If the problem persists, you might have download a corrupted file. Re-download the zip file again and try.
I had the same trouble with him, I try to flash Xtiny & Blue 3.21 ROM, that's OK, but when I try to flash Blue 4.0 it always show this error, can somebody help me?
Sorry for my bad English

Hi Swiftblade,
Sorry if my question sounds stupid for you.
But please kindly answer :)
I love the 3.21 version and I've installed many useful apps on it.
But I want to try the V4.0.
Is there any way that I could flash the new ROM without having to go through the apps installation one by one again?
Thanks.

There are several ways of doing it:
Method #1 - Fast but abit of risks involved
It is not advisable but if you really want to try, you can backup your current ROM using SPB Backup to your SD card and do a restore after flashing the new ROM V4.0. It might corrupt your new ROM though so be prepared to do a HARD RESET if it does happen. The only comfort is that the OS Core is the same for both the ROMs so it might work.
Method #2 - More work but safer
Do a backup as per Method #1 but if problems are encountered during restoration to the new ROM, re-flashed back to ROM V3.21 and do a restoration and you get back your status quo.
Method #3 - Safe method but abit more work
This is what I do - the Safe Way. I copy all the application cabs that I use to a folder in the mircoSD card. I also backup the PIM data using PIMBackup to SD card. After flashing a new ROM, I restore back the PIM data and re-installed all the applications that I need. I usually don't take me more than 30~40 mins and I get my Touch running as usual.

Take out your SD card if you have not done so. Reset your device a couple of times and try again... If you are using WIndows Vista, the USB connection sometimes is problematic.

There are several ways to view the picture in other locations in your storage beside the default directory:
1. Install the HTC Album with Directory Options. This allows you to open up any location to view your pictures but will take up more memory space.
2. Install Touch Settings apps and change the default directory location you desired.
3. Remain status quo and put your pictures in the default directory.
where can i get the htc album with directory options?

Hi,
I'ved flashed my phone several time. The rom I have no is the v3.21.
But when I try to flash my phone with version v4, I have problems.
Version 3.21 I could only flash when I remove the sim and memory card (6GB).
Do I realy need to leave the memorycard inside?
Thanks!
I managed to flash my phone I just placed my 1 GB memory card in the phone.

Hi Swiftblade - am here with initial reports.
Around 14 hours of running v4.0, I have the following observations:
1. The boot-up is definitely faster - around 7-10 seconds. Earlier with v3.21, there was some application that would run after bootup, show the close button (but no interface). The free memory would be 15MB and then after around 20 seconds, the app would close and the memory would go to 25MB. In v4.0, some app does start, but the whole thing takes around 5 seconds only. The app is not the 'Startclean' because I have already disabled it.
2. MS .NET CF 3.5 does 'seem' to chop off a couple of seconds from start up of applications like Advanced Config Tool and even QuickMenu feels snappy. I wonder if it is purely psychological! Other than that, I'm not sure if the new CF contributes to the speed of the device on a whole - although my Touch does seem to be a little swifter than before (could be because of a clean flash and some other optimizations in v4.0)
3. I love GSFinder and thanks for including it in this ROM. I don't need Resco Explorer any more (personal opinion).
4. I did some testing with WMV files on TCPMP. With v3.21 there were some frame drops. With v4.0, the video is smoother.
5. For future - I'd suggest you include the registry hack to increase the Touch's volume (I got it from Noonski I think). I increase my values to 72 (safe) from 67 (default) and the volume is definitely higher without distortion.
6. I also increase my GlyphCache - uses more memory but gives me better experience with PIE and Opera.
7. There was a huge slowdown of my Touch the first time it populated my contacts database after I had restored it with PIMBackup. I had to wait for minutes before it would respond. Had to soft reset afterwards to get it working properly again. I suppose this would be natural - just an observation.
8. Battery life - testing on. Will report in 24 hours.
9. Memory management - Seems slightly better than the v3.21. Free memory hovers at 22-23MB with regular usage (as against 20-21MB). But then, maybe its too early to comment on that.
Other than that - I'm happy with the defaults :)

Hi!
In the new v4 rom it sais that it dos not include IPL, SPL and Radio. What does this meen? What is the radio function? I thought this had to do with calling on the gsm net? Do I have to install a updatet radio after flashing a new rom without radio?
PS where can i find A2DP toogle?
Thanks for nice rom for HTC touch phones!
Sorry if there are answers to these questions another place.

When the IPL, SPL and Radio in not included in a ROM, the current IPL, SPL and Radio version will stay and not replaced. And yes, the radio I am telling about is GSM Radio for your phone function.
As for A2DPToggle, I am compiling an AddOns package which included apps and files that I have removed from original ROM and also some useful apps which I will upload when it is ready. You can then download from the package. If you can't wait, you can easily find one in the forum.

It is part of the Touch XL keyboard + keypad that I have removed from this ROM. If you want it back , you have to re-install the Touch keyboard and keypad.
Thnxx allot, finally someone that now the solution :) . Anyway whats the reason you removed these ? My previous V3.21 ROM also dont have that Touch XL Pinpad, have you also removed it in that version already or must i do something special to active the pinpad ? Thnx again
PS: You say the IPL & SPL stays the same, buth how can we flash a cooked rom then ?

Yes, I have also removed Touch Keyboard from V3.21 ROM. The main reason that I removed it is because it is a memory grabber and slow down the device quite a bit. Also removing it allows ppls to choose the type of keyboard they like whether it's multi-languages or hot-fingers type. Cheers

Hi, could you tell me if you just flashed with start.bat or you first installed both cab files(like you're doing your first flash)?
You only must install the cabs one time, when you update the first time from original rom to a cooked rom. Once you have a cooked rom you dont need to install the cabs again, because they are already hard coded inside the cooked rom. The cabs just disable the warning message you see when installing a app, so you only have that with original roms ;)
@ Swiftblade, thnx again for quick respons

No harm running the integrated ROM updater by clicking on START.bat. If you wish, you can run the ROMUpdateUtility.exe from RUU folder.
I am running your 3.21 ROM.
Do I need to install both cab files again or just run start.bat?
I've tryed to flash this new rom but got stuck in USPL with pengvin screen. I've then softreseted the device and was( thank God) back with your 3.21 ROM.

Hi Jura_ZG... You need not install the two cabs again if you are currently running V3.21 ROM or any one of my ROMs.
If you are stucked in penguin (haret) or tri-colors screen when updating my ROMs, just soft reset your device will bring you back to your former ROM so don't worry. This is because all my ROMs have no IPL and SPL and thus will not alter your device's IPL ans SPL which is safer. This is why IPL and SPL are intentionally left out.
So I believe you will perserve and try your hands again... Good Luck!

Yes, even you hard reset you don't have to install the two cabs again. It is hardcored in the cooked ROM as NP9660 mentioned.

Thanks to the guys here,
I have installed BLUE TOUCH XL (aka ELFIN) ROM V2.01 recently by unlocking etc. successfully into my HTC Touch XL 128/256.
Is this NEW ROM 4.0 suitable for this model ??
Can we install ??
Is it necessary to unlock CID etc again?
If yes, is it necessary to reinstall subject two cab files again ?
One final issue;
Is not it useful to be able to bring `batery status` to today menu ??

Has anyone tried the 1.05b HHC with this rom by any chance? At the moment doesnt offer that much over 0.8 but we may have a problem in the near future..

Hi sas_sas... You have an ELFin and you should flash the Blue ELFin ROm V3.0. Click on the link in my signature.
You need not install the two cabs anymore and run START batch file from the folder to do CID unlock and ROm update.
Lastly, batterystatus need not be displayed on the Today screen for overclocking. If you want to display it it isyour choice. Cheers.

Well, its not really like that.. it should be, but its not.. in fact the PowerToys for .NET CF have a tool included (Application changer) that allows you to change the .NETCF version that your application is bound to..
Most likely tho downward compatibility is there tho, as you said..
Good to know HHC 1.05b is a go then!
thanks for testing this :)

It is advisable to CID unlock first before you update a custom ROM or radio although some may think otherwise. I see no harm in doing so..
Just curious, why so many ppls are constantly asking whether to run CID unlocking first? This have been asked at least 20 times in the last few days... Is there a general phobia in CID unlocking? I really wonder..:)

2. changed USB port.
3. unziped V.4 ROM to my root(c:\)
4. Then just started batch file START.BAT.
Process completed successfuly.

Ok, lets see if I can help.
Download Swiftblades ROM and unzip it to your root(c:\).
When unziped you should be able to see a file "Instructions on how to update this ROM.txt", follow the instructions exactly and all should be ok.
One more thing, before you flash, see if you need to SIM unlock you device. I've got non branded Touch so SIM unlock wasn't necessary and I'm not sure how SIM lock affectes flashing.
You should also check if you have a regular Touch or Enhanced(a.k.a. XL) this is REALLY IMPORTANT because you could flash wrong ROM to your device.
Don't hesitate to ask before doing something stupid;)

If your Touch has RAM:64MB and ROM:128 Mb then you have a regular Touch. If ROM is 256 Mb and Ran 128 Mb then your's is XY and you should download apropriate Rom. Swiftblade has a ROM for both.

Yes, the new Advanced Config 1.1 has dropped Tabsettings option. Previous version 1.0 in ROM 3.02 had that option.
You can install HHC for the function or through some registry tweaking.. Safer to install HHC.

I just noticed something - The Calculator link in LGMenu opens the dull 'non-Touch' themed calculator while the one in Programs opens the themed one!
Any suggestions?
Yes i noticed that too. I will leave it at that for the moments.

Hi again Ya'll,
I flashed my ROM yesterday to 3.02, but didn't make a backup first. My husband has the exact same phone and I'd like to copy the original ROM from his phone. I have SPB Clone. Does anyone know if this would be the appropriate program to do the job?
Thanks a million,

No its not..
No software other than the ones found on this forums will allow you to take an image of your husbands PDA and flash it back on yours.
You need to:
- download a vanilla Rom from the forums and flash it on your PDA or
- go in the Wiki section, there is a post that explains how to make an image of your husbands PDA and then reflash yours.
But the second option requires a certain knowledge.. make sure you understand well the risks involved before proceeding with flashing..

I don't mean to question anyone. I'm far from an expert, but according to the description page I understand this to mean that it creates a full image and flashes it to another PPC. Can you look it over and see what I'm not getting? This is NOT a referral link, I tried to copy the summary from the Adobe manual, but only pasted squares here. Plus this description page has some pics:

SPBClone acts at software level, takes a snapshot of your device and you can redeploy the image on a different device (contacts, tasks, files, sounds..).
But this has nothing to do with what is in your husbands ROM.
What is in ROM is the operating system (and included applications if any..) the way it comes from factory or after flashing a custom rom..
Anything that modifies the rom needs specific software to write on it, and SPB does not provide that functionality.
All the tools you see here on the forums are 'not supported' by the manufacturers.
..
hope this helps..

Thank you for the excellent ROM, Swiftblade. This one is better than ever!
I have been using 3.02 for a long time and I have already stated on this forum that I was not going to reflash until something really new shows up...
Well, you made me do it again
I'm joking, but .net framework 3.5 really got me curious.
I have no regrets spending an hour or something flashing, reinstalling, looking up product registration codes... this version, 4.0 is really excellent. Slightly faster than 3.02 and stable. I have only installed the OEM_HTC_Home_Icon_Pack.CAB to get the old fashioned HTC look and LED-like clock digits I actually prefer to the glossy Ipod-like icons and clock fonts.
By the way, maassk213 has mentioned a huge slowdown immediately after PIMBackup restore. This is not specific to version 4.0, I have noticed that issue showing up everytime I flashed any ROM (made by you or any other cook) just after using PIM backup to restore my contacts, call history and the rest. I think such a restore is rather demanding for the device memory and the poor thing gets exausted
After a little soft reset or switch off/switch on the slowdown dissapears and everything works really fast.

I have just installed HHC and selected Quick Dial as one of the five tabs I'd like to have. But I end up with only 4 tabs, Quick Dial just doesn't show up whatever I do.
Has it been removed from the ROM? Is there any possibility to get it on the device afterwards?
Actually, it doesn't really matter that much and I am not going to bother if it is difficult to install it. I love this ROM with or without the quick dial home tab.
It is a handy little tab, I admit, but it isn't very important, because I can also use the touch cube to dial the numbers I call most of the time.

Swiftblade, thanks for the v4.0 ROM. I've a problem here. Previously I was able to install MoDaCo NoData, which helps to deactivate GPRS connection via registry, successfully in your v3.21 ROM. However I'm facing problem after installing the v4.0 ROM with error message 'An unexpected error has occurred in NoData.exe'. Could this be due to the .Net upgrade?

Hi chinyeow... NoData is working. The only possibility of your error is that you have not configure your data connection via Network Wizard. In that case you don't need to install NoData at ll. Cheers

I suspect your device is not the Touch (aka ELF) but an ELFin. Check your device information and confirm whether you have an ELF with 64MB RAM/128MB ROM or an ELFin with 128MB RAM/256MB ROM.

No, this is dependent on the network provider. For me in Singapore, Singtel activates STK but MobileOne doesn't.. BUt it should be an one time affair though.

Yes, you can only configure it through cumbersome hex editing and resource hacking right now. Hope someone can come out with a configuration tool soon.

I Just flashed a ROM for the first time (this ROM). It all went very succesfull and I got the touch running with the new ROM, but suddenly it started to reset when the screensaver turned on.
So I tried to shut it off for a while and then turn it on again, but then it only showed the smart mobility screen and went black...
Hmm.. is there anybody who knows what is wrong and can help?

Hi Claus.. I think your device is an ELFin with 128 RAM. This happened to quite a number of ppls who flashed their ELFin with an ELF ROM. No mistakes on your part but stupid HTC has not make that distinction clear to their customers and thus the confusion.
Tell you what... Check your device information and confirm that you indeed have an ELFin with 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM in your hand. If confirmed, download the Blue ELFin ROM from the download link in my signature instead and install it. Good Luck!

To enter the bootloader:
Hold down the camera button and reset device with the stylus. Keep holding the camera button until you see 'tricolor' bootloader screen.
An alternative way to enter bootloader:
Switch the device off by long pressing O/I (power) button. hold down the camera button while pressing the O/I button about 1 second. Keep holding the camera button until you see 'tricolor' bootloader screen.
To hard reset:
Hold down send/reject buttons (green/red at the front) and reset with the stylus; release the stylus but keep holding the buttons till you get 'this will erase all your personal data' message, then press 'action' (big front button) to hard reset.

If you still can go to bootloader mode, try to flash to the original ROM from HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1676118&postcount=1).
If you can't go to the bootloader mode, the last resort is to flash the original ROM using SD card method. Follow the method in Topic No.4 in the "Some Other Helpful Links" Section on the first post of this thread.

The calculator skin is already in the ROM. It 's just that the calculator in LG Menu is still linked to the normal one.
jz to make sure.....can i install CE Star frm the application disc (comes wif the box) into this v4.0?
*sorry....noob question* :P
You can but you still need the registration code to prevent it from expiring. Follow the registration procedure to obtain the regn code.

If he has IPL 1.11.0002 and SPL 1.11.0000 shouldn't he have to flash with original ROM but with 1.11.XXX IPL and SPL?

If you have CID unlocked it properly I suggest to remove your SD card (and re-insert during the re-boot after flashing) Guess you have a larger SD card then 2GB !

But, I've got a little problem here. It's been a while so it's possible that I've just forgotten how to do this, I've gone straight from 3.02 to 4.
I want to remove the profiles tab and insert the favourite people (is that right ?) tab - the one that's linked to the cube. How ? I though it was done using the Advanced config, but I can't find it in there - Help :)

I did it using htc home customiser (pocketemu.com). I'm not sure if that is what I used on my previous rom, but it did the trick nonetheless :)

For showing up the favorite people tab you must remove the next key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\MASD\QuickDial
For switch the tabs just use HHC 1.05b or do it manualy with reg editor

@ Swiftblade your start.bat application use JumpSPL to flash the cooked rom, is that correct ? I just whant to understand all that SPL & IPL things bether ;). Thnx in advance
For the benefits of everyone here, I reproduce here my explanation which I wrote on the other thread:
When i bring the uspl.exe to my mind it load in the first step a bootloader to the device. After that the second step is to write this bootloader permanently to the touch. This second step is not given by the roms of swiftblade.
The start.bat only use the first step of the uspl.exe and flash not the permanently bootloader but directly the cooked rom...
Is it understandable what i mean?
I flashed my first Elfin with the uspl.exe and bricked it because of the permanently uspl bootloader. After i changed it at the customer serice i flashed the elfin "only" by using the first step (white screen) and then flashing directly swiftblades rom (it was automatically this way because of the using of start.bat!).
I hope you can understand what i mean. In fact i think the comlete unlocked bootloader doesn´t fit to the elf enhanced version.
@swiftblade
Is it right what i try to explain? I think there is no other explanaition for the existing problems.
:o
Hey lox-tt,
You have done a great job in explaining the USPL, CID unlocking and my modified CID unlocking using Start.bat. Your explanation is superb and very clear. Thanks.
For the benefits of everyone here including Slayer23, HP9660, red.schumi, etc., let me elaborate on the procedures a little further:
Firstly the three steps pof's USPL Utility permanently changed your IPL and SPL to 1.11.0002 and 1.11.0000 so that you can flashed (at that time) the 1.11.xxx.xx ROMs or custom ROMs based on it. It works like a charm at the time when pof wrote the wonderful utility.
Then the problem arises when the new Touchs with 1.17.xxx.xx ROM and later the Touch XLs with 2.20.xxx.xx.1B ROMs come into the market. USPL started to "brick" a number of Touchs and Touch XLs because these devices don't work well with the modified IPL 1.11.0002 and SPL 1.11.0000.
Appeals to pof for a modified USPL were not answered so many of us including myself changed the way we CID unlock by using only the Step 1/3 and Step 2/3 of the USPL utility to give us the SuperCID and then use our own RUU to directly flash our custom ROMs. Incidentally, we also found that this is safer to flashing custom ROM this way because it does not modified your IPL & SPL and your original IPL & SPL are intact. When you encountered problems during flashing, a simple soft reset will get you back to your original ROM and you will have no problems. This opposes to the complete USPL by pof which will modify your IPL and SPL which "bricked" alot of devices stucked in the bootloader mode.
So what I did in my integrated ROM Update Utility is to write a simple Start.bat to re-direct USPL's Step 3/3 to my own RUU instead and directly flash the cooked ROM.
It is common that at Step 2/3, the CID unlocking might not be successful when you see the Haret's penguin or the tricolors screen. Just reset your device and re-try again till you get a successful CID unlocking when the screen turns blank white.
Hope this explanation give you a better understanding... Cheers.

as long as it is the Elf (and not the elfin - which has more memory) you can use it.
Don't forget the sticky post with info on CID-unlocking & USPL, otherwise it won't work
Start reading, learning - and when you feel comfortable, just do it. It's a great ROM !

You dont need to be worry for flashing this ROM, the change your device brick is maybe 1% on 100. Because the IPL & SPL dont change this method of rom flashing is verry save, if the update failed just soft reset and you have back the original rom. There are other roms outside where you must change the SPL first, if here go anything whrong you are stuck at the bootloader screen. Just to clear some things out for you ;)

outsiderr, when you flash your device it will take 3 steps and the last one is the actual flashing. You'll see a progress bar going from 0% to 100%. Once that is done your device is flashed and will reboot and configure itself. You have to insert your card during that reboot.

Some roms have better power management abilities than others... I'm not sure how this is achieved by the chefs but they sure are optimized! If you can try out some of the roms for a couple of days, u can find out a rom that suits ur needs.. that's the good thing about XDA!! :)

I can confirm that this ROM does seem to drain the battery faster as compared to v3.21 that I had earlier. There were some power management registry tweaks I saw somewhere that I am going to test now. I don't know if they would work. Will report later.
Edit:
These are the tweaks I saw on PPCGeeks forum. They are apparently for the Mogul. I don't know if they would work on the Touch.

your htc home customizer will be able to edit tabs and what you want.
i have a question will PMclean work with this. i set it to do automatic cleans but when it soft resets it resets about 3/4 times before finally letting me get to the today screen.
i currently have the auto disabled and will be doing it manually.
which i guess is no major issue.
regarding the battery status. if a lot of you are using the touch as an alarm clock why not just plug it in every night then it will be charged.
i guess any of the pda's will drink battery juice. my old vario was a bugger for it.

Thanks, i was able to do the flashing successfully after 2 tries. Had to use mtty to reboot... my Touch is faster than before, i previously had the v3.02.
outsiderr, when you flash your device it will take 3 steps and the last one is the actual flashing. You'll see a progress bar going from 0% to 100%. Once that is done your device is flashed and will reboot and configure itself. You have to insert your card during that reboot.

This is indeed strange! This might be stupid but after selecting the new today theme, click on "OK" button on the top right hand corner to accept the changes.
Failing which, you can try to select the Windows Default theme first and press OK. When it is successfully set, try the other today themes of your choice. Hope it works. If it doesn.t work, you may have a bad flash. Do a HARD RESET or re-flash the ROM again. Cheers

No ideas what is wrong.... Look like it might be .NET Compact Framework related.. I am not absolutely sure though.
Best thing is to the refer the errors back to the developer of the program. They are at the best position to resolve such issues.
Just curious... Is this the 1st time you have installed the e-Sword (some Bible Library I believe) or you installed this apps before in the original HTC ROM and it's working. Cheers..

You have probabaly used "Advanced Config" utility.
When you start it for the first time, it sets the number of icons in the comm manager to its own default, which is nine . It happens to me every time I reflash and use the Advanced config for the first time.
You have to add the "beam" icon manually in the Advanced config. You need to do it only once and it will permanently stay there, unaffected by any soft reset or an off/on switch.
By the way, a haven't noticed any excessive battery drain. My battery lasts about just as long as earlier, while I was using previous ROM's.

I think it is the startclean.exe, look in your program files folder / start up there you will find it.
There are a number of hidden Windows and OEM programs that runs during the StartUp after a reset besides the obvious "StartClean.exe" mentioned by The Stranger.
The Startclean is a very small apps that cleans up your "Recent Programs" after each reset and is not significant. However, just like in Windows XP or Vista, alot of drivers, .dlls and apps during a startup though there are transparent to you. Among them are, QuickDial, MediaHubMini, Biotouch, tmail, HTC Home, etc.
This occurs in this all custom ROMs as well as stock ROMs. Stock ROM startup is even longer. Cheers

Hi outsiderr... contrary to popular beliefs, VOIP files are not included in the original HTC Touch OEM ROM. I have stripped the ROM and these files and no where to be found. The above thread is referring to HTC Wizard and not any HTC devices.
You can download VOIP Setup files from the one of the stickys at the "Development & Hacking" forum by schapps HERE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317070) if you wish to try. I have tried them before but failed. I have even tried cooking it into ROM but still no good.
Skype works very well though or you can try to use a program called "Fring" to get your VOIP to work. Cheers

This ROM too has a horizontal bar in the New SMS window.. I've been having this problem with all the versions except version 1 :S Other than that it's a good ROM for me. Even I have that mysterious program starting after a soft reset though, even the X comes up as though a program is running and goes away after a few secs.

my HTC ALBUM, why din show my memory card photo?

Hi junh... the reason for the creation of "storage card" and "storage card 2" is due to the fact that all temp files and messages etc are flushed to storage card in this ROM.
In the event you take out the storage card for a certain period of time where in the interim you receive sms etc, the ppc will detect that the storage card is not available and create a folder called "storage card".
When you finally insert your storage card, it will be known as "storage card 2". Hence all your photos, images, mp3s and what not will not be detected as it will only search "storage card" which is a folder now.
What i've done is i've changed all temp files and messages to point back to their original locations, using sktools or memmaid should get the job done fairly easily. But this is just me, as i take out my sd card fairly often, and i've done my fair share of deleting the "storage card" folder since the days of the mini.
Try deleting "Storage Card" folder in your SD card and do a soft reset and it should works.

Anyone with that "INVALID VENDER ID" managed to install the ROM eventually? (and why does it say "vender" instead of "vendor"?)
I am facing the same problem - tried various settings (w/ and w/o SD card, etc.)
I've been trying also to install 3 other ROMs right now - no problem at all, but what ever I do .. each time at 3% this error message shows up with this ROM (downloaded from both links).
Those with this problem: where are your Touchs from?
I've got an official Chinese version w/o WiFi feature. (I saw another one with this problem where from China, while there was one from Danmark).
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi guys,
I am really interested in knowing what is the reason that this ROM cannot be uploaded to my touch, so I am trying to be more detailed about my issue:
"Error [294]: Invalid Vender Id"
1. running Touch Surface 1.31SP1 ROM
2. downloaded V4.0 (Rapidshare) and unpacked it
3. tried a couple of times to install with different approaches:
- used "start.bat"; used the RUU directly;
- having SDcard inside; without having SD card inside;
- having SIMcard inside, without having SIMcard inside
- always same error
4. downloaded V4.0 from the second link and unpacked it
5. did same as point 3 - with same error
6. installed a German vanilla ROM successfully (proving touch is CID unlocked)
7. tried to install V4.0 - same error
8. installed Touch Surface ROM - successfully (proving touch is still CID unlocked)
9. tried to install V4.0 - same error
10. installed Touch Surface ROM and gave up for the moment
11. currently clueless?? (running Touch Surface ROM)
BTW, after the error occurred each time, the Touch would do a SW-reset and would boot up itself with the previous ROM and runs w/o any problems, so not tri-color screen whatsoever ... just cannot install this ROM ....
Also, if I am not mistaken, there were some other posters here with the same problem ...
Cheers!
--- Edit:
just downloaded the zip-file the 3rd time and tried to install: same result :-(

It seems that those who have the CHT DOPOD S1 don't like my ROMs...:( Anyway, similar thing happens to CHT Dopod S1 owners trying to flash to my other ELFin ROM V3.0 too.
The solution is to used the CHT Dopod S1 RUU to flash the ROM and it works. linkoooo has successful done so and using Blue EFLin ROM. The CHT RUU is I attached here those who want to try. I will repacked the ROM with the CHT RUU for those CHT Dopod S1 users.

Sorry:
CHT = traditional Chinese <> CHS = simplified Chinese
Thanks anyway!
----edit:
Swiftblade,
BTW, how can I identify the different RUU versions?
I just compared the one from the V4.0 package with the one you just attached.
I don't have a HexEdit on hand, so I just checked the file properties:
Both seems to have the same size and same build (3.14.4.0; build: 925) except for the different file dates.
When starting both show 3.14.4.1 on the header though.
Did I mix up the files?
Cheers!
------------------ edit2:
I also checked the RUU enclosed in the Touch Surface ROM - it seems to be the same as well.
Just tried to use it - the same problem.
I am not sure whether the zip-file has the correct RUU so I asked the OP from the other thread.
Now got to get to bed ...
Cheers!

Great ROM, I have been using for about a week with only a few minor nuances that I did not see a resolution for after searching.
1. When I turn the Touch off, or it auto powers-off, whatever app I had opened gets put away, with the Home Screen in front.
2. Disable startup animation from the Advanced Config accessory app does not work. After a reset, the animation still plays and it's as if it didn't change anything because the box is still unchecked.
Thanks!

Review what applications have you installed recently before this happens. Also check the "Today Timeout" settings in Settings/Today/Items

Hi,
To get back to the app you were in after off and on; you need to disable the "lock code" found at : Setting->Lock. If the lock code is enabled, power off and on will always take you to the Today screen. If you uncheck the lock, then off and on will take you back to where you were before the off.
Hope this helps.

I'd like to give this rom a try, but... I am so used to the HTC keypad... ;) As far as I know there isn't a .cab for the HTC keypad which includes all languages right? I know there is a topic which explains what to change in the registry, but that's not ideal ;)
Does anyone know if there actually is a .cab for the htc keypad WITH all languages functional? Thx :)

Any News on your test with the Battery. Did it work or has anyone else got any solutions.
Cheers
I tried the reg hacks and the battery life seems to have improved slightly. Have not come across any negative side effects till now. WiFi, bluetooth are normal. I'm going to standardize some parameters to retest this before I conclude anything.
Anyone else willing to test these with me and report?

There's a file in the TEMP folder in the device: wince.nls.
Can I delete this file? It's taking up 1.47mb of precious memory.

since flashing it (worked perfect from the first time) I cannot sync anymore with my pc using active sync. Uninstalled and reinstalled active sync without any success. winXP activesync 4.5.

What does these programs do?
BT Crawler
Start Clean
WM5Torage 1.8 (New)
Also, LG menu is nice, but I just find it a little bit redundant with the HTC Home.

Why is "wince.nls" in your temp folder? It should be in windows directory and it is a very important file. Without it, windows can't start.
Did you install CE Star?

Hey Luc.... this rom never have problems with activesync. If you have just installed the ROM, do a HARD RESET. If you have overclocked the device, reduce it to a sensible speed.
Wonder what have you done or installed after the ROM upgrade?

Thanks

Very fast ROM, I like it very much.
One thing for sure after upgraded from V.3.02, when I want to change the input method, eg: from keyboard to block, I don't have to wait anymore, very instant.
Thanks for all your work Swiftblade.:)

There's a wince.nls in the WINDOWS folder, but with a size of only 267KB.
Yes, I installed CE-Star. Why?

Because that is the wince.nls version used by CE Star. You can delete it you are not using CE Star anymore. Play safe copy it to your SD Card and if things don't work then copy it back. Cheers

Hi,
To get back to the app you were in after off and on; you need to disable the "lock code" found at : Setting->Lock. If the lock code is enabled, power off and on will always take you to the Today screen. If you uncheck the lock, then off and on will take you back to where you were before the off.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help, this also resolved another issue I was having where the today screen would do this weird refresh or re-draw thing when turning the LCD on/off. Thanks for the response, awesome!
And Swiftblade, thanks for your quick reply as well!
One other thing.... Does anyone know a good app that will be able to lock my phone on power-up and a certain amount of no activity without messing these two things (1. Today screen "refresh" 2. Today screen always on top when turned off)?

My unit of touch can't receive anything from blutooth since v3.21. I can send via BT without a problem, i just can't received anyting even though the machine is paired.
i saw BT_Connection-Fix.CAB post on the first page, is this a fix?

No the BT_Connection_Fix was meant for V3.02. There is no BT problems with V3.21 and V4.0.
For you to receive files, there are some settings required for the BT Connection and BT Explorer. I can't recall exactly what they are now and so go explore abit yourself.
Another way is to install DrYAR Bluetooth Apps.

Hello all,
I know some of you must be nagging about those non-working icons in the LG Prada Menu. Well, here is CAB that will fix those non-working icons:
1. Backlight Icon - Fixed
2. Calculator Icon - Now opens Touch Skin Calculator
3. Photo Album - Now opens up HTC Camera Album in portrait oreintation
4. USBStick - Now opens up Wireless Networks
To install LGMenu_Fix.Cab:
1. Download the cab and copy it to your device storage card
2. Go to Settings->Today->Items and unselect the "LG Buttons"
3. Do a soft reset
4. Install the LGMenu_Fix.CAB
5. Done! All the icons should be working now.
Cheers...:D

I managed to download the RUU_Elf_DOPODASIA_CHT_1.15.708.3B_4.1.13.46_02.97. 90_BLUE_Ship ROM and tried to use the enclosed CHT RUU to install. Still the same error message.
BTW, I reckon the RUUResource.dll defines the version of the RUU while the ROMUpdateUtility.exe is the generic GUI for the respective RUU versions.
Anyone who can provide a CHS RUU? Would be great.
Cheers!
