I just realized that my battery life kinda sucks. I'm down to one day with moderate use.

Had a full charge about 7am, brightness is one from lowest setting, used Live search for about 10min at lunch and IE at the same time, listened to the radio for about an hour, made 3 phone calls for a total of about 25min worth of talk time - 2 of which were using BT (only had BT on when I was in the car). I'm home now and I'm at 33%.

Maybe it was the radio. Other than that, the phones been sitting for most of the day. How about others?

Thanx for the link. I missed that post. I guess I just run USPL first, then this? My last ROM upgrade had the USPL prog included in it. Is there a link for just the USPL or do I need to run that at all?

If your spl is 1.11.0000 you don't need to run it again.

Thanx but I just ran SPL anyway, and updated the radio. Everything went well.

After running USPL, I had the problem again with the slow scrolling that I posted about before. Everthing was just running really slow. Then, after I upgraded the radio, it was fast again. (I have no idea why this happens) THen I turned on the phone and TomTom (without Quick GPS) and got 3 to 4 sats in my house for the first time in like 1min. That was the fastest ever. Does this radio version improve GPS as well or is this just a coincidence? However, I'm just happy that I don't have to hard reset again. Will test the battery life tomorrow. Thanx.

BTW: Where do you look to see the SPL version on the phone?

Maybe a coincidence - spl on first splash screen

I haven't noticed any differences. My radio version is 2.98.90, I don't know if it was that to start with or it came with the B&B 4.2 upgrade. I get about 1.5 days with moderate to heavy use, and just about 2 days max.

hi guys!

Same problem with Battery life on Artemis with WM6!

with WM5, i sure got 2-3 days. and now its just upto one day. By evening my battery is down to 15-30%.

I have tried draining the battery completely and then charging it all night, but this doesnt improve battery life either.

I am using Radio 2.98.90

Hello,

my radio version is 2.98.90 too, and at home, I haven't a really good GSM-receipt (I hope, you'll understand me, my English is terrible). That's the reason why my battery time is really short. Try to disable the GSM and look, if your runtime is much longer.

Hi Guys, my battery is running fine, around 3 days but if i enable battery status to the today screen, it starts to eat the battery like hell, any ideas ?

Looks like my battery life has improved a little. After 8hrs of medium use, I still had 69% batt life. Pretty good. But I also have to report two incidences where I could not answer a call or make a call- reset needed. Got a message saying that the signal may not be avail and I had a full signal?! This has never happened before this radio upgrade. Any reports of this from others?

Other than that, everything else seems fine. May try to reflash later on if I still have this problem, but if it still persists, I'll look for another radio. Not being able to answer calls is a real PIA in business if you know what I mean.

so what is the verdict here? i had a mda compact 2 and the bateyr lasted 5-6 days of FULL use

i upgraded to mda compact 3 and stragight away put wm6 cooked roms on it - ive tried most of them on here including the official wm6 - all seem to only give me about a day batteyr life????

something cant be right here? after half a day im down to 47% odd
Phones should surely last 2/3 days? especially a Mda/Pda???

what is it that drains a battery? is it the programs running, installed ????

ive just installed wm5 again to see if its any better, could i have possibly burnt out my batteyr by cooking so many Roms on it??

someone help as this is driving me crazy!

I'm still testing but so far, after upgrading my radio to 2.98.90, I'm at 74% by the end of the day with moderate use. I'm trying to keep the same ROM and not hard reset for a while to see if it improves more (I like to drain the battery to the end and then recharge) . So, I'm at like 2 days with the new radio. This is sufficient for me since I keep a charger around anyway.

Battery life ist around 6-8 days!

Plain WM6 (from o2) firmware with BatteryStatus, Calendar+ on today screen. Bluetooth and WLAN off, some SMS a week, around 5-10 minutes telephone calls a week. Using calendar and contacts regularly some times a day. Using Tomeraider, iSilo, Mobipocket, TomTom/NoniGPSPlot, etc. some times a week. No other system utilities beside BatteryStatus installed!

Surfing over WLAN: battery is empty after 2-3 hours.

I have no problems :-)

Regards,
Manuel

PS: Background light is faulty since last week: background light is completely off on setting 1+2, sometimes even on setting 3, and it flickers permanently. Xda Orbit goes back to o2 next week.

Hi,

if you have a battery drain problem you should check your programs first. There are some which really cause high consumption in the background...

so anyone complaining should list his installed progs!

well i had the standard:

vanilla
official wm6
o2 wm6
touch 2.1
touch 2.1 lite

no added programs, and i always (almost every 2 hours used hibernate and closed running apps via task manager)

all gave me nasty drain, i think its the wm6 os, cos ive downgraded to wm5 and added the programs i like and its 50% left on day 2! im just puzzled cos the batteyr life should be much better even if theres nothign wrong with wm6 or my battery or running programs

WOW! What are you over clocked at? 400Mhz? Just kidding, but I've found that my battery life has improved over time since my last hard reset. It seems to get better. When I was switching ROMs and adding programs and doing hard resets and restores, my battery life sucked. But since I've just been enjoying the ROM the way it is, I get like 2 full days of normal use. Hour of phone use, WLS once yesterday, TomTom once yesterday, Excel, Word, some database prog on my storage card(iSilo), and BT on all the time (this was heavy use yesterday) and I talked 30min this morning over BT and I'm overclocked at 247Mhz. I last charged my phone 8am yesterday with no charges in between. I'm now at 31% This will easily last me til the end of the day. To me, this is good compared to what I was getting before. I would have drained it completely yesterday.

The guy that said he's getting 6 to 8 days of use on WM6 should have his phone sent to the administrators or NASA to find out what he's got going on so it can be cloned. I've never achieved that kind of battery life on any WM device.

Don't know who is this guy, but he isn't completely wrong.

If I don't use it too much, at the end of day 4 it still has about the 25% of battery, which means I'll have to recharge it at the end of day 5.

However, by looking at the battery drain when I don't use it at all (GSM on, everything else off, no incoming/outgoing call) I calculated that it can last up to 8/10 days (10-12% drain every 24 hours, with the first day always at 100%). Never left it so much time without recharge, since I often connect it to the PC... but it is worth a try.

A note: I have the official ROM. Never installed USPL or other unofficial firmware upgrade.

With WM5 my maximum was 5-6 days, with WM6 (plain o2 Xda Orbit WM6 update) I get around 7 days, one time I get ~8 days (okok, max. 7,5 days, I think thats enough).

Normally I beginn charging sunday evening (around 9 p.m., battery-level is under 5%) and monday morning I took it off the charger (around 9 a.m.). This works the last 2-3 month. The standby-time is 6,5 days.

Two or three weeks ago I have sunday evening more than 15% battery, so I decided not to charge. Monday evening I have a battery-level under 3% and begin charging -> 7,5 days! I am not joking!

I synchronize my Xda Orbit just once a week, exactly before beginning charging with external charger.

I think I have a perfect trained battery together with a clean system and a very moderate calling/SMS-using a week, thats all.

Manuel

Wow. So do you have any other programs installed?

- BatteryStatus
- Calendar+
- WiFiFoFum
- TomeRaider
- MobiPocket
- iSilo
- KeePassPPC
- SentryCE
- CurrencyConv
- HandyShopper
- FlashFormat
- GSPlayer
- GSFinger+
- NoniGPSPlot
- PPCPimBackup
- SMSDRFix
- TaskMgr
- wm5torage
- TomTom

I am using GPS, WLAN and Bluetooth not very much (some weeks I did not use it at all). If I surf over WLAN, my battery goes down very fast. With a full battery I can use TomTom for around 8 hours or NoniGPSPlot (screen off) for around 12 hours.

So, what I am doing with my Xda Orbit? I use all Outlook PIM-functions (calendar, contacts, etc.) the whole week...

Manuel

My experience with roms is that they are all pretty different.
Let explain.
I was once with aje_fr 1.8 rom and I installed 'battery status' program. Result was that I lost 5% in only 1 hour. I couldn't stand more than 1,5 day with battery.
I then installed aje_fr 1.9 rom which has in-build 'battery status' program.
I now run for 5 days with no problem. Better than when I was on Orange WM5 rom (3 days).

Aje_fr did a tremendous work on his roms. His version 1.9 is excellent.
The only thing is that it is a French rom, sorry for you English 'romees' guys. But I am sure you will find 'THE BEST' rom for you.

So different roms give different result. If you can't have good result with a rom move to another one. Of course, we assume you always have the same use of your phone.

I personally set Update to 15 minutes in battery status.
Radio version is also important. I actually am with 3.07.90. Some radio version drain battery faster than others.

There is no reason for going back to WM5. WM6 is at least as good as WM5.
What you have to do is: find the most suitable WM6 rom regarding battery drain. Check battery drain without added program and add the program you need ! Check settings of programs you added. Remove the program
you added if battery drain too fast again. Add other program if needed and test again.

Some programs are a nightmare for battery. So be slow, check and remove if necessary.

Hi
I run my Xda Orbit from 6 days. Appx. 8 minutes talks a day, 4 sms, weather and GPS update every day.
