PS: This ROM is made of my Greek ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333709)by removing all greek support (mui files included). The strangest thing is that the Greek ROM has 19.27ΜΒ available storage after cold boot. That's exactly 2MB more free space than the english ROM!!! How is it possible to have less free space after removing some files? :confused:
That's why a second release took place. I wanted to see the available space with more apps installed. And yes, there is more free storage space. :)

Very strange indeed! Are you sure you haven't touched anything else between the two roms?
I might give it a go.

Just removed all *_Lang_0408 and *_Lang_0408_DPI_131 directories from the SYS folder (see Package Tool (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296861&)) and changed a couple of registry entries in some .rgu to the english language settings (0408 -> 0409).
Nothing else touched!!!! :confused:

That really doesn't explain the size increase, much less 2MB! Well, hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will crack that one up.
Installed your rom, seems nice, will need more testing to give a better opinion though. Thanks for releasing!

you are fast NitroGenious :).. congrats on the release. I don't have right now time to test.

i've experienced too this a while back. I've deleted a lot of files (I mean A LOT, about 10MB), that would logically bring more space, but in reality did not, it just reduced the amount of free storage space..
So you should fill the 2MB space with usefull apps, this theoretically will bring the 19MB free space back.
It's about the ROM partitioning (the ROM flash is shared between the OS files & Storage).. andot's should know more about this.
Usefull apps? HTC Streaming Media (andot's V6 has it, you can dump ROM and get the needed files & registry) , Easter Uninstaller (handy,as you probably knows, WM has a bug not showing the installed applications if the nr of them reach 50), IA File Manager, Tornado Low Light, and maybe Microsfot Voice Commander (don't know how much takes this application). or if the MS Voice Commander takes too much space, include wmv codecs (this will allow applications, such as TCPMP, to be able playing wmv). That's what I'm remembering right now.
Have you replaced the browsing files? If you copy the files as modules, you should run G'Reloc (if you allready didn't ) :D
BTW have you included the "Bluetooth Dial-up Networking" tweak ?
Also you could include also (but leave the default WM6 calculator cos it has some usefull functions, such as %, etc) the good old WM5 calculator, it loads way faster in memory, you only need calc.exe from a WM5 dump. Tell me if you need it :d.

Mind telling us how you did that?
Which drivers did you use?
Any registry tweaks needed for it?

In my experience, the empty icons in your programs list are due the small size of the new rom. In other words, they are leftover icons from your last rom.
Means you probably omitted the "format binfs" step.
Someone please smack me if I am giving wrong info.
I need to find my sda so I can try this one out, been addicted to the wizard lately.
Love seeing more people coming out with their own custom roms, keep up the good work!

Nice!
At last rom with MMS and SMS splitted into accounts.
Please consider making a vanilla - something a'la OEM without any third party programs :)
Great work

15th October 2007, 04:25 PM
More removed apps = less space available! Don't know why, but it's a fact (check previous page). So, we need the third party apps to have more available storage! :eek:
But, if you want a vanilla, I'll give you one... ;)

Nothing else is changed, nothing has been removed.
Please report free storage on cold boot. That's the main reason of this release; I want to see if the available free space is increased with more applications installed!

Hey NitroGenious! Thanks for all your expertise in getting these out.. A question.. Do you always test these ROMs before you release them? A couple of times it seemed like you didn't and were surprised by a few small bugs that people found.. I'm asking 'cause I am really afraid of hosing my SDA (it's my primary phone).

My feeling or something? The joystick is less responsive than in other ROMs around (andot's etc). The socalled empty icons maybe the program icons (fake cursor, BT router etc) that don't use image icon. They look like empty icons, but when pressed the icons really open the programs.

I used to have andot's ROM and the the Greek ROM I use new (same core) ROM seems faster and more responsive to me! Maybe it's VC and keylock that slow it down!
About the icons, well... the executables have no icon, that's why they do not appear. :)

I am just now giving this ROM a try; I previously was using the "WM6 For Tornado - HTC Edition V2 ROM" but I'm curious about this newer build.
Anyway, the only observation of "Second Release (recooked)" I have for now:
Like many other WM6 ROMs, it appears that DEFAULT.WAV is played during boot, which is a little annoying. My current workaround is to replace DEFAULT.WAV with a 0 byte file. ericjm apparently found how to correct this in the ROM itself, as it is fixed in the "WM6 For Tornado - HTC Vanilla Edition" ROMHow do I change the Camera button to invoke CAMERA.EXE instead of COOLCAMERA.EXE? When I change Short_Camera.lnk, both fire up.
Thanks for the ROM!
Kylexd
19th October 2007, 06:38 PM
Change Short_Camera.lnk and change HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Camera\Application to camera.exe.
NiTroGenious
19th October 2007, 09:43 PM
Or change the following key to prevent launching "internal camera shortcut" together with Short_Camera.lnk:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\KeyMap s]
"233"=dword:0(to restore, set the dword value of "233" back to "5")
BTW, if you prefer the good old Cyberon Voice Dial instead of MS Voice Command, just install this cab file http://rapidshare.com/files/63739865/Cyberon_Voice_Dial_by_NiTroGen.rar and long-press the Volume Down key to activate. For best results talk 2" after the sound, not immediately.

Sorry, mate. No vanilla ROM from me. I find it a waste of internal storage. If you know how to cook a ROM, you don't need a vanilla to create a custom one!
So this build is a newer one ?
Yes. It's version 5.2.1616 Build 18120.0.4.0. Phil's, Andot's and Ericjm's ROMs are version 5.2.318 Build 15341.0.0.1.

Good job NiTroGenious ;). I will try to flash the ROM tomorow.
PS: people just understand, VANILA/CLEAN ROMS will NOT bring you more free space < on the contrary the free space will be reduced (don't know why) > ...
..until someone find a solution to change the partition table of the ROM.. so it's a good idea to include useful applications to USE the avaiable, precious, ROM space & not waste it.

Are U sure U upgraded radio version? i did little 'research' - retuned to WM5 & old radio, than upgraded OS to WM6 without flashing radio. Phone calls were OK, GPRS was returning 'The remote party has ended this connection'. Than i upgraded radio and now everything is ok :)

bluetooth dun profile.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1351044&postcount=21
nitrogen you should include this in the rom.
also some other suggestions:
- include bluetooth explorer and bluetooth ftp profile (in andot's rom bt ftp can be configured via settings bluetooth. so it may be a cpl.xml file)
- remove coolcamera (not free product + can be installed to card)
- remove moblue, can be installed to card
- put back the original & oem apps to root of start menu. i know that you want them more organized, but it's faster to acces them directly from root. plus the windows mobile issue regarding icons fetching.. the folders does'nt open instantly
- mms network registry (the thing i've told you on the other topic)
- include also the good old small, simple and fast wm5 calculator (calc.exe). but leave mobilecalculator
- eventually remove windows ce libraries for freeing more space for htc media streaming
that's what i'm remembering right now

Thanks for all the advice. I'll try to implement your suggestions, but do not expect it in the near future. My primary ROM is the greek one and that's the one I'm currently working on. Unfortunately I do not have a second Tornado device for testing purposes, so all "development" is done on my primary phone. :(
So, as long as there are no serious bugs and all those changes can be made by the user (packages installation, link moving, etc), I think I'll leave this ROM aside for the moment.
BTW, can you attach the old WM5 calculator and pinpoint me the Windows CE libraries that can be removed?

Thanks for all the advice. I'll try to implement your suggestions, but do not expect it in the near future. My primary ROM is the greek one and that's the one I'm currently working on. Unfortunately I do not have a second Tornado device for testing purposes, so all "development" is done on my primary phone. :(
So, as long as there are no serious bugs and all those changes can be made by the user (packages installation, link moving, etc), I think I'll leave this ROM aside for the moment.
BTW, can you attach the old WM5 calculator and pinpoint me the Windows CE libraries that can be removed?
Still running this ROM on my primary phone. It runs very good for me.
Thanks for your hard work.

Doesn't work on i-mate sp5 en qtek 8310. Tytn II is complaning "no modem" found. Dial-up service is visable but there are drivers missing. Tried 4 times with the included modem files from the link above on several roms but only you're rom shows me the services but still it's not working. So again back to WM5.

First let me say this is a great build. If we never got another one I would be happy I switched from WM5. I have tried five other builds and this is my favorite. That said, there are a couple of things that would make this build even more fantastic.
One is that the comm manager is blue, even if the black theme is chosen. Is there any way to make the comm manager inherit the color scheme? I have seen it in blue and green on different builds and I would be surprised if the comm manager color scheme is hard coded.

I like the comm manager better than the wireless manager. Is there any way to make clicking on the first entry down on the home page (the one with the date, clock, network and wifi status) open the comm manager instead of the wireless manager?
I understand that the upper left hand side button opens the comm manager.

The green Communication Manager is a totally different version. It's not just a colour change. The resource files are different. So... Surprise!!!! :p

Have you specified an APN in "extra dial-string modem commands" ? (in Advanced tab, when you configure the BT conection)
You must write something like:
+cgdcont=1,"ip","your apn here"
And as the dial number, use *99#.
If I don't write that string in extra dial-string modem commands it give me an error about not finding modem or smth like that (don't remember exactly.. )

Wireless Manger is faster than CommManager. And it has a plus: it shows the active connection name. So, I prefer it in the Quick List.

I use a stereo headset with this build but I only hear callers in the left channel.
In some of the other WM6 builds I have installed, the Motorola S9 headset answers calls in stereo, ie I can hear the caller in both the left and right speakers. In others its only on the left. In this build it I can only hear on the left.
Anyone have a similar problem. Anyone know if there is a registry setting to change this?

It took me a bit to figure out that the 'Windows Mobile Black' scheme is actually gray and that 'black bars' is the black scheme. I think you ought to rename the 'Windows Mobile Black' scheme 'Windows Mobile Gray' and Black Bars to Black if you do another build. Anyway I have attached a verision of the black background image lightened 30%.

Hey NitroGen! I am finally jumping off Andot's PEE ROM and getting on yours. I have a problem though. I used Sprite Backup to backup my existing data. When I install your ROM and try to restore from the backup, I get the following problem: The SMS and MMS split is no longer visible. I now only see one tab called Text Messages, and my MMS messages in it no longer have the right format. What's the best way of restoring my SMS and MMS messages?
Please help! If I can't restore my messages, I will have to go back to the PEE version!! :(

Try to backup using a different software, such as PIM Backup (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705). These two ROMs have a different "message database" and just replacing one's database with the other's, isn't gonna work! A software which exports and imports the data is needed.

Thanks for the link to PIM Backup! I think this is exactly what I might need. One more thing. I have your ROM installed currently, and I see that there's no entries to change the startup and shutdown images. While I totally understand why you might want to release a ROM with your own custom screens, wouldn't you think the user should have the ability to change them if needed? ;)
I tried to look in the usual registry spot, and didn't see it. Let me know if it's impossible to change these images. Thanks again!!

Thanks for being so helpful. I've tried all that I could think of, but I could not get PIM Backup to work. With that, not even one SMS or MMS made it through. I even tried rebooting a few times. So it looks like I'm stuck. Which kinda makes me mad because I would like to try out other options. If I didn't have 200 some messages, I wouldn't even bother with it. If you know of any other pieces of software, let me know. Otherwise, I will keep looking around.
Thanks!! :(

bipinsen, I'm sorry for not being able to help you. Did you try a google search about "Windows Mobile Smartphone SMS backup (http://www.google.com/search?&q=Windows+Mobile+Smartphone+SMS+backup)"? There is also an option to store your SMS in your Outlook messages using Jeyo Mobile Extender (http://www.jeyo.com/extender.asp).
By the way... This is the application (HP iPAQ DataConnect) from HP iPAQ 514 that sets the Internet/WAP/MMS settings for ALL operators around the world. ;)
http://rapidshare.com/files/65992342/HP_iPAQ_Data_Connect_by_NiTroGen.cab
It's tested on my Tornado and it works fine! :)
Unfortunately it must be installed in \Windows directory and it's about 300 files, occupying a total of 2MB! Just install it, run it, select your Country and Operator and uninstall it to regain these 2MB.
Warning! After the installation, my system became unstable and I had to reboot. If it will happen to you, do not remove the battery, just turn off and on the phone to flash the filesystem cache. This instability is normal because there are a lot of small files installed making the filesystem cache crazy!!!!
If you get a "SIM Error" with DataConnect then run MMISyncApp and rerun DataConnect! I don't know why this happens, but that's how it is solved.
Yes, I know this app is a little pain in the a$$, but it surely works! :D
Hmm... Maybe I should include it in my next ROM... :rolleyes:

Ok... So I managed to get all my SMS messages saved and backed up using Jeyo. I manually saved the pictures from my MMS messages, so I don't care about those anymore. I've started testing the ROM, and will add some observations as I find them (editing this post). So.. some observations in no order of importance:
1. Nitro showed how to change the splash images, but it looks like the reference to the images is hard-coded in the ROM. In Andot's ROM you had the option to reference to any image in the registry. So I had a nice animated Windows Mobile GIF. Now I have to stare at a static image while the phone boots up.
2. I don't much care for CoolCamera. For one thing, it doesn't want to save images in their own folders. I like that option because it makes file maintenance easier than one folder with a 100 files. Also, it uses the joystick for taking pictures. The Tornado is a candybar phone, and holding the phone with the thumb twisted halfway to the joystick is pretty awkward.
3. The joystick seems more responsive than PEE.
4. Screen refreshes *seem* a little slow.
5. I wish there was a Reboot option in quick list.
EDIT:
6. In call volume was very low
7. Showstopper: My phone is stuck with the backlight turned permanently on. Keylock is working since it locks just fine, but I didn't touch any of the backlight settings, so I'm not sure why that is stuck on.
RESULT: Sorry Nitro! Since I can't explain #7, I'm going to test EA's ROM, and if I find similar issues, it's back to PEE. I have used that for several months with no problems.

Thanks for you're help but no go! I even get my hands on a SPV C600, upgrade to wm6 english, installed WM6-dun, paired the two devices but he same fault as with the SP5. Extra dial sting is not presented in WM6 so i think you are dialing in with an older device. I even tryed to add the dial string directly in the registry off the Tytn II but now i get another error. So it had something to do with this string. Maybe you can give some more info about you're setup?

Don't know about the joystick. I used to have andot's ROM and the the Greek ROM I use new (same core) ROM seems faster and more responsive to me! Maybe it's VC and keylock that slow it down!
About the icons, well... the executables have no icon, that's why they do not appear. :)

The main speaker does work as I can hear the sounds through the sounds menu in the settings menu. I am I missing something? cheers

Hey never mind, it is working now. The fault was something in the plug hole where the headset plugs in. I stuck in a paper clip and manged to pull out all sorts of dust bunnies! So for anyone with sound not coming out of the main speaker, check the plug.

If you need some registry tweaks, you can find them here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324416). But implementing them in the Control Panel (Settings) is not as easy as it seems.
The Control Panel is a batch of .cpl.xml files with a specific format. You must study them to get the whole concept.
For example, to change the string registry value HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech\ModelFilePath you need the following xml code in the .cpl.xml file:<characteristic type="Registry">
<characteristic type="HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech">
<parm-query name="ModelFilePath"/>
</characteristic>
</characteristic>But how the control panel recognizes the "ModelFilePath" variable, its type, its translation in every language? You have to define it in a .provxml file, eg. mxip_cold_OEMDRIVERS_100.provxml<characteristic type="Metabase">
<characteristic type="Registry\HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech\ModelFileP ath">
<parm name="datatype" value="string"/>
<parm name="rw-access" value="3" />
<parm name="access-role" value="190" />
<characteristic type="label">
<parm name="0409" value="Path:"/>
</characteristic>
</characteristic>
</characteristic>As you can see, there is a lot of new code for every new setting implemented in the Control Panel. And the string type is the easy one.
My advice is to study as hard as you can the .cpl.xml files together with mxip_cold_OEMDRIVERS_100.provxml. It's not as difficult as it seems. But be careful. Any small mistake can easily render Control Panel (Settings) unusable!

Hello Nitrogenious,
I tried asking this in General, Dev and Hack but quite a few views and no answers (hoping you will know)...How do you change (in the ROM) the locale (regional) settings on the initial setting screen after the phone flash?...What registry or file changes are made to the ROM to change this locale setting?
Example...EST time/location instead of say Istanbul (I think that is the time/place of your ROM, I can't remember:)). Where do you look to tweak these changes? I am not talking about scrolling to set these changes I want to cook in my desired location for initial setup :) .
Also, do you know how to set an action code for the key codes?...(example I want to change the action code #4--fast key-lock (hard coded in your ROM) and set it to commanager) to allow for different choices for tweaking.
P.S. I hope it is okay I ask this in your thread :).
Once again, thanks for everything.

Sorry, for not replying, I'm lost in all those questions and missing a couple of them is quite possible. :p
These are the changes you need to make for changing the default regional settings:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\MUI]
"CurLang"=dword:409
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\nls]
"DefaultLCID" = dword:409
"SystemLCID" = dword:409
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internationa l]
"LCID"=dword:409
"ACP"=dword:4e3
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\International]
"Default_CodePage"=dword:0000fde7
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Clock] <--- TIMEZONE KEY (I think)
"TZIndex" = dword:55 <--- Find your timezone code by changing it from settings and viewing registry ;)
Here are the action key commands:
Key codes:
195 - Volume Down
196 - Power button
198 - End Button
233 - Camera Button
234 - Comm Manager
Action codes:
1 = launch Voice Tag
2 = launch Quickapp
3 = keypad-lock
4 = fast keypad-lock
5 = launch Camera
0 = do nothing
Default HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Keymaps values:
"196"=dword:2 ; Launches Quick access menu

Hi NiTroGenious,
good work. Nice and fast ROM. I'd have several suggestions:
- Use wince.nls from WM5 ROM for long months names.
- Use SIM toolkit stuff from WM5 ROM, i think its better
- You put into ROM SMSDRFix version for PocketPCs. I've other version for Smartphones. Included version does its work somehow, but Smartphone version is much better..

[/code]Here are the action key commands:
Key codes:
195 - Volume Down
196 - Power button
198 - End Button
233 - Camera Button
234 - Comm Manager
Action codes:
1 = launch Voice Tag
2 = launch Quickapp
3 = keypad-lock
4 = fast keypad-lock
5 = launch Camera
0 = do nothing
Default HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Keymaps values:
"196"=dword:2 ; Launches Quick access menu
"198"=dword:3 ; Keylocks device when user is on Home screen
"195"=dword:1 ; Launches voice tag recognition
"233"=dword:5 ; Launches camera applicationAs far as I know CommManager is lauched only by shortcut file and there isn't one for the End button. So, there is a limited number of available combinations for the hardware keys.
How have you managed to set the keys Volume Down and Up
to activate some apps:
"
Long Volume Up: Voice Notes
Long Volume Down: MultiFlashLight
"
but most interestingly EVEN WHEN the PHONE-LOCK is intact?
I would like to have such set - with such a difference that not Voice Notes - but Vito Audio Notes instead...
What should be done for that purpose - to have these keys active also when a phone is locked?

@ialail:
I don't know the key code for Volume Up, but there's a trick to use Vito Audio Notes instead of Voice Notes: Change HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:MSTNOTES\1 from :MSPOUTLOOK notes to the Vito Audio Notes executable fileor shortcut. ;)
The Volume Down tweak is easier: Set HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Keymaps/195 to 0 (disable internal shortcut) and copy Multiflashlight.lnk to Long_VolDown.lnk. :)
By the way, Keypad Lock means that the keypad is locked - no keys are active!!! :p
@oromeo:
Retry downloading without delaying! That's why the session is expired. ;)

By the way, Keypad Lock means that the keypad is locked - no keys are active!!! :p
But I meant not keypad locked BUT the phone locked!!
i.e. the option when the password is required to have any access to keay or whatever
When I used your ROM I have experienced the LONG Volume Up or Down keys were fortunately active despite the phone was locked!!!
And IMHO it was very good as some very selected functions/applications SHOULD be accessible INSTANTLY ANY TIME! (no password should block them! - while anything else SHOULD INDEED!)
So, if these VERY SELECTED KEYS worked in your ROM and they didn't in e.g. vjgrace's ROM - HOW did you achieve this!?! ;>

it doesn't work for a shortcut :(
it works only for an executable's path (embraced in quotes)
but how to submit here command line options? (this wouldn't be an issue if links were recognized in the Registry value above...)

Sorry, my mistake! :o
So, if it this VERY SELECTED KEYS worked in your ROM and they don't in e.g. vjgrace's ROM - HOW did you achieve this!?! ;>
Well, it's really vjgrace's achievement to disable them. He should add this to the "feature" list; Phone Lock fixed!!!! :p
Let's compare the HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Keymaps registry keys:
Key NiTroGen's values vjgrace's values
"135" 1 1
"195" 0 1
"196" 2 2
"197" 0 0
"198" 3 3
"233" 5 0
"234" 1 0There's nothing suspicious here. The only difference is that I use the shortcut file for long Volume Up, vjgrace uses the internal shortcut; I use the internal shortcuts for CommManager and Camera, vjgrace uses the shorcut files. And there's nothing about long Volume Up, which triggers the :MSTNotes internal shortcut. I think we have a dead-end!
I don't know where else to look for these changes. :confused:
it doesn't work for a shortcut

but how to submit here command line options? (this wouldn't be an issue if links were recognized in the Registry value above...)
I've never tried it with a shortcut; thanks for the feedback. If you look carefully the default :MSTNotes\1 value, you'll see that the command line options are submitted the normal way: ":MSPOUTLOOK notes". ;)

so, could you please put here an example statement for VitoAudioNotes?
the preinstalled shortcut in Start Menu that triggers "quick record" is as follows:
136#\Storage Card\Program Files\VITO\AudioNotes\AudioNotes.exe,0
(note the zero in the end of line!)
How to LITERALLY transfer this to the Registry value you provided?
As I mentioned previously a path with spaces must be in quotes, so where this exotic command line option ",0" should be attached?
I tried these:
"\Storage Card\Program Files\VITO\AudioNotes\AudioNotes.exe,0"
"\Storage Card\Program Files\VITO\AudioNotes\AudioNotes.exe",0
and both didn't work...

"233" 5 0

Long vol-down is supposed to activate voice commands, btw. Long home shouldn't do anything at all, it's like pressing a pc app button and hovering mouse away while pressed not to trigger the button.

Dude, what's wrong with having additional USEFUL stuff, let me make it clear for you, the real SHITS are removed to make way for better APPLICATIONS. If you have read through the forum, you know that removing those stuff would not give extra space.
If you don't like those function, freaking stay with WM5 ! Don't you know how useful is it for Long_Home to be mapped to Celetask? Since most application are not closed properly but stay in the memory, we need to constantly clear the memory. So isn't it practical to map a frequently accesed program to Long_Home?
If you have read through, you would also know that you can remap those hardware keys in the settings in the latest 3.4 ROM

Quite right.
If you don't like this ROM, search the forum for "vanilla", beg whoever supports your handset for a "proper" ROM update to WM6, or learn to cook your own.
Reporting bugs is useful, complaining because it's made to someone else's specs and then graciously made available for others is not useful or welcome.
Instead of complaining, you could just change the longvolumedown link parameters on your own; it would have taken about as much time as being a whining ingrate took.

Wow. So many "polite" people here. Rom makers try to "sell" (for free) as many copies as possible, the more people use it, the better they feel. It is not that hard to cook a rom. Cooking a rom takes time. And the fact that someone has decided to spend some time on cooking a rom doesn't mean that there can be no negative comments at all.
Someone has said not to use the ROM. Firstly, it's not his personal business whether i will use the rom or not. People dare to say things like that only in cyber-space, because they don't have noses there. Secondly, if ur curious, i most definitely will not use ROM which bundles many useless applications. If people think that flashing a phone twice a week is normal, then they don't take it seriously enough. I'm using Vanilla edition because i believe that I am perfectly capable of deciding which applications I do need and which ones not, which stock features and button mappings I want to keep original and which not. It's just that Vanilla edition is kinda forgotten: new builds of bloatware ROMs are being made, serious bugs are being fixed there while Vanilla is forgotten.
It's funny how easily u guys can be provocated. It wouldn't be a surprise if u were some angry americans who all think the same. And i'm not being rude at all. Let's see how about u ;)

Positive comments are very much welcome but you MUST mind your language to be accepted by people not only at this forum but elsewhere too. Most of your responses to this forum always contain 4 letter words which I personally cant tolerate and I believe others too. If you think we are all Americans here then it's proof you have not really got to know this forum well. Sit back, relax and think… it reflects on you when you use profanity.

@pauliusba
No. They aren't trying to "sell" their ROMs literally or figuratively.
Read the text of most cooks' first ROM uploads and they say very clearly that they are just sharing what they made for themselves.
With encouragement, they continue, with further encouragement they even fill requests.
They are generally doing this for free. They may get some donations, but generally they don't get anything except maybe the simple rewards of hacking or the warm fuzzies from appreciative people. You were not appreciative and deserve nothing except the same rudeness you offered.
This ROM was made to Nitro's specs and anything more was put there by a consensus of requests. As one lonely opinionated butthole who can't speak constructively, there's no reason your desires should be met.
Maybe if you offer him a sizable donation he will fill your request.
But most of us wouldn't want what you want anyway. There is only so much space can be saved/used. If everything you considered "bloat" was stripped out and left, and everything we, and Nitro, consider MS bloat was stripped and left out, the ROM would actually be bigger, with less free space. So there's no benefit.
Why don't you just cook your own vailla ROM and find out for yourself?

Your first comment was offending, and let me make it clear with you, having those application would not SLOW DOWN your phone AT ALL ! And does having Long_Home mapped to Celetask ANNOYS you? You can simply ignore the presence of this software.
Even if you are right infront of my face, it is the same thing I will tell you. And they are not useless applications, not even one. Only useless user will not use them. Oxios Hibernate, ever use it before? Know the uses? They can clear memory better than Celetask. Since when people flash their phone twice a week? As for me, I waited for about a month before flashing to 3.4, and that was after my phone came back from the service centre.

HOME_LONG mapping does indeed annoy. I use some of the applications included but I like to install them by myself. Because NOT ALL OF bundled are needed. Some of them do map keys (flashlight,..) so are not so neutral to general usage experience. And i don't want others to decide which applications are good for me and which should I have. I don't mind installing my applications on my own to my storage card. Flashing my phone is a major event. First flash was the alpha, then beta, then alpha again, then vanilla (when it became available) to this day.
I hope that Vanilla comes back.

Just pretend that the Long_Home does not exist, don't hold the button. Like mentioned earlier, it makes no difference having them removed, you would not get even 1byte free, and it will not slow down your phone at all.

Is it my phone or is it the ROM?
My phone seems to hung almost once a day. People call me, they say the phone is ringing but it does not!
When I unlock it and try to make a call it crashes and requires a soft reboot.
Anyone else having this problem, or my device have issues? (Although Phil's rom never crashes!!!)

Did you try to hard reset your phone? Why don't you try the greek ROM? ;)
Happy new year to all. I'm sorry for my long absence, but my ISP gave me a great holiday gift: disconnected my ADSL line a month earlier. So I have no internet at home! Also I ran into some problems while cooking the new ROM (the Sound settings keep crushing and I cannot find the reason), that's why the release is delayed!
Anyway, please don't think that I have abandoned you. :p (The actual abandonment will take place in a month from now, when I'll join the army :( )

this just happened to me a couple of minutes ago. It's not the first time. It happen v. rarely, but it happen. I think it has to do with this OS build (not Nitro's customizations).
Are you using Automatic Keylock ?
Today, while I was listening to the music, the music stopped suddenly and phone crashed (the signal led was still flashing though ). when i've pressed the keys, all that come out was the screensaver from Automatic Keylock. crashed..

Follow this (http://karhoe.byethost33.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=21) guide step by step.
P.S.: If during the process (usually after Step 8) your phone doesn't connect to activesync unplug and then replug the USB cable.

I was using WiFi all day yesterday on my Tornado and now whenever I ActiveSync (I'm using 4.5 and it's always worked flawlessly) I get the
activesync Support Code 85020006
error and the device says "The Internet connection is not configured properly. Please verify your Connections".
Pocket IE is set to Auto Detect and use "The Internet". I changed ActiveSync so the pass-through uses "The Internet". I'm pretty sure something is hosed on the Tornado and not on my laptop. Has anyone seen this before?
