I beleive those were SANDISK, not Samsung. And again, I don't think they are avail yet. Should be before Xmas.

Re: C4 or C6, does the Kaiser even take advantage of the C6 speed? i.e. I know it can read it, but can it read/write that fast to it to see the differencebetween C4 and C6? I've asked this and no one has answered it.

Looking at the cards at elite show that they are all Class 2.

Do a search on ebay, there are 6gb class 4 cards for about $70 (the same as elite class 2). But they are the first 8gb cards I have seen.

Thanks,

Bobby

Quite a poor economy of scale, its basically double the price of the 6gb card. More waiting :(

the top memory card is always overpriced, considering the nuisance of carrying one of those tiny things and exchanging it out, especially if your running programs off it, its worth it.

- Called elite electronix, they expect stock of the 8gb cards during the last week of october.

I contacted memorybits.co.uk (http://www.memorybits.co.uk/shop/micro-sd--transflash/sandisk-8gb-micro-sd-hc-transflash-card-plus-adapter-plus-micro-mate-card-reader!due-into-stock-start-of-nov!!-sdsdqr8192e11m/5531) in the UK and they said hopefully by 2nd November it will be in stock. Not a bad price at £55.

And still no answer to this question:

Re: C4 or C6, does the Kaiser even take advantage of the C6 speed? i.e. I know it can read it, but can it read/write that fast to it to see the difference between C2, C4, and C6? I've asked this and no one has answered it.

I mean, why wait or pay extra for a C6 if the TyTN II reader can't even sustain that speed?

IMHO, it doesn't really matter. If you want to xfer a large amount of data onto or off the card, the extra bandwidth will be useful.

Plus, I *always* try and buy the best quality part I can. For example, I own SD card camcorders too, and it is always best to put as fast a card as possible in those.

Jomo, I agree that performance and quality do count.

However, with Sandisk surely they only produce one 6GB micro SD card?? If this is the case, why don't you e-mail them about it and ask for the detailed spec?

I've tried contacting them but they've not replied yet.

Not to sure about the speed, bit I received mines today, and I love it. I see no speed difference in reading and writing on the tilt. Mines is the scandisk.

Anybody seen 8GB Sandisk's in the wild? I.E. at Best Buy or Verizon or anywhere? What class are they?

I *just* got my 6GB class4 from Amazon today... but I'd pay the extra for 8 if I didn't have to wait...

I have the Sandisk 6GB card. it's Class 4. My question is, if they come out with a Class 8 one later, can the TyTN II take advantage of the speed? I.e. What's the Kaiser's max speed? I'm sure the festest cards would still be readable, but not sure if it would perform faster than a Class 4 if the Kaiser is the "bottleneck".

As for 8GB, I don't think they are generally avail yet, esp not in the US. I wouldn't expec tot see those available via US mail order til about mid Nov at least, and in stores like BB and CC? Not til next year I bet. They don't even have 6GB cards yet in places like Best Buy, Circuit City, and Fry's Elex...

Not sure where I read this, but IIRC the 8GB SanDisks are supposed to be class 6. Makes sense, since I've had a 4GB class2 and a 6GB class 4 -- faster speeds are more important with larger capacities.

As for availability, Elite Electronix were expecting a shipment last Friday (the 26th) but it didn't arrive -- I've had one on order for a couple of weeks now.

Maybe I missed something here on Elite's web site. The discription on all the SDHC cards say C2, but some of the stock photos of the 6 & 8gb have C4 on the card. What gives???

6GB & 8GB MicroSD cards are only available in Class 4 format, while 4GB cards are available in Class 2 & in Class 4.
Sandisk have added the 8GB cards now to their website alongside the other collection of MicroSD cards, however, when you go and check device compatibility for the TyTn II they say that the max capacity that it handles is 6GB (it might be that info is old when they only had the 6GB card as the upper limit card on the website or it might be a true fact) so can someone please confirm or deny?

from where did you order your card? as there isn't any class 6 microsd cards out yet and I've done a search after your post and found nothing.
Unless you are talking about SD and not MicroSD which is a whole lot different story.

says class 2

• High storage capacity (8GB) for storing essential digital content such as high quality photos, videos, music and more
• Optimal speed and performance for microSDHC compatible devices
• Speed performance rating: Class 2 (based on SD 2.00 Specification)
• High Quality microSDHC card backed by 5 year limited warranty
• Built to last, with an operating shock rating of 2,000Gs, equivalent to a ten-foot drop ** (**Based on SanDisk internal testing)
• Easily transfer files between your digital devices and computer
• High speed USB 2.0 certified reader/writer for fast data transfer

when I purchased my 6 gig card I chose the class 4 card. They also had them in class 2.

@kms
Why didn't you mention where you are getting your card from? or please post a link.

@Troyboy
The press release from SanDisk states that the 6GB and the 8GB MicroSD cards are adhering to the Class 4 standards and there is no mention of Class 2 at all, and if you go to SanDisk website and check you will find 6Gb & 8Gb cards only in Class 4 format.

I just got the adata 4GB class 6, I did a test which includes sandisk 4GB class 2, toshiba 4GB class 4, kingston 4GB class 4 and the adata 4GB class 6, the adata has the fastest read/write speed out of them all.

i'm at work now, when I get home I will post on a new thread the test results, since this is a 8 GB thread.

for ppl who wants to know where to get the adata, unless you live in hong kong, there's no point for me to post on this forum.

BTW

you can now buy the 8GB class 4 directly from the sandisk web site.

I've clicked on the sandisk site link, and it takes me to the 8gb microsdhc info page. But when I click on the "Buy Direct" I either get an error message saying there's something wrong with their page or I get sent to this page https://www.esend.com/sandisk/Default.aspx which has no link or way to order the 8gb microsdhc.

Bummer, can't even buy it from the manufacturer! I wonder what that says about when others will have it.

So I clicked on buy direct and it takes me to their products page...then I click microsd and this it what I get: The largest microsd available is 1GB for 29.99, so it seems they are out of stock as well.

I may buy this to hold me over until the 8GB is widely available.

I copied the 8GB part number from Sandisks site: SDSDQR-8192. I googled that and found three sites that offered it for less than 113.00 two sites offered it for 105.00 but unfortunately no stock! Mobileplanet expects it 25NOV!
