Swiftblade, thanks for this rom, I'm always looking for the perfect rom and this is very close to it :-)

I have one tiny tiny glitch though. Have you changed anything about I.E. I have a simple web page set up that I use as a start page for I.E. - www.dur.ac.uk/s.g.applegarth/mobile.htm

Theres nothing clever here, simply a series of links i tweak every now and then to give me a series of buttons to my fave pages.

On your rom (and one other if memory serves, it behaves differently and I loose the two columns..

I can mod my page to get it to work but im really curious about what is different here to the ship roms.



Any thoughts anyone ?

It is almost impossible for me to deal with third party software incompatibility problems. You may want to go back to the software provider for a solution.

I just flashed 3.02. Why not HTC Task Manager 2.0.30995??? HTC Task Manager 1.51 is the original X-button that comes with HTC 2.20 Rom which explained the obvious choice. Furthermore, V2.0 uses more memory for the same function. It's important what worksl and not always the latest version. Cheers.

And for it to work, you need to manually create all the directories and sub-directories stated in the registry keys for it to work.

As for OneNote, I am afraid you have to do a search in the forum for a working installation cab. Alternatively, you can try V2.10 in which OneNote is included. Cheers.

From the original stock rom, it was 78MB of RAM, which means you are right.
RAM = 78Mb.

14mb more probably due to the pagepool size.

It works fine in my device. Using it all the time. Possible conflicts with some apps yuou just installed. Try to trace back.

Thanks for the kind offer. Actually, the points that I earn from Rapidshare downloads is the only reward for my work on the roms. But there are ppl who really do have problems with rapidshare. You post the download URL here and I will put it up in the first post.

WM5torage does work in V3.02 but not in V3.01.

This seems to be V1.21. It had been fixed from V2.01 onwards and it's permanent at let softkey. Unless you have reinstalled and changed it accidentally.

Haha... no there should load up the same. I changed some of the applications in some rom versions.. It seems that you are switching between different rom versions and a bit confused:confused: Then again I may be wrong... Cheers

It should stick if you enter the favourite people from the cube and not the other way round. HTC has disable that tab and turns off that feature from the Home plug-in. We forced it to show but it has limited function now.

I haven't try S2U2 before so I can't help. As for original rom, it depends where and which vendors you buy it from. If it is WWE rom, you are in luck because there are many around for you to pick and choose. Others, you have to search a little bit.

For upgrading to this rom, yes just run START and follow the instructions on the screen.. Cheers

Ok I am estatic..... THIS is the best ROM... Ya know the task manager did not apparently load properly, when I told you it disappeared it did after that soft reset. Funny thing is the task manager was not in my settings.... and also the 10 apps I was talking about was from the comm manager.... the last one came up missing along with the task manager... the beam... I believe....

I hadn't loaded any of my little touches yet so I thought what the hell do a hard re set and see what happens and was willing to reflash. The hard reset did it... I now have task manager... W5torage is working :D and I got the beam back on my Comm Manager. SO if anyone is having problems with some things maybe hard reset????

Yes, something you get a bad flash. Some say it happens 1 in every 50 flashes. And yes the best solution is to do hard reset.

The 10th apps in the CommManager is missing because when you use Advanced Configuration, you forgot to set the 10th app - Beam. Advanced Configuration defaulted 9 apps only....:D

just flash to v3.02 for one day...my battery life problem seems to be solved now..one full day and my battery life is still 50% (back to normal)...

The answer is no. All my roms do not include SPL. I think most custom roms don't include SPL. So your current SPL remains after flashing the rom. And yes, you can still use ELF_USPL-v1 after flashing this rom. Cheers

Yup....just flashed the Touch and installed the S2U2....runs great. I would recommend this for those using the Touch. Better feel compared to using S2U2 on my TyTN II :p

pls help i've been trying to upgarde my upgrade my phone from 1.15.721.1B WWE to new blue WWE ROM build 18508 for many times now but it always display invalid vendor iD:(

this are the processes ive tried

1 i download the and run ELF_USPL and perform the steps and its succesful
2. after i run the ELF_USPL my device restarts and it says the my rom was upgraded(?)
3. after the process i unzip and run the NEW_BLUE_WWE 18058
and finally it always says that errror"INVALID VENDOR ID"

here's my device version

ROM: 1.15.721.1B WWE
RADIO: 02.95.90
PROTOCOL:4.1.13.35
EXTROM: 1.15/721.101

Help!!! I'm getting the exact same problem as Markiraz!

I was able to update my ROM from 1.11.709.1B to 1.15.703.3B successfully earlier today, but could not update successfully to the new Blue Touch ROM.

I was able to CID Unlock successfully. But after I ran the Blue Touch 3.02 update, when flashing at 3%, I get the INVALID VENDOR ID error.

To be specific, the error shows:
ERROR [294]:INVALID VENDOR ID

And has a serial number-like list on the bottom of the error screen: DPRRH;68-EMH355670-DPRRH568-EMH3/01*

I have tried:
* taken out micro SD memory card AND SIM card
* soft reset the device
* hard reset the device
* installed Cert_SPCS.cab and EnableRapi.cab onto Touch prior to running CID Unlock

Your kind help and advise is greatly appreciated.

Is it possible for you summarise the fixes available for the problems people have encountered to date ? Or is my perception wrong and they aren't many issues at all?

Your rom is super, I just have one small problem.
I use batterystatus 1.04, to easly connect to my bluetooth headset (A2DP), so I just use the tray icons.
When I want to connect to my headset, bluetooth is being diabled.
I had this problem also with V3.01, not with rom v2.01

Any Idea?

1. Go Start-->Setting-->Connections-->USB to PC-->uncheck "Enable Advanced Network Functionality"
2. Restart your computer or laptop.
3. Re-connection to USB to activesync

this is fresh boot with doing nothing to phone..



also Messaging and Comm Manager does not show up in the task list on the upper right corner even if it's running.. it does show up in Settings -> Memory

there may be other programs that not show up the same way... if i enable quick menu will it contribute to memory leak????



and can you explain what glossy black bar is??? i ran it .. it did something.. but it gives me no options or anything to turn off..

Please help Swiftblade! This is my first time to flash a ROM and i followed your instructions to the letter. But my touch screen turned blank with a message that says "unable to open log file...tiny_console_init done". when activesync turned gray and the ROM update utility came on, it said to connect the unit via activesync. But i couldn't because my unit had "turned off?!?" because of the cid unlocking procedure. Please help!

edit: I just soft reset my touch and all is back to normal! I read your response from an earlier query similar to mine and now know that i shouldn't have extracted the files to another folder. Whew!!! Thought i bricked my touch! I don't know if i'll be able to get up the nerve to flash a ROM again! Thanks anyway!!!

I may have misunderstood you. If all this while you are referring to some of the GIF files in the original rom, then yes I have removed them to save some memory space. You can find them in the zip file "Removed ringtones & themes" attached in the first post. Cheers

The 27 Mb is only at initial startup. I wish to have that much memory all the time too..:D

This is the limitation of OEM HTC Task Manager 1.51. You have to use some 3rd party task managers to resolve that issue. And no, this is not memory leaks we are referring.

Some black tsk file do not display the top and bottom bars as black as they should. so the glossy black bars is to correct that. It has no effect in other colour scheme tsk files.

Hey fredfox.... most of the bugs and glitches were with v3.01. These have all been resolved in V3.02.

I don't use A2DP headset so I don't really know. But for myself, I have no problem using the batterystatus tray icon to connect BT to my handfree earpiece. In fact I use it all the time.

BTW, which version are you using? Look like it's more of a 3rd party software problem. You may want to pose this question in the software developer's forum for assistance. Cheers..

if i run quick menu will it further contribute to the memory leak?? i do like that program.. but in previous posts you said the memory leak was due to quick menus...

It depends on what apps you have installed and running... Batterystatus and opera mini and IE are killers.. Usually free memory will hovers around 21 - 23 mb ...

It is almost impossible for me to comment on 3rd party software's perfromance and behaviours. I got to work it yourself or approach the software developer for an answer. What I can share is my personal experience if I do use them.. I am afraid I haven't use MemMaid before.

I second to mmxymm. I have the exact same problem. I have tried applying Cert_SPCS.cab and EnableRapi.cab but still had no luck.

I was able to successfully CID unlock the unit and flash Xtriny's "Xtriny.X4S WWE Blue" ROM but was unable to successfully updat the v3.02 Blue Touch ROM. I get the INVALID VENDO ID error.

I really wanted to try your Blue Touch ROM. Thanks in advance for your help. Keep up the good work!

Hey akmurthi... To get the WM5Torage in V3.01 to work, try adding the following registry key using PHM RegEdit app and do a soft reset.

Add:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\DebugZones]
"wm5torage"=dword:7

As to your other question of adding a call button, this is the work of a developer. Search the forum, maybe there is one out there. Cheers.

I don't use A2DP headset so I don't really know. But for myself, I have no problem using the batterystatus tray icon to connect BT to my handfree earpiece. In fact I use it all the time.

BTW, which version are you using? Look like it's more of a 3rd party software problem. You may want to pose this question in the software developer's forum for assistance. Cheers..

Hey faisals... the sad facts is no, we can't divert the storage memory (ROM) to program memory (RAM). That's the problem with Touch and thus why we are trying our best to squeeze every memory we can out of it. It is important to do some housekeeping to manage the memory well, such as closing unused apps, hibernate and even soft resets everyday..

The answer is also no, using vanilla rom won't help. It increase storage memory only. The only wise things to do is not to install today plug-ins and residing apps that are nice to see but not used. Install only apps you used and keep to the minimum.... Alternatively, you can get the Touch XL (aka Touch Enhanced, ELFin) that has 128 RAM/256 ROM, its program memory hovers around 65~80 Mb...

Haha... ELFin's architecure and software is very similar to Touch. In fact can flash Touch's Rom but the RAM and ROM will be like only 64/128MB. I will try to keep up the development for the old Touch if times permit me...:D Cheers...

I press the music icon, then i press the launch music player. then audio manager comes up then i lick playlist, a list of all my playlist shows up. ok my question is HOW DO i START play that WHOLE playlist???? when i click on one of the playlist a list of all the songs in the playlist opens. i just want to play the whole playlist. First it got stuck at stage 3/3, leaving my Touch with a permanent RUU rainbow screen and me with ä near death experience :). Fortunately I had a factory ROM which flashed my device back to life, and then I flashed yours again. Cudos for your great work.

I have managed to find one bug so far: in Programs>TouchSettings>Weather the button Change does not work, complaining "Couldn't read data from XML file \App_Path\Weather.xml" Sorry if this one has already been reported and you have gotten back with a fix.

BTW, is there any way to remove Games from the device? I do not really need them, and thought they would be the first thing to go in a customized ROM.

I have to load HTC OEM Rom (also from this webite - I believe the WWE Australian verion) via ESPL. once loaded everything goes back to normal - no sleep problem.

This phone is from Rogers - canada. Imakaged to SIM unlock t and alwo CID (except eh problem above with any non-OEM ROMS).

Please help.

To save the settings, quick menu has to be loaded after the reset. If you want, copy Quick Menu.lnk from the Windows directory to \Windows\StartUp\ and the settings will stick. But the downside is it wil always be loaded and used some memory. Cheers.

Hey Madana,

The weathercities.xml file in TouchSettings was removed by me intentionally because it's repititive as you can already set changes in the HTC Home directly. Just sort of forget to disable it.

As for the removal of Games, some don't use them but others sweared by it. It is not true that it is the first thing chefs will remove in custom roms. In fact, almost all custom roms kept it intact. Anyway, they don't really occupy much memory space. Cheers

Your problem is indeed strange and I must admit that I know close to nothing about phones sold by Rogers of Canada. But if it occurred with every non-OEM (i.e. custom) ROMS then I suspect either the CID unlocking wasn't totally effective or Rogers has done something to lock up the phone when it detects non-OEM roms.

Since you can successfully flash any OEM roms, the settings maybe in the SIM card or SD card. Try to remove the SIM card and SD card before flashing the custom and see whether this help. Is a long shot if you willing to try.

If you have successfully SIM unlock, you should be able to use any SIM cards. You can try now by using other SIM cards apart from Rogers's and see whether it works. If it does than I suppose it can work with any SIMs including India's as well.

If it failed, you might want to try the free Touch Unlocking tool by Rishi in either the 1st post or 2nd post sticky to SIM unlock your device.

it is loading with windows.. quickmenu the short cut is in the Startup folder.. because i selected "Auto start when system start".. yet still none of the settings i change stay after a soft reset..

does it work on yours???

Hey cybertech... if you are talking of transferring T9 dictionary to HTC Touch Dual keyboard/keypad then it is not possible at the moment or at least I do not know anyone has successfully done it. This is because Touch Dual KB is using xT9 dictionary instead. If it's Touchpal SIP, then thescum has successfully ported over T9 dictionary. Somewhere in this same thread he mentioned how this is done. Try to locate it or you can ask thescum how he did it over at PPCSG. Cheers..

3.01 is just fine, the largest storage so far.
For all the fixes, can download and install them seperately anyway.
However, I have to abandon QuickMenu as it does have some memory issues.
What I do is to hide the icon and not to start it up, instead, I use the BatteryStatus for my TaskManager replacement, works just well.
For the rest of the ROM, well, what more do I need?

I've been running QuickMenu since over 2 weeks now. I keep hovering at at 20-21 MB free with normal usage and no reboots for extended periods (maybe 2 reboots in the last two weeks).

I'm almost certain that even the 'battery drain' issue is not real! I'll observe and report though.

First let me also aknowledge the ROM(s) in this thread have been the most stable and fastest of all the ones I have tried. However, with 3.02 I am finding that there are some things I prefer about 2.10:
1. Personally can't get used to QuickMenu. I used Wisbar Advanced for a while and for me a cascading start menu is not easy to use with your fingers (the idea with the Touch). And QM doesn't always display. Sometimes it is the standard Windows and other times it is QM. There may be a setting, but it's just annoying.
2. The SIP change feature in QM doesn't work all the time - very strange. Sometimes it keeps my selected keyboard (PCMKeyboard) and sometimes it goes back to default. SIP change that is on 2.10 worked great.
3. No One Note Mobile. Can be added, but is already in 2.10. Don't like Notepad, so that addition is not helpful to me.
4. Strange problem with weather not downloading. This appears to be something specific to my device / ROM load or others would have mentioned it. No matter what city I select, default or custom, wifi connected, EDGE connected or PC ActiveSync connected it does not download weather data. IE and AS over EDGE works fine.

I DO like better on 3.02:
1. The battery meter. Having just a digital percentage of charge is (to me) more accurate than any graphical icon. Unfortunately I tried disabling QM and turning on the HTC task manager and I get the task manager button over top of the battery percentage?? Is there a way to have HTC task manager and this battery status?
2. Touch Settings on the ROM. Again can be added, but nice to not have to.

Just my .02 or .05 :) cents... Keep up the good work swiftblade!

I am using 3.02 for few days and it initially starts from 22 MB free ram after soft reset and then stays at 20 MB if I do not open any application. But after few applications open and closed( even using X button) theh memory stays at 16 MB sometimes 14 MB. Is there a leak. No other new application is installed.
If yours stay at 20+ with 2.01 rom, then it must be better regarding memory issues.
Kindly advise.

1. Start audio manager, played a song - 16.75 MB.
2. Closed using X button. - 20.14 MB
3. Start internet explorer, browsed - 18.91 MB
4. Closed using X button. - 20.54 MB
5. Used phone. - 20.22 MB
6. Closed using X button. - 20 MB
7. Used messaging. - 19.46 MB
8. Closed using X button. - 20.60 MB
9. Used camera album. - 14.47 MB
10. Closed using X button. - 17.94 MB
11. Used Hibernate. - 21.51 MB

All applications were closed using HTC x button to close all.
Camera album used the most memory that did not released memory even after closing.
Any suggestions.

??? Has anyone noticed when they get an MMS video that after it plays there is no button to replay it? If I hit to the left under the video this mysterious HA HA box gets light and the video plays. Hi, i have a htc touch unlocked GSM version. I am currently running the Blue Touch 3.02 ROM on it. I had this feature on my palm and and i loved especially since is used the wired and BT headset. Anyways, i went to the MS Voice Command menu. Then i went to the options tab on both the contacts and phone. i checked off confirm when calling name, confirm when dialing number and Announce incoming calls. i did a soft reset and made sure the top box was checked enabled in MS VC. Did a test call and nothing. i tried turning off the ringer (by putting the setting to none) still no announcement. The ringer was on high. Is there another option or way to put this feature on? Hey cool bean.... It think it might work but I am not sure because I don't have a CDMA one to try. There is no GSM radio included in this rom so it will still keep whatever CDMA radio you have currently on your device.

If you have the original ROM of your device and willing give it a go, you can try flashing this rom and revert back to the OEM rom if it is not working.

First let me also aknowledge the ROM(s) in this thread have been the most stable and fastest of all the ones I have tried. However, with 3.02 I am finding that there are some things I prefer about 2.10:
1. Personally can't get used to QuickMenu. I used Wisbar Advanced for a while and for me a cascading start menu is not easy to use with your fingers (the idea with the Touch). And QM doesn't always display. Sometimes it is the standard Windows and other times it is QM. There may be a setting, but it's just annoying.
2. The SIP change feature in QM doesn't work all the time - very strange. Sometimes it keeps my selected keyboard (PCMKeyboard) and sometimes it goes back to default. SIP change that is on 2.10 worked great.
3. No One Note Mobile. Can be added, but is already in 2.10. Don't like Notepad, so that addition is not helpful to me.
4. Strange problem with weather not downloading. This appears to be something specific to my device / ROM load or others would have mentioned it. No matter what city I select, default or custom, wifi connected, EDGE connected or PC ActiveSync connected it does not download weather data. IE and AS over EDGE works fine.

I DO like better on 3.02:
1. The battery meter. Having just a digital percentage of charge is (to me) more accurate than any graphical icon. Unfortunately I tried disabling QM and turning on the HTC task manager and I get the task manager button over top of the battery percentage?? Is there a way to have HTC task manager and this battery status?
2. Touch Settings on the ROM. Again can be added, but nice to not have to.

Just my .02 or .05 :) cents... Keep up the good work swiftblade!

Seems that Quick Menu is not very popular and OneNote is in demand. I will eradicate that in my next update. I will think about Voice Speed Dial though.. should it be left out too?

I am trying out something and hopefully that can free up abit more RAM (program memory) and when I can get that to work, I will then release an update with some of the changes mentioned above. :D :D Cheers.

Hi, i have a htc touch unlocked GSM version. I am currently running the Blue Touch 3.02 ROM on it. I had this feature on my palm and and i loved especially since is used the wired and BT headset. Anyways, i went to the MS Voice Command menu. Then i went to the options tab on both the contacts and phone. i checked off confirm when calling name, confirm when dialing number and Announce incoming calls. i did a soft reset and made sure the top box was checked enabled in MS VC. Did a test call and nothing. i tried turning off the ringer (by putting the setting to none) still no announcement. The ringer was on high. Is there another option or way to put this feature on? Thanks. Tekno. BTW i have the cyberron VC.

Not very clear what you are trying to say.. but there is a Cyberon Voice Speed Dial included in the rom. Are you using this or your own MS Voice Command? A bit confused...:confused:

??? Has anyone noticed when they get an MMS video that after it plays there is no button to replay it? If I hit to the left under the video this mysterious HA HA box gets light and the video plays. I know that from the right bottom task I can hit the menu and hit replay, so that's fine too, but just wondering is it me :confused: or doesn't it usually have the arrow to replay?

I have this feature in my N95 but I can't remember Touch auto-reconnect as far as I recall even with the original rom. It could be some settings Bram had did to get it to works. Umhh... see whether I can find the setting...

basically .. with bram's rom.. and i think the original.. i take my phone when i go out.. leave the headset at home.. come home.. and instantly my headset works with the phone ...

with 3.02.. i reset.. and it's no longer connected.. or if i go out of range and come back.. i have to manually go into bluetooth setting.. delete the headset.. search for new device.. enter pin.. all that just to have it work again..

there was another post by another user few pages back few days ago.. he said he had the same problem with his car bluetooth.. he would have to manually delete device..search and add the device again each time he leaves and comes back to car..

HA HA Ok I have an IPAQ 6315 it has all the goodies, but I needed a phone to carry in my pocket... so I got the Touch... so with my plan I got the family plan and on my touch have unlimited text and mms. :D Although <<looking around in forum>> I did buy an unlocked Touch so I get everything anyway..... Ok with that said.

The template on the MMS when I receive them after I play the video it's the replay button that is missing etc. Not a big deal like I said, but if someone knows that would be great.

My 6 cents is this.... I like the Quick start and HTC Task Manager with the X button. The way you have put both on the 3.02 version I can have any option I want and they both seem to run fine. If you didn't put ithe quick start on I could deal with it, I believe there is a zip file for it and could add that if I wanted.

I myself liked the Cyberon Vocie Commander.... yeah yeah :cool: so I add that to my phone after I update to the new Rom and everything is working. So if you left any kind of voice command off the phone, it can always be added to the phone on your own. So, to save space or make everyone else happy what the hey.... I am for it..

yeah the bluetooth problem is annoying.. having to re-pair the device each time you soft reset or move out of range...

I know and mine doesn't even have to be out of range or soft reset. It just sometimes disconnects when the headset goes on stand by to save power... ok now I am grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :p

The Touch XL has exactly the same architecture (bar the doubling of RAM/ROM) and softwares as the normal Touch, so it still WM6 Office 6.1 and no OneNote. There is an installation disk for Outlook 2007 in the package but I doubt any one install it.

One thing I noted though is Touch Keyboard + keypad works without a hitch confirming that it is more meant for the higher mermory devices like Touch Dual and Touch XL. Maybe I will start a thread on Touch XL with custom rom for it like V3.02....:D

I will check out the bluetooth thingy with the OEM rom and see whether it get the problems you pals are saying...

p.s. I can actually flash this V3.02 rom and it is stable and fast. Only thing is that the RAM and ROM is also like the normal Touch ... haha :D

If you are going to be making a new rom anytime soon, it would be great if you could remove the .NET 2.0 Compact Framework and have this one instead. It looks like performance on .NET apps is MUCH better with it.

Also, is there any reason why you removed OneNote in the newer versions? I am mixed on it. It is nice having office in the roms, however, since I have a cab with the full office and another with OneNote, I also like the idea of installing to the storage card and saving space on my peewee elf...

What would be cool is if you had 2 versions of your roms. 1 where the apps installed to the device and a 2nd where they installed to the storage card. For those of us with peewee elfs, having the 2nd option would be huge.

Hi Swiftblade, in v3.02 the Smart Dialing works, but when i click on Menu > Smart Dialing Options... nothing shows up. And in Call History and SpeedDial, the icons are not Touch style, they only show the original WM phone icons.

These are 2 minor problems happened on my machine so far. This OS 1921 is smooth, thank you for bringing it to Touch !

Great looking rom, but still some issues. This one randomly freezes when installing apps and has some wifi issues meaning it sees your network but just doesn't connect automatically. If you disable the wifi and re-enable it does connect, so it's not the settings. Let me know if you require anymore info.

I could not find it anywhere..probably it does not exist yet..anyway i found your page an i would like to use your work to do some improvements in my device...so i wanted to consult before doing that.

I have payed 50 $ for installing my native language and unlocking the device to work at my contry , so it is very important for me that the upgrade will not erase or corrupt anything, so i am looking for your "approvement" for installing it on my baby.. :).

yes that is the same album that the touch dual has that lets you use your finger to slide and rotate...

this rom will work for your touch.. but its english language

and your touch will stay unlocked

I think you have the HTC Touch Sprint (aka Vogue). You are fortunate you can't flash this rom or else the consequence would be serious.

I always download the zip files to my desktop.. extract there and then open the file from that folder and click on it to run ... works everytime... try that... if it doesn't work perhaps Swiftblade has another option.....

The Touch XL has exactly the same architecture (bar the doubling of RAM/ROM) and softwares as the normal Touch, so it still WM6 Office 6.1 and no OneNote. There is an installation disk for Outlook 2007 in the package but I doubt any one install it.

One thing I noted though is Touch Keyboard + keypad works without a hitch confirming that it is more meant for the higher mermory devices like Touch Dual and Touch XL. Maybe I will start a thread on Touch XL with custom rom for it like V3.02....

I will check out the bluetooth thingy with the OEM rom and see whether it get the problems you pals are saying...

p.s. I can actually flash this V3.02 rom and it is stable and fast. Only thing is that the RAM and ROM is also like the normal Touch ... haha :D

Hey Technobe... pull out your USB connection, use the stylus to reset your device and it should go back to normal.. Don't worry. After that repeat the installation process again.. and it should work.s.. Cheers

Usually I flash the rom with the SD card intact and I have no problems with that at all. But I heard that with SD and SDHC cards of higher memory such as 4GB, 6GB and 8GB do pose problems during rom updating and it could be advisable to remove them using flashing..



I do perform a viruscan on the rom using Norton AV before I upload it and nothing shows up. What is this "generic_grayware" thingy? Trojans, worms, virus or what?

I did in fact find the toggle switch. Seems to be working, I am still playing with it. After extracting there are 3 exe. files. One the toggle and the other BT on--- BT off. I uploaded to host it, but it hasn't shown up yet :rolleyes: Since I have an early morning I am going for tonight but will post it first thing in the morning. Perhaps it will work for you silversx and Swiftblade can play around with it and see what you think.

I have stuck the toggle switch in windows/start menu/programs and the audio/on/off in windows. However I played around and stuck the two in program files and it works too.

yup i turned off the bt before installing the cab.. reset.. added device.. works... reboot.. don't work no more.. even tho bt is still on... and device still shows as hands free in settings...

another thing is that .. it shows my device as "hands free" when it ask you to select the function to use with the device.. is there anyway to set the device to "head set" ... which is what it used to be with other roms.. and never had the problem of buttons on my headset not working..

I heard that this problem was on ROM 3.01 and suppose to be fixed in 3.02. I am using Battery Status but never over clocked my device more than on 221Mhz. How can I fix my problem with contacts? If you try to rotate picture #8, it will jump back to #5. If you go to the next picture, it will show you #9. Try to rotate #9 and it jumps back to #5 again. Go to next picture and it will be #10. Rotating #10 jumps back to #5 again, and so on...

The second bug is that it leaks memory like crazy. When I started the camera album, I had 22MB free memory. While I was using it, I had 7MB free. When I switched it off, it didn't release the memory as one would expect. All I've got with no programs running is 12,5 MB.

Thus, about 5MB are still reserved by the system and remain unavailable, even though the application that reserved them doesn't run anymore. Those 5MB were claimed by the photo album and never released.

Did anyone notice the same problem? I haven't played much with this photo album while I was using other cooked ROM's. Is it the same? I suppose it is.

You can install the HTC Home Customiser (HHC) by emunutz which allow you to change the clock, icons and background.

If I am not mistaken, that's the device lock coming into play. You may want to set "Device Lock" to "Lock buttons if device is locked" and see it is better.
The second option also allows you to turn on the device when pressing the call button and camera button if you didn't lock your device.

Yes, the memory leak is inherent to HTC Album and indeed is crazy! :(

As for the picture locking, I am not to sure but it could be some gestures that you did to activate that. Still not very familiar with all the gesturings in HTC Album. Try closing it and restart the Album and see whether that goes away. Umhh... I need to play around abit more with the HTC Album...:)

Hi Swiftblade, this is only my second time to flash the rom. Encountered a problem. In the final stage of the process (3/3) when I got an error message ERROR(294);INVALID VENDOR ID. Any thoughts?

Question 1: This is a known bug with the new 2.20 WWE rom. To get around the problem, enter your contacts from the Cube's favourite people and it will stick.

Question 2: This is not a bug but a program called StartClean that is installed in the rom to give a clean Recent Folder after each reset.

Yes, this new rom is for the original Touch 128/64Mb RAM.

If you are first time flashing a custom rom, run Cert_SPCS.CAB and EnableRapi.CAB in the zip folder and then repeat the installation process again. Unfortunately, sometimes you need to repeat the installation to succeed, so be more patience and try again. Good Luck!

I am sorry to say those same bugs have now appeared and things have disappeared. I am not talking about the favorites either. I know on that one if you go to the cube and put in your contacts they don't go away.

So here is what happens. My comm manager on button 10 resets itself to none, so I have to go back in and change it. At least it reapears. So in the scheme of things no biggie, but thought you might want to know.

Now the HTC task manager no matter how I do it I tell it to show the end task button, it will not show. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

I still love the ROM and is the fastest I have seen so far with the least amount of bugs so totally happy.

The MMS template seems to be missing the arrow keys for directions. What is so funny is that when I touch where they should be it makes it do what I wanted as though they are there. Phantoms they are!

I can't get the GIF cab to make my .gif's work? Do I need to do anything to the registry. I know that is an extra I WANTED and not what came with ROM. But could use some help.

Haven't tried the bluetooth fix yet, going to do that in a bit.

Has anyone tried the Bluetooth toggle switch yet?

Why did you do a hard reset? When you do that, all your apps, fixes and changes you made will be gone. It will be like you have formated your device and re-installed the V3.02 rom all over again together with its bugs and settings.

But then, some of the things you describe happenings are strange and shouldn't happen when you do a hard reset, like all the 10 buttons gone and HTC Task Manager. If you have not installed anything, I will advise you to do a hard reset again and let it re-installed everything properly. Be warned that all the personal perferrence and settings will be gone.

Worst case, you should re-installed the V3.02 all over again... Cheers.

Hey madana... I may be mistaken. Are you referring to Quick Menu or Windows Start Menu. If you are referring to the former, then it may be because I took out the its auto-startup. To rectify it, copy the Quick Menu.lnk from the Windows directory to \Windows\StartUp\ directory and do a soft reset and I hope it works. Cheers.

with 3.02.. i reset.. and it's no longer connected.. or if i go out of range and come back.. i have to manually go into bluetooth setting.. delete the headset.. search for new device.. enter pin.. all that just to have it work again..

I have 3.02 and Motorola S9 for BT handsfree -- it connects instantaneously once within range without a reset.

So there may be a compatibility issue which came up with 3.02.

Sorry maybe I said it wrong. When I first installed the ROM there was things that weren't there and that's when I did the hard reset. I didn't even have the task manager in my setttings at that time. It all appeared and everything has been fine. All before my personal preferences.

Then today I looked and those items that I wrote about the comm manager and such. And the HTC end task for the toolbar is gone. I was able to get my 10th button on, and I still have the Task Manager in programs, but I just can't get the stop running programs in the toolbar to work.

Since I have now personalized my phone I don't want to hard reset to get it back. That's the only one I can't get and wondered if you had an idea what to do to get it to work other than hard reset? Also to get the Gif's to work, I installed the cab but nothing wants to move. :confused:

Basically the bugs I have just wanted you to know... some of them I fixed, but noticed that others are writing that things disappear. Bluetooth still working..... though :D

Haha.. I don't use bluetooth headset so I have not tested the BT Audio you posted. If you said it's working then I will include it in my next update..


Yes, the toggle switch works great. If I have it on music is playing and a call comes it allows my calls to come through too. I likey..... a lot :D

Hey madana... I may be mistaken. Are you referring to Quick Menu or Windows Start Menu. If you are referring to the former, then it may be because I took out the its auto-startup. To rectify it, copy the Quick Menu.lnk from the Windows directory to \Windows\StartUp\ directory and do a soft reset and I hope it works. Cheers.

I refer to Quick Menu and it does load on its own upon reset, so auto-start-up is not an issue. What was the issue was the Recent folder that stayed empty. However, I have just found a fix for it -- in QM>Option...>Menu Items i selected Recent in Top Level, then unchecked Sub Item of QM, saved and exited, and then entered QM Options again and restored Recent as SubMenu. Now it works fine.

So maybe it is a bug, but in QM itself.

The Task Manager problem may be related to the Quick Menu's Task manager or any other task manager you have installed. Check their settings and hopefully you can find something. I am sorry that I have installed the new Touch XL rom which don't have the Quick Menu. I actually use the BatteryStatus's task manager for that function and I find it better.

As the the GIF apps you are so obsessed, maybe you want to upload the CAB here and I will take a peek at it and see where the problem lies. No guarantee that can find a solution though but I will try...;)

I did install the new rom of yours and was very pleased with the performance , but it worked only after the first reboot. When i installed eyron's software and rebooted , windows came up , but after second reboot windows does not load. It stops at the green-blue picture of the startup with windows mobile logo and freezees. I am at one step from suicide...may you help me please with advise?

No worries on the ringtones, takes a while to learn all the new stuff ;)

This ROM has a voice tags app already. Start->programs->Voice Speed Dial

I'm guessing that's what you're looking for ?

Actually what I was really looking for was not custom ringtones for individual contacts, but custom ringtones for profiles. I use Spb Phone Suite and it does not seem to provide for that. Any ideas?

The Unlock Extended ROM feature allows you to get access to the Extended ROM but in the Extended ROM had been removed in this rom to give you that large Storage Memory. So kinda useless in this rom... hehe :D

Hey sergio2000... I don't know what is this eyron's software you are talking about but apparently it crashed the rom. To salvage the situation, do a hard reset to get back to the original rom status.

To do hard reset:

1. Hold down both the [Green Call Key]+[Red Call Cancel Key] and at the same use the stylus to reset the device (using the reset hole) and release.

2. Keeping holding down the [Green Key] and [Red Key] until some messages appear on the screen saying that data will be lost or something.

3. Press the D-Pad square silver button to start the hard reset. You should now get back the rom as if you installed it the first time. Good Luck!.

Hey mickhhhx... Try the following steps:

1. Install the Cert_SPCS.CAB and EnableRapi.CAB
2. Restart your device and your PC.
3. Repeat the installation again. (Unfortunately you may need to repeat a few times before it successful install, especially with Windows Vista... ARGHH)

The buttons problem is solved as it is due to the installation of modified ce star.

But when I want to set other ringtones, I copy the wma files into windows directory and I found that it cannot be set as ringtone in the setting->phone.

Anybody experienced the same? Any clues to a possible fix? I tried everything, including my own trick a few pages earlies, and it just would not work.

hey panda2020.... I think you had made it clear at first that you are trying to use your own .wma files as ringtones. Touch does not allow .wma files to use as a ringtone per se with the exception of its own "out of the box" ringtones. That explained why what you did got it to works..

Hey novalistic... WA3 is known to cause problems and I am not too sure it's a pagepool problem. If you want to change the pageppol, search the thread on changing pagepool by vippie (I think) in this forum and use it. It's quite easy.

The HTC Home Plugin background is blank. No amount of "HTC home customisation", reinstalling various versions of the plugin, or fiddling with the windows directory is solving this.

Does anyone have any ideas on where this is set and how to fix it for this ROM - which is otherwise a perfect base for the touch.

Then I press enter the RUU update was started, I answered few questions on the ROM update screen and the update was began then the system display ERROR # 266 or 260 and indicated that the connection is having problem but I never touch anything.
The Touch screen was remained blank white but all the applications had been stopped. I soft reset the device and the screen turned to RED, GREEN, BLUE............. and nothing can be done. Then I disconnected the device from the PC and soft reset again the same colour bars displayed and I connect the USB cable back to the device, I saw the left bottom displayed "USB" there. I click the "start" again but the system did'nt respond then I went to the RUU folder and click on the update and get the same error message as the automatic run.
Please advise and help

The favourite people in HTC Home is not working as I have mentioned many times before. You need to set your contacts in the Cube favourite people to get it to work.

As for su2 locking device, I am afraid I have no answer to compatibility issues with 3rd party software. You might want to refer back to the software developer for answer.

The super CID is only temporary and only works once. You need to do the USPL CID unlocking again if you want to flash another custom rom.

Hey benscso... When you are at tri-color screen, reset with stylus one more time to get back your original rom. After that repeat the installation process again. Sometimes it takes a few tries to succed. Good Luck!

1) After several install and uninstall application, I'm unable to launch the Advanced Config.exe anymore, the following error message pop up when runing Advanced Config.exe, any idea what's wrong with it.

Q1: Yes, but if you this is the first time you use a custom rom, installed the two cabs, Cert_SPCS.Cab and EnableRapi.Cab in the zip folder first before you start the package.

Q2: The big storage space you see is what you will get on your normal Elf when you flash this rom. Nothing less.

The super CID is only temporary and only works once. You need to do the USPL CID unlocking again if you want to flash another custom rom.


When you flash USPL it will stick until you flash SPL again. It's not necessary to load USPL again if you flash between custom roms without SPL in them.

I've been using your rom V3.02 for a week, it's really goods and thanks for your great work.

1) After several install and uninstall application, I'm unable to launch the Advanced Config.exe anymore, the following error message pop up when runing Advanced Config.exe, any idea what's wrong with it.

Error message:
AdvancedConfig.exe
DirectoryNotFoundException

System.IO._Error.WinIOError()
System.IO.Directory.InternalGetFileDirectoryNames( )

2) I found all Phone number linked to the HTC Phone tab will disapper after soft-reset, is there any way to avoid this happen? Many thanks in advance.

Q1: Probably some of the programs you have installed are in conflict with Advanced Configuration Tool. Remove your installed program one and one and see which is the conflicting software.

Q2: Sigh... I am repeating this at least a hundred times.... Here I go again... To prevent the phone contacts from disapppearing, enter the contacts in the Cube phone contacts and they will stick... Cheers..

Guys, this was mentioned near the start of this thread, but never solved:

The HTC Home Plugin background is blank. No amount of "HTC home customisation", reinstalling various versions of the plugin, or fiddling with the windows directory is solving this.

Does anyone have any ideas on where this is set and how to fix it for this ROM - which is otherwise a perfect base for the touch.

As you can see in attached file, the clock is supposed to have a border around it, and the "MTN-SA" and date should have an indented title bar.

Alright, now I know what you mean. This is because in my rom, I have change to background to transparent. There are two ways to go about it.

Nope, I'm afraid I tried HTC Home Customizer extensively against various re-installs of the HH plugin, and tried your cab too. Nothing resotres the background, altho the appropriate HH files are indeed in my Windows directory. If I'm the only one with this issue, then it probably isn;t even a ROM issue, but it is strange that an HH reinstall doesn't fix it...
Can live without this, it's just a little sad :-(

Yeah, probably the HTC keyboard/keypad which I can't uninstall for the life of me.

You have to get the original rom and flash back to the original rom.

Quick question before I do this...

I cannot remember if i have installed the Cert_SPCS.CAB and EnableRapi.CAB,
I do see them on my storage card but noonski flashed my phone before.

Question is will it hurt to install them again if there already installed?

You'll have to dump the original ROM from the phone to your PC and keep it as a backup. Or download the original ROM for your country/provider if someone has already dumped it before and posted a link to it on this forum.

The flashing process erases the ROM on the device and substitutes it with the new one. The only way to get the original ROM back is to start the flashing process again and flash your old ROM back to the phone.

There are instruction how to do it on several threads on this subforum, try some searching and reading around before you start.
