I don't know what it do, you have to try it yourself and see what happens, i have a us keyboard so i don't need it. but they say it works but how i don't know. Try it and you find out. :)

It works the same as in windows xp or vista so you can do it and it will have the layout that you wish.

I think I accidently left the german keyboard driver in (upload already done and I don't want to do it again)

1) I'm not sure if I understand well your question - you can get numeric keypad after you press twice FN button, and vice versa - next twice pressing FN resumes the normal state.

2) FSC Keylock should be there. After reboot you should have a small FSC Keylock icon in the right bottom corner of the screen. Just press it to invoke the settings menu and turn on or off key locking. You can also get there via Settings->Personal->Buttons->FSC KeyLock or starting \Windows\KeyLock1.lnk

3) If you use the old ROM version from the post #583 download a few files from the ZIP archive posted in #714, unpack them and place in \Windows directory. They fix a few known bugs. New ROM version from the post #714 contains these files so no such action is necessary.

I'm afraid I can't help you too much because I don't have any experience with localization of ROMs. What I would suggest you is to try the prescription posted by wm6fsc in the post #385 (see the link in the first post). I was using wm6fsc kitchen (see also the post #1) when preparing my version, so the procedure seems to be quite straightforward. Also there were discussions on this forum a while ago on the Spanish and German versions, so you can likely find some hints there.

Hi,

I think FS stopped supporting this device, but it's OK. In this forum you can download very stable and fast WM6.1 ROMs. There are some small bugs at this moment, but I hope they'll be fixed soon and not affect usability of this great PDA :-)

iGO 2006 used to work on my T830 with the original wm5 rom but it doesn't with any wm6 / wm6.1 rom.

I have no problem to use any GPS navigation software with any ROM...
(tested: iGO2006, Navigon 6.5, AutoMapa 5.05, TomTom 6) I am using iGO2006 and AutoMapa 5.05 every day without problem with WM6.1 ROM from this post:

igo 8 will not work it's only for 320x240 screens and not for 240x240.
I run igo plus without any problem, also i use automapa 5 this one is great for 240x240 and have also 3d buildings.

I did some work in the weekend on this rom, fixed some bugs like bluetooth audio and fixed networking and add some reg settings concerning power usage. i played with it and tested everything and i like it, the rom is stable smooth and fast.
I added schaps tweak utillity i think you like this.
With this utility you can switch keyboard to eng,german and more, take a look @ it. Further you can tweak a lot of settings for performance the way it works for you with your settings and usebility of the set.
Play with it for some day's and let me know what you think and if there are any bugs, as far i can see and tested i am happy with it how it behave and works.

Hi, I installed this ROM from Acubens, I setup my email account (Outlook and also IMAP - download entire message, download all attachments), but I can open attachments from email. If I tap on attachment in message, it says "Cannot display the attachment" But if I save it, I can open.

There is no reason why start using iGO8, the maps are identical like on iGO2006 (I compared maps with my colleagues PDA with iGO8)... Automapa is much better for Eastern Europe region, but it's only my opinion. 3D building are also in Automapa.

If you download the kitchen from powerbyte u can use that, it's 230 build kitchen, i have almost the same with modifications and not ready for upload.
I am not good in explaining and if i put it up for download i have to make a manual and i'm not good @ that. If i think it's ready i wil release the kitchen.

I tried to get the DLL files from my device, but Resco Explorer says that "The Parameter is incorrect". Is there another solution to get these from the device?

1) Copy mdoc.dio into flash card
2) Insert flash card into T830
3) Press and hold
camera button + red button + reset button simultaneusly
Flash update screen will appear
4) Wait 1-2 minutes (until device says "...done")
5) Hard reset T830 (press and hold red button +
reset button, then select "factory default")

-> voilá

Yes he did, two drivers ok but the bluetooth hid he give me is as a module and i want a dll not as a module.

Thanks, i did change all settings also in the post you pointed out, the problem is wm player hangs at startup, if the keyboard works i don't know i get a lot of change things if i use the keyboard (US).
So if anybody have all the reg settings what he tested before with wm6 and that works, please supply it to me so i get it to work on build 230.

I downloaded and installed that ROM using the SD method.

I've installed:
- Resco Explorer
- Spb MobileShell
- Spb PhoneSuite
- Spb Backup
- Spb PocketPlus
- Oxio Memory Manager
- XPocket PDF

There are some issues:
- The phone keyboard on the screen is always green, no matter the theme I use.
- Each 5 seconds (more or less) appears the "busy logo round" in the screen in the Today page. I'm not able to find which process is causing this. Nothing strange appears in the task manager.
- Memory downs to 4-5 Mbs. It stay at that and works more or less normal. But I cannot manage to increase the free memory.

All the rest is working properly (Bluetooth, Camera, 3G Internet connection, GPS, access to share folders via network, wireless, etc...)

This ROM is excellent.
It is as stable as the original WM5 version with better features.

I have run a benchmark on this ROM:

Spb Benchmark index 306.
CPU index 1433.11
File system index 122.02
Graphics index 4756.42

The graphics index is VERY impressive.

Let us wait for an affordable 32GB SDHC...
Thanks to you guys I am not at all excited by the "future" iphone 3G!

There is just one thing that bugs me ;-)
When I am on my bike, listening mp3 with my Moto HT820 A2DP and following tomtom GPS directions, I can answer calls but there is a button on the headset (I think long push on the left button) which should launch voice recognition so that I can ask "what time is it" or things like that. Apparently the mapping between this button and the voice recognition is missing. OK, I can live without it but who knows, a registry edit? ;-)

Features corrected compared to feedback in post #588:
"It is not possible to disconnect data connection in this ROM". The tweak application enables to disconnect a data connection.

Remaining reported bugs:
Reported bugs:
- inbuilt GPS system is not connecting to any satellites (Google maps, GPS tuner, Garmin X). Workaround for Google Maps: configure it manually (9600 on COM6).
- sometimes WiFi auto switches on after a complete shutdown and cannot be turned off without a soft reset. It appears less often.

Also be carferul when replying to MMS: a new MMS will be sent even if only text is transmitted in the reply. Previous versions used to propose sending a SMS instead.

Hey Mirill,

Spb pocketplus causes the 5 sec. problem. Go into settings -> select settings again -> options -> deactivate "Refresh icons in today plug-in when storage card is inserted." then it stops. Maybe your 4-5 MB problem stops too...

Wow! To all you people here, cookers to testers, what a great job!

I just finish reading from first thread, all day long, now i will go to my kitchen and look something to eat :D

Now am thinking to update my T830 to 6.xx. But i'm satisfied with v5, i have all what i need and no problem for now except for that Contact from Sim to Phone is no option? and ofcourse of being the sluggish of this device.

Well, i have to wait, read more, and see for the next comnents.

Now I finally got my mistake: The MDOC.dio file was corrupt, seems like there got some bits upside down in transfer from rapidshare.

I think powerbyte said that it would be best, uploading in a rar archieve with 5% security level to avoid such things.

Yes, all keys are working.


To change the HW-Keyboard to Russian, you will need to put the original WM5 russian MDOC.dio from FSC website in a kitchen and get out the kebddr.dll, keybdsip.dll and the kbdhid.dll as modules. Then you replace the files of the kitchen of the WM 6.1 Rom and build the rom.
I think there was a howto somewhere here in this thread.

Spb pocketplus causes the 5 sec. problem. Go into settings -> select settings again -> options -> deactivate "Refresh icons in today plug-in when storage card is inserted." then it stops. Maybe your 4-5 MB problem stops too...

Another thing: Is it defficult to make my own rom? I want to change my start menu icon, but as far as I know I have to cook a new rom if I want to do that.

I have tried plenty of versions and restored wm5 couple of times to get access to my contacts again.

Each time I migrate to WM6.1 ROM version contacts won't show up again.
When pushing button/field one can see a cursor on the top left of Today screen for 1 sec and in top status field says "contacts" - thats it!

Seems like it tries to load contacts but some file must be missing.

I have not found anything else wrong with latest ROM versions and would like to keep it- if I can get the contacts showing up again

Any idea?

Try to use Htc sim manager. I had the same problem. I didn't see anything in my contacts list. And there is no sim manager in the rom I'm using. Only sim toolkit, but my sim card is not supported. So with Htc sim manager, i can copy my contacts from my sim card to the device memroy, and I can see all my contacts in the contacts list after this. :) It is recommended that you saved your contacts to your sim card.. :D

Hi, sorry to hear that you have this problem with contacts, do you mean the contacts on the sim or contacts on the set? did you restore it from your computer? i use the same rom but i don't have that problem also others who uses my rom don't have this problem as far i know.
Can you tell from witch post u using this rom if you using the one with german keyboard then you have to ask ogara this question because hey made this rom. cheers

I can advice you to download the rom again, maybe it's damage and flash again, or download the kitchen a few post back and make one yourself it's very easy. gl

the rom from post #824 includes the german keyboard. i can confirm this statement. i installed this rom at my german t810, and the hardware keyboard layout is german.
BUT, wmp is not working; very unstable; freeze a lot of times ...

Look at your running services, with some Task Manager and you should see a "keylock" service, stop this service and prevent that it start at device boot. And this should also do the Job.

Please be aware that after you remove the icon at tray and when you turn on your device using the red button you should not see that white screen but keylock is active and you have to long press enter key as usually or your device turns off.

I'm using WM 6.1 ROM from post #749. I played around with HTC Home plugin. Apparently there are 5-tab and 6-tab versions available. So I found one of these 6-tab versions and installed on my device. After the reboot I could see nothing on my home screen, although HTC Home was checked on the Items tab under Start\Settings\Personal\Today.

So next thing I did was installing HTC Home plugin from Acubens' Finale archive (I don't remember which page was that - fifty something or even later...) And now I have six-tab home plugin and uder Start\Settings\Personal\Today I have a separate "HTC Home" tab where you can easily enable/disable the tabs or change their order. To make things easier for you I attach those two versions. First you should install htchome-2.1-hermes-n2a.cab and after the reboot HomePlugin.cab

When I had HTC Wizard in past times :) I was involved a little in xda-developers project to put there wm6. People somehow played with those demo images from microsoft with positive results:

They extracts all files to get original windows based localizations and made new roms with different languages and it was working. The most difficult cases was like I remeber with certification of files, proper configuration, right links, autostart etc. But they made it. Anyway I don't know how it is now. Last time when I played with HTC was almost 2 years ago :)

Also what I found now that there is group of very good polish "cookers" who can making it with good results on HTC Wizard. By accident they localized to polish language almost whole system. Shortly saying ... they tried to put some files from SunnySoft InterWrite WM5 to work with WM6 like i know and cooking it with new made rom and it's somehow working http://forum.mobione.pl/index.php/topic,1119.0.html (site only in polish, sorry)

unfortunally, i can confirm this behaviour :(

what's about the discussion ... to bulid a fault report tooling for manage the open failures with the according rom version.
i think this will be very useful for the developers.

furthermore, we can unclude a feature request for the future releases.

Yes, but you can back it up, you can backup all your data, your whole system. (fsc backup etc.)

I think you can restore your wm5 data to wm6, the formats are the same.
No, If wm6 is flashed on the phone, and you do a hard reset, you get a clean wm6. You have to flash back wm5, if you want to use that.

I don't know, use rom from post 749. I'm using that rom too, and there is fsc backup installed with this.

I had big problems with the newer rom, but it doesen't mean that it won't work corretly on your device. You can give it a try. If it's not good, you can flash your device with the older rom.

This is not likely. Many people have already flashed many ROM.
Even if the flashing fails, you can retry flashing until success.

i dont think that the new wm has any gps features in this direction, but somewhere in this thread there had someone posted that there was a firmware update for Loox N560 to version 3.2 and that this supports agps or quickgps, something like that.

I have got the camera button to work.
Nothing fancy either.
I assigned button 5 away from the Camera and assigned it to the new TomTom7.
I assigned button 5 (hold) to camera and it worked.
I then switched the button back so button 5 became the camera and TT7 (Hold) .
Hope this works for others
Also with TT7, the sound worked without having to rename the 2 files in windows.

to start i want to thanks you for all this great job u have done so far I am new to this forum but i have been reading a lot and even my knoledge is not too bad I find very confusing the way we work out this images for the loox so I just let it to you guys otherwise my wife will kill me if i keep spending much more time on my....GADJETS... ha!ha!ha!

Well jokes apart i have been able to unpack the dll modules and files from the original rom(french) but even if i try to build a new one I can't manage to fix my keyboard issues and I really hope you may help out before i go mad trying.

one more thing i was wondering why in your rom (#749) u have not added the automatic network configuration like wm6fcs did on his beta 3 version it is very cool because for people like me cahnging sim anytimes they travel around the globe it is very usefull that tool.

I've been following the thread for a while and I'm really impressed by all the work you have done so far. I have a question regarding SDHC cards. I just got an 8GB card, and I installed sdhc.777.cab on my system. The card is recognized and the data appears accessible.

However. I am now frequently getting requests from the phone to identify a new USB device. The device is also crashing frequently and hanging during unlock. Has anyone else witnessed this behavior? Any ideas what I may do to correct it?

Just for sake of clarification I'm using Acubens final ROM, and everything was stable prior to upgrading the memory card. Any advice you can share will be appreciated! Thanks,

I get the message "error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename" when I click the camera button. I am using Acubens ROM6.1.
I have the feeling that their is something wrong with the camera since it never worked from day 1 (I don't really need/use it).

I'm using spb phone suite for this problem. If wifi is turned on after soft reset, u can turn it on in the suite's wireless manager too, and then turn it off. And wifi is turned off :) But it's still an annoying bug.

@silky77: yes it can likely depend from the SD card you used for flashing.
Try to format the SD card (may be using a Digital Camera) and reapply the flashing procedure from the SD. It worked for me: i experienced the same exact problem.

I used my t830 as a bt modem,used dell x51v dial via bluetooth,I didnt know how to share the internet programe worked(is it via the bt pan),when I try dial *99***1# in dell x51v,this picture appear in my t830 screen then disappear quickly.

it is same to me,when i can get a BT PAN connection between my x51v and T830,but I cant link any internet program,such as: ie,implus.etc.
Today I test bt dun in official wm5 rom,it work good as bt modem,the strange thing is the widcomm version is same to wm6 or 6.1 (ac rom)

@bluegatar and all the ones interested: i re-read again every post in this thread and fortunately fount the solution to the "Internet Sharing" via bluethoot.
If you follow this post "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2194723&postcount=706" by acubens you will connect seamlessly; though it seems strange because acubens ROM uses Bluetooth PAN User Driver instead of the most used Bluetooth PAN Driver.

@acubens: if i understand well BT PAN User Driver should be the client part of BT PAN (in either a PAN Group Network or a NAP), while BT PAN Driver is the server version of the driver. Therefore we cannot use this ROM in order to let other devices to connect to it using T830 as a BT PAN Network Access Point where DHCP is also enabled. Is that right? Did you use some kind of hack in your ROM?

However, thanx again to acubens and all other coockers for their development and their support/suggestions.

Maybe you sholuld try to check in the file's properites if it's a marked as a system file. ry to copy it without the mark.

Yes, the files are Readonly + Hidden + System, but the T.C. are unable to change these files attributes.
Any other solution ? I had thought to test the acubens rom ...

Hey! Anybody working on the blue keyboard problem? Under wm 5 if you press one of the number buttons, all of them are turning to blue. That is missing in wm 6.1 roms. But 3 days before I pressed 2 or more buttons accidentally, and all the number buttons turned blue. I don't know which buttons I pressed, but it seems like wm 6.1 can use this ability too. If anyone knows something about this, please let me know!

Hello everyone, I have created ROM image from Emulator image. Here is the way to create the ROM image.

Stage 1:
a) Downloaded Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Emulator. (WWE)
b) Downloaded FSC Pocket LOOX 8xx Flash Update V812_EMP7078. (WWE)
c) Downloaded imgfs tools, Version 2.0 and 2.1.

Stage 2:
a)copy PPC_USA_GSM_SQUARE_VR.BIN from installations of Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Emulator to new folder on C:\WM61E\
b)renamed PPC_USA_GSM_SQUARE_VR.BIN to wm61e.bin (for easy use name).
c)copy imgfs tools 2.0 to C:\WM61E\
d)run command on dir. >nbsplit -emu wm61e.bin (it created two files wm61e.bin.extra and wm61e.bin.payload)
e)>imgfsfromnb wm61e.bin.payload imgfs.bin (it created imgfs.bin)
f)>imgfstodump imgfs.bin (it created a dump folder with imgfs dump in it)

IT WORKS :)

In this way you can create clean WM6.1 ROM but to put in all the other original software then "Stage 4: b)copy c:\wm52\dump\OEM\ to c:\wm61\dump\OEM\ and delete c:\wm61\dump\SYS\OEM*".

Hello everyone, I have read though all the threads to know how to create ROM image from Emulator image. I had come up with few Stage's and steps after reading from different threads. I have problem in completing this work because i dont know which files are to be copyed from original WM5.2 ROM.

Stage 1:
a) Downloaded Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Emulator. (WWE)
b) Downloaded FSC Pocket LOOX 8xx Flash Update V812_EMP7078. (WWE)
c) Downloaded imgfs tools, Version 2.0 and 2.1.

Stage 2:
a)copyed PPC_USA_GSM_SQUARE_VR.BIN from installions of Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Emulator to new folder on C:\WM61E\
b)renamed PPC_USA_GSM_SQUARE_VR.BIN to wm61e.bin (for easy use name).
c)copyed imgfs tools 2.0 to C:\WM61E\
d)run command on dir. >nbsplit -emu wm61e.bin (it created two files wm61e.bin.extra and wm61e.bin.payload)
e)>imgfsfromnb wm61e.bin.payload imgfs.bin (it created imgfs.bin)
f)>imgfstodump imgfs.bin (it created a dump folder with imgfs dump in it)

Stage 3:

Just without any reason I can't run bluetooth.

Error seems to be fake unless bluetooth require more than 25MB of RAM.

Any idea how to solve it? Of course except hard reset.

Memory is scarce. I get out of memory errors when browsing very large pages.
I did not experience this with bluetooth.
What programs did you install?

Well it doesn't seem to be a problem with installed programs. I can stop all of them and problems exist. Perhaps there is a way to reinstall bluetooth from cab file and overwrite registry.

I have some issues with Acubens image, seems like something is wrong with the synchronization of contacts with Outlook or any other PocketPC SW with contact import export ability.
It seems like there is a COM object which might not be registered or so.
I noticed this problem when I enabled the showing of the SIM contacts also.
I have recently moved my SIM into the T830, but I could not see my contacts from the SIM.
They only appear when someone who's phone number I have would call me, then the device immediately recognizes the caller.

If you find a problem fitting drivers and apps I would suggest you that once you incorporate the OEM drivers, you can submit the kitchen and allow users to add their favourite applications (maybe by creating an options.xml file for BuildOS), in my case, I would need to add spanish keyboard drivers but I wouldn't care for SQL or Remote desktop for example.

this is your play .......your step by step is wonderful......on the weekend in Germany, will take my T830 for the last test.....have yesterday testet your step by step....is great. On 46 MB is the end by T830 rom size....ok . I think is besser to take not all the FSC appliktions .....


you can remove SQL,Catalog,OneNote,WindowsLive or SampleMusic and other parts from the SYS of the rom ........and you have more place

It is a hybrid version between my old one and a brand new data.zip which I found on the net. At first tests no bugs, the version is very stable and it looks almost like the original rezolutions.

Hello,

after very long testing and very much flashing I've found out, that there is a problem with the actual T830 WM6.1 SYS bases. When changing keyboard drivers, G'Reloc makes something dumb that causes WMP to freeze.
I tracked the error 100% to the SYS dir. OEM and XIP are not the cause.

You have 2 ways to fix the problem.
1) Take other-language-keyboard-files as DLL, NOT as Module

or, how I fixed it:

2) I've replaced in SYS directory all folders that names not contents "96DPI" or "0409" with the SYS files from the german HTC Diamond ROM thats here in the board. After that the ROM works with german keyboard driver as module, with working WMP. It seems that in one of the OLD SYS directory was something that made G'Reloc to kill a WMP related library.

How large will stay free RAM memory with WM6.1 immediately after start of device ? - for WM5 is approx. :26MB from 50MB

How fast is WM6.1 is running fluently without any problems ( freezing, bugs..)?

Bluetooth, WIFI and GPS are running without problem?

Can you sent me link to the latest WM6.1-ROM version?

ROM from post 749 is WM6.1 OS 5.2.1908 (Build 19209.2.3.0)
Many bugs were corrected. GPRS is functional but a little instable.
WiFi sometimes turn on after reboot.
Videocall does not work. (Codecs may be outdated by now anyway ?)
Everything else works very well.

For Toshiba G900, this version is available:
Wm6.1 Ce Os 5.2.20748 (build 20273.1.3.3) Wwe Rom Update
Does someone know what are difference between all these build numbers?
