[UPDATED 27/OCT/07] Olioaglio's German SuperStorage 3.54b (1.02) based on Schaps 3.54

Hi

As I guess there might be some more pe people like me interested in any superstorage german rom
and as there were none around I decided to give it a try.

It was built with Hyper Core Kitchen by merging
Schap's German 3.54b Lite and bepes 3.60 superstorage base rom
and fixing and adding some tweaks.

OK, so I created my first ROM and it offers (above 70MB storage)
and it seems to work without major issues and it is finally german
which is the main reason for me to dig into cooking for myself.

So please feel free to flash and have the opportunity to have
a german superlite superstorage ROM. This is an OS only ROM.
Please let the device do the customization after booting first time,
as it adds the tweaks to the registry and offer black theme based on Schaps.

As of 15-Oct-07 there's also a "Pro" version with only the minor difference,
that the Schen's Kaiser 3G Dialer is cooked in instead of the stock one.
In the feature list the difference is marked Magenta

As of 27-Oct-07 there's also a "Pro Home" version with is the Pro version + cooked in HTC Home 1.5 and Audio Manager 1.2
both in German language.
In the feature list the difference is marked Green

to Shamanix for helping me getting into this, bepe for his great work on patching the roms,
claymen for hosting the files, Schap's for his great work with translating the rom and build
the perfect base and finally anichillus for the great kitchen.

thanks for being so kind to test. Since there's really no danger
to brick your device, it's hardly to believe that no one dares...
Maybe there's simply no need for a german rom based on the
"old" 3.54... Who knows ;)

OK, so, no special applications needed. Just play around and
test and use. I love to install Touch like tools like Schens
3G Dialer, Schens colored HTC Home 2.0 (you have to rename
the language related files from 0409 to 0407 for proper function)
Schens Kaiser Comm Manager with 3G, PocketCM and PCMkeyboard,
Resco Explorer... the usual must have apps, you know.

Please report if you experience problems or even better, if not :D

Hi Olioaglio,
I have flashed your rom yesterday evening, loaded it with all apps that I had at hand, changed Comm Manager, MMS and a lot of other stuff.
Though there was, of course, a little slowdown once the device was packed, there are no major problems to report.

Everything, with one exception, is running smoothly with about 50 MB Storage and 20 MB program memory.

The one bug is, that once the backlight is turned off by the timeout, ith stays out for good and has to be reset to the previous value manually in the settings.
I have for now turned the timeout off which is a sensible workaround sice everything else is really pleasing.

A nice and well appreciated piece of work you have produced there.

Hi Olio,

flashed your ROM 2 hours ago. I changed the pagepool to 4mb, because my last Schaps Rom runned with 6mb and i want to test the difference.

I like the superstorage version with only the very basic apps.

Installed some apps (S2U2, Alarmclock, NetFront) and changed some personal settings. Very fast and no issues so far, but I can confirm the backlight issue. Same problem here. I have no idea yet for a fix.

Since I am not such an experienced rom cooker and since Schaps seems
to be (finally) back to go with new roms asking for suggestions in another
thread he opened, I don't think I will develop more rom versions.

For the moment I am glad with my 3.54b Lite version (62MB storage).
I would be happy if I could use the Superstorage XL version for myself,
but as it seems, me Extended Storage area seems currupted :(

So I will wait for maybe localized new versions from Schaps the master
and see what comez.

Hope my versions stays as stable for you as it does ATM.

Have you ever tried to flash the original HTC WM6 Rom including extrom? Maybe this can fix your problem. If its fixed you can flash every other Rom again. If not you can try one the "fix bad blocks" methods.

Very interesting. According to your hint I digged in and found
with mtty that I had 3 Bad Blocks (info 8) on my device which

Hi,

I did a little research and found the culprit of the backlight issue ;)
It's a simlpe registry entry for backlight which can be easily corrected
with any registry editor. :rolleyes:

Set following key to Value 1 (is set to 0 in my rom)
HKCU\ControlPanel\Backlight\BacklightOnTap

This solves the issue. Sorry for the inconveniences :o

Concerning the backlight issue: I already went back to Edhaas Rom so I can't test it. Does the registry keep this value? Because I noticed a strange behavior. I flashed Edhaas 4 MB PP, installed all my programs and made a backup with Sktools. Then I flashed Edhaas 6 MB PP Rom (same Rom except the PP) and restored the backup. Everything s running fine beside the backlight battery timeout setting. Also the value in the registry is set to 30 seconds its timing out after 7 to 10 seconds AND if I turn off the device or do a soft reset its changed to 7 or 10 seconds. It happened again after testing your rom and going back to Edhaas. By mistake I flashed the wrong PP version and voila - time out problems again. Obviously something went wrong during restoring but until now I couldn't find which registry is changing this value. I hope I'll have time enough in the next weeks to compare the registry before and after the backup.

Anyway. I guess now you will not stop developing roms? If you need somebody for testing alpha and beta stages I'm prepared to support you :D

The bug you describe with the 10 second light off is another one not
related to "my" bad key. I am not aware how to fix the one you have,
though i didn't had such problem yet. But I heared of it. According to
mtty my bad blocks are fixed. The random freezes unfortunately still
there. Flashing sakajati HC360pro with superstorage now to crosscheck.

I am now one day on your ROM. The Fix for the backlight issue worked fine.

Yesterday evening I installed more apps Kaiser CommManager 10B, TomTom 6.10, Voice Command, NetFront and one of my own. Everything is working great, and still much space left. No problems here. I will stick with it ;).

As the others told you, I would be glad to see you continue your ROM even if Schaps is back. Schaps does not offer a Superstorage Version with as less as possible applications preinstalled and in german! Keep your hand on it.

Have just uploaded new 1.02 versions of the German 3.54b XL rom ;)

a "lite" version which is as you already know with some minor bug fixes.
a "pro" version which is the same as lite but with Schens Kaiser 3G Dialer instead of stock dialer

Then I have produced a big storage rom (German 3.54b L) which has
still lot of storage (63.35MB, 60.30MB free) but with normal Extended ROM,
as usual ROMS (NOT superstorage with melted Ext_ROM).
This is also available as "lite" and "pro" version with details as before.
The German 3.54b L bigstorage rom will be released in an own thread
as by tomorrow. Also based on Schap's 3.54b Lite german.

I will update the download links ASAP.

the reg fix also worked here making your rom perfect for my needs. Thank you for accomplishing those variations of Schap's already great foundadion I had unsuccessfully been attempting now and then since bepe's merge solution came around!

Your Rom is the recordholder for staying on my Hermes already, having experimented with all the different flavours and looks recently around. Not saying the others were bad, but your's certainly fits all my needs and comes in German as a bonus.

I'd hate to see you quit altogether but judgeing from my own experience could perfectly understand it if you needed some productivity left in other aspects of life. ;-)
I have certainly gained from your work in this respect and I am sure my employer will second that!

Really strange.
The XL-ROM doesn't have Advanced Config installed too, but yesterday i got an Error message "Advanced Configuration exe not signed or ....".
Strange, Advanced Config wasn't installed at this moment.
Then i installed Advanced Cofig and made some settings (Unchecked Show Extrom) and i got a white screen on boot.
Softreset again and worked again. Strange.
Except this everything working great.

Did not do this do keep the ROM as clean as possible. You can add
eerything you need by install as cab. Also HTC Home and Audio Manager
is available as cab. Some modifications after install are neccessary to
get them run as they are WWE versions. Let me know if you have problems.

Im in noooo way at all trying to tell you what to do, and you likely already took this into consideration, I just wanted to let you know, that it seems they are still monitoring download sources for these ROM's, incase you didnt know.

You could cook in the german 1.5 version from the Schaps 3.54b rom,
but I prefer the latest Home 2.0 (as it is latest :D ) and this one is only
available in english. But whats the problem? That few words HTC Home
contains is really no problem to live with. Maybe, when I have loooots of
time I will cook the rom with 1.5 german home in especially for you :rolleyes:

hmmm, interesting, this error with unsigned file.

Your cab will override the cooked in Audiomanager with
the installed one, but it will also use another 730kb of
precious rom space. So, if possible, would you please
uninstall the cab again and instead just copy the
attached file (unzipped) in the windows dir and
see if it works also, after doing so.
If not you could also install the cab again.

of the Olioaglio 3.54b XL Pro version with cooked in german Home and (working) Audiomanager

Bug from post +45 should be fixed with this version,
so the cooked in AudioManager should work out of the box now.

ok I installed it now and audio manager works and its german. only one little thing, if I use HTC home with funktion "Musikplayer starten" windows mediaplayer gets started? For me its no problem because I'll not use HTC Home.

Glad to hear that Audiomanager works with this version.

For the start of Player through the HTC Home Musikplayer function,
thats normal. You can decide by Registry tweak, whether it starts
WMP or Audiomanager. See below.

for the HTC Home-plugin you can change this regkey (or use Home Customizer):

HKLM\Software\HTC\Music Plug-in
Change the key MusicPlayer from 1 (=WMP) to 2 (=HTC AudioManager)
After disabling / re-enabling HTC Home (or softreset) it should work.

Really strange.
The XL-ROM doesn't have Advanced Config installed too, but yesterday i got an Error message "Advanced Configuration exe not signed or ....".
Strange, Advanced Config wasn't installed at this moment.
Then i installed Advanced Cofig and made some settings (Unchecked Show Extrom) and i got a white screen on boot.
Softreset again and worked again. Strange.
Except this everything working great.

How can i use the Advanced Config in your ROM? Where can I find it? Is it lokated in the ExtRom or do I have to install it manually? Does it work now or is there still the white screen on boot? Thanks!

Advanced Config 1.0 isn't cooked in the ROM.
You can download it HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=48967&d=1188715091)

There were never any problems with white screen at boot, unless you try
to unlock or modify Extended ROM option e.g. with Advanced Config
in a Ext_Rom melted in SuperStorage ROM!!! NEVER try to lock, unlock
or modify Ext_ROM options in a SuperStorage ROM, otherwise you get
HUGE problems. Simply keep fingers away from Ext_ROM options in any
tools like Advanced Config!!

I installed advanced config additionally from http://www.parkingdenied.com/filebrowser/Hermes there you can find it below "addins" and it works fine. Thanx to claymen who runs this service!

@olioaglio I use the rom now for a few days and it works without any problems. HTC Home Music player works now also with changing the reg.

Don't know what you mean by "later version" but regardless of that
there will nothing happen.
ACT (whatever version) does nothing special but setting some modified
registry values. If you uninstall it, the values remain.
No other critical issues in ACT1.0 besides the Ext_Rom options AFAIK.
Use it for myself.

No problem with ACT occured so far, except the Extended ROM options
which MUST NOT be used in a SuperStorage ROM.

First off - i want to thank you for your ROM... i used a plenty of ROMs but yours turned out to be the best (speed, stablility, Applications) for my Hermes.

I have just 2 questions:

o I turned over to a Kaiser now which seems to have the annoying 3sec delay problem... can you tell me how you applied the fix in your ROM for Hermes?

o From where did you get those great battery icons in your ROM?

habe meinen "TiTAN" mit deiner "HomePro"-Version geflasht und muss sagen GENIAL!. :) Super viel Speicherplatz und SUPERSCHNELL! Ich war echt überrascht welchen Speed die alte Kiste doch drauf hat. So ne Herz-OP ist ne echte Verjüngungskur .

Aufgefallen ist mir folgendes - ich kann leider nicht sagen ob es ein Bug oder ein Feature ist - Die "Löschen-Taste" in der virtuellen Tastatur hat keine Funktion :confused: - hätte ich aber gerne... - macht das Leben einfach leichter. Ist das über die Registry zu regeln oder muss das Rom geändert werden?

Ansonsten alles Super - war übrigens meine erste Flash-Aktion - bin total begeistert.

nein, kein Bug in dieser Richtung bekannt :confused:
Die Taste funzt einwandfrei bei mir. Also auch kein Fix auf Lager...

Mach mal einen Hardreset, vielleicht ist es nur ein Verschlucker :rolleyes:

Ansonsten, ich würde dir eh noch so geile Tools wie PocketCM
und PCM Keyboard empfehlen, das hat ne eigene (größere)
virtuelle Tastatur und ist vieeeeel besser als das MS keyboard.

Der Autor dieser tools ist tene. Schaus dir mal an!!

Von HTC gibt es auch ein super keyboard hier im Forum.
Das HTC Touch Dual keyboard.

In the meantime I sold my TyTN and switched over to Polaris (Orbit 2).
Hope it's soon possible to cook own roms on this devices, too!!

I had really really good exerperiences with these ROM, it was the fastet ROM I ever used (even faster then Pays)... Also it worked like a charm with SPB Products (I had Mobile Shell, PocketPlus, Diary, Phone Suite, Wheater and Time)! And it was still very fast...

I am now at Pays Rom, it is also quite fast, it has aloads of more nice extra stuff although I dont use some things... But it seems that Pays Rom is not that compatible with SPB... It slows the device really down if you install SPB Products on PAys rom in my opinion...

McTell, thank you very much for your opinion!! :) Especially for the experience with the SPB-products, because I'll use the new SPB Mobile Shell at the end of february.
Maybe the best solution is to cook my own rom, the second time... with those rom kitchens it's quite easy. :)

Yes, I have a annoying problem but i don't think its caused by the rom. Since I use vista ultimate 64bit and the crazy Mobile Device Center (with the latest updates) it deletes sometimes all contacts or calender entries on my smartphone. This makes me very angry espacially when I had new contacts on my phone.:mad::confused:
And a further sync doesn't help, you have to delete the partnership with the phone and than, with a new partnership it works:confused:.
But until today, a lot of work prevented me to look for a solution but i'm sure i can fix this.

However the ROM is fast and stable since October 2007, very good work!!!
Additionally I use slovoED 6.1 for English and Spanish, with a really good performance and allot of SPB programs. Really good tools (SPB Pocket Plus, SPB Diary, SPB Backup, SPB Time and SPB Weather) and of course skype.

I have an additional question what is about updates for wm6, are they useful, how can i make them? Because Schaps always updates the rom, and usually it is highly recommended to have a up to date system?

Hi I just flashed my Hermes from original HTC WM6 ROM to Olioaglio's Hermes 3.54b German SuperStorage ROM (1.02). It works fine. But everythnig seems to be slower. Not the programms themself. Its about starting them.

Maybe someone can help me out. There arent really that much german ROMs here...

Sorry thats not possible. HTC Home size is hardcoded in dll
