Q: sd card gets lost
A: I do not know why this is happening. I have 3 differant sd cards 1 - 2 - 4 GB and all of them are working with the 2 GB card I had some wifi concect problems so if you have a problem with sd card please report the size and brand when reporting.

Q: how to change the apps in the cube
A: open cube customizer and select the icon on the cube you want to change.
to change the name edit the grey line
to change what app is launched press the browser icon [..] and find the app you want.
the Params: is for opening a special part of a program
to change icon just press 1 of the 2 icons at the button and brows to the new icon.

Touch Vii had some isues with model id. That meant the Msn did not work. That was the worst aspect for me of vii.
VIII has no typical WM6 bugs as far as i know.

the .brn files are the animation of the cube so if you remove them you'll have no animation of the cube just a black background when changing sides.
and by removing the other stuff you'll get dead links in programs folder

I sugest only to add to the extrom and not remove the apps are there because otherewhice the space would not be used and this gives me more room in the rom itself

it's no trojan it's prob just the way this exe is made up that gives this warning. Clear temp is an app that is programed to delete and clear the temp files and your virus scanners thinks it's a virus.

I am downloading it now. I like touch VII but I was barely making it through the day on a single charge and I was having to do a lot of soft resets because my phone would not hand up while using the BT in the car and trying to end a call either on the phone or the car's end button. Hi, some apps are stored in EXT, so when you try to assign any app, say, hibernate in EXT with cube customizer a dialouge box reading something like "you can only choose a txt file" will pop up^^
if you wanna assign any apps in EXT, please copy the executive files from you PC directly to you ppc^^

1. The original Cube returns
2. By and large it's stable; only hung once so far since the chinese support software Studio KUMA was installed.
3. PhonePad is mulfunctional as someone here had mentioned earlier
4. After installing Chinese support software, Studio KUMA in this case, Cube Customizer crashes (see the screenshot below)

Updated:
1. Ce-star causes no trouble to Cube Customizer, however...
2. hung again right after rebooting the device after installing Ce-star (another software supporting Chinese)
3. screen freeze after rebooting from the hung device (unlinked the device and PC to get it work)
4. hung again while playing with Cube...
5. hung once again right after rebooting the dead device
6. during 30 mins or so(with most of the time typing here), it hung 4 times, and 1 screen freeze....

V8 is a good rom without a doubt, yet it is not so chinese-reader friendly^^"

I do understand that it is meaningless for you rom masters to develop roms in intenst test with any chinese supporting software.
And more, I do understand to make a stable rom supporting chinese is hediously difficult, otherwise M$ had done the job years ago.
I'm sorry for failing to report the issues above in time during the beta period, yet...

Deleting the shortcuts only preventing Cube related apps from loading during the boot....Cube can be activated anytime no matter the shortcuts are deleted or not^^
Edit the regitsry as below will de-activate Cube once and for all..

You can try to overwrite the picture file inside windows directory, find the exact picture you want to change then do the modification with graphic application then put it in the same directory.

Restart the PDA.

To enable scrolling sound, please choose EnableSound instead^^

After i set my network settings using net wizard, every time i try to downlaod the weather it SR my prophet. I have the same problem with touchVII and crystal, but all works fine with Transformer 1.1. Are you maybe using a diff version of home plugin? You can PM me if you want to discuss it further.

It is not a network problem btw as i can browse the web fine using PocketIE and GPRS...

I wan't it simple :) there is an app in tools called reset and it's also in the today launcher. I like it better then pxShutxp and xbutton has only given problems with every version so far and as maxniper sayed batterystatus has the best task manager I know of.

i've fixed it.
the problem was in the HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml file.
The details for my City (Cape Town, South Africa) got a lot of rubish...
I've fixed that file and now it works 100% :)

I haven't checked the whole file though to see if other cities got the same problem

Ok in the mean time i've found something.
If i change the city using touch settings, i get it to work. But, when i select change it tells me "Couldn't read data from XML file \App_Path\WeatherCities.xml"
So i can select a new city but i have to use the online or manual option

I've flashed my JAMin and I'm very satisfied with this Rom.
It's really fast.
alldough i have one problem (that allready happened in VII) whit my SD card.
Sometimes the prophet don't recognize it.
I use tomtom 6.032 with western europe and sometimes after i start it it don't recognize the map.
I have to remove the Sd card and put it on again and problem solved.

Why this is appening?

I thought that, maybe, the problem is whith my sd card but this situation only appens whith VII and VIII (and i've tryed allmost every others WM6 Roms)

I'm not sure I should put it here or on a thread for the customizer itself.
But I suspect it has something to do with the install method (within the ROM).

If on the today screen I select the weather I can select from a list of cities.
I do not choose one.
I start cube customizer and open the weather tab.
Under the empty "Your location" box, I click the "Change" button.
I get the error:
"Couldn't read data from XML file \App_Path\WeatherCities.xml"
After OK the select location screen appears without cities to select.
I can cancel; if I try to save instead, I get a big error message with a NullReferenceException and the customizer crashes.
It apparently also happens when I do first select a city in the today screen plugin.

I keyed in the settings according to the voip provider (voipcheap) but it still shows 'no service' in the today screen. Any idea how to get it work?

OK some month ago I found the cap called "VM6VoIP" so let's try.
And yes ---- NOW VoIP is working on my Prophet.
You can still use the build-in setup program, but you need install the mentioned cap to get it really working.

VoIP still has the problem with sound going through the speaker instead of the headset.
Has anyone found a solution for this??????
For bluetooth headset we can use fx. the program Bluetooth_Audio_Router - Pay prog $$$$.
We need something better, any solution welcome.

And I have a little problem with the cube, the animation doesn't play well, instead of seeing the cube rotating, it stops and the next side of the screen appears. Is there any way of solving it?

Restart the whole process again. MAke sure you unplugg usb before trying to flash 2nd step. It is also good to make a hard reset while you are still in wm5 (step 1) then connect usb, wait for activesync to turn green and flash touch Viii

The new Touch rom is great, thanks for the hard work. I would like to assign Mortplayer using the "Cube Customizer" to the music icon on the cube. Each time I try to assign a link to Mortplayer, I get the WinMedia Player instead, even though the link still shows Mortplayer. I successfully changed the photo icon to RescoPhoto, and the video icon to CorePlayer. I was able to reassign the Internet Explorer icon to Mortplayer, so it must be a problem with the music icon in particular.

Now i´ve got the time to flash your new rom. It´s exciting, fast, wifi connects faster than ever, without hanging, Bluetooth is fast for incoming files. But i cannot send files to other devices...example: I see my pc in the list and want to beam, it shows always "pending", but after a while it shows"Failed" In the list of the com-ports is all empty and i can´t add a new connection. What have i done wrong? New comm manager is okay, the one before was also good. The rom is fast, about the cam i have one question: What´s better...the software in this rom or your cab in 4 shared (4...)?
All around i can say, that this is a very good rom, and at this time i found nothing other to ask than the two questions before.

P.S.: In the afternoon after so many weeks of bugfree working with prophet VII my device stood still, and i have to do a hardreset...but no help. It was the right time, that your new rom is coming out :-)

It is REALLY a matter of making a proper HARD Reset. It has been written all over the forum how to do this. Try the WIKI's I've posted it there on several places.

If you still have this problem, then you simply didn't perform HR the right way

TIP: this easiest way is Settings=>System=>Clear Storage: 1234 + YES

I'm not sure I should put it here or on a thread for the customizer itself.
But I suspect it has something to do with the install method (within the ROM).

If on the today screen I select the weather I can select from a list of cities.
I do not choose one.
I start cube customizer and open the weather tab.
Under the empty "Your location" box, I click the "Change" button.
I get the error:
"Couldn't read data from XML file \App_Path\WeatherCities.xml"
After OK the select location screen appears without cities to select.
I can cancel; if I try to save instead, I get a big error message with a NullReferenceException and the customizer crashes.
It apparently also happens when I do first select a city in the today screen plugin.

I think its an incompatiblity between vc 1.6 and wm6...because this problem is in all wm6 roms..its wierd that microsoft does'nt publish a new version of vc

First of all many thanks to Gullum, then 1 question:
yesterday I installed Touch VIII, before I had Touch VII: it seems that there is no add on program installed: Superbright, Free up Ram etc... . In fact, in today's HTC launcher there are folders image instead of program's icons, and if you tap on it, it happens nothing.
I repeat upgrade procedure to Touch VIII twice, I hard reset at the end, but it's always the same.

For me it is a bug because the "display account picker when opening messaging" is selected but still if I use the shorcut on the home screen it sends me to the MMS mailbox.

If I go Start->Messaging then I get the correct 'account picker' screen. So it seems that the shortcut on the home screen is not correct

alldough i have one problem (that allready happened in VII) whit my SD card.
Sometimes the prophet don't recognize it.
I use tomtom 6.032 with western europe and sometimes after i start it it don't recognize the map.
I have to remove the Sd card and put it on again and problem solved.

Why this is appening?

I thought that, maybe, the problem is whith my sd card but this situation only appens whith VII and VIII (and i've tryed allmost every others WM6 Roms)

he means that sd card keeps disappearing.... the memory of sd card is shown full and the folders are there but empty...i actually have the same problem and had with the touch VII also ( never had in other roms..) but you can have your sd back for 10 or 15 mins after removing and putting again in to slot...need a solution thank you.

I too find it annoying as I don't use MMS... What I've found is that once I install Windows Live and configure my hotmail, pressing HOME>MESSAGING would stay on the last accessed inbox, which of course is Outlook. Hope it helps.

I updated as normal and everything went ok.. but on the final reset that you are supossed to do when finished, I think i messed it up! I held in the 2 side buttons and pressed the softkey but then it asked me something and I pressed the green button and it formatted the device and reboot.. it blinks the HTC screen and the computer recognises it and makes a sound then it just hangs on the blue Qtek screen now and does not sync or anything :( the computer doesnt know its there as soon as the qtek screen appears.. I cant flash the aKU 2.2 on it again or anything anymore! what do i do?? please help guys!

You must do a soft reset for changes to take effect but use the reset from launcher in homeplug og go to tools folder

and change the name in the grey line not the params:

i've flashed gullum VIII twice. having this issue but not sure whether i am the only one facing it.

In Remove Programs, I have 0 item. And in Start-> Programs, various folders have programs that unable to run. I suspect there is something wrong with the ExtRom. Any chance to run the Autorun in ExtROM? For your info, I did Clear Storage and still the same result.

There is one thing i've found: Phone Pad isn't working. I can't change the Phone Pad options in settings too, I get the message: "The selected input method could not be loaded".

Same for me...in the customizer it shows the mort player, but it opens media player... i looked in the registry, there was the right path displayed in HKLM/Software/HTC/Media Hub Mini...don´t know the reason.

Through the HHC app, all I get is HTC Home Plugin is not installed, and when I try to overwite the graphics files, I get access denied. What am I not doing? I tried the Cube customizer and you're right, whatever I try, I'm always stuck with the WMP. As for sending files, I was able to send a .mp3 file to my PC without any problems via the 'Beam file...' function.

Oh, and I have no 'wifiinit' in the Startup either.

In the registry, I think I found the created email account, but it doesn't shows up under Messages...hmmmm

The volume slider can be set to maximum or minimum, it doesn't really change the volume though and while talking, the volume is so loud, that the speaker is cracking sometimes...

Does anybody knows a workaround? I'll try to hard reset again...hope this will help.

Well, you could try changing the REG. There is some talk about it here:

This is actually for the opposite problem, but changing the values should solve your issue as well. (I think, I haven't tried this personally) I like having a loud speaker anyway, and the original settings from my vender ROM were way too low.

At PT VIII. I set a password and have installed some programs, after this I made a soft reset and my PDA requiered my pass. So , I gave it, but it says it's wrong! I'm using it for more then a year, so I'm pretty sure the code was correct.

So, I did a downgrade to PT VII.
In PT VII. and in VIII. I've a same problem. I can not sync (4.5 AS) with my outlook (2002), therefore I don't have any contacts... I've tried to save a new one and it starts well, but after a half second it stops. Why?

What is the matter? Can you help me?

Confirmed !!! VIII is still operating @ 5% of battery ......... but, may drain more fast..... I had BT on, wifi on, internet accessing, button mapping, ......

for all having battery drainning problems try unninstalling HTC camera 4.11. I had it and in 3 hours drained from 100% to 67%, unninstalled it and it became stable - almost 14 hours latter went from 67% to 42% (acceptable)

Everything else working perfect ( except for a minor glitch that sometimes happens with Cube and sometimes becomes slow momentarily )

Don´t know, what´s happened, but after one day the battery drain is getting normal. Over night only 2% and by using also in the way of prophet VII. Maybe, it depends to bluetooth, because i tried before often, to send files. This bug i can´t solve...i´m not able to do this.The new Rom Settings -File is good. Now i need only a help for bluetooth and for custom media hub...there is no way to change the default media player.

callfirewall doesn´t run. an error appears: file or assembly name microsoft.windowsmobile.pocketoutlook, version=1.0.0.0, culture=neutral,publickeytoken=........... or on of its dependencies, was not found.

then i push quit and another error appears: .net cf initialization error
the application failed to load required compenents......


device manager doesn´t run: the file devmgmt cannot be opened. either is not signed with a trusted certificate ore one of its components cannot be found.

another error: when i push at gprs-settings in settings/connections, only two circles appear and no characters.

Now i need only a help for bluetooth and for custom media hub...there is no way to change the default media player.
I've had the same problem with the Media hub. I made a temporary fix by assigning my preferred audio player (MortPlayer) to the media hub "Video" icon and changed the name of it to "Music". Then I Changed the text on the "Music" icon to "Video" and assigned it to WmediaPlayer. I had to sacrifice my CorePlayer icon to the Program icon list in the HomePlug. Ok, it is true that the icons are wrong, but I know which one to push :-)

Battery drain depends on bluetooth/ beam. If i turn bluetooth on, it goes less in a few minutes, if it´s off, in normal way.

I solved the problem with the 6-button media hub...now here´s my first own hub...only with games. I know...it must get better..:-)

EDIT : my overnight report is not bad last night i left it at 71% and this morning it was 65% in 8 hours touch VII seems to consume same .

i checked it now on wm5 too its 4-5 % over night just 1% less than touch VII or VIII ,these observations are done when handset is left at one place untouched for 8 hours.

This is by far the best rom I have downloaded(I've downloaded 4 of your roms). Touch VII was also good but it drained my battery more than usual. My medical programs load fast and well. It is greatly appreciated. I show it off to people and they think I just got the Iphone. Specially when I show them the program icontactv.3 which scrolls contacts like the Iphone. Duh!! the qtek is much thicker than the Iphone. Great work dude. :)

I highly recommend downgrading to WM5 first and then to Touch VIII. I tried working around it and not downgrading, I end up having major issues and spending hours trying to upgrade again. It only takes a few minutes to downgrade and another few minutes to upgrade to VIII.

great rom so far :-).

There is one thing i've found: Phone Pad isn't working. I can't change the Phone Pad options in settings too, I get the message: "The selected input method could not be loaded".

Does someone else has this problem too?

yes.. i have the same problem with you.. i can't use phone pad.. when i use camera themes it say that the selected picture theme template is missing or invalid.. otherwise touch VIII is very good and stable.. the battery draining is very well..

when I connect my bluetooth handsfree, I write the passkey and all works good, but after a soft reset I have to put the passkey again.

It happens the same with the external GPS receiver.

I installed this wonderful ROM two days ago and everything worked fine until I used the Network Wizard applet to configure network setting according to my GSM operator (Italy, TIM).
I don't know how, but it corrupted Media Player 10 installation.
It's now unable to find the default skin (in the Extended ROM, AFAIK) and on-screen controls (Play, Rewind, FForward, Mute, etc.) are not working.
I can only play files through the menu options.

Even stranger, hard resetting didn't fix this issue, I had to flash the ROM again (WM6 -> WM5 -> WM6)!
It happened twice already, so I'm not going to run Network Wizard again.

Anybody else?

sorry guys for my lame, ive got it! earlier i was trying to turn flo-shell by moving finger from bottom to top... and now from top to bottom, and it works! great )

also ive found musthave keyboard for flo-like device using, it looks like iphone kboard, highlighting the letter that you just trying to type, bu typing it onlyu when you unhold your finger from the screen... so you just need to put tha finga on da screen and select the letter, then move it off and the letter is typed!! absolutley amazing, nu fckin stylus anymore to write sms, only fingaz like on iphone =)))

You have to install a quick program called sip change and choose the keyboard. You also have to go to settings--input--pcm keyboard. Otherwise it will disappear after you exit.

Hi,

Some posts ago, someone asked about how to stop mail accounts from disappearing after a soft reset.

I found a programme called mailAccountRepair that fixes this. Please find it attached.

It is just an .exe file. Save it onto your Prophet and run it once. Enter all your account settings and then select "3 - Repair" Also select options "Auto repair on soft reset".

It works for me.

the .brn files are the animation of the cube so if you remove them you'll have no animation of the cube just a black background when changing sides.
and by removing the other stuff you'll get dead links in programs folder

I'm having some problem with the Extended_ROM, I guess.
Suddenly the Media Player cannot find the default portrait skin (AFAIK should be \Extended_ROM\wmp_WPC_Player_Portrait.skn).
I thought it happened after running the Network Wizard, as I wrote in another post, but it happened again last night and I didn't run that applet this time... It must be something else.
The only way to fix this issue was either reflashing VIII (WM6->WM5->WM6) or copying MP skins to /Program Files/Windows Media Player/.

What could it be?

why suddenly my phrophet can't vibrate although my phrophet battery 52% but after i charge my phrophet until 90% it can vibrate again .. besides that, before this problem ,the battery draining is very good but after this problem the batter draining become bad .. what happened with my phrophet ? altough i upgrade my phrophet to wm5 again but that problem still .. can anyone help me plz ? suddenly vibrate and suddenly it can't vibrate ... what about my prophet ?

Dear Gullum, after trying your TouchVII as my first flashed ROM I knew I had to use VIII! Stable and fast and all working fine!

BT bug seems solved, excellent work, again!

I only would love two wonderful regsettings from your previous ROM,
1. the clearing of recent programs after reboot
2 the flashing BT light when charging, mis it a lot in car.(BT carkit)

And perhaps something for a lower in call volume?(yes, I used search and tried a reg change but no effect), I slide the volume down, but it doesnt seem to work...

Overall an excellent ROM!!!! Perhaps you could sell it to HTC? :-)

my phrophet become very strange... suddenly it won't to vibrate and suddenly it want to vibrate.. when i tried to phone my phrophet with another phone , the battery draining become very bad... i saw in the batterystatus that my phrophet spend 500-600 mA when i wanna try the vibrating phone.. . thx b4.. after that i tried to flash my rom to wm5 but the problem appeared too.. the problem didn't solve.. but after i charge and waiting for a moment suddenly it want to vibrate again but the battery was draining very quickly... i was very surprised.. i am very dizzy now with my phrophet..

i have the motoralo hs-850 and normaly when i push the button the voice speed does start and i say the name (wm5), but now nothing works, i can connect the headset but voice speed not work.

I've got another problem. Activesync gives me a warning that I dont have enough free space at my device. I can't even sync my contacts. But there is over 20Mb free space @ my S200. When I click the "Contacts" button, nothing happens. I also can't add any new contacts :(

hard reset your phone after flashing WM6 AND don't restore previous backups(or restore with Sprite backup and "ROM UPDATE" option)

Did you delete something from the extended rom?
At th 1st page Gullum recommended just to add files to the extended rom, but not to delete.

Just to say that im loving VIII, seems fast and stable.
The only issue im having is that whenever i soft-reset the phone, my wifi and exchange/activesync passwords seem to get forgotten and i have to re-enter them again.

i used VIII and i found that:

the 2nd sound when press start/settings or prog. not found

the htc customizer (prog modify appearance of htc home plugin) not work with htc plugin in the rom

if you put abattery indicator like that of pocket plus it will be better than battery status

for arab users can you replace net work wizard with that one (http://www.mr-s3oodi.com/Nofa/mms-jamin/mobile4arab.rar)

there is another thing in camera (picture theme not work) no tempelates

is there any prog to make themes for wm6

no hangup found, no reset needed, no memory dump, nothig! great job!

for sure the best ROM i've installed on my prophet.


just for question why when i look into wisbarlite->runningprograms i found many duplicates?
and is normal a battery drain about 140mA when with VI it was at the same conditions about 80mA?

Just Flash Touch IX and everything will be fine :)

I think the battery drain problem relates to using GPRS. I had my pushmail turned on and noticed that the battery drained very quickly. The battery status plug-in allows you to see the battery drain. It goes up to around 300 mA when sending/recieving mail via Pushmail.

also i, i've shutted down all connections but battery status say a 140-160mA of battery drain! wih my VI it was only 80-90mA!
