I saw that at the AT&T corporate store, tried it and it fits nice. One thing is that it has a small peice that slips between the slider and the top half and it actualy seperates the 2 parts which I did not like as it looked like it is forcing them apart. Other than that it would have been perfect.

I am pretty sure you did not see this one at an ATT store, as it has not been released yet. I had the Seidio holster for my 8525 and it was AWESOME. I will be getting this holster as soon as they release it.
And yes, if there is something that sits between the slider and the main unit, that would be real bad :(

I actualy did as it arrived that day and the manager brought it out for me as it did not make it to the shelfs yet. It was also packed in the usual AT&T packaging. If you want I will head out there this week and take a picture of it.

I liked the Seidio model and used one for my 8125, but I found it a bit awkward getting it in and out of the holster, especially while seated and a few times I almost dropped it while trying to get it released.
I always thought a release mechanism which worked side to side rather then top to bottom would be easier to manipulate. I'd also like one that could be used with the phone facing in or out.

I'm a little confused. Which holster is this?
It's the Kaiser/TyTN II/Tilt/8925 "rubberized" face-in vertical holster (http://www.seidioonline.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=871).
I like the idea of the rubberized coating and spring clip not wearing out the nice finish on the Kaiser like the regular plastic models. However, I hate to front-in design. I'd like to be able to leave in the clip and still use it. Otherwise, I'll be tempted to not keep it in the holster at home, and invariably it will get stuffed in my pants pocket where it will become the third phone I accidentally wash in the laundry. :(
Another thing is this horizontal holster seems more natural to insert/remove since it's easier to hold and manipulate from side-to-side instead of the longer top-to-bottom length. Read too many horror stories of people with vertical holsters dropping their phones while trying to insert/remove.
Finally, a lot of holsters block access to the stylus, which just seems ridiculous. I'll probably have to grind out a hole on that corner.
<sigh>...If only someone made a rubberized, spring-clip, face-out (or reversible) horizontal holster with full access to all ports/buttons/stylus/camera...

Yea. I use my Mogul holster with the face in. Works very well. but face out, it doesn't stay in the clip. I ordered the holster in my orig. link, but haven't received it, so until then, in it goes...

Just to be fair, I did contact Seidio two weeks ago about using their Kaiser face-in holster as face-out, and they said:
Seidio only recommends using the holster for face-in carrying. For faced-out, some keys may be hit, like the camera key, menu and ok key. Also, the 11-pin USB port will be blocked too.Kinda odd that the camera button, which is centered front to back, would hit when flipped around. Wonder if the holster is asymmetrical or if the rep is simply mistaken? Oh well...interference with camera, Menu, OK buttons, USB port (and mic, too, I assume)...nothing a Dremel can't fix. :)
Bigger concern is as thompson said with it not staying in face-out. Been wondering about that since the Kaiser's back edge has a longer slope than the front.
I'll probably just buy all three: the Seidio, the Wireless Galaxy horizontal holster, and a standard vertical holster (if/when available) and do a comparison of all three with pics & mods. Finding one that I will actually use will be a lot cheaper than washing another $490 load of jeans/phone. :o

Hmmm...never heard of Wireless Galaxy, so I did a quick search and found www.resellerratings.com/store/WirelessGalaxy (http://www.resellerratings.com/store/WirelessGalaxy). Lots of dissatisfied customers.
Would anyone who has ordered their horizontal holster keep this thread informed as to the status of your order? And, more importantly, post some better pics of it when/if you get it. :)

The Seido holster looks nice. The "face-in" design protects the touchscreen... nothing would suck more than some nice blunt/sharp object hitting the screen. I thought the details mentioned that the holster rotates so you could have the phone in a horizontal position, but it would still clip in via the top and bottom of the phone.
Not sure why anyone would want to use the phone while in the holster? I guess if I used a wired headset access to the buttons would be nice...
Found a generic horizontal pouch with magnetic flap for my Hermes. It had belt loops in addition to the clip, which felt more secure.

I thought the details mentioned that the holster rotates so you could have the phone in a horizontal position, but it would still clip in via the top and bottom of the phone.
Most holsters/beltclips rotate, so the distinction we are making (or at least I'm making) is releasing on the top/bottom of the phone is a "vertical" holster and releasing on the side of the phone (like Wireless Galaxy's) is a "horizontal" holster.
Not sure why anyone would want to use the phone while in the holster? I guess if I used a wired headset access to the buttons would be nice...
The whole reason I want a face-out holster is so I will leave the phone in the holster when I take it off my belt at home. Thus, I can still use it in the holster in my hand--not on my belt. And if it's in the holster, it's too big to stick in my pocket, which greatly reduces the likelihood that I will wash my phone with a load of laundry like I've done twice before. (Rest in pieces, 8125.) :(
Found a generic horizontal pouch with magnetic flap for my Hermes. It had belt loops in addition to the clip, which felt more secure.
I've got my old 8125 pouch still, but pouches don't do the trick because I have to take the phone out to use it whilst I walk around the house, and, afterwards, into the pocket it goes.

For those of you interested, I Photoshop'd the Wireless Galaxy image so we can see the image details a little better.
As pictured, the phone sits in the holster face-out with the release tab on the phone's right side. The top left and bottom left corners of the holster extend upward to keep the phone in place against the release tab on the right. Looks like a tight fit with the PTT button on the top left.
The corners and the release tab have a very small overhang to hold onto the phone. The corners don't seem to extend very high or curve inward at all. Perhaps the overhangs slip between the screen and phone? That would potentially allow keyboard access while holstered, but seems like it will make insertion more precarious, not to mention making the overhangs very thin and fragile.
There's a triangular recess on the inside from the corners to the release tab. Through the camera and GPS cutouts you can see the top of the beltclip. If you look very closely in the middle of the triangle, you can see a very faint circle, which I presume matches a mount on the back for rotating the beltclip.
The way it is now I'm afraid a slight nudge might send my phone crashing to the floor. I'd feel a lot more comfortable (1) if there was an additional tab on the left side that wraps around the front, (2) if the the release tab was wider to give it more grip and also wrapped around the front more, and finally (3) if the tab itself was shorter so it's harder to accidentally open, or even better, spring-loaded like Seidio's.

Most holsters/beltclips rotate, so the distinction we are making (or at least I'm making) is releasing on the top/bottom of the phone is a "vertical" holster and releasing....
Points well taken. :)
I just need the holster to carry the phone when not in use. When I'm using the phone, I like to hold it or see it... and if I'm on the phone with my headset for any length, I don't mind the phone on my hip. Its just nice to have a "place" for the phone... away from pockets where the screen can get scratched.
Luckily I haven't accidently washed my phone... though I've washed my headset plenty of times.

NICE. So I ask, how can you take the mula, with no product, no email telling me this, and you TOOK my dinero? The only thing she could tell me is that they can offer me a refund. I said I will take my refund, and report this b/c no form of communication was attempted to contact me, AND, your site is still taking orders!! Needless to say I have a refund and a free holster when or if they receive it. I told them 30 days or else. Sorry guys if you ordered one. Call them and get your $ and a lil something else.

I signed up for e-mail notification and the e-mail said exactly what's on the website and that is that they are taking pre-orders now for shipments starting on 11/19.
But uh...if you talked with someone on the phone, I would imagine that they would best know what the status is. The problem is that their website shows it is in stock, even though there is a disclaimer that shipments begin on the 19th. The phone rep may have just been seeing the stock indicator and not been up to speed with the delay in shipment.
Either way, I got my order in and it will ship when it will ship. The sooner the better, but at least I am in line when they are ready.

Woohoo! Just got my Seidio holster in the mail. I was little skeptical of the price tag, but now that it's in my hand, I have to say it's much better than the cheap-o holsters. Rubberized coating is much better than I thought it could be, and the craftsmanship is top-notch. I don't still know that's it's $30 good, but it's definitely $20 or even $25 good.
The big news for those wondering is that the holster CAN hold the phone face-out. HOWEVER, it doesn't hold it quite as well because the front-to-back slope of the phone is different. It's minor, but I'll post pictures later today so you all can make your own decisions probably in a new thread dedicated to a Seidio review.
As for accessibility in face-out, the ExtUSB plug and mic are covered, as well as half the camera button (you can still press it with your fingernail if you need to). In addition, the bottom corners wrap around and cover the edge of the Start and OK buttons by less than a millimeter. However, I don't think the Start, OK, and camera overlaps can accidentally push the buttons. There doesn't appear to be any structural reason for the overlaps, so you can Dremel if you really want to (and consequently screw up the fine rubberized finish). :)

Just received my Seidio case today! This is exactly what I was hoping for. Buying the right case is so very subjective, but for me it is perfect. It has a very secure feel when the phone is clipped into the case. There is very little chance of it falling out. In fact the only way it could is if you inadvertently hit the spring loaded clip. The clip itself is very well made and has just the right amount of tension for keeping the phone secure. It clips easily onto your belt and keep the phone in a very neutral position. The belt clip rotates 90 degrees in both directions for horizontal carry. The interior part of the case, which is where the face of the phone would be resting is lined with heavy felt. More than enough to protect the phone. I would worry somewhat about it wearing out over time. The look of the case is matted black, definitely not shiny in any way.
All in all, this is an outstanding case, very well made and durable. Perfect match for those who want to carry the Tilt/Kaiser on their belt.
Also, I have the full body protection Invisibleshield on my device and this does not in any way interfere with the usefulness of the case. In fact, the rear shield adds a bit of glossy finish to the phone, so, it looks kind of cool in the case on your belt! At least that is my opinion.

do you think it is possible to make some modifications to seidio holster for making it fully functional with buttons always visible?, maybe cutting the plastic for the usb port to be accessible, a little sand dows in the back part where the camera is located...

I am in the software development field. When anybody asks me if something is possible, my answer is always "Yes, anything is possible." But I always follow that up with..."If you have the right talent, money and time."
That being said, I have tried unsuccessfully before to modify a hoster for a different phone. I had money (to buy a new one after I screwed up the original). I had time. But was missing talent.
That being said, I have found it best practice to keep away from altering products so I find the product that best suits my needs assuming I will be living with it unaltered. You really have to look at the overall usefulness of the buttons you want exposed while still in the holster. For example, it's really not beneficial to have the camera button accessible while the device is in the holster because you are either blocking the lens or the screen depending on which way you have your device in the holster. The only caveat to that is if you have your camera button re-mapped to another function that makes more sense for it to be used while in the holster.

Looks like a fantastic case. Just hope the clip keep the case as close to the body as possible. Sick and tired of those geeky looking things that dangle off of you like some sort of embarrasing appendage!

After reading the reviews and watching the video review I have decided to try the holster. I hope this one is better then the Krussell case I tried.

Here is what I did with my Seido Holster, I wish that the Tilt had a notch on the back side of the battery cover so that perhaps the holster's would snap in there and wouldn't require a spring. Anyway, I thought that the top portion of the holster was too bulky. I modified it a little, what do you all think?

Does it make it harder to get out of the holster?

not really, it's pretty easy, you could norrow the top portion without taking of the lip.

I'd guess that mod will make the spring loaded latch flimsier.
One change I'd prefer would be a more comfortable belt clip, like my blackberry for work. A bit wider and less protrusion into the belt/hip so there's slightly less potential pressure per square inch so to speak.

Finally got my review done with pics, available in this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=346130). Sorry it took so long, but I spent some extra time on the pictures so potential buyers could make an informed decision. Enjoy!
Cool mod, midyatspor1000! Don't think I'll make my latch narrower, but I might follow your lead and round over the tab a bit to reduce accidental openings (read my review--yikes!).

I'm using the same one (I had a Treo 750 before). It fits perfectly with my Tilt.
how do you attach it to your belt? clip on or loop?

This has turned into a Seidio holster discussion, but following thompson's original post, this orginally started out with a post about a horizontal holster from Wireless Galaxy. Well, folks, yesterday I finally got the horizontal holster (it's actually a Wireless Solutions product).
All my above assumptions from the photo were accurate. The most notable is that the clips do indeed fit between the screen and phone, and thus, the Wireless Solutions holster allows slide-out keyboard access! In fact, unlike the Seidio, you have full access to every button and port!
Unfortunately, first impression of the holster is that it's crap. Feels cheap compared to the Seidio (but then again, it is cheap compared to the Seidio). :) The worst thing is that the tabs that allow keyboard access also pry the phone apart to an alarming degree. It's so bad that I keep my screen slid open about 2mm while it's holstered. Also, despite what I thought about horizontal holsters being easier to insert/remove, this one is not. It almost requires 2 hands to remove. For insertion, I always have to double-check that it's properly seated before removing my hand.
Besides the full button/port access, the only positive thing I can say about this holster is that they did a better job on the beltclip than Seidio. Both holsters have a similar wheel design, but Seidio's has raised ridges and side stiffners that scratch your belt, while this holster's wheel is smooth and rounded.
I'll do a full review with pics similar to my Seidio review in about 2 weeks.

I went to the Att store around my way and to my surprise, they had the exact same one, for $19.99. I went on and purchased it, since my Mogul holster I was using broke the same day. It works preaty well. the plastic is kinda of thin, but it holds the phone Damn well... I'm sure that it was made to put the phone in screen out. The way it turns on your belt is askward to me, the screen when turned on is facing the opposite way, but I think it's b/c of the keyboard being able to slide out, which works most beautifully by the way. I'm glad i purchased it. I've had it about a week, and have yet have the phone come out(knock,knock)..You can even take out the stylus, and have access to all ports. When the kb is out in the holster, I have NO problem typing whatsoever. I would highly recommend this. I have fat fingers, and work delivering bread, so I hit it alot. NO PROBLEMS!!

I wouldn't recommend buying from Wireless Galaxy either.
I bought mine from them on Nov. 5 before your cancellation post, but bought it knowing the horrible reviews of Wireless Galaxy (http://www.resellerratings.com/store/WirelessGalaxy)...I figured it was only $15. Unlike you, I got confirmation e-mails within a few minutes. No mention of backorder on website or e-mails. They took my money that same day, too.
Nearly 4 weeks passed with no delivery. I e-mailed on Nov. 29 asking where my holster was and they responded Nov. 30, saying "Your package has been processed and shipped on 11/30/2007". So, either (1) I very coincidentally e-mailed exactly when they happened to get a shipment of an item that they never said was backordered, or (2) they took my money and then proceeded to sit on their asses.

I'm sure that it was made to put the phone in screen out.
LOL...I misread that and thought you had said "I'm not sure that it was made to put the phone in screen out." That got me thinking and sure enough this holster works face-in as well, gripping on the first hump behind the screen. Holds pretty solid, too. Only problem is that the top tab presses the OK button when it's face-in.
Great...Now I have to mod that tab and try to add some super-thin protective felt like the Seidio, plus get pictures of it all face-in and face-out and modded like my Seidio holster review...<sigh>

I bought the Armor Case from Boxwave and I love it.
You can clip it to your belt if you want to (or leave off the screw plug, and its just a case). You can view the screen while it is closed. When you open the case, you have access to everything without removing it (e.g., the tilt keyboard will still slide out and tilt; you can get to the stylus; charge it; take pictures, etc). The front keypad is also exposed for use while closed.
Love love love it

I use the PDair Aluminum Case (http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_900000_11000164&products_id=6561) [Black as well] which is very similar to the Boxwave [actually I suspect BW has PDair as their manufacturer hehe] faster and since it ships out of HKG worldwide for free with almost the same price [I live in the Philippines] then I got a cheapo [PhP 150.00 aprox USD 3.57] horizontal belt case that fits a SE P990i which fits the TyTN mark II in the Alum case.

The holster looks nice but to me it looks as though that clip it just begging to get snagged/bumped on something and release the phone...(((CRASH  ))) I watched the video and saw the pics and even though it seems to take some finger force to release it I have believe body forces in motion are what make these types of accidents happen..at least to me  . I was wondering if anyone has has that happen  ( hopefully without the fatal crash thing). Plus it does not look like the bottom of the case overlaps the phone enough to prevent it from falling out if say you happen to lean on the clip unknowingly. Of course if it did overlap too much the buttons would be covered...perhaps a strategically placed additional retainer would have insured against it from falling completely out...woulda, coulda, shoulda!
All the other clip type holsters I have had for various phones inevitably released my phone by accident. Thus I have steered clear of such holsters. Like most people I have to much to think about other than bumping/brushing into something during the course of a normal day. And unlike the Kaiser my other phones didn't cost me big $$$$ !!!
Also the back will take a beating which can be easily replaced but would make the phone look less than "cool" in the meantime  ...I think I'm talking myself out of this idea already!!
The included case from HTC is good for now, I also had the ATT leather case, which was nice till the leather stitching fell out of one side!!!

fizzie, you're talking about the Seidio holster, not the Wireless Galaxy holster, right?
The bottom part of the Seidio holster more than adequately holds the phone, even with the Start/OK mods in my Seidio review (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=346130). The real problem is the tab accidentally opening, as you indicated. Since the incident in my review, I have had 2 more accidental pop outs. One of them knocked my Kaiser completely out and it fell to floor. Fortunately, the floor was only a few inches away because I was under my desk messing with wires at the time. Whew!
And this whole accidental opening thing is what's so funny about all the face-in advocates (including Seidio themselves) who are opposed to my ideas of making the Seidio holster reversible. They're so obsessed with face-in protecting the screen that they refuse to even acknowledge that a few minor design changes could make the Seidio holster fully reversible. I guess the very idea of using the Seidio holster face-out is sacrilegious to them. Yet if they really want protection, they shouldn't be using a holster! I mean, let's face it, whatever could potentially press/scrape against the screen could just as easily press/scrape against the holster's tab and send the phone crashing to the floor, which would be far more damaging than a little scratch on the screen. Plus there's the wear and tear you mentioned because over half the phone is exposed.
In contrast, a leather pouch offers much better protection without the risk of accidental popout. But with leather pouches I end up accidentally pressing buttons when I'm fumbling to pull out my phone and inevitably send important calls straight to voicemail. With a holster, I don't have that problem. Plus the holster is faster on the draw--even faster than the releasable clip found on some leather/metal cases.
So ultimately what you're really getting with a holster is not protection, but convenience. Say, you know what would be really convenient? A face-out holster! Oh, great...here comes the face-in zealots with their "Face-in protects the screen" mantra. :) (In all fairness, I have to reiterate from other posts that most of the time I use my Seidio holster face-in to protect my screen, too, but also like to flip my phone face-out for accessibility.)

I came to ATT from the nextel world and face-in is how all their holsters work... I like the face in idea, especially because the speaker is on the back of the phone, so it would be easier to hear with a screen in clip... I went to FRY's last night, not a single viable option for a holster... I'll have to keep looking around
