Hi

I am using the software dont forget to change the led blinking on my s620. http://magazin.softimage.cz/dontforget/app-description/
it works so far. the led blinks when i received an email. thats what i wanted.

but when i now read the mail, that the led does not stop blinking. i have to run the admin panel once more to reset it.

same on reminders. i miss them and the led blinks. i dismiss them and the led does not turn off. it remains blinking.

i am using htc s620 with wm6 original rom.

anyone knows the problem?

It used to work perfectly on my WM6 HTC WWE ROM, but now on Rogers the same problem. Sometimes it stops blinking when I open the last calls list and when I go trough all the messages, but I know that's not it.

Fortunately, Radim is working on a new version and seems it will be available soon.

If you want to help
Please simulate the behaviour we are talking about (e.g. LED keeps blinking even when all emails are read) and then do an export of following registry branches (incl. all sub-branches) from your device:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\State\
and also
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\SoftImage\DontForget
and send it to me to.

Regards
Radim, author of the DontForget app.

Here you go my frined.

If there's anything I can do more for your app that is vital for my likeness of Dash, please contact me via PM and I will give you my e-mail

Yes.

- please describe what was wrong in the time you did the registry export (hoping you did the export when the app was in such state, you should do the export when e.g. the device is blinking and you already read/saw all missed events )

- And tell me the version of the DontForget you are using (in the About dialog).

Ok, I really dedicated myself on recreating the problem, and found that there is no problem. Actually, there is - because on this ROM LED starts and stops blinking as it should, but starting has a 10 seconds delay, and stopping even longer delay. But in the end, the LED seems stopped eventually; except if I'm wrong, but I will then report back (it seemed to me LED continued to blink for the rest of the day, but I cannot seem to recreate the problem any more...).

Ps. version is 2.01 in the About

snudel

i can reproduce it easily. I receive an email and read it and it does not stop blinking anymore.

i attached my regs in this state:

turned on phone today morning everything was fine. no blinking. i received an email. blinking. read it. blinking remains.

Same problem for me, as soon as i receive an email, the blinking starts and it doesn't blinking stop.

Please try these:
- choose "Test ..." in the Admin and tell me if the LED stopped blinking once the test is finished or not

- are you sure you did the export when the app was in the state we are talking about? You should do the export when e.g. the device is blinking and you already read/saw all missed events i.e. in the state DF behaves wrong.

first the version 2.01

second the notfication window. that doesnt pop up at all after i received an email.

third the test. it does not stop the led blinking after an email is received. just the apply and exit button fixes it.

yes, i exported the settings after i received an email and led was still blinking

Ok, just tell me.
If the device is still blinking (even there is no missed events), how it blinks? Still the same (fast) frequency as during the notification or a bit slower as usualy the device is blinking (e.g. when the option "Slow down LED blinking frequency" is off) ?

snudel
18th October 2007, 12:13 PM
it seems, that it is the usual blinking. and not the faster notification blinking.

hujer
18th October 2007, 01:30 PM
Ok, but you have "Slow down LED blinking frequency" option set to 0(off), right? So it looks DF is not running (or crashed probably).

Please try to enable the option "Show state icon" in the Admin and watch whether the green exclamation-like icon is still shown (on the top near to radio-signal icon, but not on homescreen). This icon should be green. Watch, when the e-mail arrives, if the icon is still there and if it is there once you have read it etc.
Give me a feedback then.

will it change color from green to red or something? i am kind of color blind... :(

The tray-icon (exclamation mark in a square) should normaly be green (red when the notification is disabled).
But most important is whether the icon is still there or not - regardless of the color.

i've got a problem with the Dont Forget software also... it keeps getting shutoff somehow?

I start it, the icon shows up... I exit out of the start menu, and lock my phone... not long later, i see my led flashing, i hit start, and the dontforget icon isn't at the top anymore, so i restart it, and it keeps happening... all this happens when i don't receive any calls or messages also.

I'm using the Rogers WM6 rom, not sure which version of dontforget... I'm testing to see how long it takes to shut off now..

I just reenabled it at 9:54a,

Hi there,

is there anyway to have the software only notify me of new emails from my Outlook/Exchange mail?

I have POP accounts but they tend to have spam etc which i dont read.

So at the moment dontforget is notifying me of new email all the time, until i mark all my profiles as read.

thanks.

thanks alot

btw, my problem was after a short time, DontForget would just shutdown without notifying me or anything, even if i hadn't received any messages/calls... I'd look at my phone, and the LED would be flashing...

Been a couple of hours with the new one, and no problems so far. :)

Woks fine for me. I think that the OP should rename this thread to New Version Of Don't Forget. This thread is not getting the attention it deserves.

Hats off to the developer.:D

hey, a question, does this software or the phone itself allow for you to go automatically in and out of meeting mode as during scheduled calander meetings?

Is this the same version as is listed on dashapps.googlepages.com?

also, a thought, you probably shouldn't refer to visually impaired people as "blinds." it doesn't sound very positive:) though I enjoyed reading about the blinds:)

no probs with the new prog; it does indeed tend to keep blinking after the missed call is viewed, but then I go trough the messaging accounts and it stops blinking. I guess this is the M$' problem where it does not report the state properly.

But, this one seems fine; can't wait that final version is out so I can pay some amount you deserve for your efforts!

I haven't installed this software yet but i shall now but i wish it was free....Oh Well, let me try and see how it works...

EDIT: Beautiful piece of software. Love the functionality but a suggestion and an issue:

Suggestion - For the hardware LED Blinking, is there a way possible for you to program it to blink orange and yellow - back and forth - that would be really cool and actually help differentiate from regular yellow blinking light.

Issue: The alerts are very nice, I'm using the 5th alert but i notice when the sound plays - right before it finishes, the sound crackles with all alerts. Don't know why - maybe you could look into this.

All in all - I love the software and still wish it was free. But i appreciate your hard work and time. Thanks :)

any way to make the LED blink red, so it catches your eye quicker! {{or blink red- orange}}

other than that, works great for me. (ver. 2.1)

I'm afraid I cannot do much with that. As I many times said, all LED options/features are device specific and may not work on all devices correctly.

I notice that the soft takes 4-6% of CPU all the time - can this be lowered?

Which version? For Smartphone or for PocketPC?
My measurements says about 2-3% peek, and below 1% usualy in the PPC version. On Smartphone this can be a bit higher but not so much and definitelly NOT all the time.
Bad measuring technique...?

jsp_m
13th April 2008, 05:35 PM
definetly bad measuring technique - I only look @ cpu load in celetask when I am bored... perhaps not the best in the world ;)

hujer
14th April 2008, 10:15 AM
Maybe I've forgot one thing in the Smartphone version only.
There can be a bit bigger CPU load when the option "Slow down LED blinking frequency (or switch off)" is On.
In this case DF creates one separate thread in which the trick is done - because the LED cannot be simply turned off via API or so (handled on hardware level).
So in the case power/CPU consumption is your priority #1 you should not use this feature and set this option to Off.

Version update 2.63(SP) and 2.03(PPC) released

This update for Smartphones and PocketPCs contains some internal fixes.
Mainly this version fixes the problem with LED and/or Vibration alert on devices which have more than 2 system LED lights defined (like HP iPAQ 614c)
causing the device does not vibrate (or LED-blink) on remiders.

Please also note you can use DontForget application to simply fix the "Amber LED not blinking on Reminders (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=359736)" problem.

DontForget 2.65 for Smartphone released – LED/Vibrations again

This update for Smartphones contains (as usual) some internal fixes and modifications.
No new real feature was added but this version is important for user who have troubles with non-working vibrations or LED during reminder.
Mainly on devices which have more than 2 system LED lights defined.
E.g. on Samsung Blackjack 2 (SGH-i617) you have no vibrations (even the option „Force vibrations“ is on) just a sound on reminders.
