Holding down end, doesn't lock device

I have the AT&T rom. Holding down the red end button, and then pressing power does not seem to lock the device?

How exactly should this be performed and does it work on this rom?

Someone else posted it doesn't work, I am sure it is only a matter of time until there is a fix

I am not on AT&T but i hold the red phone for about 4-5 seconds and it locks (no power button) might be worth a try.
