New HTC Duo Touch Apps for our..... Elfs, Artemises and whatnots.

Im did not make these Apps, I didn't even make them Work (just parts).
This thread is another good example of the good people roaming XDA helping out where they can to get the newest stuff on Phone's that might never see these apps officially.
So please think about the free time people spend in doing this and think about that only constructive and elaborate explanations of problems can help get you a better app. Or even better maybe a solution;)

It works, almost.

Once you map "lock" to the long press, it seems that no other settings you try will overwrite it.

Used SoftKey to restore Contacts rather than EndKey on the screen, but EndKey is still in control of the long keypress on the right hardware key.

Tried to un-install from Settings, couldn't complete the uninstallation.

Lock is the default behaviour for Longpress of Right SoftKey ;)

So setting Endkey up for that behaviour is pretty useless.

Yes you remove it from the Remove Software list (Post before that)

Nope Un installed great here, but you probaply meant that it kept the Longpress of Red Key still locking device with that.

Installed this app on my touch but i'm not sure why i should'nt remove it?

The airplane mode is'nt used that much by 99% of the touch owners, to lock the device we have the red phone button, to terminate a connection one could use the icons on the top bar, the vibrate function can be easely accessed when you have the 5 or 6 tab home (see last screenshot) and finally the settings wont allow you to customise it (yet)?

I totally agree it's a useless app, but you know how some people can be, they always want the newest. And i think officially it's suposed to replace the long press of Red Phone button An the ither hand the right soft key set to contects is also a totla waste of softkey button ;).

Oh and for the previous post, there are no cab's, believe me i would have posted them first thing.

Ot the moment the Duo Touch doesn't have Ext Rom like Kaiser it seems. Which mean most of the extra apps are not installed from ext rom, which means no cabs. It's just a challenge to get them out before HTC releases it ;)

I really hpoe the keyboard is possible to port.

And no i don't have acces to a Duo. I'm actually someone comes with a solution and mybe some devopers figure out how to chenge the functions.

Ringtone of 2 clicks vs 2 clicks.
Airplane 2 clicks VS 2 clicks but endkey is faster. (faster even when its mapped to red button)
Vibrate 2 clicks VS 2 clicks but endkey is faster. (faster even when its mapped to red button)
LongPress 1 hold vs 2 Clicks.
Terminate Connections 2 clicks vs not working (again hope that by putting up what i have that somone finds out why)

It's not super usefull but it's new.
Also don't like the fact that it doesn't run from SD as it looks for graphics in Windows Folder and it again fills up windows with even more files.

The big thing I'm looking forward to from the Dual is the new zooming/fat button taskbar. Hopefully HTC will carry that over to the regular Touch too.

Anything that'll help keep the stylus in its slot is a big deal to me.

There is a german version of Keyboard to BTW

But at the moment i din't think that putting a lot of time into an actual cab installer was worth it as the Keyboard just isn't finished yet.

That's why i wrote
If some one wants to create CAB's go ahead.

You could also just trow all files into windows directory and add the Registry settings manually found in the rgu file but i would advise it.
(unless you like doing this of course)

... mmh.. well.. it is working but there are some ... weird things !
I'd like to know if you have the same issue with the ENGLISH keyboard.
(I have both English and French keyboard.. it's nice... I just have to switch language when I want to write in french or english :p greaaat).

There is no french dictionnary .. "weiiird" preloaded... so it reacts like the 123 keyboard and I have to choose "new word" all the time.. to create every word ! I have not the same issue with the english dictionnary .. WEIRD ! I don't think I need a file for that.. but maybe there is something I need to change in RGU but I don't see where... grrr.

I have put the Keyboard as default Sip and guess what... it causes issue ! grr... when I have put it as default .. both Keypad and Keyboard were not usable... (no xt9, abc and 123 choice.... just the "Sym" mode and can't go back to other mode... GRRRR) but in fact....I'm not sure that the issue comes from there.. because it appears after a soft-reset... and guess what ... the next soft-reset has no issue... and the next soft-reset makes the issue appears again GRRRR what the fuck ?

But ...... there is something REALLY annoying with the keyboard is that I just have 3 buttons in the "Sym" mode ... yeah....
"shift" (bottom left) "sym" (at the bottom center) and "<-" (at the bottom right) ..... i have (.. let me count that) ... 34 empty buttons ! why???? .. I have the same issue with French and English keyboard...

I need more tests... but I'm not sure if I can solve those issue.. but when the keyboard is working it's reallyyyy nice !

Can you test the "sym" button and see if you get the sym panel working perfectly ? thanks !

The only issue we have found is that HTC hadn't added the Qwerty lay out yet.

So when you open the keyboard in explorer mode you get a blank lay out.

The reason i haven't made a cab for this is because it isn't finished and i don't want to do the tedious job of putting all the registry keys into a cab that people will complain about. I tried to do some workarounds but it doesn't help.

But it is working great bsides that.

Also i'm cleaning my kitchen up which has more priority. If you need the rest of ther lanuages give me a holler.

It seems to be the .NET applications. Try using it in mail or internet explorer. What phone are you using?

I am using a HTC touch, no matter what application I am in it is blank, it doesnt matter what mode the keyboard is in either, I tried to switch between the 2.

Do I need to use the files form the first post? If so where do they go? I am guessing under the windows folder maybe.

Yeah the work wasn't hard at all. I was actually able to import the .rgu file into my cab maker, and it did all of the work for me :D. PM me if you need any help with this. The keyboard is buggy, so I will wait for your instructions. Thank You Again

That's sounds like a little magic Cab maker i'm very interested in. As i can make little cabs out of every little peace of Standard Apps.

I'm stripping the registry man.

I'm now starting to take every peace of registry into the EOM folder it belongs leaving the hives as clean as possible.

Now if only can get Autorun to run from Storage Card. People would almost be able to just make their personal Fake Ext Rom from storage card with cabs just with just the NEEDED dll files for windows folder and the ergistry settings. The rest of course is allready installed on Storage Card. So believe me when i say i'm working to the best of my knowledge on a vanila rom that's so vanilla as vanilla can be.

I'm trying to make two Packages for all my OEM packages one SD one MM.

And if flash player 7 can work in IE from card......

Thanks for the wonderful work guys! I got it working flawlessly on my Titan after copying all language files from Noonski's more.zip into my windows folder and soft reset. I get no more blank keypad on textless pages :)

Unfortunately yes, I'm sorry to report I spoke too soon. It seems if the keypad is brought up by a text entry, it then comes up fine on textless pages. But if you soft reset and bring it up on a textless page first, it comes up blank :(

anyway to use the hardware keyboard as it is and not have the popup for predictive words? when in landscape the sip selected is actually CE star but with the HTC Touch keypad installed, the predictve box pops up.. not sure if it's an issue but the keypad looks great and i do want to use it on my tytn :p sorry i know this is an elf thread

2. Then just manually add/change these registry keys to replace your default Contacts.

You get these letters Slide menu on the right side of Contacts.

The RandomAccess addon is pretty neat! Got it to work. Thank you.
I had problems until I realized that you have to uncheck the alphabetical listing checkbox in contacts options. Now everything works like a charm :D
But I also noticed 2 minor things. First one is the search field in the contacts app, which flashes every couple seconds and the other thing is that the Touchflo scroll thingy doesnt work either if you have the new index on the right side. But I guess it's a feature since you get much faster and more accurate to the contact you look for with the new method :)

Just an FYI This is a beta release. There are bugs with the keyboard popping up blank.

Oh, sh**! This works great for me on my Mogul.

BTW. The "bug" only happens when there's nothing to type.

I have HTC mogul, I copied all more.zip files into \windows directory and nothing happened but when I went top options and checked turn on one-touch eymbol entry, now its fully working everytime I open it :)

Edit: nevermind it works only when it want to, the bug still there an somehow when I go to option and check the t9 then it works sometimes not

Yeah, I noticed that too. BUt to be honest you dont need the Touchflo there. I think the new method gets you faster to the contact you looking for instead of "scrolling" for it the whole time ;)

yes agreed...I prefer 'abc' as default rather 'xT9' as my text input for sms
usually some short form text and T9 enble not suitable for my case.

This app is included into some cooked ROMs. It means, if I'm not wrong, that the developers also knew the reg settings required for the proper functioning of the app.

So, we have the files (downloadable from this theread), some have the settings. Using both it's possible to make a cab.

But I myself cannot do that, because
1. I don't know the reg settings,
2. I have never made a cab so far, I'm a simple user...

It ain't a full rom dumpit's an early build of the software. It just wasn't finished completely yet.

rgu is the same as the cab provided earlier. You have system files and BT settings in your zip that shouldn't be there. People should be careful before copying everything over to windows folder.

I coocked it into my rom
so I did not use any regeditor

but there are some free regeditors that can me used

do this on pc

open the rgu file with notepad
replace (REGEDIT4) with this line (Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00)
save it a keypad.reg

then place the new reg file in the phone

extract this zip somewhere on the phone

find the reg fil and vola it's imported

the cab is about 3mb +, that is 2x more than the other cab posted.. not sure which files are for what..

Until someone cleans it up and makes a cab, the safest way to do it is from a hard reset. Copy all files provided by gullum to your Windows folder. Select NO for every file it asks you to to replace. Then download the cab posted by cool6324 earlier and install it. Worked for me and it also solved the qwerty keyboard problems from the previous attempt.

Outstanding problems are shifting to uppercase, and symbol weirdness. Press to hold for symbols is 95% there, but typing a word then doing a FN symbol does something odd.

thought i had the same problem when i tried it immediately after installing with resco explorer.

But when i used the keypad for SMS, it worked as intended.

I think you should choose the Touch Keyboard instead of the Touch keypad. In this way, you can use the 20-key Qwerty keyboard. As to turn off the Xt9, emm.. not sure how to do so. Maybe can remove all the 'check' from Xt9 setting so that it won't suggest you any word??

i've been following this thread and decided to try the keypad on my Kaiser... no luck. i assume this cab was made to be used for the Touch. if not, any suggestions to get it working on the Kaiser would be appreciated.

UPDATE: Got it fixed...had to install SIPChange to get it to work...

think so far no option to turn it off (ie its not a setting) but u can press the Action button of the D-Pad or the Enter key and the word you want will be selected but without the space..

This new cab works almost flawlessly on my Tilt (Kaiser). It's handy for text messaging without having to slide out the keyboard; which now works correctly with the new cab.

It does have one small problem still though. When using the hardware keyboard the 'Word Completion' no longer works when enabled. With the original cab, XT9 tried to kick in even if you were using the keyboard. It now only kicks in with the touchpads, which is great, and it disappears if you're using the actual keyboard (also great). The 'work completion' that came "built in" (not sure if this is on all Kaisers or if it is ATT Tilt specific) was handy with they keyboard but now it just seems dead when using the keyboard or any of the SIP's.

This app would be absolutely perfect if I could keep that working when I'm using the hardware keyboard and let XT9 do its thing when I'm using one of these touchpads.

Hang in there a few more weeks...not only is the Dual set to launch soon, there's the Telus and Sprint CMDA versions that have the new apps bundled.

And then there's soon to be released Rogers Wireless GSM version, which apparently keeps the 200mhz OMAP processor, but has 128mb RAM and a 850/1900 HSPA radio, along with the updated Touchflo interface..that model should be in people's hands next week...one of those people being me.

Anyone want a good deal on a well-loved vanilla HTC Touch? :)

Works brilliantly on my XDA Orbit (Artemis), running v4.2 of the B&B firmware (English/UK).

Only mild annoyance is that the text input window does not automatically scroll as you enter text, meaning after 4 lines you are typing blind unless you manually scroll down.

But this is exactly what is needed for text input on the non-slidey keyboard devices. :)

That's wierd. For my Trinity, it will scroll down.. or should i say, the 'suggested word bar' actually move upward and the next line kinda display between it and the keypad. Wierd too.. :P

I uploaded it here because I could not get it to work with my prophet in hope that it would work on ELF because it's the most similar to the touch dual device but now I know it's not working because I'm missing some file

Maybe its just me - but the application does not seem to release the memory it uses while running, upon exiting it.

Also, I don't seem to find a way to invoke the menu as shown in the portrait screencap. Cannot also delete a picture from the menu which comes up when I click on a displayed picture.

I have just a little problem sometimes when I scroll through the photos and tap on it to show the "options" - delete, add to contact,.... menu, the photo switches back to the first photo i clicked at the beginning of browsing.

Yes you need to edit the registry values you find in the RGU file like:
"Path"="\\windows\\notes.exe"
And you need to change the .BRN files by converting them using the Tools from the "How to Completely Customize your Touch Cube"

ok I've cleaned the keyboard oem pack up and it's fully working

touch dual keyboard has the english layout and italian works to as it's the same layout
It's fully working on my Prophet Touch IX beta3 rom

the extras are just the images for the keyboard layout for French, German, Spanish, Russian and Portugese

so if you wan't to have one of these languages just copy the images to the oem pack the regsetting are already in the pack

New HTC Duo Touch Apps for our..... Elfs, Artemises and whatnots.

Im did not make these Apps, I didn't even make them Work (just parts).
This thread is another good example of the good people roaming XDA helping out where they can to get the newest stuff on Phone's that might never see these apps officially.

Just a note about launching in portrait mode...The album gestures will remain portrait. In other words, if you rotate a picture and your phone to landscape, you will need to swipe UP/DOWN to flip through your pictures instead of L/R.

don't think so... mine just thinks and closes down on prophet touch viii.

Gullum is sure to be on the look for this one.

i'm guessing the problem is qvga incompatibility, not having the htc camera 4 or some sort of registry setting gone wrong

The Album seems to look for the settings that points at DCIM haven't looked at this as i just finished OEM for Album.

Can you guys test this

BTW album can be installed half into Storage and part in Memory.

The dll and MUI and Exe files can go to storage and the Skin files and graphics need to be in Windows haven't been able to Fool the skinfiles yet.
Still 50-50 solution for you Space hungry peeps.

Try launching directly from the exe. If you're in landscape, the album will launch in landscape mode and vice versa.

\Windows\HTCAlbum.exe

To modify HTC Home launcher, go to:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\HTCHome\Launcher\(album icon position number)
Change Path to \Windows\HTCAlbum.exe

Because if so it will really help me build a good SD oem and cab.

Anyone tried the OEM yet?
Check if i left anything out from RGU and Initflashes.

And yes GULLUm has patched the EXE file or the shortcut couldn't be pointing to a custom icon.

I always get errors when i try that.
That's probaply why i'm no developer ;)

Cab for Album even has three versions.....

Always try to check first thread.

Random acces can be installed mannually for now.
Just copy all files (or at least the graphics) to windows then create a shortcut to the exe file. (yes you can put it on storage)

I'm hoping someone can teach me how to patch the exe files so i can change the directory where it looks for the graphic and other shit like dll's

I'm not afraid to say this out loud just to feed my storage card addiction.

hey guys first off the htc album is a great program i absolutly love it n its all working on my us tmo wing running itje's touchit rom version 4.10.531.3 wwe i can open it with the cube n using the wktask launcher the only problem i have is that i like it better in landscaping mode than protrait but it opens up lefthandd instead of right ne1 have ne ideas on how 2 fix that? also eveything in the program works n i have it installed all on my storage card...i love this program!!!!!!

Same probs at my Touch :

if german layout selected, no words showing by tipping.
Both at keypad or keyboard.
Only numbers or symbols are working for now.

I looked into and i miss a "...german".ldb too.

Who has it and can share ?

On the HTC Album...
has anyone noticed if you go into a picture, use touch flo a bit and then come out with the arrow and select another picture further down in the thumbnail view it goes back to the picture you were on automatically?!

yeah there seems to have a little bug when working on a picture she is like "in a cache"... and when you work on another it seems to modify both the new and the old ones and you see the older that appears.. But you can try changing picture (next -> prev or prev -> next) .. it's not great but it's not too bad ... :)

and for information : use this app to add contact pictures .. because it keeps the quality of the picture .. that's not the case if you use the HTC Album :)

I was able to use schaps advance config to assiociate the jpegs with the htc album.

Yeah might be stupid thing i did was try and Asociate it with bmp's ;)

What should I check.. coz I can't find the app anywhere in Storage Card or Memory but I remember selecting storage card while installing from the cab.. I used the first cab (the one without the help files).. :\

Look for the HTCAlbume.exe & .MUI file and all the graphics start with ha_

The Exe or dll file is hardcoded to look for the skin.xml files in windows folder.

And althought the skin files are XML i haven;t found a way to point to different Dir.

That's why i'm amazed, as i know the installer cannot patch the skin files and ignores the Storage Card option as that is hardcoded to windows to.

I did however make a cab that installs two links one for Portrati and one for Links. It puts graphics, link to Help File and skin to Windows and the Exe and DLL and help file to storage.

It does however use the folder structure i use for my roms but that shouldn't matter. (Unless storage card has a different name because of your language.

Now uploading the file as it save 50% of the installation space to ROM.

There's this App Called SipChange somewhere on XDA.

For multi language support:
Install the cab. Get the latest OEM pack and language pack from Gollum
remove all the Dlls from the OEM pack, and replace the files in the windows folder with them
add all the files from the language file folder you want in the windows directory

Apply the attached reg using resco explorer or any other method. Soft reset and give it a try.

This OEM pack doesn`t include the german T9 word databases, it only contains the language files for the keyboard layout itself, so please can anyone share the german file ?

that very cool, I tried to move action screen folder to program files, when I click Action screen nothing heppend is that means that it didnt work in my htc mogul or I need a cab to install it?

I got HTC action screen working in my Elf, Steps:
1. download OEM package (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=55464)
2.unpack
3.copy all file into windows folder in Elf.
4.import registry as follows:
