Touch flo isn't working on Kaiser .. when launched warning "touch flow already runing" but WM6 today screen still showing

Please read 7 Posts above yours!!! Seriously. FTouchFlo allows you to use your finger to scroll in most programs. It DOES NOT change your Today screen nor launch a visible program. I realize the thread is long, but at least read SOME of it.

Hi! Already mentioned here a lot of times:
you shouldn't use efrostsMinimize.exe in FTouchFlo configuration since it will minimize your desktop. Use Minimize.exe I've published on 7th or 8th page of this thread.
Also there is nothing with minimizing Flash. Slither's Cube calls efrostsMinimize.exe itself and here is nothing connected with FTouchFlo.

Got this amazing appz working on ipaq RX5900 and running TouchCommander and Slither's Cube. As Slithers's Cube seems to work only in portrait mode, I even use the left/right command to rotate the screen whenever I run the Cube. To switch between the 2 appz, I store 2 different config files and switch with the one in FTouchFlo.
This appz is amazing and yet simple to use and customize, even for someone that hasn't done any programming before.

If anyone wants to close an app by using the updown command, I use VJOkButt. It's really small in size. Just unzip it, create a new folder called close and place it under program files.:)

i have only tested this on hermes device only but if you follow the instructions you no longer need to start ftouchflo manually. when you reboot it starts up automatically.

Hey guys you misunderstood what fTouchFlo is about. THERE IS NO CUBE IN FTOUCHFLO. It only provides you with finger scrolling in all apps - no more need for sliders. You can also launch up to four programs with it but with no GUI - you will not see any cube simply because there is none. If you are looking for cube you can try Slither's Flash Cube - or Szabi's Cube Launcher.

Thanks. The reason why I was asking was because I tried to kill the app and the whole touchscreen didn't work afterwards. I guess we should only start it when we need it and don't do a windows\startup.

i successfully installed flashlite and FTouchFlo 1.0 in addition to hotfix 1.4.1 on my 1 month old Sprint HTC Mogul, but had the PPC go non-responsive to touch twice and had to battery pop to get touch back.

FTouchFlo will launch and then say already running, when i launch again - but there is no sign of the application...

what might be going on here?

Yes and no. Yes you need FtouchFlo to launch Slither's cube. But you can use FtouchFlo w/out the cube and launch other programs :D

You will have to edit the function you need in FTouchFloConfig.txt. I use the previous version without running the cube. use Touch Commander instead. ;>

but quite fun.. uninstall earlier cos some features in PocketCM not functioning after using FTouchFlo. not sure y. will try out this 1.4.1 ;>

What do you mean? I can scroll through the HTC audio manager w/no issues. I also can't go back lol :D The other day i was playing w/my friends 6800 and started to scroll his phone and realized he didn't have FtouchFlo. :eek:

That is related to calibration data - when you HR the device you have to create the calibration data. fTouchFlo is reliant on those - and it seems that it gets loaded before the calibration sequence that will eventually lead to inability to use it on first boot. Maybe you can make the fTouchFlo in the CAB (along with shortcut to be copied to startup menu) and add it to the custom ExtROM that would be launched upon HR/flash...(this will overcome the loading of nonexistent data, but it will lead to one more soft-reset - but automatic one).

how do you uninstall everything? how come nothing shows up on my remove programs list anymore? when i try to delete the folder FTouchFlo it says:



"Cannot remove folder 'FTouchFlo': Access is denied.



Be certain that the folder is not write-protected and is not currently in use."



I did a soft reset and went straight to file explorer to try and delete the folders but get the same error. Any suggestions?

EDIT: Nevermind.. I just did a hard reset. I'll install this again once everything is running smooth.

u will see weird sequence .. like alt+tab in window ..

eFrost I must say I am throroughly impressed by this app! I've seen it for so long, but for whatever reason I always thought it was like the touchflo cube thingy, which I didn't want on my Mogul since I assumed it was a ram hog. I simply can't wait for your next release! I hope the scrolling will work on the today screen - primarily the screens that have scrolling (like PocketBreeze's calendar and contacts tab). I am coming from a Mogul that used this program and I actually find FTouchFlo to have better scrolling then the Touch itself. fTouchFlo does not work with full screen SIPs - it does not work with anything based on transcriber - currently there is no fix on this, however you can use other chinese writing input systems that do not function fullscreen.

Do you mean that when you slide from bottom to top you can launch Slithers Cube?
- If this is the case you should double check the route and exe file names of the applications you want to launch with left and righ sliding.

You do not need to softreset after changing the config file - it wiorks off the shelf after saving the modified .txt file

After softreset are you activating FTouchFlo again?

Yes, a German ROM. Therefore the path \programme\...
But tmail.exe also doesn't start. :( The path and program are correct.

I have tried a few different approaches but I still cannot remove FTouchFlo from the startup folder.

I have tried the hard reset, removing all FTouchFlo programs and I still get a sharing error.

I want to remove all FTouchFlo and try again.

anyway, for those with problems writing chinese characters with CE-STAR's PenPower, I just found out there is a setting in PenPower that creates two boxes (on the screen) for you to write into.

So far, it is not affected by FTouchFlo, so Handwriting with that option is still possible.

only thing is, it takes up like, 1/3 of the screen space with those boxes..

I had the same issue as you.
I had to do a hard reset, to set everything back to factory settings.
After reinstalling all my email accounts, programs, etc. I tried it again and it worked.

After playing with the cube, I found that I just didn't care for Slither's cube even though it works fine.

Since then I obtained the Touch Commander and though it is somewhat the same, but the Touch Commander offers more customization and is very user friendly...and I have it working with FTouchFlo.

It all comes down to free vs. $15 but I feel it was worth the $$ to get what I wanted and it also give the author praise.

Good luck because it can be frustrating trying to get something like this to work.

If I understand correctly your quiestion - you are asking for the ability Efrost's FTouchFlo to be active only on "today", and disabled when any other application is running?

Actually, with some minor effort, you can manage this yourself. Go to config .txt file and add the applications to "Exclude Applications" list.

is there a tweak which removes the slider bars? With FTouchFlo we don't need the slider, so why not removing them. I know Advanced Config to make the sliders thin, but we do not need them.
If it's a registry tweak, maybe it can be added into the FTouchFlo config.txt to set 1 to remove them.

I have replyed your earlier message, but please notice I am not Efrost :)

Firs, what is that "rsc explore" - google returns only 5 results about, and i havent seen connection with wm!

Second, when you are up scrolling, in your words - scan my mouse upwards, you should notice there are two areas - No1 for scrolling; and No2 for gestures - for visual details please see first post of THIS thread HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338143) - "Attached Thumbnails" section. If you start moving your finger from area No2 - then you are going to launch application - rsc explore in your case

Again, read my previous feedback - you have the ability to DISABLE FTouchFlo when particular application is launched! In your specific case add rsc explore into "Exclude Applications" list - and thats it

I also have Sprint Mogul and it works just fine. Absolutely perfect. I've got Ftouchflo in my start up folder. The slide down to up launches the cube. I've got all the buttons on the cube working (except the delete button on the contacts screen (haven't figured out what I want it to do yet)).

The only thing I don't like, but wouldn't consider this a problem is when you do the down to up swipe to launch the cube, how there's a slight delay maybe a sec or 2 sometimes and you see Flash Lite being opened before the cube comes up. I think that might just be because the Mogul doesn't have that much RAM and it just takes a little while to open it up. But once I have it open, it runs smoothly and I have about 15MB of free memory with nothing else running.

Other than that. If you've followed the instructions correctly it should be working.

You should maybe try and reinstall.

This is a great program and I've already gotten a lot of use out of it. Congratulations on a great application.
I am, however, no longer able to hear the screen taps that I've set in Sounds & Notifications. All the settings are still the same before and after I start TouchFlo, but once the program starts, the sounds go away. I've played with the delay in the config file hoping that the problem was simple, but neither shorter nor longer delays corrected the sounds.
I know the sounds aren't critical, but I've grown accustomed to them and they often let me know that I haven't turned off the screen when it's in my pocket.

You have to look in the TouchFloConfigure.txt file. In there, you need to change the 1-41 to 1-50 ... Apparently the configuration file didn't get updated with the software. Its an easy fix.

Thanks to eFrost for the TouchFlo implementation. And thanks to Slither for the Flash cube. I didn't know what to do with the TouchFlo without it. Someone said it was better than HTC, and I have to agree. I ended up adjusting the TouchFlo parameters to 500 & 800 for better gesture recognition, but it seems to work very well. Now all I need is to replace the stupid AT&T dialer with the small buttons for the HTC dialer with the larger buttons. Anyone have a good phone/dialer replacement (good meaning "something with larger buttons").

There's a cab on one of the pages in this thread (I think) that will have a 5kb or so minimize.cab which has efrost's minimize program. Try looking for minimize.cab

As of yet there is no way how to use full screen writing input - No fullscreen Chinese/Japanese, No Calligrapher, No Transcriber. Way around as of yet is
- do not use FTouchFlo
- use non-fullscreen writing input (Block/Letter Recognizer)

This is a great utility, really like it. I hope the developer is still working on it, because just one last thing would make it perfect ;)

I saw someone else ask it in the thread, but it was buried in another question...

How about a flick gesture in the scroll zone?

Flick means you keep scrolling until you hit the end, or the user taps again, in whatever direction they flicked. Or I guess maybe it could be configured to scroll faster and decay unless the user tapped again...

It would have to be speed related, is it just not possible to detect?

A pretty nifty idea that I came up with was assigning CloseOK from Wisbar Lite to updown motion! Now I don't have to have my nails sharpened to click on the X :)!!!

Very cool app! Only issue I've seen is if I check my emails and it's a HTML formatted email, the scrolling isn't too smoot. Nonetheless, very useful app!

I have a HTC Herm100, which i know was having trouble working with previous touch applications(some problem with a different screen controller), and i must say i am impressed with how well it works so far, but it wont launch apps, i have tried everything, i made sure the links are sorrect, i set the delay so i could rule out me not doing it fast enough,

could this be related to the screen controller issue, i noticed there is another hermes on here with the same problem.

i would really like to see the app launch function working on my hermes, so if you get time to figure it out, im happy to offer my time and my phone for any testing needed (just send me the cabs, and ill give feedback)

I have been watching this thread as close as I could from the start and am very happy with this great app. Sorry if I missed this somewhere.

But I have one question, or it may turn out to be a solution for someone to figure out. When using FtouchFlo and Internet Explorer for the first time it will scroll one line at a time after a SR (we all know this). After using FtouchFlo in PIE & some other programs TOO, for a short while it starts to jump in PAGE incriments (we all know this to)!

Is there a way to reset, clear, or remove the backed up memory to restore smoth scrolling without having to close the app in use, or SR all the time:confused: !!! I have tried a number of things includeing SKTools, cleaning tools, all to NO effect.

If there is a way to do this, please post how to, or if someone could find a way to do it for all of us, FTouchFlo would be the next step to being PERFECT!

Sorry if this has been answered before, I don't exactly know how to search for this question.

I noticed that though it makes scrolling easier in other programs, it isn't totally complete, is it? I thought with touchflo when you scroll your finger down it keeps scrolling even if you're not touching. I saw a Mogul do that on youtube, but it was one of those people that didn't share how they did it. This would be helpful on Opera, making scrolling faster. It seems to do it a bit...perhaps. I'm not sure.

I own a HTC Advantage. I've played around with the IPhone. I'm so glad to see an application that emulates the touch behaviour of this device. It really assists in using one.

But one of the cool features of the Iphone, is that it detects whether you want portrait mode or landscape mode based on how you are holding the device.

This is so useful it would be great if this could be emulated on a ppc. But I'm not sure if this is possible. The advantage does have a tilt function (which I find to be useless), but I guess it must know which way it is being held??

I think it won't be possible, unless you mod your PDA itself and add a accelerometer or gyrometer (I forgot which one) After that you'll have to make a program that can communicate with the gyro-/accelerometer and can decide if you want it in portrait- or landscape mode.

To sum things up: It won't be possible to do what the iPhone does in terms of portrait without the right hardware.

EDIT:
By the way, I think the Advantage just has a meter showing how far you're tilting it backwards and forwards. I don't know if it also measures if you tilt it sideways. If it does, then I think it's just a question of programming.

With some practice I can now launch it moving my finger slowly from lower 1/3 of the screen to the centre (all still in zone 1). So Up-Down gesture becomes actually Down-Up misplaced to the centre of the screen.

I tried to read as much as I could (took me two days) and I did not find this bug reported earlier. Does it mean I'm the only one? I've tried reinstalling, setting up, changing delays...I'm starting to think that my device could be faulty...But EVERYTHING else works on it flawlessly (including FTouchFlo scrolling and all other gestures), so I really don't think so.

It got to the point that I had to disable Up-Down application altogether...No cube for me :(

You can still use your keyboard and use ftouchflo. I have the 8525 and it works fine.

Problem is that I'm very busy at work now and almost don't have time for development. So, it is hard to estimate when I'll release 1.5 :(

Kinetic, very smooth and precise scrolling works.
Added possibility to use lnk files for starting applications.
Added phone locked\unlocked control (to avoid launching applications when phone locked, for example, with S2U2).
It is possible to set up which applications to run depending on currently active application.
Whole application optimizations for performance and memory usage (it uses 2Kb memory now instead of 7Kb used by 1.4.1 :) ),
and so on and so on...

possibility to set up zones sizes is not implemented yet but it'll be in 1.5 for sure.

Not just you. I see that behavior in IE and NewsBreak (an RSS reader that uses the same HTML control). And not just the D-Pad - if you use hardware buttons OK (e.g. to minimize the app) or Start (e.g. to change apps) then switch back to the app, or even the soft keys (e.g. to launch a menu), the HTML control within the app starts to scroll by page instead of by line when you touch-scroll.

Invoking the same actions via the touch screen does not cause this behavior.

(System info: HTC Apache/XV6700, WM5, HTC Home plugin)

Otherwise, the utility works great; I'm hoping this is fixed in 1.5.

If it says it's already running then it's already on. There's no real icon or toggle to tell you if FTouchFlo is on or not (and remember to put a .lnk to it in startup otherwise everytime you boot up you'll have to manually activate it). Now just try scrolling in a window with a scrollbar -- like the programs folder or file explorer. It can be tricky to activate, but the key is to just put your thumb/stylus on the middle of your screen and just flick.

p.s. keep in mind, FTouchFlo is JUST a means of scrolling without the scrollbars and launching applications by swiping on your screen -- the touch cube is something else entirely, although it uses FTouchFlo to activate and navigate the cube.

You can use WkTask with command line options - it works for closing apps - one by one ro all running apps at once, minimizing them, switching tasks and also to get you back to the today screen.

I installed tf 1.4.1 and it work fine, but i can't use correct .lnk to start programs.
When the cube starts I see the first menu: Music, Photos, Videos.
I changed videos.lnk inside /SCLPF/Music Links
Now when I press Videos menu wmplayer start correctly.
What can I do to start Camera Album when I press Photos menu, and what can I do to satrt AudioManager when I press Music menu?

I have been having a challenge with FTouchFlo 1.4.1.

I use RLToday on my today screen along with MohairSofa Calendar+. With this being the case, when FTouchFlo 1.4.1 is running the Calendar will come up even if I touch the EMAIL or TXT or MMS option. It seems to be sparatic- but happens VERY often. I have attached an image of my Today Screen so you can see what it looks like.

When I turn off FTouchFlow 1.4.1, everything works perfect. Any ideas?

THERE IS NO CUBE! This program allows you for finger scrolling and launching other programs by swiping your finger on the screen. If you want cube you need either one of the flash clones (slither's cube, byka's cube) or kona_mountainbiker's HTC Cube.

What do you mean it is not excluded? Give me more details, please... For example, are you still able to launch something with gestures when your game is running? If yes, please, post here line from your FTouchFloConfig.txt.

I agree with schettj about the flick feature. If it could replicate the scrolling in PocketCM it would be PERFECT. This means:

- If the finger has stopped moving before it's taken off, it just scrolls as far as the finger went
- If the finger is still moving as it's taken off, it keeps scrolling but slows to a stop
- The speed of the flick scroll is dependant on the speed the finger is flicked (slow flick is only keeps scrolling a little bit before stopping, faster flick it scrolls furthar etc)
- If the flick is very fast it scrolls extremely fast right to the top or bottom

I can't imagine this would be too tricky to code, it would just need some calibration to get the values right.

To be honest, I don't like this line:
Exclude:rtmi

What is exe-file name of your game? Probably rtmi.exe, so please, try to put there: Exclude:rtmi.exe
and everything will be fine! :)

The same thing with other excluded applications: you should use window name (not so stable since window name might be changed depending, for example, on opened document as it is done in MS Word)
or you can use exe-file name. In this case you should put there exe-file name including extension even if don't see the extension in your file browser.

Limitations
1. Transcriber is not supported.
2. Scrolling doesn’t works in MSExcel, Resco Photo Viewer and some other applications with unusual approach how to use scrollbars. 
3. Windows internal calibration application will not be working while FTouchFlo is running.

Probably somewhere in future I'll manage to fix this issue...

1. DON'T USE EFROSTSMINIMIZE.EXE for minimizing applications. You'll minimize today screen the same way as other 20 users did. :) Look at page 8 or 9 or somewhere near... I've posted there correct minimize.exe.

Since you have a Touch cube, you may leave the gesture blank so it won't interfere with you swap your cube

can somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm trying to get the minimize app to work with FTouchFlo (im using a sprint vogue). I have the app on my device in the FTouchFlo folder and have the FTouchFlo config pointing to it, but for some reason it wont work. here is my config file...

They're not comparable for now since in verion 1.4.1. there is no smooth and kinetic scrolling. Wait for new version and you'll get all these things + a lot of other features!

how does this compare to SPBs smart scrolling? for those who have tried both, which do you perfer and why? (other than the fact that spb is limited to some programs and cost $$$)

u should disable Touch's scroll by modifying the registry:

change "enablescroll 0x1" to " enablescroll 0x0"

Then softreset your phone

When I disable "enablescroll" and reset my device it doesn't allow me to scroll at all, even though FTouchFlo is running...

One note I wanted to make. I read an earlier post documenting Internet Explorer scrolling vertically by page instead of by line. This was attributed to memory and processor problems.

For me, IE begins scrolling by page immediately after having used the Back button in IE and this does not seem to be related to anything else. Maybe its just me, but I wanted to give a heads up in case its the same for everyone.

At first:
1. DON'T USE EFROSTSMINIMIZE.EXE for minimizing applications. You'll minimize today screen the same way as other 20 users did. :) Look at page 8 or 9 or somewhere near... I've posted there correct minimize.exe.
2. Change Delay parameter to 100.

Already solved. As I wrote, new version has very smooth scrolling, so there is no possibility to scroll page by page :)

Hi! Do you mean that minimize.exe is working on a smartphone? :-\ Strange.. I didn't compile it for smartphone.

On the PPC if you'll minimize today you'll get just black screen and nothing will be working until you softreset the device. Even power off button stops working.

maybe you got the earlier version of mimimize.. my minimize no longer minimize the today screen.. it just do nothing.. but i have another slight problem with it..

if a second tier window is open in a program (such as in messaging/inbox, when reading an open message, or in a settings dialog of a program, or a program that has an active message box - all which requires an OK function to close the said second tier window), minimize doesnt work.. if you try to use the gesture assigned to minimize (or even press the HW button assigned to it), it'll just flicker the screen a bit, then does nothing.. it just refuses to minimize the current screen..

can the minimize exe double up as an OK button when an OK function is needed? or should its function just be OK/Close(X) (in normal WM fashion, close=minimize) and not just straight-hard minimize?

After using FTouchFlo v.1.4.1 on Eten x800, i have some wishes:
1.Opportunity to configure the tap zones in config file.
2.Opportunity to install unthenthible zone around the first tap zone (by offset from each side).
3.Opportunity to configure the release time for scrolling and launching.
4.Opportunity to launch application by taping and holding in Zone 2 or in special Zone.
5.On/Off options in config for each launching application and tap/scrolling function.

hi i have problem with the ftouchflo after installing it .....
i do have a problem with the text on mine, i mean in office words and messaging,
I cant select the text (that is to use stylus click drag a paragraph of text) to be copy and paste or something like that.......... i cannot select the whole text...maybe u can help me?? this applies in excel,words, messaging, notes, task ...but in appointment i can select a few text.......................also in resco explorer, normally i can click drag and select a few files to multiple delete (and no i dont wanna use the multi seelect, its extra buttons..)

and btw i have added all the above mentioned files intothe config for exclusion of scrolling and stuffs..........so maybe u can help me? thanx alot

Hi there!

I'm loving this app! Just going through a boring bug. When I try to configure new programs, by clicking Brows it shows only the apps stored in the memory card, while I have the most executable in the phone memory.

I also tryed to change it manually, by typing the path, but the programs shows: "can't find directory"...

Anyone can help?

I like this program but I have an issue with browsing internet explorer...every time if registers a "scroll" its the same as hitting page down/up

It's really hard to scroll on a web page when it is so sensitive to touch

I only really wanted this so that my IE explorer would work like opera mini
