it merely refers to a ROM that comes only with standard applications; no third party branded software is included. :)

statup screens are the same with V2.

well i guess maybe you just have to get them from the dump of your current ROM. :rolleyes:

All the MUI files for the german language, I use the VA_ALPHA ROM posted by fryrice one of the faster ROM I ever used.

i agree with you mate but unfortunately i wasn't able to use it as a base ROM. :(

anyway, i have dumped it enough to see all the MUI files. i will check back on you tomorrow.

This ROM is working pretty well, I enjoy the default.wav being fixed.

I just don't really like the new greenish theme that was applied (the CommMgr buttons are barely readable)

For some reason I'm unable to use a home layout that was using rjtime perfectly with Andot's ROM... :(

edit: registry hack is not enough to disable it. it needs to be replaced or deleted from the ROM itself.

Hey guys.. So far the number of people who have tested this seems to be low. I am interested in how this ROM compares with the Andot's PEE and Phil's Beta 1 release. Like boot up time, memory leaks, application responses, etc. Any info would be great for people like me who have settled on one of the more widely available ROMs, and don't have the courage to test every single release that comes out.

btw i use PHM Registry Editor.

@Exitao: HTC Task Manager is the default task manager in WM6. even in WM5. that's why it is included.
same thing for HTC File Manager.

yooo i must say this is a nice rOM! ive been waiting for a long time for this kind of release! no programs that i dont want, i get to choose to install my own programs! thanks for this rom bro. ill stick with this one!
by the way, to all the people that have a question about this rom, this is a rom that only have the default programs that comes with wm6, so it means its clean, if you like something, search for it, install it as a cab file on ur phone!

Thanks mate. It worked after I reinstalled the PHM Registry Editor cab.
This ROM works great; FANTASTIC! and with SmartToolKit seems like I am having WM10 ;)

first off great job!

My only issues are that there are lots of green ui stuff when using the crossbow theme... also I cant seem to find a powercontrol+omapclock setup that works

also the media buttons on the tmobile sda didnt seem to work correctly...

great work tho, my fav release :)

I went from V2 to Vanilla and also ran into the Registry Editor issue. This is trying to use the signed EXE directly, which has always worked on other ROMs, even those that are application locked.

I did notice that DEFAULT.WAV is no longer played at boot, the first phone profile is now called "Normal" as expected, and IA File Manager is included.

Is it me or is the available memory the same between this build and V2?

If so, will we see a V3 with the minor updates? (I don't mind having Quick Notes and the Long_Home reset if it doesn't take away from available memory.)

i've also had that problem with regedit.exe running WM6 ROMs here before. not until it get installed as a cab.

How to enable that beep on startup back? It was very useful, because it beeps right before you need to enter pin and saves time. I was unable to find default.wav in windows directory, maybe it is removed from the rom? :(

BTW, could you tell what this rom is based on? This is what I was waiting for! I suggest that you include Office Mobile, Windows Live and Office 6.1 update as cabs, because they kinda belong to stock WM6 software, not very 3rd party...

It's so cool that you didn't spoil the rom with 3rd party software. This is the best WM6 rom and i won't switch even to Phills super "final" rom, because it simply will not be as stock :).

By the way, where could i find some info about WM6 registry? For example, how did you make scroll bars thinner? Animated menus? Maybe there are some other tricks? How to make it save e-mail attachments on card, because 20mb avi would easily flood main memory.

Looking forward to answers to my questions! Thanks for this awesome rom, feels like a proper upgrade. Just don't spoil it, it could include gsm and other updates...

this vanilla is based on V1 and V2.

yes i've deleted default.wav from the ROM itself to completely disable it. but to enable, here's a workaround:

1. HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds--->add Default.wav to AllSounds multi-string value

2. HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds\SystemDefault--->change *none* Sound value to \Windows\Default.wav

3. HKCU\ControlPanel\SoundCategories\System--->change *none* DefaultSound value to \Windows\Default.wav :)

4. then copy the attached file to \windows directory.

I had assumed that being an HTC product bundled with their phones that it was "default."

However, I never used it and with people seeming to like Celetask (which I have used), I was just curious as to whether Celetask really is a better product or how they compare, functionally.

for registry hacks, check here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=324416).

in registry dump, there are some entries which are not visible. they only appear after flashing the built ROM. that's why i can't do anything to delete them. :rolleyes: anyway they won't make any harm. :)

Hey there guys i have a problem i am running the new windows vista home basic on my PC and i tryed to run tthis Rom on my SPV C600 but it doesn`t work it just begin to start but remains at 0% and the display shows me that colorful thing (with red greeen..from the begining) I`d tryed with windows mobile device center in steed of Activsync because this it doesn`t work on vista.If you can help me ...:(

Tornados doesn't supprot SDHC, and software can't help on it. It's hardware problem :(

I am really impressed, and that is first WM6 i decided to keep on my C600.
I am almost sorry that i didn't tried it before i've bought TyTN II ;)

Anyway - now my old good C600 is best looking alarm clock i ever got - WM6 powered :)

BTW - anyone knows why screen rotation does not work? Or maybe i am wrong? I only tried simple c# program I wrote in 5 minutes to check it...

you might wana include this to your opinion, tornado doesnt have eh keyboard for the screen rotation to be use, i think that would be useless to rotate your screen if it doesnt have eh keyboard! tornado only have keypad, it would be hard to create sms if your in a horizontal view using the keypad lol :D ! do you have any reason why you want to have eh screen rotation?

Indeed, i got reasons:

- Reading text files
i tried it, reading is really easier with horizontal screen orientation, and scrolling is easy enough ;)

- Using pocket IE
some webpages are totally unaviable to vertical screen without touchscreen - really many of them got fixed left frame width (menu) - so U got 10 pixels for content ;)

of course there are overworks - opera mini, some text viewers that can rotate screen itself, so on... but why not to search perfect solution?

btw - i got strange feeling that both of us (viperz007 and me) are not native english speakers, living in the same country ;)

some webpages are totally unaviable to vertical screen without touchscreen - really many of them got fixed left frame width (menu) - so U got 10 pixels for content ;)

of course there are overworks - opera mini, some text viewers that can rotate screen itself, so on... but why not to search perfect solution?

btw - i got strange feeling that both of us (viperz007 and me) are not native english speakers, living in the same country ;)

well i think we just have to face the fact that our devices don't support screen rotation and might as well just live with it. ;)

I like the comm manager better than the wireless manager. Is there any way to make clicking on the first entry down on the home page (the one with the date, clock, network and wifi status) open the comm manager instead of the wireless manager?

I understand that the upper left hand side button opens the comm manager.

I noticed that this rom consumes more battery than Phills's does.
BTW, i suggest not to take requests like "blue comm manager" and "bundle app x" and "change default picture viewer" seriously. It's Vanilla, not a custom rom, so most people are very happy just for that - it's all about stockness. So customizing is not an option.
Very best rom.

If you try using the search function you'll find that there are various cab files around these forums for the different service providers.

If you can't find one for your provider, try Howard Forums. Often, if you just call your provider, they will give you the information and you can manually enter it. If you don't know how to do that, use the search function.

Maybe next time you'll back up your provider specific settings before you wipe your phone.

it does not. together with other green themes (cprogback.png, ms_mobile.gif). but if you prefer the default ones, attached are the default cprogback, and ms_mobile. just copy them to \Windows directory then reboot after. :)

edit: for the default comm manager, i will attach a cab later.

I can't get voip to work... I installed the WM6VoIP.CAB provided by phil in his extras-pack, but the voip-today plugin doesn't show up.
I have a new "internet calling" entry in settings, but that's it. I can't even check if my setup.xml works, because I don't know if voip is running.

Any ideas?

BTW: Does anyone have a completed german localization? mine is still 50 english 50 german..

Just found out that i cant play with the brightness..
just reset the brightness once, and when trying to adjust, the white color become very dark..
so once i reset, i cant adjust the brightness (-2 to +2) anymore...

But overall im very happy with this ROM compare to BETA and Andot's...

When I enter into scanner mode of Sniper (v1.3.496 SP) and search for some device, an error message pops up immediatly saying "No BlueTooth Devices Detected"
Under WM 05 the scanner took by far more time and also returned devices in range.

Any ideas what i can do to fix this or another app i can to try for Bluetooth Social Networking ;)

By the way this is really a great rom, nothing useless and all i need, thank you.

Hi Eric, out from the topic of this forum, i wanna ask you regarding TCPMP program.

I have the latest free TCPMP (0.72RC1) for smartphone. when i use my O2 Xphone II, IIm and Dopod 577 (WM5), i was able to run WMV into TCPMP.

but now i notice that after upgrading to WM6, it only can be executed tru windows media player.
it did happen to my Asus P525 (after upgraded to WM6) as well.

any explaination? or any other latest version that able to run WMV?

Hi all.. anyone have any nice splash screen for shutdown and startup?
When i was using my WM5 in my SPV C600, i like that much.
I really prefer to get the original from SPV Orange but i forgot to copy from its windows folder before upgrading :(

If nobody has it, splash screen from vjgrace or jm012a9749 also not bad.

Hi Eric, i set the backlight time out on battery to 5 seconds, backlight time out on A/C to 1 minute, and display time out is 1 minute.

Initially when i just upgraded my phone using your ROM, when i lock the phone manually (press and hold red button), the light and display timeout will totally disappear within 5 and 6 seconds respectively after it shows unlock at the bottom left .

but now after i lock it, the light dissapears as the same as display timeout, within 1 minute time.
if i change display time out to 2 minutes, the light will dissapear within 2 minutes time (follow the display time out).

This thing happens when i was using WM5 in my dopod 577w during the 1st batch.

Do u encounter the same problem?
and any remedy for this?

No, i always lock it manually.
I use auto keylock previously but very troublesome when typing a msg half way, everytime the phone need to be unlock as i set it same timing with display timeout (1 minute)

is anyone having problems getting voip to run with this rom? or am i the only one? can't get it to work.

I love this rom, but there's one more issue. When i plug in my headset, the phone does not change the profile automaticly to "headset".... so it keeps the "normal" profile and ringtones still play out of the phones speakers.

do you have any ideas?

just ran the load and i must say i was a bit sceptic at the whole "faster loading" thing but after the initial setup i was blazin'. (and before i make anyone mad let me apologize and say read in whole) the button short_ap2 fix was kinda getting in my way so i extracted the rom to the kitchen and removed the short cut then reloaded and the problem solved. so if anyone wants to ask why(this for the noobs)...don't! just use the kitchen from this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=320910&highlight=kitchen (big props to duke_stix) and look in the rom for a "short_ap2" shortcut and delete it. other than that this is a great rom for basic setup and speed.

yea, I just finished going from default wm5 to nitro's wm6 platinum. It's too darn slow! Is this one faster and pretty much complete? Also, if I wanted to go from the wm6 I have on my tornado now to this wm6 what would I have to do? Today was my first time upgrading to wm6 so I followed that tutorial but I don't have the first clue about changing to this vanilla. Any help is uber appreciated! Thx.:D

Exact same process as the tutorial, but you use a different *.nbf file.

Try SGregory's Neo ROM or VJGrace's final.

Nitrogen's is good. Tweak the startup, install your personal apps to storage. Use the tweak settings and restart the phone.

Just to clarify does this mean I have to go through all the supercid and unlocking junk again??? Cause I didn't enjoy that very much. But I believe you are saying that I should follow every direction to a t just with this rom instead, si?

No, you don't have to CID again, but you should use TeraTermPro to "format BINFS". I would use that as step #1 if you previously flashed a ROM from here.

However, it never hurts to use the other steps.

example, last week (11/03/08) i reset the phone, until today (18/03/08) if i never reboot the phone, i can only view the last call history on the 11/03/08 and before.

but once i reset the fon today 18/03/08, the last call history will appear until today's date.

try mo nlang ung wm6.1 dito.....Hope magkaroon ka ulit ng Tornado iba iyong HTC Vanilla mo eh stable itong WM6.1 kumbaga hindi ma hinog marami pang dapat i-improve to make it stable and fix...Pahiram ko sana ang binili kung Tornado sayo kaso magkalayo tayo para you could make much better WM6.1 iba kasi pag ikaw nag cook lutong-luto talaga:)...Wala pa ring pinagbago ang binili kung Tornado sayo alagang-alaga ko to eh 101 scratchless pa rin brandnew pa rin...Hope you could have Tornado we are eager to have a new WM6.1 rom from you:)...thanks a lot...

oo nga pre e actually naghahanap ako ng i-mate sp5/dopod 577w or qtek 8310 na makinis. kakamiss e. :rolleyes: baka me alam ka. hehe. di bale wm6.1 muna dito pagtiyagaan mo. :D

Mind translating whats all this?...hahaha well my beloved friends ericjm and I are from the Philippines so I hope you will allow us once in a while but ok will translate for you guys" ericjm and I were talking about if he could make a new rom which is WM6.1 for our Tornado but unfortunately he doesn't have anymore his Tornado and he is looking for one so I hope somebody here could help him if anyone here has an extra tornado who is willing to sell so that he could make new rom for us maybe much better than the other as his HTC Vanilla rom is still at its best"...so I hope this is clear now...sorry for our Filipino language:)

btw any idea how to change the green color background at Comm Manager?

I prefer blue or black color..

Blackdragon_860 had his release here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=389190). The ROM was extracted from the emulator. The release is basic, plain vanilla edition.

Emulator: Windows Virtual Test Device, used on PC to test/develope WM Applications.(my definition) You can download it at M$

Everyone wants WM6.1Pro, It's already here, been tested, and its a pain to work with Fake Cursor and D-Pad. One waste too much time switching from one to another. I tested it, it worked great, but took me double the time to move around. Fast ROM + Slow work around = Bad Option
My Opinion :)

Emulator is the "clone" released by M$. Most of the software similar to a real phone. (Correct me if I am wrong here). You can install it on your pc to play around.
It's been released and discussed at length of its pros and cons. My personal opinion is NO! I wont go for it. You should try (google in this forum) and have your own opinion.

i have tried all rom released here except those for Pro devices.

Blackdragon's is currently installed but there are still issues with wifi and bluetooth. I am helping him test them currently. poor guy his device does not have wifi hardware..

my second device is now installed with nitro' latest.

i prefer gnat eval release though. but gnat is currently enjoying the warm weather. so let it be.
Phil is also cooking now.
