Yes, you would need to uninstall alpha 4 before you install the release version V1.3.

Apart from some bugs fixed, the released version V1.3 has a different way to launch apps. It is described in the first post.

Just upgraded to 1.3 from 1.0 and tried for awhile. Really can't tell what's the difference betw the two (in my p535).

Take note again: cube launcher will not works from the storage card (not at all in LeftRightAppCmd but shows up dummy in RightLeftAppCmd). For cube launcher, we must store it in our device's programfile.

However personally still prefer the switch mode between S and L in A4. No major issue, just sometime during scrolling, it goes into launch mode. Any tricks to work around this :) :) :)

this is a superb application and I look forward to following it's development.

Only Two Requests:

1. Agenda One is a brilliant calendar task/appointments app which I use all the time, as it is so intuitive to add tasks with the finger. Ironically, ftouchflo doesn't work with this program.
What's strange, is that Contacts List and Options Menu DO, but Tasks List, Agenda List, Today List and Search don't. They all use the standard windows scroller, which is weird. so if you have time, check it out. It may be similar to MSExcel and Resco Photoviewer. I'm sure you'll iron it out.

2. Accelerated scrolling. Useful for LONG lists like contacts, inbox, long documents. Don't know how complicated this would be to work out....

I'm still have the problem with icontacts not being excluded unless I select a contact with the 1.3 build. I have some more info for you based on some testing. If I select icontacts from the soft keys, it is excluded correctly. If I open icontacts from a wisbar advance desktop shortcut it is not excluded correctly. Hope this helps.

Scroller: It's not smooth and intuitive enough. I guess it would benefit from a two-step algorythm, if we move slowly (something around < 200pix/sec), just grab & scroll a la opera mini, ie just a bit faster than the finger. If we move faster, then use an exponential coefficient, which would be kinetic. What do you think ?
(it may/should have more steps to increase fluidness, 2-step was especially to illustrate the idea)

Launcher: Can you use taskbar and softkeys zones to start from ? So as we can get rid of the zone stuff. Left/Right gestures can be done in those places too.

just tried to rotate screen by gesture using Schaps Advanced Config options.
Seems that FTouchFlo doesn't work with Command Lines consisting of two words
seperated with space, see example below:

LeftRightApp:\Programme\Adv Config 1.0\AdvancedConfig.exe
LeftRightAppCmdLine:"/rotate right"

for rotating screen right does not work, while

LeftRightApp:\Programme\Adv Config 1.0\AdvancedConfig.exe
LeftRightAppCmdLine:"/compose"

for composing new SMS works fine.

I would look forward for maybe another command line tool
which rotates screen to landscape and back to portrait with ONE
keystroke instead of two which you would need with Schaps.
Otherwise you would have to turn the screen whole around to
be back in portrait mode.
I realized, that with HTC Home Rotation it would work as I suggested,
but I have no idea how to use the HTC Home Rotate function
in a command line. Any ideas?

Tried rotatese, worked but soooooo sloooooooow.
Found another app, which works fine, called RBC9-Land :D
It's also freeware (36k), you can get it as lefthand and righthand app,
and also as standalone or tray app. Took the standalone app (RBC9-Land R.exe)
and mapped it to FtouchFlo down/up gesture. Works like a champ.

FTouchFlo is great. But I'm having a little problem with it. During scrolling, it's scrolling faster than my finger. Let say I have Messenging opened. I start scrolling on message 3. While scrolling, I'm expecting to have message 3 beneath my finger all the time but it is not. Only when I return my finger to where I start scrolling, message 3 is beneath my finger.

Is it a calibration problem? I can't seem to find a way to recalibrate FTouchFlo. Btw, is it possible to have the scrolling as smooth as what is done in PocketPlus 4? With it, I think everyone will remove the Smart Scrolling by Spb.

IMHO this is needless - why do you want just a subset when you can ask for whole. If we can map a key combination we can do even more like TAB, HOME, END, PgUP, PgDn, Alt F4 and so on...

I think it is because of some bug. You're not only one who have such problem (look in previous posts). I'm working on it. I think I almost solved it.

Do you have efrostsMinimize.exe assigned to Up->Down gesture? If yes, you shouldn't use it! Check 4th or 5th page of this thread - there is minimize application I published. You should use this one for Up->Down gesture. There is also explanation why efrostsMinimize.exe can't be used.

Hi! The problem is that "write anywhere" Calligrapher's feature works the same way as standard transcriber which is not supported for now. In the future I am going to support it, but it is a lot of research and work... so, I can't promise you to fix it in near future. Sorry.

Hi! The main and super important difference is that in Alpha4 there is FTouchFlo calibration routine, but starting from FTouchFlo 1.0 standard windows calibration data and routine used.
2 zones (scrolling and launching) is also important difference.

There is some special case in Tasks list, Agenda list and so on where scroll bar actually belongs not to window where you see tasks or agenda, but to some other window.
Now I'm looking for scroll bars this way:
1. Take window under cursor and check if it has WS_HSCROLL or WS_VSCROLL properties. If success, I'll send WM_SCROLL to this window.
2. Find parent window of window under cursor and check if it has WS_HSCROLL or WS_VSCROLL properties. If success, I'll send WM_SCROLL to this window.
3. Send WM_SCROLL message to window under cursor.

This 3rd step is necessary, for example, for Opera (not opera mini!). Opera's window doesn't have WS_HSCROLL or WS_VSCROLL styles, but nevertheless there are scroll bars. :-\

So, I'll take a look on Agenda One's case and probably I'll be able to handle it.

Yo - as of now you can put the game to disabled list or restart the ppc to disable FTouchFlo. It can not be minimized or closed on the run.

I am having a problems with 1.3.

It works OK in protrait, but when I switch to landscape, taps are done incorrectly, not in the point I tap the screen (much lower and to the left).

BTW: I am using a toshiba G900 WVGA screen (480*800 portrait, 800*480 landscape).

On 0.4 it wasn't happening so I guess it could be how you are using windows calibration data.

when "htc touch project on trinity" started, there was a cube activated and make spin via hardware button...
the question is: where is this cube now? :confused: I tried both byka's and slither's and both works: they come up and then spin. when i try to minimize they disappear and i'm left with a blank screen! where can i find the old cube to try if it works...
at present i have just installed ftouchflo ver 1.3 and it works perfectly in scrolling contacs and so on, so i'd like to have all working...

Can FTouchFlo ignore click/drag on a scroll bar?
Can the scrolling be more like Opera mini? I notice that when the view has less content to scroll, the sensitivity is way too much.

Haven't used opera mobile (not sure if you are just using opera or the java based opera), but if i remember correctly it uses the a midlet manager.... you could possibly try excluding it instead.... of course this is going to take out the scroll on all your java programs if you use others.....

You're thinking of Opera Mini. It uses Java. Opera Mobile is a stand alone app.

Totally wonderful program. This has completely revolutionized my device as Water's smartkey did long ago. Really Really great.

I have an 8125 (Wizard). Running original OEM Rom, WM5....

I have assigned my left/right function to a ".lnk" file. Won't activate. Should it? Assuming yes, what are the possibilities of what I am doing wrong. .swf and .exe programs work fine.

I just started playing with the launcher, it's nice. But could you please include shorter gestures ?
While vertical ones are quite ok, I find that horizontal ones are harder to achieve, because you must almost slide through the whole screen to get it triggered...
I wish the minimal distance needed for gestures was more like ~100pix.

The right-->Left gesture is still not picking the commandline parameters in v1.3.

I found on mine that you must sweep all the way across. Edge to edge and it will work fine. I found that only going 1/3 or 2/3 of the way as in the directions will not do much. Another trick I use, is to adjust the delay from 100ms to 200ms in the settings. That helps alot and keeps from accidently picking up items on the screen before you have a chance to complete the gesture. I first tried it with a stylus a time or two. Once I got it working I just began using my fat thumb!!!:D

I found on mine that you must sweep all the way across. Edge to edge and it will work fine. I found that only going 1/3 or 2/3 of the way as in the directions will not do much. Another trick I use, is to adjust the delay from 100ms to 200ms in the settings. That helps alot and keeps from accidently picking up items on the screen before you have a chance to complete the gesture. I first tried it with a stylus a time or two. Once I got it working I just began using my fat thumb!!!:D

First of all, many thanks to all donators!

Unfortunately I don't have much time, so new feature introduced not so fast...

Changes in 1.4:
1. Fixed a few bugs causing not stable behavior (freezing, white-screen or so.).
2. Fixed LeftRightAppCmdLine parameter parsing.
3. Fixed "Excluded programs" list.
4. Display orientation now checked for each point. Hope issues with "incorrect calibration" in landscape mode on some devices will be solved.
5. Whole application optimization.
6. Added scrolling in "Agenda One" windows. Changed scrollable window searching algorithm.
7. Added possibility to turn off scrolling function. New parameter "DisableScroll" with possible values: 0 - scrolling enabled and 1 - scrolling disabled. For example, to disable scrolling in all windows put DisableScroll:1 to the configuration file.

It's already good actually... Fast and accurate, it's far better than htc touchflo implementation (at least on prophet, never used a htc elf)

IMHO, it just needs one thing to be truely usable, tap-error handling:
Add a delay when scrolling ends so that we can't tap, to avoid mis-pressing.
If possible add an audible or visible feedback instead of currently tapping, so we know our finger went off then on the screen (it happens from time to time to me)

Oh, and kinetic for long gesture scrolls of course, with the ability to stop it on 1st tap, then security delay (we can continue scrolling meanwhile), then we can tap again :D

OK here are some ideas where app-specific functions might be good.

1. Say I am listening to a track in Media Player and I want to go to the next track - Right to Left should simulate the D-Pad right button and switch to then next track.

2. What about doing that with tabbed dialog boxes so you can drag to switch tabs?

3. Switching days of the week in Calendar view.

4. Switch between categories in Contacts.

There are probably many more. BTW I'm not using this app right now as I have HTC Touchflo in the rom I'm using but it's interesting nonetheless. Any idea how it compares in terms of memory used?

Normal functions on 1.4.1 working great on Trinity (as if they wouldn't)!!

When scrolling is disabled (DisableScroll:1) the scrollbar seems to be recognised by the launcher and either launches one of the up/down - down/up apps or there is a delay before scrolling starts and the scroll bar jumps down to catch up. Not a problem for me as I wouldn't disable it, but tested for you anyway.

I like the idea of customisabe zones. The bottom of zone 2 seems a little high, a few times I've launched my down/up app when scrolling through long lists...

Please don't give up on the kinetic scrolling, you have put in the hard yards, hopefully someone can help you out :o

Edit: If you Exclude:cecmd.exe or anything you scroll with then it scrolls fine. So it looks like you have disabled scrolling but because FTouchFlo is still running for that app, you need to pause for the GestureWaitingDelay.

For those who doesn't know the application strokeit for windows (Google search "Strokeit"), take a look, as we could take some good ideas from it.

Edit: Also "disableScrolling" and a new feature "disableGestures" could be configurable by context application (ie. I could disable just scrolling for Opera, as it already handles scrolling, but want to keep gestures)

I have a point to make about "exclude program" feature:-
I think the small icon S/D/L which you had provided in the alpha4 version is required back anyway.. Let me give one example:-

When we open the notes we normlly see a big list of notes we have stored on our device. So, to scroll through this list we need ftouchflo active.
But, when we are writing(using draw option) a new note or editing an existing note then we definitely need ftuochflo de-ectivated.


If the small icon S/D is available at the top of the screen we can easily de-activate the ftouchflo simply by clicking on it and have tension free drawing of new notes...

May be you can give it a re-consideration....:)

Just want to report one minor inconvenience when using FTouchFlo with Wisbar Advance 3 - a program that provides a cascaded start menu. The menu, under normal circumstances scrolls perfectly. But when an Excluded app, like the Midlet Manager, is running in the foreground while the start menu pops up, the scroll to the start menu is disabled.

Apparently, FTouchFlo can detect and scroll the Wisbar menu's window class - but only when the application underneath it is not excluded. Perhaps the application exclusion mechanism does not take into account of a suddenly popped up window-less start menu.

hey you're right! i'm also using wisbar advanced 3 and true enough when an excluded app is running, scrolling in the cascading start menu IS disabled like FTouchFlo completely forgot about Wisbar not being excluded. :(

- Can u add 2 parameters into the "Exclude applications"? 1 for disable scrolling and another for disable the executing application function.

Eg. I'm using File Explorer, and I scrolled the list of files as usual. But, when I scrolled fast, it kept calling up my "DownUpApp" function which I felt very ignoring. If eTouchFlo can added a parameter disable the function as user needed, that would be great.

Hi, I don't know which are the parameters from the drag event, also don't know which are the parameters needed to invoke the scroll method, but my point is, I think scrolling must be X pixels drag, means scroll the control X pixels (as Opera works).

Anyway, you, probably, forgot that Windows doesn't provide possibility to intercept stylus events and that's why there are not so many applications providing functionality like FTouchFlo.
Of course, I used some... hm... tricks :rolleyes: ... to make it works, so probably these tricks are not compatible with emulator.

My guess is that something should go to excluded programs list. I was trying to explore the device and find-out which is the .exe file but in the end gave-up.

I installed to my Trinity (Dopod D810) and tested at once. I found that
1. Up->Down: 90% works
2. Left->right: 50% work
3. Right->left: 0% work
4. Down->Up: 0% work

I am using the offical WWE WM6 ROM from Dopod.
What should I do then?

Try it, you never know until you give it a try...I didnt know it works with O2 Atom Life until I tried it..

If you tried the launcher function and it is not working it is because you do not have the programs that shortcuts in ftouchflo config refer to installed.
Out of box lefttoright gesture should work - it points to messaging.

Hi! Very very strange... I didn't found anything what might cause touch-pad freezing after wake up, but I know about this problem and I'm trying to found and fix it.

Bad thing is that I have only my Trinity and I can't try FTouchFlo on any other device. :( Everything is made based on my imagination how other devices should work and this imagination not all the time correct, I think. :)

I am going to add "debug mode" for issues like this, so, in future it will be easier to understand what's going on.

Hi! I think that problem is "how" you're trying to use it.
Try to do following:
1. in FTouchFloConfig.txt set Delay:10000
2. Save file (don't save in Word format if Word will ask you!)
3. Open mail or text messages.
4. Try to scroll starting from the middle of screen - put your finger or stylus (better stylus because it's much more precise) and try to scroll like you're dragging the contents... I mean, it works not as scroll bar but in opposite direction.

If it'll be working, it would mean that you're starting scrolling not immediately after you've touched the screen.
Change Delay parameter to 500 and try once more.

I use Delay:100 and it works all the time... but I have a lot of experience working with FTouchFlo :D

Great program. Got one bug with the Excludes list.

Slide2Unlock loads (this is also in my exclude list) I do the slidy thing then it will go back to PhatPad (the excluded app). Hi! It is written in the "known issues" section: you can't start MS Calibration when FTouchFlo is running. You have to softreset first to unload FTouchFlo.

He want something very easy to use preferably with simple interface - maybe he wants some GUI for settings because there is nothing complicated with fTouchFlo. He wants to try it without any risk of something going bad, I am just not sure how can he mess up the phone, because fTouchFlo can be uninstalled with no consequences. Just my 2 cents....

Hi! Probably you have the same problem as lots of people here. Try to set up GestureWaitingDelay:10000 and try to run something. If it will be working, it would mean that you're not starting moving your finger immediately after you've touched the screen.

I excluded Slide.exe and iLock.exe in the ftouchfloconfig file
Exclude Slide.exe

the first time the process started, the exclude work well. events are masked.
but the second time Exclude is not working I am able to minimize the slide application !
If I disable the background option (the Slide.exe is closed after each unlock)
every thing works well.
is FTouchFlo incompatible with hidden windows after activate them ?!

Make sure you are using the latest Minimize.exe from post 50 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=1597620&post1597620) of this thread. The previous one would try to minimize the today screen but I haven't heard of it opening apps.

BTW efrost, I got this working on a colleagues HP iPAQ rx4200, he's stoked, so you can add that to the list of successes ;)

I happened to realise when make the gesture to the efrostMinimize.exe in the today screen, both top and bottom bars changes. There's this 'menu' sign appears at the lower right corner showing test1, 2 3 and popup> which does nothing.

Wonder what are those for??

Minimizing applications is not the best idea.
Always better closing the applications, so you free up a lot of memory.
Disadvantage is that you need more time to (re)open an application.

I've just done some more playing and it seems that switching to landscape mode and back fixed the vertical scroll problem. Don't know why if that is what definitely did it but it is scrolling smoothly now. I will continue playing to see if I can replicate it.

I think it depends on available memory - when you have a lot of memory, scrolling works "by line" but wen you don't have enough memory or processor is overloaded scrolling works "by page". I am working on it, so, probably I'll solve this.

One more interesting thing with IE I've noticed: scrolling works smoother and faster at the top of page and slower and less smoother at the bottom of page :-\ Strange behavior and it's not caused by FTouchFlo.
FTouchFlo sends scroll line-by-line all the time.

So, I know about this problem and working on it.

Im using my M600 as a mini office, not phone, I mean, fully functioning it as a PDA, but only use the phone functionality to connect me to the internet, because you know, M600 is a stable GOD of PDA, but a trash of phone.

But, I tested it. Just now.
I called my M600 using my other phone and leave a misscall notification, sms it, system notify it with IM+ message flood, and I found no trouble. Still work like charm with FTouchFlo installed.

PIE is the 2nd default application I replaced on my PDA, the first one is the crappy default file explorer.

Im using opera 8.6 as internet browser. I found that opera 8.6 is not affected by FTouchFlo, even it isn't excluded on the config. But now, Opera Software released Opera 8.65 which has a new feature "grab and scroll". Tried it and yes, it support finger scroll now.

Your touch screen doesn't work if FTouchFlo process killed - it is normal behavior. It is described in readme... and it is not possible to change... at least for now. May be in far future...

Hi! I have to solve a lot of things, as you can see from this thread. Most of them already done, but I am still trying to find out why application hangs sometimes.

Also today I've got new issue (see 2-3 posts above): on ETEN m600+ windows kills FTouchFlo process when there is no available memory, so touchscreen becomes not working.

You may want to try Hybernate, it simulates an out of memory event.. didn't experience it, and I didn't test neither, but maybe it will act the same.

Hi! I saw your request, but for now I didn't succeeded with this app. It uses some not usual way of working with touch screen... It is excluded normally, but it receives events from touch panel much slower if FTouchFlo is running.
I'll try to do something, but I would recommend to use PhatPad since it works fine instead :) or move your stylus slooowly :D

Hi! Of course not! It'll not work on microwave ovens or insulin pumps, for example. :D

Seriously, it should (is or will) work on any xDA device with touch screen and Windows Mobile 5 and 6. :)

Hi! Thank you for this report. It means, that I should change the way how to apply new settings. For now, FTouchFlo rereads configuration each time you're switching from one application to another.

Next version will come with different implementation of configuration...

Hi! It is one of interesting issues I've noticed and not only with IE... I think it depends on available memory - when you have a lot of memory, scrolling works "by line" but wen you don't have enough memory or processor is overloaded scrolling works "by page". I am working on it, so, probably I'll solve this.

One more interesting thing with IE I've noticed: scrolling works smoother and faster at the top of page and slower and less smoother at the bottom of page :-\ Strange behavior and it's not caused by FTouchFlo.
FTouchFlo sends scroll line-by-line all the time.

So, I know about this problem and working on it.

Just tried it... Didn't notice any difference. Sometimes IE and outlook starting scrolling "by page" instead of "by line" even if I press arrow button on the scroll bar. :(

Hi! Already mentioned here a lot of times:
you shouldn't use efrostsMinimize.exe in FTouchFlo configuration since it will minimize your desktop. Use Minimize.exe I've published on 7th or 8th page of this thread.
Also there is nothing with minimizing Flash. Slither's Cube calls efrostsMinimize.exe itself and here is nothing connected with FTouchFlo.

If anyone wants to close an app by using the updown command, I use VJOkButt. It's really small in size. Just unzip it, create a new folder called close and place it under program files.:)

This thread is not about Touch Cube - this thread deal with finger scrolling in apps and launching programs by swiping your finger on the screen - in all the programs not just the cube. As far as I know Touch Cube has not been ported to square screen device yet - even flash ports that are available here.

fTouchFlo is NOT a TOUCH CUBE - it provides finger scrolling capability to all windows containing scroll bar.

It should work with all PDAs with WM5/6. Try and you will see. If it does not work just soft reset your device and uninstall the app. fTouchFlo does not overwrite any system files, or write anything into the registry so it is safe to try.

Please consider also compatibility with O2 Flame. It hangs and slows down my Flame. Simple accidental stroke of stylus also activates FTouchFlo.

Are you expecting TOUCH CUBE to become loaded? Because that is NOT what fTouchFlo is supposed to do - it just adds posibility of finger scrolling and launching selected programs by swiping the finger on the screen - IT DOES NOT CONTAIN TOUCH CUBE.

I download it from a chinese site. It should be the default SIP come from WM6 Chinese version. It is extracted and is able to install on WWE device. Let me test FTouchFlo on a Chinese WM6 later and report.
