I was thinking of a nice "concept" of launcher kind of Today plugin of app launcher (like iLauncher , Pocket Plus, etc.).

Usually this kind of app will use TAB and most of the time will consume a lot of screen estate (area).

My idea of a good launcher :

1. Using big icon size

2. Only one row of icon (without TAB), maybe 5 icons max.

3. You can slide that row with your finger to display other icons (shortcuts), with scrolling animation if possible :D

4. Double Tab of the icon to launch the app (or tab+hold). This is necessary because we need to reserve the single tab to slide the icons.

Is this a good idea or not? :D

Well, one might ask "I have a lot of shortcuts and it will be annoying if I must scroll/slide a lot".

That's correct, but another idea is to have somekind of "Page container" to hold, let say max 12 icons (3x4) :D The page will be displayed as a popup ...

Anyway, just my idea :)

Problem with HTC Home:

1. It is TOO BIG (require about 50% of screen estate).

2. It can only hold 1 tab for application launcher (with only 9 max shortcuts).

So, it is pretty useless if you have more than 9 app shortcuts that you want.

My idea is to have just 1 "row" of icons that you can "scroll / slide" through to display next apps/shortcuts.

Gotcha.

Maybe cool, but not for me, as I do the basics with my fingers, Call, read emails/SMS, launch Calenders, etc and when the need arises just whip out the stylus for the rest.
