View Full Version : Sluggish scrolling PIE?

In both Crystal 3 and Mysterious 1.0 scrolling in Internet explorer is very slow. I have not tried Gullum 9 beta so I cannot comment on that one.
The problem is apparent after a fresh flash, or hard reset before installing any application, and remains the same. It is so bad that PIE is almost unusable.
I am surprised that little has been mentioned about this issue.
I stumbled upon a thread on these forums for another device that mentions replacing the webview.dll in the windows folder with the one posted on the forum.
Well it works like magic, PIE becomes smooth and fast.
I would appreciate any feedback regarding this issue.

I always found PIE very slow. So, this should be the last site you go to using PIE
www.operamini.com
It's just a Java Applet, but it's the best browser ever for any mobile platform as far as I'm concerned! Give it a try. I use the beta version, just add /beta like this:
www.operamini.com/beta
:) ;)

this is an old and real issue mentioned on crystal's thread earlier and, unfortunetly,it's regarded as something trivial.
to my knowledge the sluggish scrolling of pie, other apps like mdict also affected, have existed since roms built on core 18125.
of course certain roms, evo8 for instance, had taken the issue seriously that not only pie but also all apps affected by the symptom have been working like a charm.
i'm glad this REAL issue is singled out.
hopefully someone might help. thanks a lot!

Sorry there, didn't mean to cause offense. I just don't think PIE is a well thought out browser for Prophet. Also, I didn't know this was related to other apps as well. Which other Apps have you had trouble with?

don't worry^^ your experience about pie is true. i myself browse the internet with opera 8.65 in liue of pie as well.
as to how many apps are affected, i'm not sure but one of the most popular dictionaries in the world--Mdict is certainly confirmed.
download Mdict for free >> http://www.octopus-studio.com/download.en.htm
@shylock
thank you very much for the attached! it works!
sincerely wish rom masters choose this file for the later roms^^"
Hello -
I tried to copy the DLL over the original in the /Windows directory - and it failed saying that the file was in use or write protected.
How does one replace this DLL?
Thx,
R.Fox

Do a soft reset and replace it as soon as the phone is booted up

I used Resco Explorer to copy and paste. It gives an error warning about possible data corruption, but I tell it to go ahead and soft reset.
