Hi, first of all i want to say thanks to all the community. I unlocked and upgraded my G3 device thanks to this forum.
i have a friend who installed jpchme windows mobile 6 spanish rom over the previous rom (i don't know wich version was).
I told him he try to install 3.08 rom but the program didn't recognize any connection with the phone. My mistake....that's the problem.
And now his pda is stuck at bootscreen loader with IPL and SPL 1.08. But we don't know if it was a G4 or G3 device. I know....1.08 means it's a g3 device but is there any chance that the pda was a g4 device and when he installed windows mobile phone the ipl and spl appear as a g3 ?
What should he do ?
thanks

Hi, first of all i want to say thanks to all the community. I unlocked and upgraded my G3 device thanks to this forum.
But know i have a friend who installed 3.08 rom (for G3 devices) directly (without installing button rom before) and now he's stuck at bootloader screen. While the rom was installing it crashed and say connection error. Now we don't know what to do.
The IPL and SPL numbers are both 1.08 but he doesn't remember wich numbers appear before, so is there any way to see if it's a G3 or a G4 device in bootloader mode ?
thanks
Fortunately for your friend, yes there is. In bootloader mode, it displays your IPL and SPL. If they look like this, 2.xx then it is a G3. If it looks like this, 2.xx.xxx1 then it is a G4 and if he tried to flash IPL/SPL 3.08 which is STRICTLY for G3 devices, his device may be his new favorite paperweight.
Give this a try. Find and download his carriers latest Rom. Pull the battery out of the device and leave it out for about 2 seconds. Put the battery back in and then hold the camera button while pressing the power button. This will put your Wizard in bootloader. Flash his carriers latest official Rom and that should get him back to WM5.
Hopefully this works for him but if it doesn't then he may be screwed. On the other hand, if it does work for him, do him a favor and make him read read read before he tries to flash the phone again. I hate to see a Wizard turn into a paperweight because someone was too lazy to just read first.
Dan.

thanks for the answer! now it shows 1.08 IPL and SPL. But if he has an g4 device and flash with 3.08 rom wich is for G3 devices, what would IPL and SPL show ? are you sure that if it show 1.08 now it's a g3 device ?
oh, and here we don't have any support from carriers :D so can he install button 1.05, then 3.08 and then some windows mobile 6 rom ?
thanks

with IPL/SPL 1.08 it shud be G3 device, try to download official carrier rom from the website and flash in the boot loader mode,by carrier means, the rom which it came first pre installed with, which version of rom was installed before he flashed ipl.spl 3,8,was it t-mobile or cigular, that wud be the carrier rom, download from it's website and flash,or you may try to download t-mobile 2.26 or wizard_love_rom and flash,it may do the trick.good luck

'so can he install button 1.05, then 3.08 and then some windows mobile 6 rom ?'
well, if it's a G3 and it shows ipl/spl 1.08,then button's can be flashed, but make sure it's IPL and SPL both are 1.08.but if it's like IPL 1.08 and SPL 3.08,than I'm afraid,it had to be flashed with official rom to bring it down to first ipl/spl 2.xx---> 1.05.Don't directly flash button's 1.05 to bring it down to ipl/spl 1.05,it'll brick the phone.download the official rom or T-Mobile 2.26 which also is a stock rom and flash.

Ok relax,if ipl/spl 3.08 was flashed to a G4 device,it'll brick the device,it won't go into boot loader screen. As you say that it goes into boot loader mode, than cool down he's safe :) cuz due to different Os version being a spanish it had a bad flash, nothing to worry.but remember a G4 device will never show an ipl/spl 1.xx no matter what happens it always will show 2.xx.xxx1.
Just as I have told you to download official rom or T-Mobile rom and do the following :-
1. Make sure your phone is not Connected to the PC and remove the dummy card or SD/MMC card
2. On your Desktop PC, open Microsoft ActiveSync, then go to File >Connection Settings >Remove the Selection from “Allow USB Connection with this desktop computer”
3. Reconnect your phone to the Desktop PC using the USB Cable (Don’t use Bluetooth for the Upgrade)
4. Run the Upgrade again and it will work fine without any problems.
While upgrading, the ActiveSync program will not go on, however the upgrade is running.
Hope it'll work,good luck
