View Full Version : EBO (Easy Bake Oven) On Hold - Update 11/26/07

11/26/07 update:
I've placed the project on hold for a while. I've been too busy to work on it and so instead, I'm working on an optimized ROM for my Wing. I might end up just using that ROM as the base ROM. It's based on the Touch-IT.

Update: Still working on release v0.4. So far, so good. No bugs found, yet.

Success! Tested AND Working flashed on my Wing!!!

Here it is! Version 0.3
All the passwords are: "ding"
Step one:
Download the Kitchen files (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DRWHRNDO):
Save them somewhere, say a folder called "Ivan's Kitchen."

Step two:
Download the OEM and SYS folders (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5P2GDMPF):
Dump them into the Working_Folder within the EasyBakeOven folder that you extracted on the first step.

Step three:
Download the ROM folder (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XV2G4GVO) and follow the same instructions as step two.

Step four:
Download the Packages (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=WE4QV3BK) into the OEM folder.

Step five:
Run the RunMe file. Choose if you want the BioTouch. Choose if you want Office. Check what programs you want. Click on the little green "play" button. When it says "Done." at the bottom, close that window and follow the prompts.

This is a BuildOS kitchen. Download the packages and just double click on the batch file I made you. :-)

Make sure you have enough harddrive space... I tried it on my laptop and I kept getting REALLY small os.nb files. lol
Now I just need someone to make me some good atwork... or I can make one myself.

BUGS Fixed:
V0.3
Camera Packages - Removed the camera packages and restored the original camera.
CommManager Packages - Updated their registry to reflect the Herald's wifi.
Removed Touchflo ghost icon. It was a mistake from my end. It's an icon pointing to nothing.
V0.2
Too many to fix... Just ignore the fact that V0.1 ever happened...

If upgrading from the previous version:
Download these (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=T0GH27TX) files (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PZ8F7E60) and the file attached and overwrite the current set. Delete the two camera folders under the OEM folder.
If not, download the whole thing again.

If you downloaded the original broken Alpha release: Trash it. Download the newest one. That one had more holes that swiss cheese.

Bugs found and how to fix them.
I missed an extra file when I updated the camera fix. I'll fix it on the next release. For now just delete the file "Camera.lnk" from the OEM\OEMAPPS folder.
11/19/07 - Nevermind, I completely broke the camera again. I'll have it fixed soon. I'll have to look through the original ROM and find the missing files.

V0.4 Coming Soon!
Changes so far:
Fix extra camera.lnk
Set packages needed for a basic working ROM to be selected by default.
More packages!!

Thank you's goes to:
God for giving me the patience to work on this.
ITJE for his base ROM
LordPhong for his Touch-IT fixes
mattk_r for inspiring me with his kitchen and for most of the packages

Warning:
Any damages caused by your ROM to your phone is solely your resposibility. The chances of you really bricking your phone are slim to none. As long as it's a WING. I haven't tested this on anything else.
Also, if you have a 64bit OS: Don't even try to use the flashing tool. It will not work.

This kitchen's base ROM builds a 12mb pagepool.

You'll have to use the pagepool changer to get it to your liking.
I'll be listing all packages in a few hours.
Here are a few screenshots.

good ish, looking forward to it. One question, for the programs and tweaks, are you just going to include the most popular, or can requests/suggestions be made?

oh yes. very anticipated. This has the ability to JUST add biotouch, that is, without the cube? If so, mad props to you.

Also, two questions
1. Will I be able to change the base rom?
2. Can I get it to spit out the .nbh file from the RUU? Just for us CID-unlocked people?

I'm still working on the possibility of seperating.... we'll see...

As far as your questions go:
1. Yes.... BUT, you will have to STRIP the ROM down in order to avoid errors from the kitchen. (Not as hard as it sounds, mostly just searching for the duplicate files that the kitchen throws an error out for. Just time consuming.)

The base ROM is just that. Basic as can possibly be. If you want a newer version of the OS and are up to stripping down that ROM for my kitchen, I'll add it here without a problem. This is more of a collection of works from all parts of this community, so if anyone wants to add packages to the lot, porting over newer versions of wm6 or whatever it may be (like art work,) they're more than welcomed to.

Great work! Can't wait till its online.

The perfect solution for "cooking" your own Rom without the diffult (but most of all time consuming) proces of getting into Hypercore kitchen. Finally within the reach of my limited sparetime.

You could try to contact Itje about the differences between Wing and Herald?

Keep us posted on the proceedings!

Just one question.

Does it allow us to change the language?

The Kitchen is ready. It's Wing only for now because I haven't had the time to research on the differences between it and the normal Herald. .

hi man,I found that there are no different between all kinds of herald, only one is c858 without WIFI.

others all the same except keyboard layout.

ok and flash your nbh with jspl will be comfortable.

BUT should notice that IPL SPL not less than 4.00

or flash with ruu if you are hardspl.

Cool. Now I just need the registry values for the regular herald's keyboard layout.

Originally, I had been able to. But, as I often have a habit of doing, I made a lot of changes before I uploaded it, adding a lot of things. I worked all the bugs out now. I've successfully built a few ROMs. I'll try flashing one of them when I have the time (heading to work but I'll bring my laptop with me.) Sorry for the mix up, but it IS an Alpha release after all. (Yea... maybe not even worth the alpha title... lol)

It did the same to me the first time. I think it may have been my laptop's power saving features kicking in. I tried it again n made sure the laptop didn't turn anything off and it worked. I have the camera fix and incoming call issue wasn't an issue but my own mistake so no issue there but my internet is currently down so I can't upload it. I'm writing this on my cell phone. When I upload it, all you have to do if you have already flashed your device but don't feel like flashing it again for the day, is dump the files into your windows folder. This will fix the cam until you can rebuild the ROM with the proper files. I'll also work on some mirrors.

Thanks so much!

*EDIT* I was playing around with my first rom and I dont see a way to activate the touch cube....I really only use it as a quick way to pictures and PIE but I couldnt figure out how to activate it. It builds it unto a cleaner ROM. It doesn't use the Wing ROM. I believe the Touch-IT 2.3 base is actually a ported Kaiser ROM. You can basically have what you want and what you want only in it.

I only supplied this kitchen with Biotouch, not the Touchflo cube because most people don't use it. The next release will give you the option between either and will have a cleaner way of letting you choose it as well.

itje, mind helping me with one issue. Search after search both here and in Modaco and I'm still no closer to having the registry keys that make the Atlas keyboard different from the Herald. Mind sharing the knowledge?
Btw, I love your base ROM. I gotta dump out the base Tmobile ROM again and figure out what's different as far as the PocketIE goes, though, and why it seems so sluggish in the Touch-IT 2.3 (I think you said it was a Kaiser build?)

Replace the package with the one in the attatchment

Thanks Itje for jumping in on this issue. I downloaded the file and replaced it in the OEM/Packages folder, but it still didn't work. I was curious to see if it was just that paticular file that caused the error so I removed the "1-Calc" folder completely. That in turn gave me the same error for the next folder down. I think (and Ivanmmj does too) that it might be because I'm running this on Vista. I know I have had problems flashing with Vista (even after Itje posted that sticky) so I might just have to try it later on anXP machine. However if anyone has successfuly done this using Vista, please post and let us know if you did something special.

Will it have options for different animations for the cube? Also the cube works over s2u2. That's pretty much the only time i use it, as a quick and simple launcher over s2u2.

I hadn't thought about that, but that's pretty easily doable. I'll have to remember that, unfortunately I'm not at home so I can't write it down on my list of things to do for the ROM. My internet has been cut off so at the moment, it's a bit hard to work on the kitchen, trying to do it at work on my breaks. The kitchen is just ported to this phone. Originally it was made by someone else. I just realized that I never gave them credit. I have to find out who originally created the BuildOS app. I'll also have to add Oto and melody on my things to do. Melody never worked for me and I haven't tried Oto so I ddn't think of them.
Hopefully I can include a ridiculous amount of packages over time.

As far as striping a ROM goes, you have to get rid of all the stuff that is placed on them by the cell carriers. Then you have to strip out all the extra programs, leaving only essentials. Then get rid of any extra files (sound files and picture files.) Then you have to get rid of any files that clash with the packages (i.e. the CommManager files.) Then you run it through the BuildOS with every possibly apps installed and see if you get an error. If you do, it'll tell you what files need to be killed. That's how I did it anyways. Then you have to go through (well, WHILE you're doing the rest you should do this..) and remove all the extra registry keys that are not needed (those that reference to the programs removed, etc.) Optionally, you can create some art work for it, as well. I need to create some artwork for mine... so far, all I have is a mix of HTC artwork, Touch-IT artwork and no artwork at all on some parts. lol

My base ROM is a stripped down version of the already stripped down Touch-IT Stripped v2.3. Look for that one and flash that one if you want something stripped. My version has a lot of important stuff missing that the kitchen forces you to choose.

Unfortunately, I haven't had time to do anything much with this, as my internet was down for several days. I just got the internet back, but my first priority is fixing the camera again. I'm not too sure which one it is. It could just be a package that I put in the OEM folder myself.

Do a search on the EasyBakeOven folder for that RGU. I did a search on mine and didn't find that package.

Also, you do realize that it has a broken camera, right? I haven't released one with that fixed, yet.

I realized what it was. I did mess up with one of the registries. I tried to flash it, but after an hour it would not complete the flash. Didnt know why. Could it be cause of my TMO rom? I did it on a clean Wing too. I'm just gonna wait for your newer version with the fixed camera.

What does the Log.txt file say on the last 5 or so lines?

Flashing these ROMs is like every other ROM. Sometimes you have to try two or three times before it takes. I'm currently using one from my unreleased kitchen and it's working fine.
Make sure that:
1. You installed Aserg's Policies AND power cycled the phone.
2. You placed the phone on Flight Mode.
3. You turn off any power saving features of the PC your on. (Make sure it doesn't shut down things like the harddrive in the middle of the process anyways. You can always just move your mouse around every couple of minutes.

What is Enable Extended ROM Install - No PreConfig and Syncing Animation under Custom? Should I have any of those checked or should it not make a difference?

Yes, you should have Enable Extended ROM install checked. I need to make a package to run the Tmobile Extended ROM install, but basically, this disables the Extended ROM install. I haven't tried without it checked, but I did remove the original files... The syncing animation is your preference.

You checked more than one CommManager. Please check one only.
You should probably wait for the fourth release of this kitchen so that you get a working camera.

I think I will wait too. I always get this error message when I try to flash. Dunno what it means.

ERROR: ITWriteDisk - An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.

That depends. I don't have much time to work on it and I'm trying to test one package at a time. No one has offered to create the graphics for me, which kinda sucks cause I have no artitistic talent. I might just get them from a dumped OneTouch ROM or something.

As it stands, I can release the 4th one with very few packages and release the rest of the packages when I'm done working on them...
First I want to test one more thing, though: I'm getting rid of a lot of junk (Enterprise, SQM, SqlCeMobile, Catalog, etc.) and I have to add them as optional packages. I only have a few minutes a day to work on this, though, because I'm not allowed to at work and I go to school during the day. The weekend are the only time I get to spend with my fiancee, too.
But soon, I hope. Soon. I'll try to push for the end of this week.

That error usually comes to me when I forget to place the phone on FLIGHT mode before I flash. (If you are placing the phone on flight mode, then installing Aserg's policies and then power cycling, it won't work. Some ROMs will disable flight mode as the phone powers up, so you have to reenable flight mode again before you begin flashing.)

Take your time, its not like you have a deadline or anything. I think its great that you came up with this. I actually just deleted the camera files from the v3 releases and added in the camera cab and it works fine. Also, I noticed that I can just add some packages I have into the OEM folder and the EBO usually picks it up which I think is a major plus. You have done a great job in designing this. You could release the 4th one with very few packages but I think if you are going to do a release, you should have it all checked out beforehand. No point in releasing a version that may cause problems.

Yay!!!!! I always thought it stayed in flight mode after I do a soft reset. Guess I learn something new everyday.
