So, I've had no problem with GMail on my Dash pretty much from the day I set it up. Pretty much the only thing I've tweaked is the setting for how often it checks my mail. But for some reason, about two weeks ago, I stopped being able to send mail. I can still receive messages, but I get a rather unhappy screen telling me that it can't find the GMail SMTP server, and asks me to make sure I have network coverage. I've got at least five bars, and I get the exact same result when I try to send messages via WiFi.

Before you ask, yes, I've got SSL turned on, and I also tried appending the traditional SMTP address (smtp.gmail.com) with Port numbers (smtp.gmail.com:587 and smtp.gmail.com:465), neither one of them made a difference. And I'm sure that smtp.gmail.com is the correct address to use, because I have the same address in my laptop settings and it has no problem with this.

Any idea what the cause is, or has anyone else experienced this problem?

I have the same problem. It worked fine for some weeks, but then suddenly stopped working.

Delete the gmail account. Add your gmail account(connected to internet) and allow the wizzard to get the email account setting automatically. By doing it it gets necessary settings.
*May be* this will fix the issue.

Yup, i had the same thing happen, and deleting the account and re-configuring (I did it manually) fixed it.

Hey I am having this identical problem on my Hermes, and have already deleted and re-added the account once. It fixed it for a while, but then it happened again. Unable to send due to unable to contact SMTP, check connections etc..

Any further thoughts? I don't want to have to continuously delete and re-add the account..

I'm also experiencing the exact same problem. Has anyone found a solution?
