READ ME FIRST BEFORE YOU POST YOUR QUESTIONS
=======================================
S2U2 is a simple lock/unlock application which has the iPhone style slide unlocking. It can be used as a screensaver while you don't use your device. And it's has a CallerID function.

Prerequisition:
===============
- WM5 Phone or WM6 Professional devices
- free RAM: ~ 1M for QVGA; ~ 3M for VGA

Installation:
=============
- If you have Slide2Unlock installed, please uninstall it first & then soft-reset.

- After installation, there are 2 shortcuts created under \Program Files\S2U2:
iLock2.lnk - start/stop ilock2.exe (on the 1st run, it runs silently in the background; on the 2nd run, it closes iLock2 & S2U2)
S2U2.lnk - manually start S2U2 (be sure iLock2 is running in the background, otherwise the Battery status will not be updated)

- A shortcut for iLock2.exe is created automatically under "\Windows\StartUp" as well.

- Installation on Storage Card is not supported (for the sake of stability).

- There are 2 clock font files for selection - clock.zip (default) & clockH.zip. How to use?
1. stop iLock2
2. delete those files under \GFX\Clock (under the installed folder)
3. copy the extracted files to \GFX\Clock
4. start iLock2 & S2U2

- For hi-res devices, please extract files (follow the above steps) from either vclock.zip or vclockH.zip & copy them to \GFX\Clock under the installed path. Otherwise the clock will be shown as half-sized.

Configuration: (in the Registry under \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\A_C\S2U2. Please remember to RESTART iLock2 after any registry settings changed, otherwise it won't work):
================================================== ===============================
- The Date & Time format can be customized by changing the keys DateFormat & TimeFormat:
Date:
d Day of month as digits with no leading zero for single-digit days.
dd Day of month as digits with leading zero for single-digit days.
ddd Day of week as a three-letter abbreviation.
dddd Day of week as its full name.
M Month as digits with no leading zero for single-digit months.
MM Month as digits with leading zero for single-digit months.
MMM Month as a three-letter abbreviation.
MMMM Month as its full name.
y Year as last two digits, but with no leading zero for years less than 10.
yy Year as last two digits, but with leading zero for years less than 10.
yyyy Year represented by full four or five digits, depending on the calendar used. Thai Buddhist and Korean calendars both have five digit years. The "yyyy" pattern will show five digits for these two calendars, and four digits for all other supported calendars.
yyyyy Identical to "yyyy".

For example, to get the date displays "Wed, Aug 31 94"
set DateFormat to ddd',' MMM dd yy

Time:
h Hours with no leading zero for single-digit hours; 12-hour clock.
hh Hours with leading zero for single-digit hours; 12-hour clock.
H Hours with no leading zero for single-digit hours; 24-hour clock.
HH Hours with leading zero for single-digit hours; 24-hour clock.
m Minutes with no leading zero for single-digit minutes.
mm Minutes with leading zero for single-digit minutes.
s Seconds with no leading zero for single-digit seconds.
ss Seconds with leading zero for single-digit seconds.
t One character time marker string, such as A or P.
tt Multicharacter time marker string, such as AM or PM.

For example, to get the time displays "11:29:40 PM"
set TimeFormat to hh':'mm':'ss tt

- If you want to "auto start" S2U2 when the device is woke up, set:
Autostart to 1 (0 to disable)

- To turn off the LCD by S2U2, you may specify:
OffLCD to n (after n seconds idle, the screen will be off; minimum is 5 seconds; 0 to disable)

- When the OffLCD is enabled, you may specify whether the device is suspended or remain active but with LCD turned off:
BlankScreen set to 0 or 1 (0 to suspend the device; 1 to turn off the LCD only)

- For devices with the capability to turn off the backlight, you may set S2U2 to start automatically when the device's backlight is turned off by:
IdleStart set to 1 (0 to disable)

- Similar to IdleStart, ACIdleStart has the same function when the device is charging:
ACIdleStart set to 1 (0 to disable)

- Similar to OffLCD, ACOffLCD has the same function when the device is charging:
ACOffLCD to n (after n seconds idle, the screen will be off; minimum is 5 seconds; 0 to disable)

- Similar to BlankScreen, ACBlankScreen has the same function when the device is charging:
ACBlankScreen set to 0 to suspend the device; or 1 to turn off the LCD only

- If you want to install S2U2 to other folders or the storage card, please update the key:
S2U2Path to "the new full path"

- To turn off the LCD during a phone talk, set the key:
BlankOnTalk to 1 (0 to disable)

- To enable D-Pad input, set the key:
DpadOn to 1 (0 to disable)

- To show the Appointment information shown at Today's screen, set the key:
ShowAppointment to 1 (0 to disable)

- To change the format of Appointment's time, change the key:
AppointmentTimeFormat (use the same syntax as TimeFormat)

- Not to display the total no. of "Active Task", set:
ShowTask to 0 (1 to enable)

- To show the coming system alarm info, set the key:
ShowAlarm to 1 (0 to disable)

- To enable the Caller ID screen; set the key:
CallerID to 1 - full screen mode; 2 - thumbnail mode; 0 to disable

Only use the following 2 settings if your device have any abnormal behaviour:
- When NoPowerSuspend is set to 1, the OffLCD & ACOffLCD will be disabled. It'll untouch the Power Management and leave it back to the OS.

- When SafeMode is set to 1, iLock2 will not enter the "Unattended mode" (this is a special mode for the background jobs to run but without turning the LCD on). The device may need to soft-reset for SafeMode to be enabled.

- The default values are added on the first run of iLock2:
ACBlankScreen=0
ACIdleStart=0
ACOffLCD=0
AppointmentTimeFormat=h':'mmt
Autostart=1
BlankOnTalk=0
BlankScreen=0
CallerID=0
DateFormat=dddd', 'd MMMM
DpadOn=0
IdleStart=0
NoPowerSuspend=0
OffLCD=17
SafeMode=0
ShowAlarm=1
ShowAppointment=0
ShowTask=1
S2U2Path="\Program Files\S2U2"
TimeFormat=H':'mm

Command Switch of iLock2:
=========================
iLock2.exe accepts the following command switches:
-slide to start/invoke S2U2
-nomsg to not to show any message even it closes itself & S2U2
-refresh to reload the registry settings & restart S2U2

Known limitations & FAQs:
=========================
- How to change wallpaper?
- Create a jpg file with resolution the same as your device (QVGA is 240 x 320; VGA is 480 x 640); rename it to "wallpaper.jpg"; copy it to the gfx folder (default is \program files\s2u2\gfx\); restart iLock2. And the file "wallpaperL.jpg" is for the Landscape mode.

- How to edit the registry?
- You need 3rd party software like "Task Manager" & "Total Commander". Try to google them & they are very user friendly apps.

- After changing the registry settings, iLock2/S2U2 do not behave as instructed??
- Pls RESTART iLock2 after any registry settings is made.

- If "Password/Pin Lock" or "Owner Information" are enabled to display at wake up, S2U2 may cause the screen flicker?!
- Pls disable these functions. Besides, it'll break the CallerID function!

- My device's special Keys are not blocked by S2U2?! (e.g. HTC Touch, the camera key on some devices...)
- This is a device specific problem that cannot be resolved.

- Error: UserNotification has too much records?
- That means the notification database contains more than 500 records. It'll ruin the Autostart of S2U2. Pls use other s/w (SK Tools, Memmaid etc) to clean it up first.

- The quality of the CallerID pic is so bad even the original photo is in high quality?!
- DO NOT use the system contact to add photo to a contact. Use other s/w like Inesoft Address Book or PocketCM to update the photo.

- How to mute an incoming call when CallerID is enable?
- PRESS the volume up/down keys.

- After soft-reset, the first call's callerID is not shown sometimes?
- It's an OS issue, no solution yet.

- How to restore the system caller tab?
- set CallerID to 0 or uninstall S2U2, then soft-reset.

- Some keys are not blocked?
- Please check if you have installed any key mapping s/w that will break S2U2.

- My device shows a blank screen on start?
- It's not compatible with S2U2. It's a h/w problem & could not be solved.

- Some of my scheduled tasks did not as schedule, but it'll start when manually turn on the device?
- Try to set a longer OffLCD (17 seconds or longer).

- Some of my device's background jobs (like email sync or bluetooth connection) stopped unexpectedly when S2U2 is running?
- Try to enable NoPowerSuspend.

- NOT Compatible devices: SX66, Xda IIs (Blue Angel)

- NOT Compatible s/w: AEButton, WA3, RealVGA

Trouble shooting:
=================
If you find your device is hang with a blank screen or no response with any key or screen-touch, you may not need to reset it. Please follow these steps if your device has a camera button:
- press the camera button to invoke the built-in camera program
- press the end call button to go back to Today screen
- use Task Manager (a third party freeware; highly recommended) to close the S2U2.EXE

Still have an issue when running with RealVGA in 128 dpi and 96 dpi mode on XDA Universal

S2U2 only displays properly when running at 192dpi mode - at 128dpi mode the text and clock shift to the right and at 96dpi the clock and text shift way off right off of the screen

When running at 128pdi or 96dpi - the slider bar does not show. So it is very, very hard to get out of lock mode.

A_C, trying this new version, but stuck on a couple of issues,

caller id, my contacts are all setup as +44 ...... it dosent appear to pick that up only the 07867 .......

maybe a reg key to put custom country codes into?

I also have a spit second displaying of the original WM caller tab appear, its not to bad, as by the time ive got to my phone in a normal "it started ringing in my pocket" its back to S2U2 caller id.

What are the VGAfix, Speed, and ShowWeather settings?

can you expand on how to set these up? as im on a WVGA g900 and its working sweet anyway so im intrested in what the vgafix and speed options will achieve. the weather im personally not to fussed about but might use it

Top marks, its getting slicker and slicker i have to say

I've already told you it's the RealVGA's problem, not mine. If you need RealVGA, S2U2 is not suitable for you. FULL STOP.

@Carnivor
It simply follow the system's built-in phone no. format. No customization could be made. The VGAfix, Speed, and ShowWeather are only used in S2U, not S2U2 any more...

Hallo!

Sorry, but no caller ID on my TyTn.
Yes, I restarted S2U2 and I also tried soft-reset.

There seems to be no difference for my device between caller-id set to 0,1 or 2.
The scree is always displaying the original WM caller tab.

Also there is no

"when CallerID is enabled, & when a call is missed, a "Missed Call" will show who made that"

on my device.

For me there is no change to v0.60 but I am shure you will have a fix for that:)

I am really waiting for the "slide to answer"-feature. Will we have it in v0.8?

Thanks a lot for your work...

Ok, thats cool, i can just ignore the vgafix etc, i thought it strange they appeared installing this version and none of the previous s2us's

Also ive sussed the strange anomoly of +44 unknown contacts, i had spaces in the number, removed all spaces and its working fine.

Now were rockin!

Works perfect..

The only thing did not like what happened was that when i missed a call,
that my touch brings a notification about it and pushes it in front of s2u2..

but this is only for about 5 - 6 seconds

This by the way also happens with PocketCM, this will push it self in front of s2u2 when i get a sms.

The rest of it.. looks fine at the moment..
love it!! :)

hope that the problem that i had about my files on the storage card being loaded slow had to do with the setting: turn device off / turn lcd off

just 2 questions...
What does it actually do when the option turn off device is selected?

and what is: nopowersuspend
what does it do or not do?

Thank you!

Hi A_C,
If I have an opened application (RescoExplorer), after that I slide to unlock and appear the today screen, the application comes closed.
It is corrected this behavior? if yes, who can I make to avoid that S2U2 closes the applications in execution?
NB: with the same settings this did not happen with version 0.6
thanks and optimal job

-> Edit: after many tests I have see that it does not make it always , therefore not to consider "reliable" this post; if I will be able to reproduce the behavior, I will make to know.

In my Spanish ROM the message is "Teléfono: recibiendo..."

Same for me with my French phone and a message like "Téléphone - Appel entrant..." (the 3 points were important in previoous versions of S2U).
CallerId unfortunately doesn't work.
But the rest is OK, as usual :-)

@A_C

Thanks for your great efforts! I feel that this version is MUCH faster when starting up on my Trinity! Well done!

Just one minor inconvenience that I want to bring to your attention: When using with program AE Button Plus - a button remapping application, the Red Phone Button can be configured to kill the active program in the foreground and to hang up any call in progress. However, if iLock is running and after any incoming/outgoing call, the red button can no longer as configured. But when I exit iLock, the button comes back.

I guess it's something to do with the blank screen on call feature that somehow intercepts any call in progrss - although I did not enable it.

Can you please take a look at this minor problem if you have time? Thanks in advance.

Try the hot-built at post 23 pls.

Caller-ID now works for my germen tytn :)

But I have the following bug:

1) I get a call on my tytn. WM Caller ID is shown for a second, then Caller ID of s2u2 comes up. :)

2) I do not answer the call (I do nothing at all).

3) "Missed call" is shown :)

4) I wait for some seconds to let the device go to sleep..

5) Now I get another call.

6) Now the phone wakes up, shows the s2u2 screen, rings for a single time and shows the caller-id of s2u2 and then falls back to the standart s2u2-screen. The caller hears the busy-sound and I have no chance to answer the call.:eek:
This only happens with caller-id set to 1 or 2.

So the result is: when I once do not answer a call, all other incomming calls are blocked.

When I unlock (slide to unlock) the device once before the call comes in, everything works fine (caller ID works).

Hi A_C,
It is working for me on a french phone with the latest hotfix.

Only problem was for the first call where the caller appears as unknown. I call back a second later and he was then known and name was displayed...

READ THE README FIRST

@A_C
Thanks. I read, and re-read, and re-read thrice the readme, not twice. I hope I didn't miss anything there.

The only remotely related Q&A is this:

- Some keys are not blocked?
- Please check if you have installed any key mapping s/w that will break S2U2.

My problem is NOT that some keys not being blocked. It is just the Red key being blocked for longer than it should be - even after the screen saver is slid open. Hence, the "kill current task" function of the AE Button Plus failed.

From the S2U2 program's perspective, it locks all the keys when it's activated, and supposedly it should restore all key functionalities when it's deactivated. This, however, is not the case currently.

Of course, that may be the bug of AE Button Plus - but I have used other screen lock programs that do restore the functionality of the Red key correctly. I could be wrong - but that's my gut feeling.

I know your top priority now is the caller id - just in case if you have time to look at this, I'd greatly appreciate. Thanks.

0.70 works great on O2 xda flame with caller id

If S2U2 jumps in while i'm on the phone, i have to unlock to end the call.
Would be nice if i can press the red/green buttons.
Dpadon is set to 1

Hi,

First of all a big big thank you! S2U2 is amazing. I've just updated to v0.70 but got an issue.

When i'm listening to music with HTC Audio Manager and press the suspend button, S2U2 runs and music goes on for 10s but then is suspended =(

I've changed the BlankScreen to 1 so that S2U2 doesn't suspend the phone but it still does..

:D Yes you are. :) Roughly spoken it is not about the space you are using to provide the files but the RAM-Storage -> Difference between space of your storage card, space of your device, ROM and RAM. It is the RAM that is limited so much and everyone is complaining about.
The conclusion is that everyone is happy to install programms that don`t waste too much RAM.

i'm not following..

as far as i know there are 2 types of "storage/space"

1:space that is for storage which can be on the phone or on a card like micro-sd.

2:space that is being used for an active program to run..

to compaired with pc:
1: Hard disk
2: mb-ram

the first numbers i gave were the use of my "mb-ram"
and the second post with numbers were the use on my "hard disk"

is there a third storage space?

I must click on s2u icon in my running programs wa3 taskbar to bring s2u into focus. Then i can s2u. Right now its hiddenclick-s2u. Slide2Answer is not there but would be a good improvement. Everything works great - but now I suppse the phone could easily get answered (or ignored) by accident while in my pocket as one of the buttons could get pushed while CallerID is active and the phone is in my pocket.

I am having an issue with S2U2 0.7 and Bluetooth. I have a Bluetooth car kit, and with S2U2 installed, the Bluetooth intermittently disconnects and then reconnects. Since this is my 1st time using S2U2, I cannot report if this was a problem with older versions. As soon as I uninstalled S2U2, the problem disappeared, so it is definitely related. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

hi A_C,

i have been testing your app patientlyon my ipaq hx2495 (WM5) after each release ever since you rewrote & relaunched it. however, even though my device runs on WM5, S2U just gives me a black screen when i launch it. the only way to get out of this semi-freeze is to map a program close app to a button or finger swipe app launcher and launch it to be able to return to the today screen. it's the same for all the rewritten S2U versions.

makes me wonder if your rewritten app is only meant to be run on a phone pda and will not work on a non-pda. is this really the case?

OK, I am having a fairly serious issue. While the S2U seems to work fine if I enable it with the icon, if the phone is turned off, then turned back on, it not only flickers between the today screen and S2U (and wifi while it find the signal again), but is completely unusable. I will see the S2U screen, but all touches on the screen are read by the programs behind S2U. Meaning, I am trying to slide to unlock, and I am getting errors from Media player, as I am actually starting the program behind S2U, and I can't actually use the slide. Beyond that S2U goes away when the program is launched, then comes right back, and I am stuck in the middle. Can't use any programs, but can't unlock the phone.

Is anyone else having this issue? I am surprised so many are using it with no problem here... maybe I am jealous. :cool:

BTW, I tried disabling the "prompt for password after..." as well as the iLock2 update to no avail.

Any ideas?

No, I didnt press the red button. The phone is just lying on the table..

It stays the same:
I get a call and I do not answert it, I just wait, til the caller gives up.
I wait till the phone goes asleep again.
I get a call again, now the phone only rings once and than the caller hears the busy sign and I cannot answer the call.

is this possible:

i map the app to a hardware button and it starts S2U2. while unlocking it, the app gets fully closed and when i click on that button again, it is started and visible.

i don't like the way, that is has to be loaded with iLock2 first and then started with S2U2. this should happen together and when i unlock the ppc, it should be unloaded from the ram.

i think this app starts very fast, so i don't want to hold it in the ram all the time. (i also don't use the callerId or the lock on wakeup feature)

edit: another thing that could be better: the slider doesn't have to be at the bottom of the screen. for a one handed unlocking i must use the thumb of the hand, which is holding the device. such a vertical gesture with the thumb is much easier at the top of the screen. with the slider at the bottom it is not that easy:
with the ppc in my right and and sliding with the right thumb to the right lower corner of the screen is not as ergonomical as with a higher placed scroll bar. the device could fall down if i am on the street and i have to hurry for example.

yes, that is not the real iphone style, but taking that idea and developing it further, is better than just rebuilding that interface - and in this case i think you already have developed it further :)

Any feedback on the power consumption of the app if it is left running? (I seem to have a drain on the battery with the app running)

I am experiencing the same thing unfortunately. I had let my phone charge with the screen off, to 95%, then let it shut the backlight off after 1min, followed by powering off after 2 mins. I awoke my device about 20 mins later and it was at 67% which sucks.

I know that I had this issue with previous S2U2s, but with 0.6 I didn't seem to experience it. I LOVE the caller ID feature and it works worlds better than it did in S2U, but I can't help thinking that more power is being consumed while S2U2 is waiting to answer a call (also, since it's responsiveness is lightning quick).

I _will_ keep testing and logging my results however, and post any relevant points if i discover any.

Thanks again so much for this app and your continued efforts A_C, I am SO close to being perfectly happy with this app and will surely donate once it's good to go!

From the look of the icons it looks like they work the same as claunch. Which means that its a .bmp file with 255,0,255 as the (pink) color for your transparency. So anything that is color 255,0,255 will be transparent in s2u.

Well, I do still have a bit of a problem with focus (as some others do). When an appointment reminder goes off, sometimes I end up not being able to click anything as the screen flickers back and forth between the Today screen and S2Us. Using my hardware button to "open" S2Us forces S2U2 to the foreground and i can proceed normally with closing S2U@ first.

Sometimes the reminder comes to the foreground and i can deal with it properly, sometimes not.

Having a properly mapped hardware button gives me an easy work-around for this annoying little problem.

OK I'm not trying to be a thread spammer here, but I said I would report back with more info, and I'll tell you what I've found so far. Basically, after my device hit 67% charge, I did not plug it in to charge further. I wanted to see if it would keep draining. After receiving a call, speaking for about 30 seconds, then letting the phone shutdown LCD, then power off, I waited and waited, and the charge actually began to rise back up to 75% (where it is now, about 2.5 hours after my last post).

I know that some may be thinking that Windows or some other thing is reporting my battery status incorrectly, but I've changed nothing other than S2U2 in the meantime. Maybe there was a little glitch and my battery status went down but has since recovered, I'm not totally sure. Anyways, other than that it's really working quite kick-ass for me, as the Caller ID response time is now actually usable.

I'll keep playing around and posting more info as usual (hopefully it's not a waste!)

Endless thanks to you again A_C!!

if its a png file then save it as png. I'm pretty sure the pink color will be transparent. So you will need to either have a square image or fill in the space with color 255,0,255 in a paint program that you want transparent.

Hey guys, this is for those of you who are making your new bitmaps to use with S2U2 and having problems with transparency. This is actually from A_C's first post in the v0.6 thread which states:

"(for transparent effect, the top left corner pixel must be the transparent color)"

Even though this is quite easy to understand, it basically means that whatever colour the top-left-most pixel is in your graphic, S2U2 will make that the transparency key. So, to get MagicPink (255,0,255) to be your transparent colour, just make sure that the 1,1 (x,y) pixel of your graphic is in fact 255,0,255. Keep in mind that software like Photoshop may apply Anti-Aliasing and this could turn some MagicPink colours into some...well, not so MagicPink colours, but close. Without getting into too much graphic program details, just make sure that your top-left pixel is whatever colour you want to be transparent.

I hope I didn't confuse anyone with my longer-than-needed post on this subject, but sometimes I tend to go on a bit of a finger-digression with my keyboard.

Anyways, hope this helps!

UPDATE on Treo 700WX issues:

1. If I have Caller ID enabled, it works well but I cannot answer using my wired headset.

2. If I do not enable Caller ID, I can answer using my headset but then the screen does the weird alternating focus thing between the Today screen and S2U2 that I can fix by activating S2U2 with my mapped-to-S2U2 hardware button.

Other than that all is good. I do have an occasional problem where S2U2 does not activate when it should, but I kind of write those off as anomalies as, among other things, it happens randomly and I cannot recreate it with any reliability whatsoever.

Thanks for the update, but as in Slide2Unlock, I have the Unknown caller issue. :(

Something I saw was that when a call comes in, the default ringtone plays with an unknown ID, a second later, the default ringtone stops and plays the personalized one, and the unknown label changes to the right text.

Now, what I think it's happening is that the call comes in, s2u2 gets the unknown string before this one updates.

I don't know if there's a way for s2u2 to wait a bit so it can pick up the caller ID string after is updated.

BTW, my device is the Hermes with the latest official ROM.

Great job!

Great app! Congratulations.

But... There must be some kind of screen alignment problem.

Using landscape mode screws everything up. When I turn the display into left handed portrait mode thing on the "Attachment1" happens (the stylus points at the point where you have to start sliding the bar - 1 cm up and left to where it should be - discovered accidentaly).

Then, after s2u and turning the screen to right handed portrait, if S2U2 is executed the screen is completely out of place and I have to soft reset.

If I turn the screen back to vertical from any of the portrait modes, "Attachment2" happens. The S2U2 screen is misplaced and it's nearly impossible to s2u.

I read everything (I think), I tried different wallpapers, or no wallpapers at all, I tried to realign the screen in both modes, I also tried with and without fTouchFlo. Nothing matters, it's still the same.

Keep up the good work!

Any ideas?

-Sterling

I had the same problem, I just removed and re-installed... voila the problem was solved

thank you for all your hard work, I asked you before about when we gonna be able to customize background, topbar and such and you told me to delete the topbar to have the transperent background clock, it didnt work, when I delete the topbar s2u2 stopped working.
I hope one day the whole s2u2 can be customized (skins) I made this in photoshop, my idea of how maybe HTC users would like s2u2 to look like. HTC now is in top market and everyone seems to like HTC interface more than Iphone.

I think you'll just have to replace the topbar with a transparent image...
btw.. your theme is really cool... only if you could change the clock background to blue like the one in phone...
could you please share your background and clock resources?

@A_C

I have done further testing and debugging and here's my findings. The setup is like this:

My configuration does NOT have BlankOnTalk enabled.
Only iLock is running - S2U2 never run.
I suspected it's AE Button Plus the culprit, so I give it up.
Instead I used the standard WM Button Setting Applet to call "VJButton -phone" to end the call or to close the current application.
The result is the same - it has the Red button stuck (as a matter of fact, any button assigned using the Button Applet).
And any subsequent pressing of the button in question would refuse to perform any further actions like closing the active task, etc.
When iLock is exited, the button would then function again, including ending a call as well as to closing active tasks.

It appears to me that:

iLock traps and hooks with the "end call" function of WM.
Any external application that calls "end call" function will be trapped inside that hooked "end call" function.
When iLock is exited, the function of the button in question restored due to the possible restoration of the "end call" function.
I can try to write a Mortscript instead of VJButton to do the job of VJButton, but I suspect the result would be the same.

Of course, the above is just my observation and black box blind-guess of how iLock works. I could be wrong.

But if it's true, then how about if you could just leave the red button (the "end call" function to be precise) alone when BlankOnTalk is off? I think this would be the fastest fix to the problem.

Thanks.

@A_C
Thanks. I read, and re-read, and re-read thrice the readme, not twice. I hope I didn't miss anything there.

The only remotely related Q&A is this:

Thanks.

I can second this problem ...

Besides the focus issue, this seem much slower when a call comes in ...

I tried turning off the Caller ID, but it only marginally improved things.

Went back to .60 and answering calls is back to normal ... quite fast.

BTW, I still have to keep NoPowerSuspend set to 1 to bring it out of suspend mode 100% of the time.

Back to the beginning of my problem.
I'm using phonealarm software which is able to automatically switch between profiles. In each profiles you can specify a program to start when the profile is selected.

I want to lock my pda when I change the profile. So I have set S2U2.exe as the start program in the profile. Of course ilock is already running (started at boot time).
Phonealarm is able to automatically change the profile when you plug your pda to the charger. Very interesting when you plug it in the car support.
I'd like to unlock the pda, so close S2U2.exe when I plug my pda.

The three options of ilock.exe can't close S2U2.exe without closing ilock.exe.
So when the pda goes back to the previous profile which start S2U2.exe, S2U2 misses informations like battery and others.

Hope I'm clear !

Thank you.

well, if you have the total commander everyone else has, then you havent looked everywhere,
if you go to:

you will find at the top of the list:
\\
you click this and then you go to:
registry
and then you go to:
HKCU
after that:
Software
after software you go to:
A_C
and if you click on:
S2U2
you will end up with S2U2s registry thingie

this it what it eventually will look like:
\\\registry\HKCU\Software\A_C\S2U2\

please thank me for my time, as i find it rather noobie to ask such questions,

My Sprint 700WX rings just fine.

I suggest:

1. Remove S2U2. Does it ring now? If so, reinstall S2U2. Does it still ring?

2. After that, if the problem persists, start uninstalling and re-installing third party software as much as you can until something makes it work and you will have identified the conflict - which may help pin down the problem.

Hmmm... It definately does not work on mine whenever Caller ID is enabled - even is Safe Mode - perhaps other with a Treo 700WX could try it out? I just won't use your Caller ID - heck, the system caller ID "breaks through" S2U2 to steal the foreground focus anyway, and works well most of the time.

I still have that odd problem with focus, though - same as many others do. It's not competely consistent as it when it heppens. This looks like a definate bug.

This is becoming quite an interesting application, I was about to start writting one myself when I found this one, so I won't bother. However some features would be really welcome:

1- Slide to Answer or Reject call (2 sliders, 1 green, 1 red)
2- For the slide to Answer, all butons should be disabled (GAPI: GXOpenInput normally does the trick)
3- You should have an option to disable the screen saver part and use only the Call notification part.

Great job btw. (a quick question, how did you manage to get rid of the default notification bubble? Did you just put yourself topmost, used findwindow and kill it?)

Thanks.

very nice App and it's very fast (was using old S2U...), Thx!
Noticed 2 little Bugs:
- When somebody calls with callerid enabled the battery icon gets empty...
- Sometimes the App needs around 3-4 rings to come up with the Callerid and the buttons...

Would be nice if you could add an option to append all missed calls to the list (show not only the last missed calls, instead something like "Office missed<br>Home missed....")

Thanks for your work,

AC - great app!!

Been reading up on the command line switches for lock2.exe

-slide switch doesn't seem to work.. I would have expected it to load ilock2 (if not already loaded) and invoke s2u2.exe But it doesn't do that for me...

-refresh ... is that supposed to just unload ilock2? or is it supposed to be restarted...

like @mvtl9902, I'm trying to build a set of profiles for Phonealarm that automatically load s2u2 when undocked from my cradle... and then "unlock" once cradled again... trying to find the correct command line switches for both...

Hi AC, some bugs to report with the latest version and the treo 700wx...

For the most part, callerID works. However, when a call comes in it would let me reject with a push of the red button that comes on. I can answer fine but reject does not work. are there any fixes I can try?

Also, some issues when a text message or notification pops on, conflicts with s2u2 in that it doesn't always let me see the message without flashing s2u2 also (hard to explain) but the slide part conflicts with the today screen I think...I looks like other people have had similar problems.

Any fixes?? thanks for all of the hard work!

Thanks for the response. Since I have a key mapped to S2U2, this is more of an annoyance then anything else for me. The workaround works just fine for now. I'm sure there will be a proper solution eventually.

As for my caller ID with my hard-wired headset, it simply won't work with my device/configuration so i won't use it. No big deal, I am not losing any functionality anyway.

- The quality of the CallerID pic is so bad even the original photo is in high quality?!
- DO NOT use the system contact to add photo to a contact. Use other s/w like Inesoft Address Book or PocketCM to update the photo.

Hey I have a good news for this ! --> HTC Album Photo ... it's the new htc program and you can add NICE picture to your contact directly .. and the quality is still there YEAAAAH :)

Tested the latest SKU2 on the O2 Atom with WM5. Works a treat. CallerID works well, but missing the slide to answer capability from the old SKU.

Also there seems to be no weather panel in the registry like there was in SKU. Possibly not implemented yet?

Have you enable the registry key CallerID? (read the readme's Configuration for details)
If still not... what's your device's language? OS? Could u post a screen shot of the WM's caller tab?

Thank you A_C, I uninstalled it and installed it again, enable caller ID and it works like a charm now :)

AC this works really nice. Couple of questions:

1. once the lock is one...I can touch the screen and it doesnt block any of the items...so I can hit the screen and I can open email, IE...etc...while S2U2 is running. Also, the slider key doesnt work...

2. The autostart isnt working.

I have a Verizon xv6700. I have to use the pin feature because my company requires it for our email system

thanks

AC - great app!!

Been reading up on the command line switches for lock2.exe

-slide switch doesn't seem to work.. I would have expected it to load ilock2 (if not already loaded) and invoke s2u2.exe But it doesn't do that for me...

-refresh ... is that supposed to just unload ilock2? or is it supposed to be restarted...

like @mvtl9902, I'm trying to build a set of profiles for Phonealarm that automatically load s2u2 when undocked from my cradle... and then "unlock" once cradled again... trying to find the correct command line switches for both...

I wanted to do something similar to what your asking... I just wanted it to be something that worked from a mode in PocketZenPhone instead of the cradle thing... Here are the mortscripts I use for this...

iLockOn.mscr
h = ProcExists("iLock2.exe")
if (h = 0 )
Run("\Program Files\S2U2\iLock2.exe", "-refresh")
Run("\Program Files\S2U2\iLock2.exe", "-slide")
endif

iLockOff.mscr
h = ProcExists("iLock2.exe")
if (h <> 0 )
Run("\Program Files\S2U2\iLock2.exe", "-nomsg")
endif

The way I have it set up is that the shortcut is out of the startup so that the mode in PZP handles it. I have 3 modes for each of them, Loud, Low and silent. Each of these just sets the notifications and such, but one set turns S2U2 on, the other set off...

I could probably have skipped the -refresh switch, but I think I was going to have it refresh ever time I chose a mode that used S2U2 and didn't bother taking it out when I got it to work like this.

Hope this helps!

thanks for great software. And one idea which may be very useful for many users: one more button on incoming call - ringback. E.g. somebody phones you, you press the third button (ringback), you phone drops the call and makes the ring back to caller. Can we hope? :)

Is there any option to disable FTouchFlo (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=338143) while S2U2 is working? FTouchFlo takes control over S2U2 and launches program instead of move slider to unlock.

Next case. When I receive appointment remainder, the S2U2 goes into background. This is also when I launch program with FTouchFlo. S2U2 doesn't lock the screen, buttons.

My 2 years old son is confused when he can't move the slider and launch PencilBox (http://www.mentalmotions.com/showpage.php?page=pencilbox). :D So please, hurry up... ;)

DCHigley - thanks again for the pointers... I made a slight change to iLockOn.mscr to suite a special event that I noticed. If I softreset, iLock2.exe might be on (since I keep it in my startup), so to ensure that the slider occurs, I added an else statement:

h = ProcExists("iLock2.exe")
if (h = 0 )
Run("\Program Files\S2U2\iLock2.exe", "-refresh")
Run("\Program Files\S2U2\iLock2.exe", "-slide")
Else
Run("\Program Files\S2U2\iLock2.exe", "-slide")
endif

Again, thanks for the pointer and sharing the sample code!

Always my problem with S2U2 ...

If I press a key when S2U2 is running on the screen, OK, keys're locked, but when device is in black screen after few minutes, If I press a Key, I'm come back to windows screen and S2U2 stay OK in applications in background.

I'll never get this with S2U, NEVER.

I think I found a bug..
I have TOM's 4.3
I installed v.0.70 and I realised that:
If I close the S2U2 and I receive a phonecall I can't see who is calling...
Normally when you receive a call a pop up appears showing who is calling..
With S2U2 this pop-up never shows...
Only the labels for Answer - Ignore...

Is this really a bug.?
I removed S2U2 and problem solved...
Is this because of TOM's ROM (incompatible) or is this because of S2U2..

BTW beautifull piece of code...

P.S.
Please don't answer me that I don't have to close S2U2
I have to close it sometimes because no matter if I run a program it keep showing up... (e.g. Destinator)

Thanks in advance for your answer

hmm, this bug wont exists on my german original Touch.
i dont have any Pictures in my contact list. If a call comes in i'll show the caller's number and Name.

But Yesterday i got a cunfused bug. A call comes in. I push the green button. I want to close the call. The display was off and i push the red hardware button and the call ends.
After that turn of the display again and the S2U2 Screen is shown and flashing all the time. I have to soft reset the device to solve the Problem. But this wasnt the first call i've made. In any other calls i got no problems.
I'll take an eye of this.

This (the focus flashing back and forth) is a known issue for more than just Treos with a known work-around.

Assign a key to "S2U2." When this happens, press that key - the focus will be forced to S2U2 which can then be closed normally (with the slide).

Just out of curiousity, which hard button did you assign it to? What have you found to work best?

Also, I currently have it set to noPowerSuspend (1) and when I go to hit the red button, nothing happens but the "answer" and "ignore" soft buttons that flash in the bottom menu bar (the treo buttons on the button, not the s2u2 red and green buttons) and look like they are messing with the s2u2 green and red buttons. If I hit ignore (or the red button), then I lose the use of the green button too and I cannot answer the call at all. However, if I do not hit ignore or the red button at all, I can answer by using the green s2u2 button....make any sense, kind of hard to describe.

Any thoughts?

Hallo A_C, I'm happy that you are ready to make support of international languages.

Russian translation:
in - в
day - день
days - дней
hour - час
hours - часов
minute - минута
minutes - минут
unknown - неизвестный
MissedCall - Пропущенный звонок
No Service - Не поддерживается (as no support); Нет связи(as no connection)
Flight Mode - Режим полета

A_C, pay your attention, that Russian much more complex than English, therefore exact conformity can be established only in context. Direct translation can appear ridiculous sometimes. There are most often using word meanings in software.

Since there is another italian translation, I vote for this. :) It's a bit better! I'm not sure for the "in" translation. I would translate it as "in". But what is the context of the sentence?

Thank you ferelo

Thanks Wes,

I have managed to reassign the side button - though the volume buttons would work, too, and that's what I used before someone came up with a way to reassign the side button..

Also, I have turned off CallerID - we really gain no additional functionality from S2U2 CallerID anyway.

As for the "red" button - the simplest thing to to ALWAYS activate S2U2 if the screen is flashing, then slide it to disable it and gain back regular functions. Simple, fast, efficient. It's not the way it is supposed to work, of course, but it is a pretty slick and reliable work-around.

Hi A_C.

I have a Question.
I don´t like the caller because the Windows Caller cames in front - but i like the MissedCall Feature. It is possible that tha MissedCall feature works without CallerID?

When i missed a Call it comes the Icon for missed Call and the Text Missed Call (Office Missed Call).

When i delete the notification the Icon and the Text (Office Missed Call) disepear.

Thank. I can´t wait for the S2U2 with Languages Support :-D

Please be more specific!

Do you know what's a registry editor?

Do you have one?

Can you find the reg key?

Tell us more , so we can help you. With just 'I don't understand" we can't help you!

I think that´s the problem. I have no idea what´s a registry editor (i just found out where the reg key is but I´m unable to edit it). :confused:
I installed the application in my qtek but I need to edit some features in order to have it working properly.
I thank in advance for all your help. :) :)

Awesome program once again.
However I have some problems on my Sprint Mogul.

Right after I get a text, I tried to unlock the phone but then my today screens mixes with the S2U2 screen and looks all garbled. However the phone is actually unlocked and I can press the text button and see my new text.
When looking at my task manager (htc xbutton 1.5) I see S2U2 running on the background and if I select it the screen is locked once again.

The other issue I had was that when I wake up the phone it would turn off again after like 2 sec. If I turn it on again after that it works good for 15sec.

Thanks!

my wish ....hehehe.... to display a bigger caller pic.
otherwise if too small to view, it would be abit pointless for a pic
