.vcf vCards

so i got my 8525 phone today at work, but i am unable to toransfer my contact onto it because i am locked down. however, i can put a vcf file of all my contacts, exported from Address book on OSX on a server and have the phone get it. i do that... it downloads them just fine, but then i cant get the phone to import them into contacts? any way of doing this? has anyone else experienced problems with vcf files? is there another format?
