ok, i think a made a stuped thing
I remove everything from the \Ext except for Power and PowerOffWarning, flashed and now my device boot and stay at the IPL :(
Any idea? I was trying to see what apps i can remove and then added the necesary.
I'm not sure. I just scanned through the list of packages included in EXT and none of them are required to build a working ROM. I find that whenever I get a ROM that won't boot it ends up being due to registry errors. Did you make changes to anything else?

Well, I guess you can do it the hard way and remove them a few at a time to see which one was causing the problem.

i have sucessfully ported 23034 SYS and XIP.. but i have loads of probs i dont know whether this is because of the beta build or i myself made errors.. let me list down the problems please help me in this..
1. Scrolling does'nt work.. it works but it's like moving the page.. kinetic scrolling i guess is not working.
2. Close button appears on both the top right corner also at the bottom left.. (As per 23034 'X' button should only be at the bottom left).
3. The bottom 'X' button has VGA graphics it appears huge.
4. Sometimes the icons in start menu does'nt work after scrolling.
5. This thing does not work http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/3844/86126770.jpg :(
please help me solve it.. thanks :)

Here is the kitchen I used to build the ROM posted just above this post.
http://www.myunspace.com/?d=170435AA1
It's a slightly modified version of the kitchen by Kokotas. It's based on Platformrebuilder and has batch files by Kokotas. In order to support WM 6.5 I updated platformrebuilder.exe to 2.1 and added set OLDKERNEL=1 to build_rom.bat.
I dumped 3.10.710.0 for the OEM and EXT packages (using this kitchen to do the dump). The XIP came from dsixda and the SYS was obtained by dumping the SDK using "Dump_SDK" that I posted the other day.
I added the battery registry change to the RGU in OEMDrivers and modified the registry entry for Bootlauncher in EXT.
dsixda has also made his kitchen public. It can be found here (http://www.4shared.com/dir/11831267/325e6228/sharing.html).
If you want to use Platformrebuilder as is, you have to make a few slight changes....
-The OEM & SYS from the above kitchen will work fine with a standard install of Platformrebuilder.
-For the EXT packages move them from ElfinK_WWE\EXT\IncludedPackages to Platformrebuilder\BASIC_RK\EXT\
-Update to 2.1 and add "set OLDKERNEL=1" to build_rom.bat if you haven't already
-Make the following change to \BASIC_RK\TOOLS\CreateROM.bat
Change this
..\TOOLS\IMGFS\ImgfsToNb imgfs-new.bin OS.nb.payload OS-new.nb.payload -bigstoragemove
if not "%errorlevel%"=="0" goto error
..\TOOLS\IMGFS\NBMerge -kaiser OS-new.nb
if not "%errorlevel%"=="0" goto error
To this
..\TOOLS\IMGFS\ImgfsToNb imgfs-new.bin OS.nb.payload OS-new.nb -bigstoragemove
if not "%errorlevel%"=="0" goto error
REM ..\TOOLS\IMGFS\NBMerge -kaiser OS-new.nb
REM if not "%errorlevel%"=="0" goto error
-Finally, if you want to use the os.nb.payload that came with Kokotas's kitchen, make the following additional change to CreateROM.bat
Change this
REM ================================================== =========================================
echo.
..\TOOLS\implantxip xip.bin OS.nb.payload
if not "%errorlevel%"=="0" goto error
REM ================================================== =========================================
To this
REM ================================================== =========================================
echo.
..\TOOLS\msflshtool.exe OS.nb.payload -r xip.bin -p 0
if not "%errorlevel%"=="0" goto error
REM ================================================== =========================================
and copy msflshtool.exe from \ElfinK_WWE\TOOLS\ to Platformrebuilder\BASIC_RK\TOOLS\
otherwise rename your os.nb to os.nb.payload and copy it to \BASIC_RK\ROM
A major benefit to using Kokotas's kitchen is that he uses yang.exe to automatically build the os.nb into a flashable ROM. With Platformrebuilder, you need to manually build the ROM using something like HTC ROM Tool (htcrt.exe).
Cheers,
TrueG

If you drag the dsm files on top of packagebuilder.exe (\ElfinK_WWE\TOOLS\pkg\) it will organize the files into the correct folder structure. Keep the OEMXipKernel from the kitchen and use the new MSXIPKernel from the ported XIP.

Most often the registry entries for a particular package would be contained in the RGU found in the same folder. For example, you can safely delete VoiceCommand & VoiceCommand_Lang_0409. All of the needed registry entries are contained within those folders.

SYS - very often you don't need to make many changes to this, unless you need to change the language or would like to make changes to default settings (like the font size for example).
ADC - Automatic Data Connection wizard - automatically configures your data settings based on your SIM card. It works great for me (Rogers Wireless in Canada), but it may not work for you. Some people prefer HTC connectionsetup. Feel free to delete both folders.
AdobeFlash - Adobe Flash Lite - Allows IE to render web pages with Flash. Works well for animations (example www.homestarrunner.com), but a bit slow for video (youtube). Delete if you no longer want to support Flash.
AutoUpdate - Windows Mobile Autoupdate - can be removed assuming you keep packageinfoapi.dll (mentioned by !Aman! on the previous page).
Base* - WM OS files - do not delete any of these folders - various changes can be made to the RGU files if you know what you are doing. There are also several files that can be modified or deleted, but there are too many to cover here.
Bluetooth - Windows Mobile Bluetooth stack
Bronze* - Titanium CPR files and graphics
Browsing* - Windows Mobile Internet Explorer
BTDUN - Dial-up Networking Profile for Bluetooth
Bth_A2DP* - Advanced Audio Distribution Profile for Bluetooth
Bth_HID - Human Interface Device Profile for Bluetooth
CHome* - Titanium drivers and settings
CommonNonEA - contains a single registry setting pertaining to Inbox Recipient Autocomplete
ConfettiCore - do not delete - required by Titanium, Lockscreen & Shell32
DRM - default WM DRM driver
Enterprise* - several of the folders are empty, but the main folder contains the drivers and settings for NDIS & IPSec
Entertainment* - contains the games BubbleBreaker & Solitare - often deleted
FWUPDATE* - allows for over the air ROM updates - not currently supported - can be deleted and replaced with dummy package
GPSID - contains the default GPS driver
InternetSharing - WM Internet Sharing - Allows you to share your data connection with another device (example: laptop).
IPSECVPN - core drivers for IPSec & VPN
IRDA* - drivers for Infrared adapter - can be deleted unless your device actually has an infrared adapter. The ELF does not.
Lockscreen - drivers, graphics & CPR files for the new Lockscreen included with WM 6.5
MediaOS - drivers & resources for Windows Media Player Mobile
Metadata - registry & certificate resource files
NetCF - .Net for Windows Mobile - WM 6.5 SDK still includes version 2.0
Office* - Microsoft Office Mobile
OneNote* - Microsoft One Note Mobile
OS* - Windows Mobile 6.5 core OS drivers & resources
Phone* - Drivers, resources & ringtones for Phone support - needed for Phone support, but resources for the dialer, call history & speed dial can be changed.
ppgprov - contains a single provxml that sets up the WAP push gateway for SMS
Redist* - contains a lot of OS applications & resources
RUNTIMES - OS Runtime libraries (for example MFC for C++)
SampleMusic - contains the default songs that come with Windows Mobile - I usually delete this folder
Shell - more core OS files - do not delete - the RGU contains many useful registry settings
SIM_TKit - used for loading SIM card apps - possibly required if you use a Super SIM
Skybox - Microsoft MyPhone - Allows you to back up SMS, documents, music, etc online. Actually pretty useful.
Skymarket - Windows Mobile Marketplace - Has yet to launch
SMIME - Email encryption driver
SMS_Providers - driver & registry settings for SMS
SQL* - SQL for Mobile
SQM - System Quality Metrics - Used in conjunction with Error Reporting - often deleted and replaced with dummy custsat.dll
Themes* - contains TSK files & resources for the default Themes
Transcriber* - Windows Mobile Transcriber SIP - handwriting recognition software
VoiceCommand* - Voice Activated Control/Input System - I find it works very well and use it while driving, but not everyone likes it.
WelcomeCenter* - Welcome Center Wizard that provides assistance in doing basic tasks - I always delete this
WinCENLS_WWE - National Language Support file - gets replaced if you port to a different language.
WindowsLive* - Microsoft Windows Live Mobile - provides interface for Windows Live & IM.
WMLiveSearchWidget - Live Search Widget - feel free to delete - other Widgets like MS Money & MS Weather can also be found here on XDA.
WMWidgets* - drivers & resources to support Widgets
WWAN - contains wwan.dll & registry entry - can't find much info on it, but doesn't seem to be of much value.

I don't know what are the files to change?
Do you have the QVGA version? Is it already in the language that you want? Assuming you have a clean dump of a QVGA SYS in the language you want you should just need to keep the .VM, .ROM & WinCENLS_WWE (assuming you want English). That is all I used when porting the SYS from the SDK. I'm not even sure you need the .VM or .ROM with platformrebuilder, but it doesn't hurt.

Hi trueg,
- First of all let me thank you whole heartedly for the information you provided here. It is truely a starting cooking base for many new-bies here (like me).
- Since dsixda/vadyarik et al moved to newer phones ROM development, I decided to build a custom WM 6.5 ROM for my Elfin.
- I dumped the official 3.10 WM 6.1 ROM, again cooked it without any change using "ELFin_Hybrid_Kitchen_v2.0.7.exe". All was fine with this ROM.
- But the "stuck on boot screen" problem started nagging once I shifted to WM 6.5 SYS/XIP. This was similar to what depakjan mentioned in his posts.
- After refering to this thread and using the kitchen shared by you, I am able to cook my own WM6.5 ROM (build 21234 to start with). Hurray !!
Having said that : Do you have any idea regarding the issue I (or depakjan) faced with ELFin_Hybrid_Kitchen_v2.0.7.exe? If no, is there any thread that deals with this kitchen, where I can post the observations so far?
Lastly, once again many thanks for your time and urge to provide the help.

Well a couple of things. I personally don't have a HTC Touch, just a Touch Pro, so I am unable to do any testing or debugging for you. I also use 21234 for my personal ROM, so I don't have much experience with problems you may encounter with leaked beta code from Microsoft. I use 21234 because that is the official release of Windows Mobile 6.5. When we start seeing ROMs from HTC, SE & LG in the next few weeks, they should be based on 21234.
With that said, I whipped up a copy of WM 6.5 23034 QVGA for the ELF. Does somebody want to give it a try? If it works I will upload the kitchen for you folks and tell you how I did it.

Well Kokotas and Bepe are to thank. You should also be able to use a stock Platformrebuilder kitchen using the method I described a few pages back. Kokotas's kitchen is nice because he added a few batch files that simplify things.
As for the graphics, they appear to be the correct size. I made a comparison photo attached to this post that compares a VGA screenshot to the QVGA screenshot above. The graphics appear equal in size. What appears to be wrong is the font size. The font size within the graphic (Contacts for example) is too big.

Hi All,
- As I mentioned earlier, I am able to build a WM 6.5 ROM based on 21234. It is working fine.
- However I am facing a strange issue that :
1. I am unable to pick the call if phone is locked.
2. If I change the setting of lock screen as "Windows Default" then I am able to pick the call properly.
3. In case the phone is unlocked, I am able to pick the call irrespective of lock screen type (i.e. default vs classic).
4. I have removed CHome*, WMWidgets, WMLiveSearch, WindowsLive, WindowsLiveIM, WelcomeCentre, OneNote from the SYS.
Any idea what must going wrong here?
- Also I have included advanced config tool in the ROM. But when I open it, it bails out with error that : This .exe requires a later version of .Net than the one install in this device.
Any idea how to overcome this?

Second: I am using both XIP and SYS from 23041. Deleted everything from SYS folder in Trueg's Kitchen, with the exception of .VM & WinCENLS_WWE
Can someone please look at my screen and tell what I did wrong?

Also, I notice the icons are not the same 23041 + still rectangular shape instead of oval.
Thanks

Hey, long time my friend. How have you been? Yes, 23041 has so many bugs.
When I installed other programs. These icons are blurry, like wrong size or something (they are indeed larger as well)
Mind posting SYS and XIP for 21840?

I've decided to revert back to 23009 built. It is the most stable, and not power(battery) hungry. With this new 23041 built. I had a full charge this morning, and by 2pm, it was 20% juice left.

Will make a "Cooking Class 2009/2010/WM6.5 Edition" Thread Sticky.
Unfortunatly my ELF Screen Died just the day before i was going to "Maybe" give it to my little sister.
So my eventual planned return to cook up something Elfish is of my List now.
Maybe i can write an article explaining Why XDA_UC is so underestimated:D and helpfull in cooking to.
I'll be back from holidays in a few days to make the new Thread Sticky and give TrueG his Masters in Teaching:).

- I tried to build a ROM with 23009. My aim is and was : WM 6.5 + M2D + Custom applications - Titanium.
- All was fine except after scrolling the start menu page it was messed up i.e. the icons blended with each other to the point where it was impossible to detect visually which icon below to which applet on the screen.
This is just FYI as I am quite new to cooking and might have messed up the kitchen unknowingly.

- BTW which is the known, stable WM 6.5 build? I believe its 23004 (used by vadyarik in his ROMs).
- I tried searching for its SYS/XIP, but got the invalid link.
My aim is :
1. WM 6.5 (21237 : SDK version released by MS) + M2D + Custom Applications - Titanium
2. WM 6.5 (Latest known stable build) + M2D + Custom Applications - Titanium

It's rarely the certificate that causes issues.
I would look into the Shared Packages and Version info DLL files or cuncurrencemanager that it might need. Haven't worked with the mega packages, but there might be needing a a lot of other dependent packages.

Process I used to update the kitchen with 23034.....
- Backup kitchen
- Delete ElfinK_WWE\ROM\XIP\MSXIPKernel
- Delete everything from ElfinK_WWE\SYS\ except .VM & WinCENLS_WWE
- Copy MSXIPKernel from 23034 to ElfinK_WWE\ROM\XIP\

Thanks for the beautiful kitchen. I have been wanting to cook roms myself and was struggling to start, there i found the most simplest kitchen. thanks TrueG.
Tried building rom from the default kitchen (just wanted see how it works b4 porting 23409). flashed the rom to my mobile and every was fine. i have touch 64/128 so thought of removing some applications, removed few from SYS and moved some from IncludedPackages to ExcludedPackages. Now i built the rom and flashed it to mobile without any issue.
how ever in my mobile i got few issues, chome is not loading at all (am able to uncheck windows default and select date instead etc). and also the phone-dialpad is not working, when i press call button or menu>phone nothing happens?
what am i doing wrong?

one question, when i remove certain appz (eg opera mobile) from includedpackage, when the mobile boots up for the 1st time, it goes into customization mode (installs few apps) and returns a error something like unable to find operamobile* etc.
Am i missing a step? should i edit some file?

If you know your way around registry entries, then editing rgu and provxml is really easy. you can unhide the extension option from your folder options and change the *.rgu or *.provxml to simply *.txt and edit the entries you want USING notepad and save the changes and revert back to original extension.
example:
this_is_my_file.rgu > this_is_my_file.txt (NOW EDIT EDIT EDIT) and then this_is_my_file.rgu
btw its always much better to integrate your own customization file. meaning, your own created rgu or provxml file into the OEM. the following link offers a great tutorial on how to do so...

Packages in EXT\IncludedPackages must be in the new EXT style format to load properly. Ervius EXT_PAckages_rebuilder can do that for you. Otherwise putting the folder in \OEM\ will ensure that it gets loaded (as you have already found out).
How do i create and edit reg entries and provxml file, do i usa notepad and then what??
One way is to change the extension as ayyu3m mentioned. I personally like to associate rgu and provxml files with Notepad so that I simply need to double click them to view and edit them.
Right click the rgu or provxml file and select "Open With...", then select Notepad and check off "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file". If "Open With..." is not listed in the context menu, double left click the file and the "Windows cannot open this file" dialogue will open. Choose "Select the program from a list" and the "Open With" dialogue box will then open.

Hi trueg,
- I have not tried with CHome* and Bronze* back in. This is beacuse, I dont wont to have the default Titanium that comes with default SYS (as I want WM 6.5 + M2D ROM). But if you say its worth trying then, I will check when I get some more time (may be by weekend).
- By phone skin, I meant whatever it means from : Advanced Config -> Phone -> Phone Skin :-).
- I tried removing \OEM\PACKAGE_Elfin_PhoneCanvas : Same result.
- I tried removing \EXT\IncludedPackages\PhoneSetting_dll 6_16_0_0 : Same result.
1. Then I removed both "\OEM\PACKAGE_Elfin_PhoneCanvas" and "\EXT\IncludedPackages\PhoneSetting_dll 6_16_0_0".
2. Added "Dialer - Opal PhoneCanvas" from Opal OEM.
3. With this it works fine i.e. I am able to attend calls using the default WM 6.5 slider lock screen.
Can you please shed some light here regarding what could be the issue? Also which package you refer as HTC dialer?

i think that there are issues with drivers

Since MicrophoneAGC & Advanced Network do not have cpl files, HTC loads them in the control panel using MyCPL. To remove them, you need to edit the following file....
\EXT\IncludedPackages\MyCPL 3_13_0_0\0409\files\mxip_oem_translation_No_WiFi_0 409.provxml

Man!!! I need to get back into cooking. All these problems reminds me of how we used to cook roms back in the good ol' days.
Noonski was my guru at that time, and my classmates were dsixda (boy we really had fun chattin overnight, testing bluetooth not turning on problem) and finally we got it to start. and there was trueg also, one of my oldest friend....i use to ask and pm trueg as well....and lets not forget kancrutt....he was a rom flasher back in the days....and now...he is a cook too.
man.....i need a secondary device.....anybody having el cheapo nokia phone...atleast i can stay connected while i bake and fry my ELFIN.....
**sigh**
btw honcorrd....i m having the same problem with cabs not auto installing....i m pretty sure there is some other file...hmmmm...lemme sneek arnd my ELFIN base
okay...i m havin an idea...lemme check my thesis and get back to you....
EDIT: Okay! Use the attached OEM Security Package while you cook....you can extract and place the folder in your OEM or SYS in the kitchen and NOW COOK and see if your cabs get installed...
WHY?? Becoz security plays an essential role in controlling what is being installed on your device. So you remember the naggin screen which you get when you wana install a cab..."the following cab is not from a trusted source...blah blah blah..."
IF SO HOW COME?? yeah good point...why does cabs like Opera and Google maps get installed...simple...they have been labelled trusted sources
EDIT AGAIN: no more crossed fingers....it works for honcorrd now...yippeeee!!!!
credit: package courtesy of Noonski, when i had the same problem

EDIT Flashed and nothing happend. :mad:
Will try your way and see.... Creating the rom right now.... flashing with your recommendations ;)

Not to sell my own Stuff but Using Autorun.exe is a Bit Outdated.
I made XDA_UC
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=525810
Not just for User customization, but also for Cook Friendliness.
Remove Autorun and CheckAutorun exe and LNK files.
And all Cabbs will be installed silently While the phone boots.
You would still need the Security Off Package but that's already included into XDA_UC.
And you don't need to set up SDAutorun as that is already included to into the Deal.

regarding 6.5 with m2d
i think that there are issues with drivers
and regarding your canvas the opal canvas does not work well with 6.5 and the default dialer is included in every sys
all my 6.5 have default windows dialer
- So do mean to say that removing the Dialer - Opal PhoneCanvas should be fine? Do I need to put back the removed packages?
- Can you post the snap of default windows dialer? I am getting confused with phone canvas and dialer :-).

For the battery indicator i was able to put the icon on the taskbar, but don't remember what i did. :( Couse i was not following a log on the things i put and i remove. So now i don have a log change. Really dont know what to do to bring it back. :confused:
Im testing the mega package to see which one can be used and wich one not. Having some issue with the wifi not turning one when i install some package of the Mega. I was thinking tha the Commanager was the problem, but no is not the Commanager, i thinks is the Notification Enhancement, don't know why. Keep Testing to see :D

RunCC is found in the new OEMs for Topaz/Rhodium/Mega etc... I just take it out because I don't use it.
Yeah I used the Mega Phone Canvas/ Volume / Audio Mgr/ Youtube. The Youtube/Audio Manager/Phone Canvas scrolling work fine now in 6.5.
The problem, however, was when I think I added the SharedModule OEM (for YouTube to work).. I overwrote an Elfin DLL (verinfou2.dll) and I think that affected the ability to do tap-and-hold in the Start Menu shortcuts and in File Explorer. I'm not home right now so I can't look at the problem in detail :(
BTW, the MEGA ResourceProxy and SharedModule are needed for the MEGA YouTube to work on the Elf. But you need to do the registry hack for ResourceProxy or your device will chew up a ton of memory.

I did a full port of Mega to Elf but had a few issues like the ones you mentioned. Bluetooth and Wifi can't be set from Comm Manager, although there are registry fixes for both of them in another thread. They didn't work for me, however.
HTC Menu Enhancement started working when I copied HTCScroll.dll from the Rhodium ROM into my Elf, but then when I cooked it into the ROM and flashed, it stopped working. Notification Enhancement works though.

Hmm nothing special in there except for
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\DebLogger\Zone\NTF]
"Severity"=dword:00000000
"OutputEnable"=dword:00000001
A same Deblogger setting screwed with my PhotoPicker before. after i took out this setting it reacted normally again.
Also test removing
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\NOTIFICATIONMANAGER \{DDBD3B44-80B0-4B24-9DC4-839FEA6E559E}]
"Img"="\\windows\\notifications_icon_Wifi.png"
"Dismissable"=dword:00000001
(Who knows)
I looked at the working files and found nothing special (yet, i didn't convert the modules back to files yet, but checked mine) using HexEdit referring to CommManager or Wifi.
(Always cool finding registry settings that aren't used in the RGU using HexEdit)
And this Mega Package had a lot more Registry entries then the Rhodium version i have.
Also check what happens setting
"NTFLayoutShowOEMBubble"=dword:00000000
to
"NTFLayoutShowOEMBubble"=dword:00000001
And
"UseDefaultUI"=dword:00000000
to
"UseDefaultUI"=dword:00000001
To see if this disables the Notification manager and if that has effect on CommManager.
Otherwise go hardcore and disable the service using DotFreds Taskmanager.
I'll go flash to my Raphael with all of these Reg settings and 1 new file i didn't have see what effect it has on my stuff.
Also check
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN]
"DeviceName"="{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\\TNETW12511"
To see if it has the correct value for the elf (this is kine for Touch Pro)
Remember having Wifi issues having an incorrect value here.

Hi ayyu3m,
- Thanks for the update. And also many Thanks for sharing the OEM package.
- However, following is the information I got by doing a Google Search regarding in-call volume issue :
1. Search the "[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\InC all]" in the folder "SYS\Phone".
2. Change "InitVol"=dword:2 to "InitVol"=dword:5
- My understanding till now is that changing registry value is much safer than replacing the entire binary from different phone as it can have unknown side-effects.
Any idea will the above method of changing registry will work or not, as I have not tried it yet :-). (Otherwise your method is the ONE :-)).

It's a service (know you know this) and it checks if the HTC PhoneCanvas windows is running to adjust the incall for it. MS Volume doesn't check that and it can be that previous Volume control had a different Window Class that it checked for other phonecanvas maybe?

believe me bro. this is how i solved the in-call volume problem.
Ok, cool bro, I believe you..
Is it louder than the Mega one, and does it work correctly with the new Phone Canvas as well as YouTube, WMP and Audio Manager (i.e. showing the volume meter on the side)?

You can download this cool app "My Mobiler" from http://www.mymobiler.com/down.aspx. This will emulate the PPC screen (ActiveSync is needed).
This app provides options for taking screenshots, video clips etc....

- I am in process of removing the ULDR partition from my ROM so as to free some memory.
- I followed the process of removing it from "the ULDR removal thread" but has been failing miserably.
- The kitchen is crashing while executing the following command from TOOLS\CreateROM.bat :
..\TOOLS\IMGFS\ImgfsFromNb.exe OS.nb.payload imgfs.bin
if not "%errorlevel%"=="0" goto error
- I think it says (not 100% sure though) : "Cannot open/find the input file imgfs.bin"
- Can someone provide some pointers to what is mistake here? Or
- Can someone provide a "OS.nb.payload" with ULDR partition removed for Elfin (if its not too much to ask)? Meanwhile I will try to check what is going worng in my case.

This is to unpack and add providers to the XML then rezip it.
If you edit the RGU correctly you canalso rename provision.zip to provision.piz.
So the file is handled like other unknown file extension files, it is ignored By the OS (which is good)

I can help you when I go home and look at my files.. but basically, you have to set HTC Album as the default program for image files (e.g. JPG).
However, a side effect of this was that the Pictures & Videos shortcut in the programs menu was opening HTCAlbum.exe instead of pimg.exe. So I had to create a new shortcut file for Pictures & Videos to replace the existing one, so that it opened the correct program.
EDIT:
Try this and let me know what happens. I think even the "All Photos" soft key will open HTC Album too.
; Default image viewer; and All Photos location
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:M SPIMG]
"1"="htcalbum.exe -type:camerashot"
Also I think you need HTC Album 2.5 or higher to be able to set it as the default image viewer for JPG extension.. although I may be wrong.

Hi guys a few questions:
How do i stablish my Regional setting in Clock when im cooking my setting is -4 Atlantic, but we don't use time saving so i put Caracas - La Paz.
How do i include mortscrip in cooking, currently im installing via cab at autorun, but it put a folder at start menu. See attach
Dsixda, can you share with me the connection database for connection setup, i try various but none of them have Puerto Rico listed and yours have it. EDIT... Got it thanks to dsixda
Oh..... I just realized I copied my Elfin files to my work PC two days ago ;)
For Mortscript, make an OEM with just Mortscript.exe, mortzip.dll and the RGU and DSM files. No initflashfiles.txt or provxmls necessary, because Mortscript.exe will stay under \Windows.
The RGU should contain the following:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MortScript]
@="MortScript"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MortScript\DefaultIcon]
@="\\Windows\\MortScript.exe,-130"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MortScript\Shell\Open\Command]

For time zone:

I believe Kokotas already removed the ULDR from the os.payload in this kitchen, that is why msflashtool.exe is used instead of implantxip.exe. Implantxip doesn't work when the ULDR has been completely removed. You can see notes about it in \Tools\CreateROM.bat.

- Many Thanks for the update. So no need to work on this anymore :-).
- However when I open the OS.nb.payload in hex editor, it shows that there is some code from 0x400 upto 0x30FFFF, which according to the ULDR removal thread is ULDR partition.
- Also the byte offsets and the contents mentioned there match with OS.nb.payload. Thats why I had doubt whether ULDR is removed or not.
- ULDR removal thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=446506
Having said that, Is there any way to check whether ULDR partition is present or not in the ROM i.e. some registry key which stores the partition table info etc?

Since we remove the ULDR partition the following partition (XIP) goes up and starts from 0x400 instead.
Try osnbtool (something like : osnbtool -d OS.nb.payload 4 xip.bin) on the payload to see the list of partitions and check whether ULDR is removed or not...

XIP folder has two critical folders inside of it.
1- msxipkernel - contains drivers that are very specific to the version of os you are using (wm6/6.1/6/6.5)

That's a great answer. Also, the oemxipkernel should not be changed from build to build. When you get a new XIP just update the MSXIPKernel.
You can get the latest OemXipKernel from a shipped Elfin ROM, but don't use one from any other device.

Hi Honcorrd
I use tureg kitchen and in the tools folder you could use packge rebuilder to convert the mega packages into new visual type and put them in EXT> included packages, now i can add every thing to it and leave oem folder clean

Yes EXT_PAckages_rebuilder TOOLS > pkg Put the packages in this folder then drag and release over EXT_PAckages_rebuilder.exe you will find that the arrangement of the files inside the package has changed
Ps: if the package has two folders drag them one after the other and they will be converted into one folder

yes the manilla has too much dependencies. anyway i will continue to test all the mega package to wish one can be used and wish one not.
Thanks for the tip

Look for the correct Wifi driver name here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Drivers\WLAN
AdapterName = ????
Use that value here:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN]
"DeviceName"="{98C5250D-C29A-4985-AE5F-AFE5367E5006}\\?????"
Ok now i try some more Mega Package and decide to try again with commanager and notification enhancement and menu enhancement cooked.
Check the values for the wlan and there were diferent from my device so i changed and reset and wala it works. So now i have commanager, menu and notification enhancemente included on my rom

- Can someone tell me if changing page pool helps to get more RAM? I am observing that Elf users are at mercy of RAM usage of the ROM they are running on.
- Also the more I am making my ROMs lite by removing the unused or unpopular packages the more program space I am getting. But the RAM usage always swings between 35% - 40% on Elfin.
- On the side note, I am also observing that RAM usage in memory setting is between 35% - 40% on Elfin, but if I open the FDC task manager, get the RAM usage of all the current running process then, it si different than the one seen in memory setting. Unfortunatly I am not able to account it for anything. Any ideas? Is there anything that I am failing to see?

First Question is an easy one.
Yes changing the Pagepool will affect the size of available RAM.
I have actually never looked at the difference in memory usage between Dot Fred's taskmanager and the windows one. So it's one thing i will start noticing from now on.

- Thanks Mr Moderator for your suggestion regarding PP size. Will give it a try some time this weekend and get back next week. All Moderators simply rock !!
- Also Thanks for helping in checking the memory size issue observed by me. Hope we get some more insight in getting more RAM for Elf users.

Hi All,
- In an effort to minimize the RAM consumption of my ROMs, today I cooked a ROM with Titanium included. I already have cooked a ROM which has M2D.
- Both the ROMs are build on same base (SYS/XIP from 21864 & 3.14 OEM).
- With this I am observing that ROM with Titanium has less RAM usage and better battery life as compared to ROM with M2D.
Has anyone observed this before?
Is this the known issue?
Should I be trying with an updated version of M2D?
P.S. : I am not sure if this post is right in this thread. Mr. Moderator please let me know if it needs to be deleted and posted else where. :).

Any suggestion will be apreciate.

low in-call volume problem can be resolved by replacing HTCVolumeControl.dll with that from Opal volume control package
i attached the file for ur convenience
Does this allow the HTC VC OEM to work properly with WM65x?

1. Check the config.txt files in OEM (might be more then one in there)
It should have an EXEC:Custsk.exe theme.tsk command.
Replace your theme name in that part.
There should also be a .provxml file in OEMDrivers, OEMOperators (don't look for it in the PACKAGE folders), that will denote the Default theme, if the first trick with the config.txt file does not work.
2. Did you add a shortcut/.lnk file for them in their packages and did you make an initflashfiles.txt file to tell where those shortcuts should go?
3. No More ELF so, no idea.

Hi guys,
How do i hide the windows calc so it not appear at start program. i want to cook the htc calculator.
Thanks
Noonski

Just remove the mobilecalculator.exe from the SYS and it's .lnk.
Personally i don't use the HTC calc as it's bigger and uses more files then the also skinnable spb calculator.

to get the basic functions working you need the MEGA OEM packages for:
Manila 2D
HTCSCroll2
Shared Modules
HTC Framework
DRM Middleware
HTCAnimation
HTC AGPS
HTC GeoService
HTC GoogleLocationservice
HTC GPS GMM
that should get it working for you, may be a bit slow but there are optimised files posted in the New M2D thread in Dev/Hacking which you could add into the M2D package to use less memory

Using trueg's kitchen to cook SIP packages on builds 23071 or 23075 but can't make them work. Both works in build 23060 but not in builds 23071 up. Got suggestions from DaG's ROM thread about using the Metadata dir-files from the same build but that doesn't work either.
Am I missing something? Thanks for any clue or solution.

Just make a shortcut containing this:
99#"\Windows\jbed.exe" -run "s1_"?\Windows\Opera.dll,-1
But your s1_ may be something else, depending on what you have under windows/appdb
Oops, and the Opera.dll is a file that contains the shortcut icon... You can find the icon dll in the Development and Hacking thread for Opera Mini, or just use the Opera DLL from the Opera Mobile OEM. You can leave out the "?\Windows..." stuff, but then you will have the Jbed icon instead.
EDIT: Try these two files for the shortcut

Take a look at the default initflashfiles.dat
(Games folder)
Or the Office provisioning.provxml files to find out how the icon.lnk files are created to give a folder an Icon.
