New user to this forum. Does anybody know if it is possible to change the default directory that is opened with the "Pictures and Video" app. I would like to get it to use a specific folder on my storage card rather than the default "My Videos" on th device. Many thanks

I am having a problem with Bluetooth in my BMW. Sometimes when I turn bluetooth on on the handset, it turns itself off when I start the car. If I turn it back on then the car seems to sync up and is ok. However if I turn the car off Bluetooth disappears. Never had this fault with my Motorola. Thanks in advance

You must synchronize your contacts with activesync.

Which BMW do you have? Specifically, does it use i-drive or is it the old style with the computer knob on the dashboard?

I only have my device paired with my Z4 (old style computer) and it has its own weirdness, but not what you're describing. Specifically I had issues with the pairing failing a couple of times before it took and then now sometimes the car's audio system mutes the radio/aux as if there's a call coming in.

My wife's wagon has the i-drive system, so I can test it if that's what you have.

I have the same problem occasionally in my Nissan Maxima. When I get in the car and start it up, the display shows the phone icon as if there's an active call. The only way to get it working properly is to soft reset the Tilt.

Interesting... I was able to get it to disconnect by going in and out of the computer's phone screen a couple of times.

Tonight when I used the car it didn't happen at all.

I never had this problem with my Apache or Q.

I have an issue with Sprite Backup. I have TomTom 6 installed in my Kaiser, and everytime I use Sprite Backup to backup my data, it reboot my Kaiser and run the backup. At the same time, it starts TomTom Navigator. I have manually shut down TomTom. This happen every time.
Note: If I just do a normal reset, TomTom won't run (not part of startup folder)

I'm sure others have a different experience but I found Sprite backup to be totally unreliable.

Issues I had:

1. The desktop app failing to initiate the backup (sits there forever saying waiting for device)
2. Missing tabs on the desktop app for backup options
3. Backups hanging - soft reset required to recover
4. PIN issue when restoring

The last one was the worst. I had a full backup which I tried to restore after a hard reset. During the restore the device asked for my PIN but would not recognize the value I typed in. The only solution was another hard reset.

I tried a hard reset / backup / restore again, this time I didn't set a PIN on the device but during the restore it again asked for a PIN, which of course I didn't have. So basically it coompletely failed for me.

I'm now using Spb Backup and so far it has worked okay except that it reports a failure to backup one file with a strange (very long) filename which looks like it may be a registration file for one of my apps.

I have an E46 '04 M3. This is pre I-Drive and there are no issues with pairing. This is exactly what I have found. Iturn on bluetooth on my kaiser and then turn on the car. I find that bluetooth has been turned off on the phone and I have to re-enable it. It is then fine. However when I stopped for petrol the other night and got back in the car bluetooth had been de activated. I put JET Bluetooth extension on the phone yesterday and I am monitoring it to see if any different.

Using it in an '07 5-series with iDrive since early September. No problems at all, pairs up very quickly and keeps the contacts well synchronised.

My Kaiser is also my work phone so I don't have the option of data connectivity via GPRS. Is there any way to download google maps to my pc and transfer them to the phone via activesync?

Love this app but can be a little quirky. Sometimes if I turn the phone to vibrate and then back to ring, when I lock the phone it still shows the vibrate icon at the top of the phone. Secondly when I set the registry to show full screen photo ID of the caller sometimes I don't get any picture. Thoughts?

I don't think so - as I think the fact you're downloading g maps is the whole point the app is free - it builds a reliance for a data connection in order to provide the service...
maybe the techies know better....

you can change the icon of a shortcut to a program, but to change the program icon you would have to use a resource hacker to replace the icons within the EXE file.

to change the shortcut of icon (ie: so the new icon appears in the start menu) you need to modify the shortcut to include the icon path. I believe the form is

programname.exe?iconfile.dll,-1 (the number signifies which icon in the exe to use.)

You need to disable iLock.exe before making those registry changes, or they won't stick. After you make the changes, reenable iLock.exe and they should show up.

I installed in the other day and found that I was unable to keep my TyTN II turned off when it was on charge - it kept turning back on to the wallpaper screen. I've uninstalled it now and I am still getting the same behaviour.
Any ideas what causes that?

I'm well aware of how ilock works but I never said there was a registry issue. What happens is when the phone goes to vibrate and I turn Slide on, the vibrate icon appears at the top instead of the speaker, great. However when I turn ringer back on and then lock the phone the vibrate symbol doesn't change. But here's the thing, when a call comes in the phone does ring and the symbol changes back to the speaker. Anyway I can live with that cause it's a fab little app.

As for the photo issue , I can receive a call from somebody and their photo comes on fine, but if they ring up again sometimes no photo appears. Not a registry issue just a small bug I guess, but nobody's perfect.

Tried SPB Backup and exactly what I wanted, a no fuss tool. However I have restored and I had to hard reset and found that activesync didn't recognise my partnership any longer and I had to delete it and re-sync completely.

Not sure if I've missed something here but how do you look at the /windows/ directory of the phone on your desktop via activesync. Doesn't seem to show system files either so I have to go on the phone to look at these.

Same thing happens to me. Strange. Doesn't interfere with the backup (I think, b/c I haven't used restore yet) as Sprite seems to run fine after I manually exit TomTom app after Sprite automatically restarts my device and starts up the program.

Loaded Smart2go as I wanted to see if I could get some maps via activesync as I have no 3g. Anyway ran it and all ok so downloaded Maploader. Took SD card out of phone and used reader into USB port. Maploader was ok with this and showed me the maps available as this functionality isn't available over activesync. Problem is it says I have no free space. Looked at faq but it appears I'm not the only one with this issue. Anybody managed to get this working. Oh and before anybody starts recommending TomTom, I already have it so let's keep the discussion on Maploader.

All of these programs use the default WM PIM Database, so syncing will always work.
You can use Pocket Informant 2007 or Agenda One for example. A lot of users use one of these two.

I prefer PocketBreeze or TodayAgenda(freeware) to show my appointmens on my today screen.
For creating appointments I just use the default WM Office version, or my PC that syncs using Exchange.

Pocket Informant 2007 is a great calendar replacement, and I'm not sure if it's still valid, but I was able to pick it up free 2 days ago...check here:

Pocket Informant also has a Calendar only version (PI Calendar) that uses a lot less memory/smaller footprint. I like that one as I don't need all the extended features in the full version.

Pretty sure the last item in the list is 24 hour... I'll have to check in an hour, but make sure you scroll ALL THE WAY down to the bottom of the Time setting box.

Now that you mention it, I think I remember my 'regional settings' being dorked up initially when I loaded one of Dutty's ROMs. Try fiddling with the setting on the first page which sets all the other settings. Save it, leave, come back in, and then go to the time tab and then click on Time Style. When the list of available selections pops up, keep pressing down (it only shows 2 available, but more are there, trust me). Eventually select the one that has HH:mm:ss. That is the 24 hour one that I've used.

Put an question mark afterwards, then put the path and executable name to the icon you want, put a comma and end with a number. This number is the icon-index-number within the executable.
An example:
53#"\Program Files\Teksoft\A2DPToggle\A2DP.exe" "-a2dp:1"?\Program Files\Teksoft\A2DPToggle\settings.exe,-0

This shortcut points to A2DP.exe, has a parameter -a2dp:1 and has the first icon in executable settings.exe.

I ALWAYS install apps/games etc on my memory card. I ONLY install on main memory if I absolutely have to, ie if the app I really want has to be installed on main memory in order for it to work.

How i go about it is this, apps that are going to be displayed on the today screen and continuously updated, i install them on the device memory (weather apps and such) also system apps i install on device mem. (memaid, sktools, etc) Ringtones too should be on device mem so the phone can access it as quickly as possible.

Games and other non crucial apps i install on my storage card.

MP3, movies etc etc. all go on the memory stick, tomtom charts are also on the memory stick, the program however on the internal memory..... (and tomtom runs flawless not like the magician vs. tytnII movie...

This is exactly how I am setup. It allows me to switch storage cards and even use card export to access data on my storage car from any PC and not have to worry about my phone needing the card.

FWIW, with 30 games and several (like Tom Tom, Google Maps, GPSGate, Navizon, HTC GPS Tool, Slick IM, updated camera, HTC Photo Album, CorePlayer, World Card Mobile, MS Office 6.1, .NET CF 3.5, Resco Kybrd, iLauncher, PocketWeather, Pocket Breeze, MS Voice Command 1.6, Flash Player, Card Export II, HTC Zip, Arcsoft MMS 4.x.x.x, KaiserTweak, PHM RegEdit and a few more) programs all installed to Main memory I still have 64 MB of free storage space on my phone!

Of course it helps when your runnign an ultra clean Rom with everything but thet kitchen sink (like .NET CF, MMS & Office) removed.

When I'm done with my next mod to the Rom even the camera app will be removed to save space (besides I always install the updated camera thanks Navidi)
