Splash Screen (Boot) File Repository.
I Thought I would start a thread for the splash screens that people are using or those that people have designed for others.
Essentials for creating the splash screens are:
An art program to create the picture that you want, please make sure that your image is 240x320 pixels 24bit colour depth and save it as a .bmp
Follow the instructions in this post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334907&highlight=kaiser+splash) by pof (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=240671) (not exactly clear on the HTC rom tool section, just pick anything for the fields in the program and load the correct splash.nbh file by clicking the ... to the right of the splash1 field)
Here are a couple of pictures of some splash screens to get started with.
http://www.deathace.net/gfx/deathace.jpghttp://www.deathace.net/gfx/xda-kaiser.jpghttp://www.deathace.net/gfx/transformers.jpghttp://www.deathace.net/gfx/t-mobile.jpg
Put one of these files in the same directory as KaiserCustomRUUv1 and then run the program it will ask you questions make sure you answer yes to them all and then patch the phone. Once done it will automatically reboot your phone and show you the new splash screen.
Russ
Please make sure you edit your original post to add more pictures & files to save having lots of pages per person.

Is this for the first screen where it says 'smart mobility' or is for the animated HTC screen? If the latter, how do you make (which format) & upload an animated one?
Deathace

I have no idea on the animated one but I am only guessing when I say that its the smart mobility one at the very beginning when you power on the phone on.
As for the animated one if it is the windows start-up then that is a 320x320 pixel 24 bit .png file called welcomehead.96.png on my T-Mobile UK phone so I would suggest starting there in your search for replacing the animated one (if its a .gif then you are ok).

I like the easy way.
Just make your picture 240x320, save as welcomehead.96.png and copy to \windows\ on the Kaiser.
Bob's your Uncle.
I've always liked this one, it goes well with the Stock ROM's HTC logo when booting into Black. I believe that the welcomehead png's need to be 320 x320 to cover things when booting in landscape. These welcomehead splashes are so easy to just drop into the windows directory, no rom burning needed, getting the original file's read only attribute turned off is the only hurdle. I used resco file explorer to do it.

Due to the limitation of 4 images per post I guess we are going to have to make more posts per person.
Here are a couple of windows based ones I made. I actually have the carbon one on mine at the moment and it looks alot better on the device.
http://www.deathace.net/gfx/htcmobile.jpghttp://www.deathace.net/gfx/htcmobile_carbon.jpghttp://www.deathace.net/gfx/at&t_deathstar.jpg
The animated gif does not work on my t-mobile even adding the registry key of hklm/software/htc/startupanimation/giffile and pointing it to the relevant named file so I guess thats only for those who have changed their roms (unless your on t-mobile rom and its working please correct me if i'm wrong)

A little contribution for the third splash screen...
Here is my work :

All in .png format, 240x320 pix, rename it welcomehead.96.png and paste it in the windows directory.
I've tried to keep the TyTN II'spirit ~smart'n'pro !

You can't have two file with the same name so something must be different (unless the 2nd one has a (2). I found that I had to use resco file explorer to change the original welcomehead file's attributes and remove the "read-only" flag. Then I was able to copy over it with my own splash .png files.
Also the welcomehead files "should" be 320x320 to give you a correct image if booting in landscape but I never boot this way and I imagine others don't either.
Hey Deathace, do you have this screen in a plain version with no logos, just the swirl?

I got Resco File Explorer, I went to the windows directory and changed welcomehead.96.png to read only, but it doesn't stick. It immediately reverts back to read only. So, I can't copy the new file in.

copy the new file from your PC to the 'My Document' folder on the Tilt. Then on Tilt, copy (or move) the file from the "MY Docs" folder to the \windows directory. You get a prompt ot overwrite, say yes to that, then you will get a second warning about the file being replaced is a ROM file, say OK to this too....

Here is the perfect and pure HTC splash screen, I have tried in black and white backgrounds both, white looks better and I am attaching it.
Put CustomRUU.exe in the same folder as the .nbh file from this file and run it.

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone could post the oem att tilt boot splash screen where it displays the radio firmwares and such. I may have to return mine to Att to get a replacement , but as i was testing roms one changes it to a "mobility today " splash. Any help would be greatly appreciated !
Nevermind I got it :)
For anyone else in a similar position, just download this entire ROM and Install :)
http://rapidshare.com/files/67173936/RUU_Kaiser_CINGULAR_WWE_.exe
That will put the entire phone back to stock radio firmware and all :). If you changed the bootloader , thats the only other thing you would need to fix :) For help on that , go here :

don't delete it in \Windows, just overwrite it using Total Commander. If you delete it, Total Commander woudn't let you just do overwrite by copying it directly.

Hey I have a question about this.
I was flashing multiple ROMs before and everytime I flashed, the boot image would change.
For instance, if I flashed the AT&T test rom the boot image would show the AT&T logo with the words *TEST ONLY* on it. If i would flash to another ROM, it would go back to the normal AT&T (without the *test only*).
Then I flashed with the deathstar boot image...great...worked...no issues.
But, when i reflashed that AT&T test ROM it left the deathstar image and didn't reflash the *TEST ONLY* one.
Does anyone know why this is? They apparently would change from ROM to ROM before I did a custom flash, but now it just stays on the deathstar.
If I wanted to allow the ROM to flash it's own image back, how can I do this?
thx

Usually when someone/the chef wants to add their own image. It can be built with the rom/radio/splash or whatever using the HTC rom tool. I think I answered your question. I think.

Hmm...no i don't think so.
Why did I have the original AT&T boot image with my stock tilt and why did it change to the * TEST ONLY * image when I flashed the test image? And why did they keep switching back and forth when i switched ROMS?
It would seem to me that these ROMS had a boot image included that properly installed upon flashing.
So, my question then is after flashing my own image, why do these ROMs no longer load their own images when flashed?
If I wanted to return my tilt I would need to find the default boot image and reflash it separately, since just reflashing my orignal ROM leaves my "death star" image.

Some roms dont include a splash. Some do.
For instance, Dutty 99% of the time includes a splash, therefore it changes the one you flashed. Same goes for the test roms. They always include a splash. I have never dumped a test rom and it not have a splash.
However, some of the chefs dont include a splash so if you already have a splash it wont change if you splash their rom.

Hmmmmmmm. Now you got me stumped and wanting to go on a flashing spree.
I used to change my splash all the time, however it seemed a waste because I change roms so much that it would always change.
For instance, I changed my splash about a week ago and the tried L26 new rom and it changed my splash to the smart mobility splash.
Now, Im trying out a beta and it changed my splash again.

I grabbed a couple Nintendo wallpapers from a quick search that would look pretty good when chopped down. The only thing is, I think it might look cool if 'mobile' or 'mobile 6.1' were added in. My graphics editing abilities stop at MSPaint so if one of you more graphically inclined members has a little free time, maybe you could give it a go? I can resize them easily enough, but MSPaint+the Pretendo font looked horrible as I have no way (or skill) to make it blend in and look like the words belong there.
Links to the full wallpapers:

Anyone want to give it a go? :)

I have a question. Is it possible to add sound to the first orr third bootscreen? I have been searching the reg for the right key but cannot find it. I'm also not sure since the first screen is flashed to the rom., but I would think the third could have sound but dont know. Thanks

Just a simple BIOS boot alike.
From the moment I saw it I just loved it :D
Next day, obviously inspired by yours, I have created few of my own "BIOS-alike" splash screens, but all of them are too personalized to be published here ;)
However I have made yesterday a "generic" version for somebody, so in the spirit of giving back to community here it is:
http://img503.imageshack.us/img503/5200/kaisersplashbios0808xxbxd4.gif
as usual,
extract files from ZIP archive,
run KaiserCustomRUU (attached)
and follow the instructions.
enjoy :)

-888-: So if i were to want to do a little personalizing of my own...any tips?
You mean "personalizing" like I added owner's name, phone/email etc to the boot screen?
It is fairly simple if you're not afraid to flash your phone.
The "main splash" (the one that starts very first) is just a static picture that has to be loaded into ROM.
Steps/tools:
1 Create bitmap 240x320 with Paint.exe or whatever ;)
2 Convert to .nb with nb image converter
3 Inflate it to 256kb with patcher aka splash tool
4 Make .nbh with HTCRT
5 Flash it to your phone with CustomKaiserRUU
that's all,
you just got your own splash screen in the ROM
(I always use my name and contact email/phone number there on the splash screen, because if I lose my phone and even if someone who'll find it don't want to return it and will hardreset it - my name and info will still be there on the splash boot screen :D only flashing the phone with new ROM or flashing new splash can remove it, hehe)
IIRC Pof (or someone else) has made excellent tutorial somewhere here on xda about a year ago, so if you need detailed guidance just search for "custom splash screen" and follow instructions there, there is no need for me to repeat it here.
If you want nice "continuity" in your "splash party" like I have on my phones, you should use the same bitmap as a start frame of your animated.gif (of course converted to GIF) and make it "transform" into the welcomehead.96.png (converted to GIF) as a last image of your animation. It will look great if you give it some work and have some good idea what should be displayed there ;)
This is the standard way "splash party" happens:
Turn on the phone:
--> (1) Splash bitmap from ROM -->
--> (2) \Windows\animated.gif
and
--> (2) \Windows\StartUpSound.wav -->
(both play together, so match the length of your audio with the length of your animation)
--> (3) welcomehead.96png -->
--> Today screen (you can even use matching wallpaper here for continuity...)
there are also operator logos that can be added to be displayed between (2)animated and (3)welcomehead (as some carriers do) but its just useless bullshit prolonging phone's boot IMHO.
To have flawless "continuity" the trick is to match the last "screen" of previous display with the first screen of next displayed picture.
So, the bitmap from ROM-loaded splash screen (the very first one) have to be the first frame of GIF animation in the animated.gif where you lead it with transformations into last frame that should look like your last display in welcomehead.96.png, I don't know am I clear enough (english isn't my 1st language) so I hope you follow my train of thought here.
Anyways, your imagination is all you need in creating nice continuus boot "splash party" ;)
HTH & good luck.
/edit
If you have problem creating your own splash and want my "BIOS-alike" with addition of your name/contact info/whatever you want there, then just PM me, I may make it for you when I'm not busy at work (which most of the time I'm not LOL)

I like the easy way.
Just make your picture 240x320, save as welcomehead.96.png and copy to \windows\ on the Kaiser.

you need to use total commander or resco explorer to overwrite.

You can also use Schaps Adv Config (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070) to select the file from *any* directory instead of having to overwrite the original.

Einstein and some alien guy lookin around.
They're kind of big (many bytes). But I like them anyway :D.
I have Albert as the splash, startup anim, background and s2u anim wallpaper on my Tilt at the moment.
As time permits, I will try some other face materials on the head mesh etc. Maybe a halloweeny theme.
I kept it simple with black background to help reduce size and rendering time, plus I hate a busy wallpaper.
The Alien is a splash (boot static image) already available in the forum by Raiisak. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398050 , I just made the simple animated.gif of him.
cheers
