Well I've tried several times to update my Imate Jamin, G4, using the temp ROM first and then step 2 but every time all I get is the startup image with the QTEK and no further, even after several hard resets.
I've tried three different ROMs without success.
Has anyone else had this problem?
The only thing I can think of that's different is that I've removed the Camera from the phone.
Would that make a difference:confused:

atleast you can enter bootloader [press comm button (one below camera and volume button) + soft reset (and release)and keep holding comm button until tricolor screen] and flash with nvid wm5 given in wm5 to wm6 upgrade thread don't loose time battery should not drain out.

- What do you mean removed the camera ?
- did you install the added Cert_SPCS.cab and EnableRapi.cab after step 1
- did you wait long enough (more than 10 minutes) for he final message in the update batch file
- did you have any error messages during the WM6 update
There are several threads with many tips, they do work.

Thanks for the reply.
- I opened up the case and un plugged the camera and removed it as I'm not allowed a camera phone at work.
- I didn't see anything about Cert_SPCS.cab in the instructions, I'll have a look in the forum. That could be it!
- I waited until the final message. And no error messages.

instead of removing camera you could have put up a full plastic lamination from some where infact an insulation tape over camera glass would have done the job.

I wish!
The solution for none removed cameras is a drill through the lens and green epoxy resin (or something green that sets hard) poured into the hole, at least this way I can put it back and sell it on, if needed.

No I'm running Xp, it just shows the DOS box and the status of the reflash until the completion box (in the DOS box) appears.

I think the problem here is the removed camera, i have exactly the same situation, my dopod 818 pro with removed camera have no way to upgrade to WM6, it run dos box about 10 minutes and just close, with out any information.
to gadjet0: when you remove the camera cable, do you have any troubles to using wifi, my Dopod 818 pro, without camera, the wifi can not turn on

so the best solution for you would be to add the camera back into your device, upgrade then remove it again.
A royal pain and no mistake, but sounds like your best bet chum.

Thanks, I might try adding the camera back this weekend for one last try, did you try it with the camera connected yet?
My WiFi works OK, the only problem I have is that the original WM5 version for the imate allowed the use of the Ctrl+V to paste the WPA key from a note into the password box but the latest version QTEK PDAVIET Temp ROM doesn't allow the paste so I've got to manually type a 63 character alphanumeric password in by hand:mad:
