lot use.
Nice GUI interface to run BuildOs and such sizzle :)
Update:
- Copies files from Base directory into the build directory
- Runs BuildOs in the background
Plan:
- Have the ability to have several bases WM6 WM6.1 etc..
- Have packages that can can be added
- build up a build dir that is in the appropriate fromat for BuildOs
- Some how work out the compiled size of the packages
Yes i know this sounds like what Bepe is doing in BuildOs already - this is mearly a stop gap, until he fully implements features.
Mainly for my own use but thought someone else might be interested in using it... let me know.

Good Question.
I don''t have a hundred percent anwser for that.
But the XIP contains the information for memory size and such methinks.
And Same Device specifc drivers to.
For instance i have sucesfully Ported the files from Bepe's kitchen in combination with an original ELF 4mbPP XIP.
Buhuuuuut. I didn't manage to take over the extra information succesfully.
So id did get a WM6.1 rom with 4MB PP but Blouetooth and Storage Card where not working because the the newer drivers did not get registered correctly.
I'm also just F-in around and breaking stuff and then trying to find what makes it tick.
I am completely new to this..

Pkoper is right without the rgu the final rom will have mayor issues if it even starts.
This happens when DSM files are left empty or made blank or removed completely.
The dsm files help when extracting to say wchich files are in rom but most important which folders they belong in.
So with blank DSM files extraction will not know if there were and where the rgu files belong.
It doesn't really matter where you put your packages.
But if your using hypercore with a backup of the OEM and SYS folder.
You need to cut and paste all removed files from OEM folders into packages. Otherwise when building the rom they will be placed back into their original place.

I skipped Hard SPL and Jumps SPL and managed to flash a custom rom back. Keep trying and keep trying variations or even different machines and different OFFICIAL roms.
Myself i flash on Vista always in Bootloader mode without SD card and since i never flash Official roms untill i have stripped then of ext rom spl and ipl i never run into issues anymore. And my Vista machine doesn't even recognize my phone to sync with.

If you can remember any I can go look at them and augment peices into an app? I keep looking there too - but whoa theres a lot of stuff to try to understand...
From what i understand of buildos pulls all the files from sys, oem and rom and does buildos specific stuff based on initfalshfiles. copies the rgu and dsm files into a packages folder and all rgu into a registry folder.
Then comprgu is ran on the registry folder, results in user.hv

Will iniflasfiles.txt all get inserted into initflasfiles.dat and the .dat actually runs after the rom has been flashed.
That's why the less gets copied from ROM/Windows into Storage space.
That's why ypu can't delete Files in Windows because all files there are in ROM.
And when you overwrite a file you actually don't
The file remains in rom and the new one goes into RAM storage space but the reference to the original File in rom gets changed.
So overwriting a file in windows folder will take away Storage Space.
That's why i like taking all .lnk files out of initflashfiles to max out Storage Space.
So taking out a file can ctually doubles the space unless the only location off course is the windows folder..

The same thing I did with MobileCalculator. I removed it from \SYS\BaseApps.
But when I flash this (modified :p) ROM, shortcuts still remains under Start\Programs

In OEM_Lang rename initflashfiles.dat to .txt (TNX BRAM Easy and great tip instead of editing in HEX)
Look for the lines with the shortcuts and remove them.
Rename back to .dat

Nope...
Now i have to lie about which base is being used.
But hey That only means it was indeed the most official version.
If there was a need for a mass pull it would be on the frontpage of XDA.
And i must say we are really providing a service.
This has been like a Monster leaked version.
It's been ported to Many device very quickly and is performing great on most.
Which MS should be grateful for to have so many free Beta testing.
WM6.1 is good i really like the basic out of the box performance already.

Depends on the size of Cache set.
For instance big glyphcache will slowy grow to the set size.
And it't memory that can't be recovered.
Also WM6 just tends to leak a bit especially with Commmanager running in the background. WM6.1 is much better at keeping memory at the moment.

Well hopefully in a week i will start cleaning my kitchen.
Maybe a list is handy, but at the moment i'm finding out not everything that could be removed from WM6 can be removed from WM6.1
But there's enough safe stuff to remove.

Not 100% sure why MS are so pissed...I mean its not like the end user can buy a copy of WM6.1. They only sell it to OEMs and the end user doesnt buy the PDA/Phone for the OS...they buy it for the features it performs.... and the ROM chefs are only making end users envision what they could do with thier devices. Therefore the OEM selling more, and purchasing more licences/or whatever from MS!
Heyho...Keep up the good work.

Yeah bit of topic but still..
Well i just read T-Mobile was prancing around with one of the first devices to boast WM6.1. on CEBIT.
I would love to walk up to them and tell them what a great job MS has done and show them my own version.
It takes the sting out of the marketing, and marketing is everything.
It could also be that it was a build never to see the light of day.
I said this before. I have never seen a new OS being ported and working on so many devices flawlessly before it even came out.
So compared to previous ports.
I can understand they are a bit pissed of.

Sorry for writing this, but I think the manual (the written instructions for HyperCore_V1.01) has many faults....
Here are my results:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- when the ROM is extracted into the dump-folder, can I then replace the *.0409.mui files with *.0407.mui files ? Can I rename all the subdirs (i.e. "urlmon.dll.0409.mui") to "urlmon.dll.0407.mui" ?
I would prefer to have a german ROM :-)
- after starting PKGTool and selecting the "Manual"-mode there isn't an Explorer-Window opened....
-in my case Tools-BuildPackages has organized the "Dump"-folder only into SYS, OEM and 1 file named "msim.96.dll". Nothing more..... even no folder "Missing Files".
BUT I have these entries in the window of the Package Tool:
[Missing Files]
SYS\SIM_TKit
File: 1dc3da02-499f-4547-9fd2-78cddfda9c62.rgu
SYS\SMIME
File: 8cb4ac12-6bc5-4bda-ab45-539988c36a95.rgu
{... and a lot of other files }
When I now take a look into the SYS-folder I can see this SIM_TKit-folder...
BUT NOT this file -> 1dc3da02-499f-4547-9fd2-78cddfda9c62.rgu ! There is a file with this name -> 1dc3da02-499f-4547-9fd2-78cddfda9c62.dsm !!
Is this correct or not ? Because why does the Package Tool report them as "Missing Files" ?
- your next instruction is "DumpXIP" ... but what's with the already running "PKGTool" ? Must it be closed or kept open ? What's with option "5" in this window ?
Do we need this ?
- after starting DumpXIP a DOS-Box pops up and the first line shows:
Place the "OS.nb" here :
* Press [ENTER] when ready.
But WHERE should I place "OS.nb" ???
In XIP.bat I can only find the following:
echo. %loc%
echo. Place the "OS.nb" here :
echo.
"%systemroot%\explorer" "Extract\"
SET /P Choice=* Press [ENTER] when ready.
As you can see: [echo. Place the "OS.nb" here : ] ... but where ????
Your further instructions:
Remember to move the XIP folder to "HyperCore\Build\ROM" folder
There is no XIP folder !!? Do you mean the "HyperCore\Tools\XIP_extract" folder ?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The program looks fine and seems to do what it should do ... but the written instructions are faulty. Sorry, but that's the reality.
Anyway...at this point I MUST stop because of false instructions ... so my 1st attempt to cook a ROM wasn't successful :-(
Hopefully my next attempt will be much better (with your help) !?

The missing files folder should be created by the Installer for HyperCore.
You only replace the MUI files once you have used Package.
So if i get it right you run
C:\Core\HyperCore\Panel\Extract\1. DumpRom
Hit Enter.
Wait.
Choose Option Wait
Choose Option One.
Choose option 3 manual
Package tool should open (Vista or XP?)
Choose File >> Open >> Browse to > Computer > C > Core > HyperCore > Extract > Dump > OK > Wait....
Go to C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\
Rename dump into Packages.
File > Exit.
Do Option 4 and then Option 5.
Let's see if this gets working first.
Check to see if You have Good .Net frameworks installed and the correct XP or Vista Batch Files.

Dear Noonski,
thanks for your explanations. I will try it again (hopefully) today ;)
One hint:
You wrote The missing files folder should be created by the Installer for HyperCore.
I started the installer (HyperCore_V1.01) and the following happend:
- created a folder "Core" on C:
- created subfolders Core\ACK, Core\Batch, Core\Help, Core\Icons, Core\Tools
- created an icon "HyperCore" on the desktop (linked to:C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\obiwan2\Desktop) ... it's german :o:o
- there was NO subfolder core\HyperCore !!?
The program was running without general problems ONLY AFTER MOVING HyperCore manually from the Desktop to C:\Core\
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
So if i get it right you run
C:\Core\HyperCore\Panel\Extract\1. DumpRom
Hit Enter.
Wait.
Choose Option Wait
Choose Option One.
Choose option 3 manual
Package tool should open (Vista or XP?)
Choose File >> Open >> Browse to > Computer > C > Core > HyperCore > Extract > Dump > OK > Wait....
Go to C:\Core\HyperCore\Extract\
Rename dump into Packages.
File > Exit.
Do Option 4 and then 5
This was nearly exactly what I've done...except the last step. Regarding to your instructions there was no Option 5 after selecting Option 4...only "DumpXIP". Is there a newer "Beginner's manual" ??
Check to see if You have Good .Net frameworks installed and the correct XP or Vista Batch Files.
- installed Hyper Core Kitchen For Elf (from your post #33)
- downloaded+installed ACK.zip and RUU.zip (from your post #33)
- Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (already installed)
- XP or Vista Batch Files (I have only XP installed, so don't needed the VISTA-batch)
Should I try an "older" version of the installer (if available) ?
The new one (v1.01) doesn't create the folder ....\Missing Files and doesn't create the folder C:\Core\HyperCore\ (and the belonging subfolders).
Many thanks again

1. Yes i think so Someone else told me it did. (there is a little test you can do)
Take a big xp exe and put it in the cook. CHeck the size.
Then use the compression tool in HyperCore on that exe and cook it again with the compressed exe.
If there is a difference in ROM size then it doesn't compress the OS.NB enough.
2. I'm still waiting for someone to come with a good explanation about this whole XIP thing?
3. Well the files came from a Vadafone Kaiser Device.

gOOD QUESTIONS.
ON old ELF roms it was easier.
You could simply follow the Change PagePool Toturial.
On these new ELF/ELFIN roms it's still a secret to me.
Easiest is
mxipupdate_zzPIED_100.provxml
But there where some other registry keys to.
These days i don't really care to much about those other ones i stopped changing them.
There's also an ADO registry key with a version sub number.
And someone reported that the PROVXML doesn't always stick.

What does the XIP do? Apart from containing a large portion of the registry and drivers. I changed the XIP a few times to notice that it changes the CE OS build of the rom. This way I could change an ELFIN rom to an Elf rom to gain more programm memory.

have we got a porting manual somewhere?

You only use SYS and OEM folders from that Rom.
Then use original XIP from Bepe's Kitchen to make a true WM6.1
I did just a little reading up.
But XIP contains device specific OS files, that can defenetly not be ported.
For now all i did was Just copy over new Simmanager exe. 6.41
I don't need the whole OS.
Now testing the WLM from that build. (contacts Sync still not fast enough .. ghehehe)
I''l upload my Java pagackage which should be identical to the new one so a new package can easily be made. (not at home)

Hey guys!
Need some help here!
After creating a RUU_Signed.nbh
I try to flash my TouchXL but I allways get (at 3%):
"ERROR {328} INVALID COMMAND
This Update Utility cannot be used for your PDA Phone."
Have in mind:
1.My phone is CID-Unlocked.
2.I could flash any other custom ROM with the some ROM_Update_Utility.
3.I only tried to take Swiftblade's_ROM_v5 and just
remove the cube,
change some gfx
and add a couple apps for personal use.
4.If there was something wrong during "cooking" wouldn't I get an error message and stop the proccess?
5.When I just extract a ROM and then build it without any changes I get a ".nbh" 0.3MB smaller than the pre-extracted!I think I have the same problem like here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335631&page=9) but the solution doesn't help much:(

Tried to upgrade Audio Manager from 1.2.919.713 to 1.2.1017.717. But after changing all the files and registry keys I get warrning message saying something like "The application is not signed with trusted certificat or some files are missing".
I think I copied all files so the problem is certificat, if I am right...
How can this problem be solved?

also how do i completely get rid of the cube just like shadow did in his ce rom? i tried deleting the files as per the oem package but after flashing wen i swipe my finger it shows me error that biotouch.exe not found

i have started to get a very weird problem suddenly... after i run the pkgtool on my own customised rom, it doesnt detect any details of the oem but it also creates a sys folder in the dump...
I had the same thing happening when extracting my Dumped_Original_ROM!It was like no packages were created, but they actually did in the dump-folder!
..."BETA, make your own rom"...
If you used bepe's kitchen to build your ROM, then you should expect this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1904869&postcount=31).
...also how do i completely get rid of the cube...
Let me tell you what I removed in order to get rid of the cube:
* the cube gfx from OEMAPPS along with APLauncher.exe, MediaHubMini.exe and QuickDial.exe (with their gfx) while I renamed AltTab.exe to Biotouch.exe and overwrote the old one with that one (I think Noonski's done it in his ROM and I like it a lot! ),
* every ".provxml" related to cube from OEM_Lang_0409,
* the StartUpBiotouch.exe and StartUpBiotouch.lnk from OEMsomewhere:D
* overwrote the LaunchStartupApp.lst in OEMDrivers with the one attached below.
(That's all I remember doing, but I can't see if it works, cause
I can't flash the fricking ROM!Please...any ideas why?)

This is a feature of Bepe's Kitchen.
What it does is combine all .DSM and .RGU files into only a few .DMS and RGU files instead of many.
This will get less of these files in the flashed Windows folder therefore increasing performance a little bit.
What DSM file do is hold the information of which files go where when extracting the ROM.
But Bepe's kitchen writes a predifined code that basicly then says that the ROM basically only contains the "Cook Your Own ROM" folder.
This again also makes the DSm file containing that information smaller again adding to a cleaner smaller rom even if it's just a few bytes.
Also this encourages Cooks to be more creative and learning more instead of just copying someone elses rom and adjust it slightly..
If you weigh the advantages with the disadvantages.
The advantages defintly win.
So expected behaviour.
The registry key to disable the Cube swiping is one i m entioned very early on in this thread it was.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\OEM\TFLOSettings]
"EnableCube"=dword:1
Set it to 0
Or Place any Exe file you want to run on Swipe up into rom renaming it into "BioTouch.exe"

@noonski... i cooked a new rom for myself.. its 51208 kb in size a perfect 50 mb file :D i removed device information from the rom, but after that the backlight doesnt work :( it opens and before anything is shown it closes (i think i must ve done something wrong somewhere) but can u guide me to a package where i can know how to get it working back again? i added htc home plugin monster package which you posted and even in that the backlight setting doesnt work. apart from this there's no problem at all
even after having ultimate launcher with all shortcuts and htc home added in it, the free memory is about 67mb which is actually fast. would u have any idea how to change the pagepool of this rom? i wanted to make it 8mb..
i edited the version provxml file to show my name in it, after that the device info also couldnt open. i recooked the rom with the file saved as unicode and then it worked, would this be a problem for backlight to be not working? please reply soon, i think this is a perfect rom that i have wanted :)

I've decided it's time to start Cooking a Rom for my Elf(in). So I got all the files (I think) got everything installed. I got to the step to extract the RUU_Signed,nbhfile. SO I followed these instructions. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1599608&postcount=73
The problem is when I get to step 5 I get a error saying there is no RUU_Signed file & there is.
I attached a screenshot to show that it's there.
What have I done wrong? Does it have anything to do with my phone being an Elf(in)?

Whene you install HyperCore kitchen folder named HyperCore is made on desktop.
Go to HyperCore\Extract\Source and in that folder place the source file.

I dumped my first Rom :) Now I have to see where to go to next. Have to find out how to remove things like transcriber, office apps, basically all the junk I won't ever use. Then I can customize the looks of it.
I'm new to all the ROM editing so I will probably have a few more issues I'll need help with. Thanks for the help.

Please be aware that most of this tutorial comes from Information written by others, but then edited my way.
1. There are two types of ROM downloads. A selfextracting version that runs the updater automaticly (ussualy a stock ROM). And then there's the zip package that shows you all the files inside.
2. With the selfextracting EXE you simply rightclick on it and choose to extract here...................
Blah Blah (So not to have my own private page :) )
15. You are now ready to start Cooking. Thanks to Anichillus for including the instruction on how to extract in the HyperCore Kitchen and modifying all the scripts. And thanks to It'sme for the original extracting script Pof & the Blasphemer for making it more user friendly and Bepe for the Package Tool.
Please report any mistakes ore additions for a better cooking experience.
Ok I did all of this. I also removed some files and folders from the \HyperCore\Build\OEM\OEMAPPS just junk I didnt want like adobe and that IA zip.
Then I went to the \HyperCore\Panel\Build and clicked on the BuildOS (Just so we know I found a 2 tuts in the HyperCore pack 1 as a pdf and the other as a word document and I read them both multiple time.) That went fine without any errors.
Ok all goes well until I get to the HTC Rom tool I put the saved RUU_Signed.nbh on my desktop. When I asve the file I put the OS.nb into the bottom slot the System?
http://www.nab-systems.com/warren/HTCRRT-001.jpg
When it finishes I ge a Green DONE: All seems to be ok!
So I move onto the next step and that is the Flash and I always get a 266 Error.
Ahhh what am I doing wrong ???? (He cries out loud with a bald head and a hand full of hair)
