I fix the activesync problem:)...but still have one more problem: I am from Roumania and t830 still have problem with Cosmote (cosmorom) network. I can't make and receiving calls(the phone has signal). In Vodafone and Orange networks works very well. Please help... Thank You !!!

I flash with that rom but still having same problems... When start t830 with cosmote sim the signal appears. Then appears the G icon (gprs) and then signal lost and not making calls...

Hi!

I am still having that problem with the Contacts on my T830 with Acubens last ROM.
Whenever I want to open the Contacts list, it seems starting for a moment, the title changes, but then nothing happen. Couldn't find any solution for this.
Adding a new contact would not work too.

I have performed a hard reset whit sim inside...network wizard apperas, I am selected automatic configuration and show me something like that: Network wizard connot found your network setting, please contact the network operator...:(

Network wizard is set to auto detect network, if choise manual setting the romanian networks is not in list...:confused:

Hi people!

For the moment I've reverted back to the last WM5 image from FS. Now the contacts are working perfectly, but from time to time I get an error screen about tsksched.exe can't be executed.
I wonder if there are some missing files on my device, or what is happening?

Is it possible to re-format the whole device, so it's clean like when it was new? Re-formatting I mean the whole storage (not the SD card, but the Flash memory).
I noticed that whenever I change the ROM, some programs that I've installed stay in the store. Of course they are not functional, but they are still there!
I think that the contacts issue under WM6 has something to do with this.

Never mind people! I found it. It's RED button held down + click the reset button in the battery bay. A menu will pop up with 3 options:

Clean registry
Factory reset
Skip

Lemme see now if I re-flash the WM6 back to the device. Keep fingers crossed!!!

:( still doesn't work. And now my device is pretty clean... I even activated the Show SIM contacts option. Whenever I want to open contacts, the application appears for a glimpse, then auto closes...

Contacts issue solved!

I've just flashed the ROM from post #736 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2205538&postcount=736), and after a hard reset, it seems like the contacts are working now.

I'll try iGO 2006 too, and be back with more feedback!

EDIT: iGO works just fine. I'm pondering whether to get a SD specially for it, as the maps are pretty large, and have only a 2GB SD which I'm not intending to use only for GPS stuff :D

Well for me the problem with the Contacts was that the application started and stopped rightaway. Finally what I did was to go from Acubens ROM to the one posted at #736 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2205538&postcount=736).
After flashing it, I did a complete factory reset too (RED button held down + click the reset button in the battery bay). You'll get a menu, and choose Factory Reset.
Maybe for you a factory reset might help.
In any case, DO A COMPLETE BACKUP first, cause Factory Reset wipes out your device's flash completely. Like Format C: :D

Hi!

Here:
1. First do a complete backup of all of your data from the PDA.
2. Download #736 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2205538&postcount=736).
3. Take an SD card, and FORMAT (I think quick format is okey) it under Windows to be FAT (this is very important as the card has to be blank, so when you copy the image, it doesn't get fragmented).
4. copy the downloaded MDIO to the card
5. Plug in the card to T830, then take the battery cover off, plug in your charger or USB connection
6. Hold together Camera and Red buttons, then with your stylus press the small reset button in the battery bay.
Your PDA should reset, and you should have some messages about getting flash and programming flash. When finished, push the reset button again.
If for some reason it would stay at the winter screen for too long (over 5 minutes) try a factory reset (Red button + click the reset switch from the battery).
It should work.

Alternatively you could try Acubens image from post 746 too. I personally don't like it cause it's too bloated.

I'm new here and i have a few questions. You see, i have a Pocket Loox 810 which runs wm5, and another member of my university group got a pocketphone with wm6 on it. Since we have to do development for both we'll be using the wm6 sdk from microsoft, and while i can compile simple programs, the examples won't be deployed on my machine and the old SDK probably lacks some features too.

Obviously, if i sat down and edited the examples i could be lucky WM5 has everything i need but we'd rather use the new sdk.

I know this thread is about the 830, and while i have read several pages in this post i have not yet found a definitive answer.

ok just found how to eun the update and got the update tool
so far i have been unable to update the device.
i looks like it reboots before it can upload the files
then when i goto do it by USb because of failed update
it tell me it has a communications error.

am i9 doing something wrong or am i just stuck with the device beeing on WM5.
I have a 4GB sd card but the phone wont read it and the other sd card i have is a
32mb card and is to small to run the upgrade.

can any one adive on what i should do

Stage 1:
a) Downloaded Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Emulator. (WWE)
b) Downloaded FSC Pocket LOOX 8xx Flash Update V812_EMP7078. (WWE)
c) Downloaded imgfs tools, Version 2.0 and 2.1.

Stage 2:
a)copy PPC_USA_GSM_SQUARE_VR.BIN from installations of Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional Emulator to new folder on C:\WM61E\
b)renamed PPC_USA_GSM_SQUARE_VR.BIN to wm61e.bin (for easy use name).
c)copy imgfs tools 2.0 to C:\WM61E\
d)run command on dir. >nbsplit -emu wm61e.bin (it created two files wm61e.bin.extra and wm61e.bin.payload)....

IT WORKS :)

In this way you can create clean WM6.1 ROM but to put in all the other original software then "Stage 4: b)copy c:\wm52\dump\OEM\ to c:\wm61\dump\OEM\ and delete c:\wm61\dump\SYS\OEM*".

My version of nbsplit doesn;t support the -emu, could you provide for downloading the version of nbsplit you used? (and maybe the PPC_USA_GSM_SQUARE_VR.BIN you used).

Fixed this issue :)

the problem is with windows xp and drivers
I just by chance found it too.
when the loox reboots and goes into usb mode.
windows xp does not recoganize the driver
so you have to manualy install the driver just by going into the
hardware manager and updating the driver
it will find the driver than and install it.

then you can run the update

No aditional software was installed.

Sometimes it turnes on (blue light flashes), but when I try to go into "Bluetooth manager"...the stupid message show up.

On the other hand, when I do a Hard Reset, it goes to Boot options but I can't set any of these options (Factory defaults, Clean registry...) because "middle button" doesn't respond.

I have tried to follow the instructions for the assembling of the ROM, but I have two questions:

1.- What are the correct parameters for g'reloc (slot 0, slot 1 and ROM size), should I also manipluate .sys /rom .VM files?

2.- On the BuildOS stage, what repeated drivers do you discard the ones coming from the emulator image or the ones coming from original T830 OEM image?

Hello, i see development had stop on this thread but somehow i had come up with new ROM from Emulator Image which is very clean. i manage to convert Windows Mobile 6.1 Emulator Image to ROM image with original drivers from 5.2. Its working but still little buggy, soon i will upload it once its not buggy and I have to overcome the size problem so i can include more apps. I am really sorry for such a late reply. I stop working with ROM, i don't know what to do. I was over excited when i bought the phone and wanted to update. but its seems somehow useless for me since i would really like linux running on my phone, but i am not good yet to make it.

People if you really want to have WM6.1 then lets work together; we can make the perfect image but the thing is that we need to work. My knowledge limits on this field but i have interest. please pm me if you are interested. We learn from each other and make new ROM with everything working.

@Felipe Rodriguez:Well you should copy .VM from from OEM ROM and Delete repeated driver from OEM. Well there were few more twinkles you have to do before you can make it work.

Yes, no problem doing that, I am trying to integrate WLAN and then I could write the guide, I would like to have this already excellent kitchen with all hardware working, let's hope Powerbyte release a second version of the EMU kitchen, in my opinion FSC profiles, HTC network wizard and MMS should also be integrated!.

I am able to speak in 4 different languages and I will be more then happy to translate tutorials on how to do ...things, like change the KB languages or build a rom from clean image using kitchen from acubens or whatever matter regarding the T830 .

So if anyone is able to write a proper tutorial in english-spanish-french-italian, I will be more then happy to translate it in all the missing languages listed above.

Someone may think is a waste of time but i believe that if we could comunicate better between each other we could probably reach more goals together.

Strange things are happening lately with my 830.
Whenever I disconnect it from the PC, and lock the keys, it goes to sleep after a while. Then when I press the red button to exit sleep, it re-boots.
I'm using the ROM posted at #736 since 2 months now, and this problem appeared like since last week or so.
Did anybody had this behavior so far?

Yes I have the same issue and I use the same rom I thought was just happening to me after my last image installation....maybe an error during the process.
I'll try another rom then I'll be back reporting if still doing it.

Hi!

Here:
1. First do a complete backup of all of your data from the PDA.
2. Download #736 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2205538&postcount=736).
3. Take an SD card, and FORMAT (I think quick format is okey) it under Windows to be FAT (this is very important as the card has to be blank, so when you copy the image, it doesn't get fragmented).
4. copy the downloaded MDIO to the card
5. Plug in the card to T830, then take the battery cover off, plug in your charger or USB connection
6. Hold together Camera and Red buttons, then with your stylus press the small reset button in the battery bay.
Your PDA should reset, and you should have some messages about getting flash and programming flash. When finished, push the reset button again.
If for some reason it would stay at the winter screen for too long (over 5 minutes) try a factory reset (Red button + click the reset switch from the battery).
It should work.

Alternatively you could try Acubens image from post 746 too. I personally don't like it cause it's too bloated.

There should be internet sharing which should work for you :) you dont need any modem driver just Active sync installed on you pc... ;)

You know I test every rom on this forum, but I still have WM5, because of minimum bugs, which are in WM6 roms...

But I would like to have debugged rom for my device... :D

Yeah I'am from CZ :) but I sold my T830 to my friend and bought Kaiser last weekend...

So I cant work on new rom for T830...

But we (I & My friend) can help somehow with development... testing and feedback for any cooker... ;-)

Yes i know... You shoul download that from vendor site... but you have to switch to unsupported OS and then you should see every files for your phone... :)

Ehm... maybe you should read some manual, because that what you wrote is a little confused...

If you would like to hard reset (factory default) your phone its just red button holding and then reset button on the bottom (you will need stylus to do that)...

If you would like to flash your phone by SD/MMC (not SDHC - because this need a driver and the driver isn't loaded in boot loader) you should press red one + camera and reset (with stylus) but you have to still holding red + camera... then you should flash you phone... on the card should be mdoc.dio (what is default name of flash image)...

I can't do it right now, because I sold my T830 but i remember that...

Another one think is that I never do flash like that I always use docking station for T830...

HH yeah completely agree with you WM6 roms still to bugy for me too... because I need device for work, like exchange sync, telephone and etc... In this case isn't possible to have device which freezing and sometimes have no signal without any notice to you...

So I bought Kaiser because I love it...

But BlackStone (Touch HD) is in CZ becouse my collegue have one :D and another person (my bussines partner) have another one... :)

Hi guys! I'm using fsc profiles a lot to switch between max battery and max power mode. I'm tired of running the profiles menu, so i have a question for you all. Is it possible to write a program to do the job? I mean only an .exe file. Maybe fscswitch.exe :) So if I run it, it can switch between max battery and max power mode. If max battery mode is active, then it switches to max power, and if max power mode is active, it switches to max battery with only a tap? So I can place it into the start menu. Anyone can make a program like this?

You know... There is better choice for you maybe... You should use automatic settings... it's the best choice {like Intel Speedstep} when you want power zou get it and if is device sleeping so you don't want any more power then is neccesary... (you dont drain you battery so much) and about brightnes settings there is a shift key on you hw keyboard and when you press it and hold then you should set lightning by cross key (to left is down and to the right is it up) ;-)

You can imagine that is it like (but I dont know exact numbers): if you using device and you just do nothink (browsing contacts, etc...) you use for example 15% of you cpu... so there is no need for higher frequencies... but if you will need for somethink more like 60% or more than cpu is overclocked on 416MHz and you have all computing power... There are few programs which can oveclock you cpu more, but I never do that and I think that it is nothing good for you battery and device too... The device can sometimes be very hotty ;-)

Hello everyone
Two days ago i instaled on my T830 rom ( Build CE OS 5.2.1908 Build 19209.2.3.0.)
Rom is fast , clean , but have two problem one the contacts from the sim card are hide in contacts , and second profile A2DP not working on my phones ( moto S9 - very nice phones, best quality sound , better than my old HT820 )

Solution to unhide sim card contact is very simple download OS RegTweaker (for smatphone) run it and in the first page you have option "Show SIM" change value from OFF to ON and from "menu" press apply tweaks and run contacts :)

To A2DP i haven't got any solution , i try instal some fixes but not works

Any solution for this (other rom with support A2DP profile ? )

I'm still own FSC T830 is very good for me and I'm still checking this topic about new ROM. I want to help if I can .I haven't got experiences with programing ,but I can start with testing new ROM and looking for some bugs on my FSC T830.

When I charge the device the backlights turns off every 2 sec's.

Is it possible to fix camera's auto focus? This works with WM5 (Camera key focuses and then takes shot) but in all WM6 builds auto-focus does not work...

I am using Beta4 for few days, at the moment only problems I have is:

1. after reboot I lost mapping of 5th button (hold), it's common problem of ALL WM6.1 ROM's

2. sometimes I lost my home wifi network profile, it's a hidden WPA-PSK network. I have to recreate profile again...it's very boring.....

But anyway, it's great image, thank you very much!

I'm using this release since yesterday and I'm very impressed. The speed improvement from a previous wm6.1 image I was using is very noticeable.

Some observations:

* missing newmail.exe
* mms does not seem to work (missing new->mms option in menu - how am I supposed to create a new mms?)
* you need "enable server edit.cab" to be able to modify mms config
* FSC keylock missing? the keyboard is locked after wakeup but you don't get any feedback after unlocking
* the dialer background image seems to be missing
* how do you use qgps? tomtom7 seems to ignore the downloaded data

If you like it, I will update this post with any further observations.

I'm using T8xx Firmware 2009 Beta 6 ENG from powerbyte also.
For new MMS go to SMS/MMS menu and choose "New MMS" or go to contact list, choose contact (use "double tap"-tap once, then touch and hold) and (MMS is on botom of menu).
New e-mail you can find at this menu too (if you set e-mail account and if contact have e-mail).
Messaging is not problem in this ROM.
I'm not using FSC keylock. This is a clean ROM, use other software which can replace FSC software functions.
Dialer is OK.

Are you sure that TT version (used in your test) works fine?
Maybe is file corupted or bad. I will try GPS software also.

I think that is T8xx Firmware 2009 Beta 6 ENG from powerbyte -very good work! Tools are very usefull.

I'm using T830 with German keypad and T8xx Firmware 2009 Beta 6 ENG.
Good work! Well done - powerbyte!!!

Software keypad (on screen) is not problem, it can be on english language (many applications can switch on/off different languages on software keypad).

Can you (at final version, for example T8xx Firmware 2009 ENG) replace hardware (built-in) keypad layout from English to original German key layout - for example in T8xx Firmware 2009 ENG with German keypad -qwertz layout ROM?
Can I change hardware keyboard driver of T830 without ROM kitchen, on started Windows Mobile OS?

Also, can you maybe modify ROM (not obligatory) to solve problem with blue key illumination or inputing numbers without Fn?
Posts #544 and #643 have comments about driver for keypad light for other ROM version (from acuben).
I think that acuben have a solution for this function (separating numbers on keypad with blue light- for phone function).
Also, other solution is described at post #918.

I discover problem with fast switch on and take picture with camera button (Button 5 in Setting/Personal/Buttons). However, camera can work after switch on from "Pictures and Video" menu, and with "Enter" camera can take picture.

For new MMS go to SMS/MMS menu and choose "New MMS" or go to contact list, choose contact (use "double tap"-tap once, then touch and hold) and (MMS is on botom of menu).
New e-mail you can find at this menu too (if you set e-mail account and if contact have e-mail).
Messaging is not problem in this ROM.

Your window have different look. I have "MMS", "SMS" and "VoiceMail" in menu. You have "New Normal Message" except "MMS" in your menu. Is that other application than original? You mention "NewMail" application.

Can you use any other way for MMS creation, like description in post #1109 ?

nope, only standard application. newmail.exe is a standard fujitsu-siemens app included in the original wm5 rom (and missing in powerbyte's one, so it's likely not the guilty ;-) )

I already tried that suggestion. anyway, as I already mentioned it's not a problem for me, as I don't use mms at all.

Now I made a hard reset and MMS appears to be working as it should.

From what I tested in the past 2 weeks (beta 4&6):

- system is stable (the "wireless on after soft reset" issue occured only once and really no hang-ups)
- GPS (IGO 2006) works ok
- 3G and wireless work ok

No, SDHC driver isn't included and you must install SDHC.777.cab or similar driver.

I did a soft rest, and now its just stuck on the snow screen (The first screen when you turn on the T830) Sorry if this was already asked, but I might have missed it through the posts, as there are a lot of them! :) Hope ANYONE can help me!! I used to ski with my T830 in my pocket when a snow came up. The device became wet. Instead of wipe it up I continued to used it. In some hour all the WM5.1(the original) items and functions disappeared. I became an owner of a cheap phone with call/hang up functions only. All my files have gone.
I have no option to claim or look for a service. And in the mean time I was a total newbie in ROMs. Have just installed apps in PPC and use them.
I just started to read this thread. I read in two days all the posts. I copied the main ROMs published and selected the comments by ROM into separate folders. I re-read them separated in order to get the main point of each. This took me two days by 9-10hours each.

I choosed your ROM (Beta4 was the last those days), crossed the fingers and started.. First I backed up all the personal docs.(They still appeared in PC) After I installed the original update available for the device at FS site. Then - your ROM.
Everything was FINE ! The device rebooted in WM6.1 !
Since two weeks I used it without problems. It synced immediately and recovered all my stuff from the laptop.
It is much more FAST than the original OS !! Faster OS, faster GPS, faster WiFi. Still not tested the BT only..
It is very stable and memory saving too!
Well, all the improvements you posted after Beta 4 are good and necessary. But w/o them the device is working also, and its very very stable.

I would to post later all the applications included in the ROM a well as all the applications I had on the SDs that started flawlessly right after the SDcard insertion and manual click on the respective .exe.
All the keys of the device were at their places and working. With on exception only: the PowerOn/Off key (see below).
You are A GENIUS ! You saved my life in a very critical moment and in the easiest way possible ! Thank you ! Thank you ! Thank you !
I will make a second post with detailed description of the steps and all apps I followed. I think this way could save someone else' time to read all these 1000+ posts. Or maybe to open a new thread with your ROMs only? AS They are really GOOD!

Now I would like to add to your ToDo list my opinion:

1.SDHC support. Yes, this is the main need I would to say. More than VideoCall (for me).

2.The Power Button (the Red One) in the original WM5.1 has a small menu appearing after press&Hold (I don't know its FS original name). It contains different ways to SwitchOff the device: StandBy; Complete Off; Hybernate; Flight Mode;Maximum Battery; Maximum Performance, etc. As far as I know the Complete Off option was the only way to Shut Down and Switch Off the device without Soft Reset. After Switch Off you can Turn On the device again from that button.
Now, within the Beta 4, there is NO menu under this button. A short press turns off the screen only. But the device is working in behind. If you press again for Turn On it starts from the WM6.1 screen, but not from the Igloo picture as it was before. I guess an incoming call can wake it up too (not tested).The same happens if you use the PowerOff option of the ROM-included program CPUScalar.
This way you cannot Switch Of the device in no way. The only possibility is to soft reset and to pull out the battery in the mean time.
So, my proposal is to include the FS original Menu under the RedButton.

3.You have included a few, but very good application in the ROMs. Will post them in my next preview.
I would like to ask you to include in the next release an Anti-Thief application. For example- EyeOnThieft. As it will take a special (Guard) role for the device it is good to be included in the ROM. Same is the developers' recommendation.

4.I would to suggest another Backup program too- either FS backup or Spb Backup. This PIM backup.. I am not sure it has the same capabilities as these two.

5.I would like to ask you : is it possible to implement in the ROM a (second) Hardware Keyboard that is additional to the English one?

Again, THANK you for your work ! It's Impressive ! Just like the original WM was in the beginning !

Wouldn't this be a problem when you restore from a backup made with a previous version? Will the programs previously installed on the storage card work after the restore?

(you need a hard reset after flashing a new firmware and thus a full restore, registry included)

Thank you for your new work ! I have any doubt it will be as good as the previous.
Concerning the name of the SDcard , I am not sure it will be better. For example I remember a TomTom6 problem due to this same name: Storage Card. The solution was: Rename the Storage Card !
As for Navigon I had MN6.2 on an SDcard installed before ROM-upgrading to Beta 4 (when with the originalROM). I was the slowest Navi I have had(comparing to TT6, Igo06, D7,GMXT4.10xx). But AFTER the ROM-upgrading I have tried all the apps I have on the SDs. With simple manual click on the .exe, Navigon6.2 started immediately and found the GPS in some seconds! That way it became the FASTEST Navi in the same range comparison. Unbelievable, but true !
So I want to ask you is it possible to stay with the old SDcard name? Or it is possible to change it from within the device after Beta 7 is installed?
Please note I am not familiar with 'kitchen' and cannot make my own ROM.
Unless you explain me how... :)

I yesterday flashed my T830 using the Beta 6 firmaware.

Amazing :-)

I have found two issues which I would like to bring to attention - and to hear whether it is just me having those minor problems.

1) I cannot forward phonecalls - when I have checked the conditions for where the phone should forward the call - and pressed ok - I get an error that the phone can not communicate and that I should try later (which gives the same result) - using TDK-MOBIL 3G in Denmark

2) I have a Plantronics BT headset cabable of playing high quality audio as well as normal phone operations. With the origianl firmware I had no problems, but with this beta firmware I can only connect to the phone part and not the high quality audio unit.

I consider both errors minor - however I would like to know whether other have found the same issues ?

Hi. I installed beta8 - it works fine with a SanDisk 4GB SHDC. After full restore (from SPB backup) the card name is back to SD-MMCard, so no problem at all.

The driver is _much_ faster than the others I used (HTC and 777).

I've installed 6.1 Beta 8 on my T830 and works very good!!

What I've tested and works:
- Faster, faster and faster!!
- Rapid GPS Fix. It takes a few seconds.
- WiFi with WEP 128 bit
- Camera
- TomTom 6.10
- using ENG version Italian Keybord layout is OK!!

What I have tested and doesn't work:
- Start a dial using the keybord (pressing numbers the color change in blue, but are write letters). Instead using "Fn" (locked) dial start with number, but keys doesn't change in blue.
- Settings->System->Phone Settings there is last sheet with non name. When selected show only 2 checkbox without any text. Whic functions are missed ?


Wish list (maybe external programs too):
- Remove contact list when keypad is showed inside Phone application to have touch keys larger (like WM 5.0)
- "Fn" and "Caps Lock" indicator (better in the status bar on top)
- A tool to manage loaded prorgrams and close it quickly.

I'm proced to test other functions....

Exploring your rom I had the pleasant surprise to find TCPMP 0.81 and .NET3.5 . Very nice.

Maybe you can add the small (5k) program I attached that prints the .NET revision and also the dlls to support flash video in TCPMP.

Unfortunately the SIM toolkit app does not start for me.

Page download hangs. Few times restart, often IE locks and I need to reset.
I've tried a download (3 Mb) and works fine ???

I don't understand wat's matter!!

I also suggest this changes (to do - wish list :)

I check TomTom7 and it works fine. Tomtom 8 can not start (not enough memory) but TomTom 7 is OK for GPS navigation purposes!

No, I meant that if your device goes to sleep after an inactivity timout the hardware keys remain unlocked on wakeup unless you locked them before.

Maybe this is another face of the same problem: I'm using a software called ledup.exe to test the leds and it seems that the right blue led is not working at all. The orange one works and the blue and green left leds work.

They used to work with the previous wm6.1 ROM I was using (maybe they don't work with _every_ ROM in this Powerbyte series, I don't know).

I've found a trick to enable sound on reminders.
Simply you need to select one sound....

1 - Start-Settings->Sounds & Notifications
2 - Select "Notifications" sheet
3 - Select in the "Event" drop down menù: Reminders.
4 - Select a Sound (i've choice "Notify") then click ok.

Now on reminder your T830 works fine.... :D

I haven't tried, but I think the same steps solves SMS no sound. ;-)

P.S. BTW, I am still with Beta 4 and it's working great (3weeks). Very stable and fast. All the navi apps had not problem with the GPS.(iGo8, MN6, GMXT5,TT7.910,TT6,Igo06+,R66v8) Of course, my notes on it from previous posts are valid.

-..For closing apps, it is already included: OxiosCloseApps. It is really CLOSING any app. And free the RAM immediately..
-For 'Fn" and CapsLock' Indicator- Completely Agree!
-For Removing the Call list- not at all. I prefer the 'hide keybord' button assigned to the left upper one in this particular moment, and to look at the call list.

Yes, I have tried it with the Original WM5.1. It worked good. I have adopted it for another cyrillic (not the Russian) and I have missed 2-3 letters only.
I don't know wheather powerbyte could integrate this in a ROM.
It's up to him to ask.

Just would like to ask you weather you met problems with the Bluetooth, with Beta 8 ?
I mean normal use: pairing, discovering, File transfer, OBEX object push, Serial Port, Active Sync, standard HeadSet(not stereo or other) ?
IN Beta 4 more of these are o.k.. I failed in pairing only (with a PC), but I just set to: All devices can connect to me' option and was able to connect.
Exploring and transfering files =OK.

IN Beta 4 more of these are o.k.. I failed in pairing only (with a PC), but I just set to: All devices can connect to me' option and was able to connect.
Exploring and transfering files =OK.

I am happy to support this great releaser powerbyte and to move forward and to try Beta 8 instead of Beta 4 pretty good working on FSCT830, with the above in this tread posted remarks, of course.
I followed the advice to backup the device with SpbBackup(2.01)
I flashed it. I restore the backed up info.
The device run smoothly. A bit faster than with Beta 4. Initially the WiFi hanged up started, but after soft reset and WiFi turn Off it stayed Off.
I tested almost all apps I had on the SDs- all run same way as in Beta 4.
The name of the SDcard was again: SD-MMCcard. (This was my main fear-to keep it like this).
But I tried to recognize in the device an 4GB SDHC microSD card. I put it in an MicroSD Adapter. (Not MicroSDHC).
The card was not recognized by the device.
I want to ask here:
-is the adapter the reason? (I think it only adapts the size)
OR
-The Full backup I performed (from a ROM that didn't support SDHC)and Restored on the new ROM has "removed" its SDHC functionality, burned-in as stated in ROM's publication's post?
EDIT: I went to the sh and I tried a brand new SD KingstonSH16GB. It was recognized. So, I can resume the adapter was the reason or the MiniSDHC format at all(I don't believe it).
Another Issue I met:
When synchronizing with the PC, My Documents folder on the device stayed as it was full before (since it was restored by SpbBackup along all other stuff), but has been emptied on the PC. (was smart to back it up before too).
EDIT: On the second sync some hours after all content appeared!

It is exactly what I have missed in the Beta4 , but also now, in Beta 8. Yes, this menu is missing definitely. It was the only option to Shut Down the device.

please include this in the next release. I saw it attached on the previous page in the post of pt_t830 (#1157).
Without this menu it is impossible to Turn Off the device. The only way now with Beta 8 is to Soft Reset and to detach the battery in a second after.

You got it. The reason is the full restore from beta4. Unfortunately if you want to use MMS with latest Powerbyte roms you have to do a hard reset and then reinstall all your software.

I did it and it worked nicely. Please keep in mind that with the Network Wizard included in the ROM you don't have to retype all your GPRS/MMS config but simply choose you provider in the list and soft-reset.

By the way, restoring from a backup from beta6 to beta8 worked perfectly with no issue whatsoever.

I installed it some minutes ago.
Work definitely GREAT !
Not tested yet all the functionalities.
But the FSC Profiles - Now work ! You are able to completely Turn Off the device without Soft Reset it.
MMS is available too.
Syncronization via ActiveSync for Outlook parts (w/o email) passed flawlessly. With other apps too.
Backlight is now set to :30sec. And it can be memorized after SoftReset
unlike in Beta 8.
Tomorrow will report for the SDHC support as I have to go to the shop again (as I did it for Beta 8).
Will test all the apps I have on SDs again too.

I think this can be a bug of s2u2. Better post this info on its dedicated thread here on xda.

Actually, for me this is a nice feature: you have to press the red button for a few seconds to have FSC profiles popping up and this can't happen by chance. With this behavior you can turn off your device without the need to unlock it.

Install Beta ver 9, it have Keylock function and after long press on Enter- you will Lock device. Unlock it with tap screen on "Unlock" command. Beta 9 also have FSC Profiles for switch off device. It works.

In FSC Profiles only "Max Battery" have problem on my phone- it fade off on switch off screen. I'm using "Advanced Config" from Programs/Tolls and in "Advanced Config" submenu "Power Management" I enable power savings from SD/MMC card slot and other functions. Now my battery with 3060mAh can power PDA about 3 days, and original battery about 1,5 days (with using at phone mode- primary, with no GPS, WLAN and other functions) .

I agree with you -if someone use only FSC Keylock he can Lock device with long press on Enter- and Unlock it with tap screen on "Unlock" command. Beta 9 also have FSC Profiles for switch off device. It works.

But, on other ROM version, from Acubens, S2U2 works (complete lock device- all functions) and also that ROM have FSC Keylock and FSC Profiles. So, maybe mistake is not at S2U2, maybe mistake is in this Microsoft Emulator ROM version Beta 9 (like SIM toll in Emulator version also doesn't work -Beta 6, Beta 8).

I think that only couple things can made this ROM fully functional, there is no need for other applications in next ROM version-let users find personaly other applications for personal use. :rolleyes:

1. FN blue key solution (for calls)
2. fast switch on and take picture with camera button (Button 5 in Setting/Personal/Buttons)
3. hardware keyboard language change for t830 with non-English keyboard ("cab" or"exe" installation file with other languages, or different ROM versions with other language keyboard driver, or maybe language changing can work with modification at "Advanced Config" from "Programs/Tolls" and in "Advanced Config" submenu "Input/Keyboard layout"?)
4. repaired ROM mistakes/errors/problems which users discover at exploatation.

All other functions can be solved with different applications like for example:
- Resco Backup for data backup,
- G Alarm for better reminder clock,
- keyboard autolock appl. like S2U2,
- Paragon Interkey or Resco Keyboard for language change on software (touch screen) keyboard and different touch screen keyboard shape,
- keyboard language mapper like AekMap (from post #1161) can made hardware keyboard change and solve #3 above,

Applications which you allready included on this ROM version (for example CPU Scalar, OxiosCloseApps etc.) are enought for T830 functions, that's my opinion. Of course - you can always put in ROM more applications (which you like, or if you find that is extreme usefull for all).

MN7 is not designed for our screen(240x240). If somebody 'redesign' it maybe it will start. I tried on Beta 9 successfully: Destinator7.0463; GarminXT5.0.10; iGo8.3.2; Route66.8.6126;TT7;. All of them catch the GPS signal extremely fast -in less than 30secs. Only exception is R66-it needs a minute or two. So I can say the GPS driver in the ROM is extremely good.

Agree with your suggestions, except for Antithieft application. My wish to implement it in the ROM is invoked by... the developers of the applications.
I have checked several of these and the majority of developers advice to 'cook it into your ROM if it's possible".
This comes from the specific purpose of these kind of applications.
They need to stay in the device till the very last possible moment. And have to be secured in the most secure possible way. This way is the ROM-cooking.(BTW the Idea for JGUI ReportEraser, but in the ROM is nice too)
I can only add here as a recommendation, a request posted somewhere above: 'Fn' and 'Caps' keys Indicator. But I am not sure it's possible.\
And other remark too: within the ROM you have predefined space. Better to use it with maximum efficiency. But on the device - the space is always less than you need. Not taken into account the CPU usage. So better to put more in the ROM, right?

I can play old 3gp video only in full screen mode . revert to normal mode , on display freeze last frame before minimizing

Late edit : if i touch volume slider i can watch video even in normal mode .
Late edit 2 : after i run succesful tcpmp in normal mode , application "picture & video" display thumbnails associated with tcpmp and can be performed .so there is an asociation problem

I will suggest that next ROM with TCPMP have included files: "common.dll" AND "interface.plg" from "SUBS063WM61.zip". This will enable *.srt and *.sub subtitles on TCPMP 0.81. TCPMP 0.81 also support *.smi format for subtitles.
In menu must be enabled Subtitles, and activated GAPI video driver to show subtitles from Stream menu.



MN7 is not designed for our screen(240x240)...

This is not a big problem, it is ordinary settings, but if some registry key can repair this at start, it will be fine :)

Keyboard language mapper like AekMap or similar can solve problem with different hardware keyboard- without need for ROM cook.

I don't suggest that JGUI or other applications from my list going to new ROM. I suggested that every user find applications for himself. It is impossible to every user be satisfied with, for example my choice (for applications for ROM).
Let powerbyte made efficient ROM, with basic functions. If someone want different applications- let he find that applications personally.
Also, I think - ROM must be as smaller as possible- because of free of choice for every T830 user, whatever other developers wrote to you.
Only basic applications must be on ROM /PDA memory- other can be on MMC or SD card. User made choice based on: memory cards exchange needs/PDA memory capacity/speed -which application/PDA need.
If I need applictions rarely, like JGUI ReportEraser delete my reports every one hour- it is not obligatory that application start from PDA device- it can work from SD card for example. There is no need for speed for JGUI ReportEraser :)

This last ROM -Beta 9 have very usefull set of applications. I think - don't put to much applications (after this good choice) on next ROM.

Antithieft application maybe can help someone- but let powerbyte decide. Fast ROM flashing will destroy almost any Antithieft application (except original FSC Phone lock application which lock phone after SIM change if Phone code exist) - if thief want's to erase data with original ROM or ROM from this forum. He is a ROM maker and let he find optimal package of applications for ROM.
As I wrote, he allready put a very good choice of applications on ROM.

I can play old 3gp video only in full screen mode . revert to normal mode , on display freeze last frame before minimizing

Late edit : if i touch volume slider i can watch video even in normal mode .
Late edit 2 : after i run succesful tcpmp in normal mode , application "picture & video" display thumbnails associated with tcpmp and can be performed .so there is an asociation problem
Late edit 3 : after that i try watch youtube's videos . i get the error: "RTSP protocol not supported"

Until now all are good , Office 6.1 ( what onelsy I like the most .... without the thing this excel version sucks with the thing when u close one document in excel, and reopen it is not take u at the last cell modified , don t tell me cause is not so, becase ... try a excel document with many sheets, and u see it will take u to the first sheet , np at all i can make a one page .... and what surprize me is opening a 2mb excel document very nice ...)

I wasn't here for some time, it's nice to see the thread is alive, and there are new beta roms :) I'm still using one of the acuben's roms, no bugs at all for me, only video call and blue keyboard is missing (I'm not using a bt headset and gprs connections). I will definitely try one of the betas, or a later rom. I'm wondering if our "little" brick will meet the requirements for the upcoming Wm7 :D Keep up the good work!

TCPMP officialy reach end of developing- CorePlayer is next product from same developers. It's better than TCPMP, only haven't subtitles support and is not a free product.

Test result on Beta 9 WM6.1.
After some days of use I've found that Beta 8 is better than Beta 9.
What's bad on B9:
1 - Cold Fix time is longer (about 2 minutes instead 30 seconds). Soft-Reset speedup fix (TT6.5)
2 - The name for the SD "Storage Card", cause for me some trouble. I need to have SD-MMC (like original rom). For example TT lost my setup and I need to configure Base Location every time I start TT.
3 - Some video trouble. When I close windows or applications screen is dirty, remain one row on top that show previous windows. Sometime the top bar shown black vertical row or there are missed blocks. I need to reset or use Oxios CloseApps to solve.
4 - FSC_Profiles: S2U2 doesn't lock it!! With locked screen it's possible to recall and use FSC_Profile.
5 - QGPS doens't exist. It works with T830 ?
6 - No blink for Reminder (like Beta 8)

Respect point 1, I've got the same issue with original (WM5) ROM, using Beta 8 I haven't any trouble, with Beta 9 Yes.
Difference between this ROMS is the presence of FSC_Profiles. It's possible that FSC_Profiles influence the GPS fix time ?
I can't find other difference.

It's possible having the kitchen, to compile a Beta 9 without FSC_Profile to check if GPS fix time return to times of Beta 8 ?

What's GOOD:
1 - GPRS/UMTS now works fine, no locks.
2 - General speed it's ok.


I prefer to have a minimal ROM very, very stable and add other software by myself.

I install always at least this two softwares:

1 - S2U2 to easily lock and unlock the device.

2 - SBP Pocket Plus to solve common request from other users.
This software make more usable the PDA because have several function to improve user interface (large Icons on Today, to recall immediatly several applications without the need to broswse the menu) and add some interesting functions , like backup/Restore, ecc...

Hi all, I have a WM6.1 rom d/l earlier from a post, can't remember which one, but it included all the original FSC software and its a clean ROM, its stable none-the-less. Anyway, with it I installed a brower software called "skyfire" beta its a freeware progam that lets you browse websites to the full screen of a desktop PC. Once installed it adds a web bar into your "TODAY" menu where you can type a web address, the funny thing is when you "press" the areas of the keyboard that include the "numbers" for phone dialing the KEY PAD TURNS BLUE FOR THE NUMBERS!!! :D BUT only in this address bar, if you click to go to the website it doesn't do it anymore, only in the today menu screen. Maybe this can be used from the programmers here (i.e. powerbyte, etc) to fix the blue keypad problem, because this program somehow makes it work.... hope this helps somehow! :)

1. If it comes about the GPS ColdFix time
- agree with this. I can say: GPS ColdFix is longer indeed.. Tested with several programs(TT7,iGo8,MN6.2,GMXT5,R66.8).
2.Storage Card name:
-Absolutely agree ! I have also met the TomTom7.9 trouble with it.
3.Video.
I don't use it at all. Do not have opinion. But have used OxiosCloseApps to close some other programs too.
4.FSC Profiles.
Thank God it exists in this ROM. And works as in the original one. It offers the only way to Completely Turn Off your device, without SoftReset it !
5.QGPS.
I think it is better without it. Don't have argues on this, but in BETA 9 the GPS receiver works well, if you miss the trouble in point 1.
6. Maybe you can have a blink for reminder. Do you have try to set it in Settings/System/Notifications first ? (I am not yet).

2.Why don't you try SbpMobileShell 2.14? You will have in addition of the functions you mentioned, A Wheather Forcast, and a very nice interface.

I got the blue lights working too with an unknown key combo, sometimes it appears :) But not only the color is important. Under Wm5 if you press one of the number buttons, not only that part of the keyboard turns blue, but the device enters the dialpad, and you can dial without tapping the screen. I think this issue is more important than the color.(Anyway, I love that blue color, and I miss it :D )

You have "Phone lock" enabled (activated with first SIM card). When you put second SIM card (which you put after "Phone lock" activation with first SIM card), you can input PIN (sometime ask for PIN2) in newest ROM WM6 or WM6.1, but you get message "No service", because newest ROM haven't "Phone lock" application.
"Phone lock" is not a SIM PIN, and it is a VERY STRONG protection against phone stealing. ROM flashing can not destroy "Phone lock" activation password.
System ask for password if you change SIM card or you must put old SIM card and deactivate "Phone lock".

To disolve this, flash PDA with original WM5, and put SIM card which work (which can find GSM network).
Then find application "Phone lock" and DISABLE "Phone Lock" feature.
Test PDA with other SIM card (which now can not find GSM Network) in WM5, and if this SIM find GSM network, you can use both SIM cards in all other ROM versions (WM6 or WM6.1).

I agree with you, I'm using "SbpMobileShell" and it works very well. After long press on "Enter" it automaticaly go in "Now" window which have all usefull functions for phone use and couple rows for notifications.

People, new ROM can't solve all problems with newest software. You must consider that newest software ask more and more PDA resources.
Also, some software have mistakes and is not intended (or optimized) for 240x240 screen.

I haven't trouble with SD "Storage Card" name. I'm using also Tomtom 7.9 (version 7.910.9185 QVGA blue for PDA) and I haven't problems with "Storage Card" name, my map is in root of Storage Card.
I saw video trouble only with FSC Profiles - "Max Battery" mode (see post #1186) and with Mobile Navigator, when I had some poor/buggy version of MN6.5.
Now Mobile Navigator MN6.5 works fine, without video problems, but sometime is slow in menu.
Nav N Go iGO 8 R3 series - v8.3.2.64873 is best GPS application for me.

As I wrote, new ROM can't solve all problems with newest software. Test ROM also with older software versions. For example, use a litle older GPS software which have a newest maps and support for 240x240 screen.

Let @Powerbyte try to solve other important things/bugs in ROM!

Well I flashed with WM5, and PhoneLock was disabled. I enabled it, and then disabled it again. Then, without flashing to WM6, I swapped the SIM cards. Still no luck.
Seems like my phone is being rejected by the network.

Try that SIM card in couple other GSM phones. T830 isn't locked for networks.
When you enable "PhoneLock" at test, and then disabled it again, did you put new "PhoneLock" password or you just enable disable checkbox?

It asked for the password again before letting me to clear the checkbox. The SIM works fine in other phones. :-( And I just flashed to WM6. Still no luck. Maybe the provider is really blocking my T830 (although their website says my phone is on the white list). I'm going to try another SIM card from 432-11
Checked with another SIM card. The phone can detect the network, but the network says the mobile phone is off. And I can't dial any number (except for 112 --- yes I tried it), nor send any messages. Maybe this is a problem with my provider?

Let try everybody to make a list with his own recommendations for improvements on BASIC Issues. And Issues concerning the T830 hardware and proper functions.
Afterwards everybody may have another list with applications to be included in the ROM.
But Afterwards !
As for now, powerbyte has solved a huge amount of issues and have made the device working faster than original, and stable in daily use.
Let help him improve it to the end.

It is on of the main advantages of this device: to have to be able to enter (and dial) a number on the screen with one hand !
Maybe the lack of this Dial Pad is the reason powerbyte has added the call history list above the (software) Dial Pad that appears after a GreenButton ShortPress. In the original WM, on this place (above the software DialPad) was the empty room for entering numbers only, using the harware Dial Pad (a.k.a. Blue Buttons)*.
I strongly believe powerbyte will find a solution for this !

@Powerbyte can't waste time at this moment for any reported problem with external applications (also when some older applications works well!), exception is when he want to solve certain problem.
Conclusion is important -first basic functions must be solved :)

Well, the history list in the dialpad is just the result of the use of a dialpad without videocall support. It's smaller and so it does not cover all the screen.

I don't like at all the way it looks, but maybe it's just me. And I still have to find out how to use a custom dialpad. (I wish powerbyte used the original wm5 dialpad)

The different behaviour you noticed regarding the keypresses in the phone application is present in every wm6 / wm6.1 roms for the T830, since the first release of the wm6 beta. It's probably a change in wm6.

And actually I like it a lot: you can type the name of a contact on your keypad even without the phone app open and call it directly.

Forth day using WM6.
Everything seems very fine. I just miss a few small features from the original ROM:


FSC Key Lock
Shift Lock and Fn Lock icons on the systray (maybe it was FSC Key Lock showing them)
Support for Bluetooth stereo handsfree
Auto activation of numpad when it is neede (for instance, when entering the phone unlock code, or when dialing)
Something like FSCBackup (I don't know about you guys, but I feel very uncomfortable when I don't have a recent backup of my data; be it my hard disk, my movies and mp3 collection, or my PDA)
The New button in the messaging application (I'm not used to open a menu and choose New\SMS to write a short message)
Using * to silent the PDA

The programs in BETA9 ROM are really rich, and the only programs I have installed are Vito Active Trace (I bought it with the coupen that came with my T830), MyMobiler, SMSRDFix, and Slicks.
The PDA is very stable (more stable than the original ROM I guess), and I haven't had the problems I experienced every now and then with the Phone application. Thank you very much for your hard work, @powerbyte.:)

I'm still wondering if someone could tell me how can I embed an application in the OS. I'm thinking of embedding a very small GPS application that I have written for myself.

Something like FSCBackup (I don't know about you guys, but I feel very uncomfortable when I don't have a recent backup of my data; be it my hard disk, my movies and mp3 collection, or my PDA)


Didn't you mentioned that under: Start/Programs/Tools/ there is a PIM Backup already embeded in Beta 9?
Well, I am not so familiar what are its advantages against FSC Backup, but anyway it works. I have tested it.

PIM Backup does not look so reliable. Can it really restore my Windows folder?

Hi to all rom builders,

I have a very importan for me question: Is there is a chance some of new ROM versions to work with RAM memory more than 64MB. I know that factory settings of WM5 and WM6 are locked for this options. Some russian people made a patches for some PDAs like FSC N560. Is this can be done for T830 :(

Beta 9 is fast but i have some problem with BT high quality stereo .. with S9 headset. In WM5, 6 works :) fine but in 6.1 Build not :cool: working ..... any solutions ?

Hi all.
I've just installed Powerbyte beta 9 on top of Acubens flash from post #749. Restored backup and most of programs are working. But some problems exists, like Wireless Manager don't start from old location, as well as Remote Desktop. It is just preliminary and for testing, and I am going to flash it again and install programs from scratch.
But it would be excellent if we could have bare flash with only what is absolutely necessary for PDA to work so one could restore backup selectively from earlier version. Anyway we all have our favorite software we want on our precious devices, and it is a little bit annoying when you have hardcoded something you don't need and/or like.
The only thing I am missing so far is system tray.

hey guys
i'm really sorry but i could not manage to instal wm6 on my FJS. i flashed the phone with with flash tools that i downloaded from FJS page but nothing changer exept that i have a fresh copy of wm5 on my FJS. Then i replaced the old rom that i had on my SD card and made a cam btn + turn off btn +reset and restarted my phone and then it installed that ROM but the phone got stucked when sayin "rom installation DONE" and thats it. It idi not moved forward. Was i not waiting long enough, cause i waited about 20 min and nothing happend. Pls help

If we assume you have put the right ROM and you have strictly followed the instructions about it, I think you need another push of the soft reset button only. Usually, after the green bar is full (during flash up) more nothing happens.

The version from the title works flawlessly on my Beta 9.
Of course the GPS settings are as in the FSCT830 manual:

On device:
GPS Program port: None.
GPS Harware port: 6. baud rate: 9600.
Manage GPS automatically: checked.

In GM XT:
If asked: use intermediate GPS Driver.
Port 6.

You could check the assignment of the respective button first.

I tried out Beta 9. One major problem I have is that I cannot connect to any wireless network (I tried open network, WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK - none work). It always stays in connecting stage or it says that it cannot connect - please contact network operator (or something like that). Maybe someone knows solution? I looked in Advanced Config Tool and there was WPA Authentication Disabled. I enabled it but still does not work.

Second issues is there is no FSCLock. How to lock keys without that??

I have one big problem with Beta 9.
Sometime I have fade off (switch off) screen and I can not receive calls (caller have a ringing tone, but T830 doesn't ring).

When I use FSC Profiles and profile "Max Battery" - then I have problem on my phone- it fade off (switch off) screen immedietly!

Maybe this profile "Max Battery" have a problem because I'm using "Advanced Config" from Programs/Tolls and in "Advanced Config" submenu "Power Management". In that "Advanced Config" menu I have enabled power savings from SD/MMC card slot and other functions.
Sometime when I have this problem I can back screen with long press Enter, then with press any button I got "unlock" screen.

I'm using lock with long press "Enter" key and Spb Mobile Shell.

Now my battery with 3060mAh can power PDA about 3 days, and original battery about 1,5 days (with using at phone mode- primary, with no GPS, WLAN and other functions), but original battery power T830 less than one day.
