From their FAQ:

Q4.I only want to use AOL. Why do I need Google account?
Ans: Now you can do without a Google account. In the Login Information screen of OctroTalk, select Register new octro.net account. Enter your username and password and select Ok. Now you are all set to use AOL account. Go to Menu -> Legacy Accounts and configure your AOL account.

Q13. Is your application compatible toT-Mobile T-zones.
Ans: No. OctoTalk does not work withT-Mobile T-zones.

Well, if you would have read the posts before commenting, you would have known that the software does not require Google Talk for AIM users. Something I wasn't aware of as it was not a feature when I tried the software out before.
