I experienced hangings for planty of times. It often happens when closing some windows,settings and applications accidentially. I don't know the exact operation will cause this.

I tried to install only a few essential applications to see if there is any conflicts. However, doesn't seem to be better.

After some forced resets (warm), it happens more frequently, sometimes it even hangs just by entering the today screen after booting.

I think I will switch back to 3.6a soon and waiting for solutions.

Anyone experiences the same thing?

Shirin, I tried it... much slower than the iGO nav. i re-installed the iGO, however the maps on the iGO take a lot of room on my SD card. Google Nav quit working on me and gave me the error msgs I posted earlier. As soon as Schap get this ROM completed, I might give the Google Nav a run again...

Is there a site that I can get the Google Nav Maps as "gratis" if you can catch my drift... :) ??

Some older versions of Skype work perfectly fine. Search in this forum to find out which, sorry I don't remember. However, you might try www.fring.com - it's a piece of software that let's you call and chat using your Skype account as well as some other IM tools.

Thanks for the heads up. I managed to find an earlier verison that works well. It seems strange that for some reason Skype has slipped into incompatibility mode when these earlier versions don't pose a problem. Interesting.

Anyone experiencing extreme battery drain? I loaded the rom when it was released last night and left the phone on overnight. It was at 90% charge and now its at 30%, not even 12 hours passed.

I have started to notice that since using these 4.0 rom's my battery life has shorten as well. Normally during a days work I will go home at about 70%, but as of late its always aroun 40-50% and I am not doing anything different. I have no programs running but Active Sync.

Unless the battery itself is just dying then I can only think the rom is causing it? :confused: Anyone have any other sugguestions? I am thinking of flashing to the ATT unofficial rom to see if I get the same results.

yes I have had s the same problem with the 3.54b rom, and I have ever asked the same thing. But nobody answered.
So my phone is going back to htc for being checking.
But now you have the same problem, and I think that I have missed something before to send it to HTC

I hope this is not been reported but there seems to be a bug when using a car charger... if you plug it in when the device is on, it does not charge the only way to resolve it is to plug it in and soft-reset the device.

This used to happen on the first Black Release but then i think there was a fix but cant remember or find it.

I recently flashed Schap's 4 on my Hermes. Everything went fine, except now I can't get my device to sync with my laptop. The laptop runs Vista Biz, with WMDC as the sync conduit. The laptop sees the Hermes, and I can browse the directory on the device. But no matter what I try, I can't get the device to sync with the laptop. It's not a huge issue, but I do have an Outlook database of 100 or so contacts that I really don't want to have to type into the handheld. I've already tried uninstalling the device in Vista and reinstalling it. Delected all partnerships in WMDC and started over there. All to no avail. Any thoughts? Is there a registry tweak I need to make? Or am I missing something really simple?

I am sure all the mobile operators are quite happy with that however! :) Now they can continue charging exorbitant rates for international calls, which costs next to nothing with Skype. However, I found that Fring actually works a little better with the Hermes, seems to keep the connection better somehow. But it requires you to register your mobile number in order to install.

Through all my ROMs, I've had to realign the screen after changing screen rotation (i.e, sliding out the keyboard). Are you saying it is now happening regardless of that? This would indeed be HUGELY frustrating.

Have you perhaps flashed a radio ROM too? Those seem to have a huge influence on battery drain.

I concur to this. Esp. when using 3G...
I had to go back from the 1.50 to 1.38 to be able to use 3G on the Orange (FR) network. Still, 3G consumes much more battery than EDGE :-(

I even feel the device warmimg when 3G is on and I use it....

Regarding battery drain, try letting the battery get to 0% so that it switches the phone off, then when you switch it back on again it goes off again, then leave it charging untill fully charged (dont interupt it at all) and see how it is then. I have found after a radio flash I have had to in effect recalibrate the battery meter. Before doing the above it would drop down to 50% quickly then 30% and sit on 30% for hours evenwith media player running etc...

Has anyone had trouble with locked HW keys? Since upgrading to 4.0 RC I find that none of the HW-keys on the front of my phone work. The side buttons do but messaging, Internet, the phone-buttons etc. are all dead. Anyone have a clue as to what I've done to upset it?

Other than that "minor" difficulty this is a truly excellent ROM!

I went from 3.6a to 4.0 RC, all ok apart from the low volume problem.

Then I restored an spb backup image which resulted in the flashing icons problem as previously experienced, settings crash and no Google Navigator (Current Rom driver is not support Direct 3D). Using Advance config I was able to get the ROM version number, it stated that I had v3.6a!

Then I did a hard reset, no more flashing icons and settings ok once again, but Google Navigator came up with Exception code: 0xc0000005, Exception address: 0x01491fdc, Reading: 0x00005234).

One more hard reset and a further backup image restore, minus the registry this time, resulted in everything almost ok. No flashing icons, settings fine and shows Rom v4 installed, but Google Nav still suffered from the same exception.

When the back up registry is installed again, guess what? Same old problems. Another thing I've noticed is that the startup screen shows "D:3.2", surely this can't be right?

By adjusting the registry you can go back to high vol level, check previous threads for answer.

SPB does not restore the ROM fully, I had this problem before, try using sprite backup where can can backup the databases.

From my previous experience in pda's it is better when you upgrade to freshly reinstall the application, try this you'll get a top performance rather than the restore, restore is ok for the same version type in case of crash or so.

Most likely not related to this rom. I had problems with screen alignment before and had my Tytn replaced under warranty.

Are you really in singapore? if not your auto timezone probably reseting back to where ever you are staying. Uncheck the auto timezone to see if that make any difference.

I will give that a try however I just flashed to the ATT Rom release ver. 3.62.502.3, which is out in the forum now.

I am going to see how the battery life works on this one and then go back to Schap's 4.0 RC or Final for further testing.

The new ATT Rom has the same radio version I have been running since it showed up on the forum... 1.54.07.00. Thanks for the advice!

Update: Okay, managed to get Google Nav to work without the exception. Needs to be able to connect to internet! Doh! Still trying to find the odd reg setting thats causing the flashy effect...

tried this one but couldn't get along with it so have gone back to 3.54c

But now have noticed that when I use your config tools to change line up of HTC HOME ie move launcher infront of weather I keep getting a hang on bootscreen after device saves settings and reboots.
Ive tried this many times without any other software loaded so think the reg settings are getting messed up. Has anyone else had same issues.

I've now removed HTC from my home screen and replaced with SPBweather an SPBtime both work well.

I've tried nero mobile on Scahp's V4 ROM it is working perfectly, as you can use it as a multimedia storing your photos, music, videos as one suite.

I visited that page before posting for help. That involves an RUU file as well. When I try to install it I received the same error message.

I have flashed it many time before with Sleuth's, all of vp3G's roms and two of snaps. Additionally, I get the same message even if I try to flash the upgraded RUU wrapper. Could it be software related? Because even if I disconnnect the usb cable I get the same error when I should receive the connection error. Just my thoughts.

I solved my own problem. Sometime ago I used windows recovery to move my computer back to a previous date. I must have chosen a date that was before I installed .net. Summary I didn't have a working copy of .net framework. reinstalled and now everything working fine.

Yes, and it's probably a good idea to charge it back to full with the phone OFF - it should get a steady current from 0 to 100.

You sir, pardon me for being blunt, are fool to be updating your phone without first putting on HardSPL!! You are just asking for trouble.

As to your problem, I ONLY ever use the MicroSD card to upgrade stuff. That usb method has been the death of too many phones. I suggest you do a bit more reading....

Well I flashed to the new AT&T Official ROM AT&T 3.62.502.3 last night. I went to work today and did all the normal things I do with my phone, plus a few more things because I was installing a programs after flashing. Like I said in my previous post after testing with 4.0 my battery would be in the 50% pretty quickly, but today with the new rom I went home with 80%!!!

I am only assuming at this point that the 4.0 ROM is causing my phone to do this? I know if it were wide spread we would hear others say the same, so it looks to be something particular to my device. Who knows... but I do know I like the new AT&T ROM and believe that once Schaps gets his hands on it and makes it his own it will be only better.

Everything has been working for me but one thing and that is every night three nights in a row the alarm goes off 06.00 and I have not set it to go off untill hours later. I can't have it lie this so I'm changing rom unless someone has a clue on what might be wrong?

I've even tried using SKTools to cleanup notification cue.

Battery is always subject to comments. I have tried a lot of roms. The only real impact on battery i noticed is linked to the "phone" section. If i am in a zone where 3G is good and the phone does not switch from one network to another permanently, the power drain is very reasonnable, included with this rom (3 days now without charging but switching it off during the night). Another element is that the phone is on a regular base signaling its presence to the network. The frequence of this is network dependent. More it happens more it drains power. This could also explain differences between countries-network

A few weeks ago i was around with my new BT headset. battery was 100percent in the morning. BT was turned on, headset was connected all day. phoned about an hour or two. battery was still about 50% in the evening.
i think it was schaps 3.54.
since 4.0 i also asked myself, if something happened to my battery. radio rom was not changed. now i have to recharge almost every day.

I seem to be able to get it registered ith my BES, I can use the BB IE on my dopod but I can't seem to use the email. there is no folder called Blackberry on the email folder. Have I done anything wrong?

Having the same problem with BBconnect as Tyming with 4.0.0.90 and messages. Using message envelope on Home, or soft button, the setup on BBconnect is either not producing a proper Inbox for receiving messages, sometimes produces a System inbox, or sometimes even multipile System inboxes. I do have it setup now,receiving emails, however an official,proper inbox does not appear. You have to press the Microsoft outlook inbox, to get at your email..You end up looking for System Inbox, and there you find your emails. After flashing to 4.0 RC radio continually trying to find network. Connection setting are fine and everything works fine connection wise but keeps searching and does not recognize on ATT network (thereby draining battery more than ususal). Flashed to 1.50.00 and now ok. This radio has been a little ify. Other than that everything else seems ok, no sound issues as reported by others.

You need hardspl + SuperCID. I was getting this error. after reading are research this is what I came up with. now I can flash any rom. :) .

I had a multitude of bugs today..Buttons would stop responding. Battery meter would not display information after tap on touchscreen. Txts and phone calls would not go through. I confirmed the problems as bugs after switching to 3.54c...it jus became horribly buggy...plus I saw something I NEVER SAW Before...I've always been able to play music, be on AIM and use the interenet at once while being on a phone call...today...a window came up saying critically low memory...please shutdown at least one program....I never saw this b4...I felt like u should know this Schap's...for now...I'll be trying out the Newly released WM6 Rom from AT&T..if it's as bloated and boring as it usually is, I'll be right back to 3.54c unless ur final 4.00 can be just as stable as 3.54c

The only problem I have found using it two days is that can not connect to Internet throgh Activesync .
Even if I check on Work Connection "this network connects to internet". In fact, if I check this value and I get into work connection settings again I find that it is again unchecked.

Guys,

When noting that items are missing, such as java software, you should remember that this version from Schaps is a Release Candidate (RC). It is NOT the final version.

This version is to flush and iron out bugs not caught in previous testing before the final version is released. It is a ROM for testing purposes only.

If you are looking for missing items or want a higher level of stability than you might have with this RC, then you might want to consider flashing back to whatever previous ROM you were using.

love the rom, only thing is its prolly not a rom issue but i have my cellular plan and a 20 dollar unlimited media net plan with some amount of txt msgs, i never get anythign besides the Gprs symbol and my friend has the same phone 8525 with same rom, but his goes 3g/att and says E everywhere mine says G any ideas how to fix? is it my data plan? do i use ISP or WAP settings..whats the diffrence...is there a proxy i should use if setting up manually, i have a cab that he used not sure who packed it but its called cing mms wap ver2 and its all good but doesnt change anything if anyone knows the proper settings for my 8525 on Cingular in NY or somwhere remotely close please help.

^ My guess would be your friend has the 3g bands enabled and you simply do not. Just go into the phone settings and change your settings from gsm to 3g. Although you will experience faster battery burn

Scenario:
Phone keypad etc is locked, I get an incoming call, they ring off just as I try to answer the call with the Green button.

Problem:
Phone touch screen locks up, have to turn off phone (button on right, not SR etc), then switch back on.

As I said, minor bug, not sure if its present in all ROM's as I'm fairly new to the Hermes.

There is no battery drain issue in this ROM, the battery life is even longer than with shipped ROMs!

Schaps pro 4.00 unbricked by 2nd 8525. After multiple ROM crashes at between 10-85 percent on the new AT&T official ROM, and 1 crash on SPL7 and Radio 1.54, I was ready to give the phone the boot. I got this phone from someone who tossed it away because they had bricked it and the AT&T store said it was Super CID/Unlocked and the warranty was void.
So out of the 6 roms I have parked on my desktop I decided to try Schaps even though my Active sync was not connecting and I was stuck in bootloader. Low and behold 100%. It took. I then reflashed SPL7. YAY.

Anyways, thanks. I really like this ROM.

Hi ive been trying to upgrade to schaps 4.0 but ive been having a problem.

you see awhile back i had flashed itouch rom to my tytn and after awhile it "bricked." atleast thats what i think it would be called. I had to do a hard reset and all of my info was lost but luckily my phone worked again for the most part. (it wont recognize my SD card now)

So i decided to try and update to schaps rom to try and get full function back. problem is that after syncing and starting the flash my phone disconects from activesync and flash sticks at 0%. I can do a soft reset and phone works but i would prefer to be able to flash back to a fully working state.

Anyone have any idea why my phone or computer is reacting this way? i searched the forum for an hour with no luck.

It's great this version 4, 2 things i would like to comment on, all is perfect. The strange thing is that the ring tone has become very low compared to the previous version. And the speed is a little slower. This could also be the case that i have upgrade from 3.6 and restored the databases. I don't know if this comment will be helpfull for you or not.

This also worked for me.

Follow the instruction in the wiki to fully understand how to make registry changes. That's how I got it to work.

This is fixed with a simple registry change:

HKLM\software\htc\music plug-in needs to be set to 2.

I believe that's it...going from memory here.

First Of all i want to congratulate u for all that good work , that you have done.
The Rom Is very fast it cant compare too black majik much better.
I Want to report some bugs that will impove the final version of you.

1.)IN Connection setup Greece Does not Exist ? (Providers Are (Vodafone Cosmote And Wind)
2) In Comm manager the main page is not the same like the one we have in full version. How Do we change it? (Havent Found it yet)
3) I-tech Clip D Bluetooth does not display caller id in the display. (This problems was also in WM6 Black Majic)
4) In the speakphone volume is low but after a while it returns to its place.
5) In phone settings the ring tone volume is very low and cant change it.
6) i would like to know which radio is best for battery life and no overheating , yesterday i downgraded from 1.54 to 1.48 and i see that battery is better.

I just open the xml file to read what changes are made in registry and check them. In my case, number of functions for comm manager was still at 9 so I change to 6 and now all is ok.Can someone please supply the path into where these changes are to be made?

Just noticed something from ROM 3.6a(full) to 4.0(full-RC) When I used 3.6a and had my IMAP service setup I had selected to have the FULL email downloaded in HTML mode. I could see the FULL message of course with WAP style.....(thats to be excpected..) BUT When I use 4.0full the outlook client does not display anything at all but a blank page with the subject. No options to download pictures, can not select (Download full message) nothing... I have checked and made sure I have all the options 100% the same. But for some reason using 4.0 can not see some emails.

Any way to fix this???

Anyway for me to erease this outlook client and install a better email program???

I too have had this issue. I use AvantGo to update RSS feeds, When that has updated my feeds the battery meter shows a drop in 10%

I use radio 1.5 does this matter???

for me your roms are the best. Are you building the roms in other languages like your 3.54b, too ... ??? This would very nice ... e.g. the 3.60 in german seems to be very nice & stable & performant , but only without t-mobile changes :)

I think this is the most anticipated rom to come out and if it run for me with out a hitch I'll be glade to give a little PP/Donate for your efforts. Not much but at least something to show my appreciation as I'm almost always broke myself :).

The released rom from ATT was very good as far as stability as you say, glade to hear your using more of their drivers in this release it will probably make a big difference as to how well this ROM will hold up especially over time.

Again thanks for all your efforts I know the reason you do is not for the donations but it does help when you get a few. I have never gotten any for my site :( but thats neither here nor their, I give when I use because a bit in the pocket says more than thanks for the new rom. LOL

It will work with an VarioII. I by my self use a german VarioII with a previous version of this ROM. Just have a look at the Upgrade-Guide before begin flashing: http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=52&Itemid=26

I have been lurking here for a while just waiting for the right time to dive in and try these custom roms. This weekened was that time and I am so glad I did. We have 18x 8525 phones and the people at work a so jealous of how much sweeter my phone is than theirs! :D

I had problems with this rom and GoodLink 5. I mean it could be something else but I have run 5 on previous roms without a problem. 4.9 works fine and upgrading to 5 after a 4.9 install doesnt seem to work either. Whole phone freezes on the launch of the good apps.

I need Good for work, unfortunately. Anyone else get this?

I'm Loving this ROM Its great.

I would like to turn off/uninstall the # Comm vibrate button feature because it adds a tray icon to show vibrate is turned on, to the today screen, taking up screen real estate.

I've been reading the forums and found something to do with manner mode
TrayIcon_MannerMode.exe , is this the same thing built into this rom?

I tried installing and then uninstalling the cab from this thread but it didnt help

i have WM6'd my SPV M3100 with Schaps ROM excellent, except that the camera app seems not to "see" the microSD card and hence its 2GB of lovileness. Has anyone else experienced this or similar. For a change WMPlayer and Audio Managaer can both see the card in Library..

I remember that one of the latest beta versions of Skype was working fine and even the voice on my TyTn. Unfortunately I can't remember the exact build. With the latest version Skype quits when trying voice dial. My ROM is Schap's 3.57a (until 4.0 is final :) ).

Skype works on my Schaps 3.60 rom.

i put this new rom on my 8525 (thanx schap), but now when i input the gprs info and pair it with my bluetooth earpiece, everything seems to work fine, until i soft reset, then it all gets erased, and i have to retype my gprs info and repair my bluetooth. i read for hours the past two days on wiki and forums and couldn't find a solution. can anyone shed some light here? thanx.

Yep. Same here.

Have tried a few things including installing GL5 on Black X, Backing up, reflashing with Schap's 4.01 and trying a restore. No Luck.
